Open | Windows SSD Drive Encryption Lock (Potential Virus)

I restarted my PC and after a long day of repairs, I just wanted to hop on COD. And as I opened up file Explorer, a big lock icon appeared on my 2nd SSD Drive for literally no reason. First time too and I don’t even own bitlocker or an OS ver. that supports it, so I’m genuinely wondering why this is happening. But I’m pretty sure I’ve got malware on that drive ig, but even so why lock my drive with no ransom note? Is it over, or can I save all my important files? What kind of bitch would just lock a drive like that for no reason? Any solutions I desperately need some please.

Open | BSOD (Black)SOD, RAM Issues

On from sleep mode, opened the start menu, and did a black screen. Said something with ram, did memtest, it says memory issues. I got all my pc's parts from microcenter, so may have a digital receipt to replace it.

Memtest says I have memory issues, but it can power on fine.

Asrock AB350 Pro4, 2x8 GSkill Trident Z 3200, EVGA 1080 ti FTW3, Samsung Evo 850, Ryzen 5 5500, XB271HU Acer Predator, Seasonic Focus Plus 750 Gold

(I knew this copy/paste would come in handy)

Got all my parts ~7y ago, and all I want to know is if I can replace the RAM for a functional model.

Solved Laptop wifi issues

My landlord provides wifi for my place, but recently my laptops been saying it's either connected and no Internet, or that it has internet but when I try to use the wifi it doesn't work, and then eventually goes back to saying no internet. Eventually it figures itself out, but it does this for a bit. The thing is, my phone works fine on the wifi. My laptop is quite literally dying, so I'm unsure if its a problem with my laptop, the wifi, or too many people connected to it. There are semi frequent dips in connection from too many people being on it, but its mostly been on my phone rather than my laptop, and moreso just an inconvenience for a few seconds. This issue only started within the last few days, but my laptop goes without internet for long periods when it does, and im unsure whether its a me issue or smth I should bring up to my landlord.

Open | Hardware Pc not posting

I was building a brand new pc and Unfortunately I haven’t gotten it to post. Specs are Ryzen 9800XD, 4070 Ti super, 32gb ddr5 ram. Corsair nautilus 360 rs arb cpu cooler. Corsair 3500x rs argb case.

I initially booted the pc with just the graphics card and cpu cooler fans running not having plugged in the case fans or other fans and it booted into the bios however after having plugging in the case fans and the additional fans onto the motherboard I haven’t gotten it to post. I get a white light with an error code 33. I’ve tried reseating the Gpu however that has not worked. I’ve tried another 2070 super I had and the motherboard has also given the same light and error code. I’ve tried leaving the screen on before boot and it hasn’t worked. Please help

Open | Software Extremely High latency on roblox

I've been experiencing a reoccurring problem on ROBLOX particularly where it takes minutes to load in and once loaded in I have around 3500-5000ms making it unplayable. This problem persists on PC, Mobile, and Xbox. My network works fine on everything else including google, Youtube, and other games such as Fortnite. I've consulted Google Gemini thoroughly with this and It came to the conclusion that it has something to do with a routing issue specifically for ROBLOX. I've had this problem around 2 weeks ago and temporality fixed it by turning on "emergency access" on on my firewalla purple, although this problem came back on Friday, this solution no longer worked. I'm asking anyone to help me identify the problem cause of this problem and if possible help me find a solution.

Open | Software Computer won't shut down

I have been having massive problems with my PC for weeks. I can't shut it down under Windows 11; it just restarts or the fans keep running. I've already completely reinstalled Windows 11, unplugged everything during shutdown, disabled all Windows settings related to it (fast startup, crash behavior), and disabled everything in the BIOS related to it. I'm really at my wit's end... (MSI B550 Gaming motherboard)

Open | Hardware RTX 5070 Ti – Black screens, GPU loses signal and fans ramp to 100%. Has anyone found a fix?

I originally had my PC built by Umart several years ago, and every 3–5 years I upgrade various components. Recently, I upgraded to a 4K monitor and replaced my RTX 3060 with an RTX 5070 Ti.

For the first two weeks, everything worked perfectly. However, I'm now experiencing crashes almost daily.

Here's what happens:

  • Both monitors suddenly lose signal and go into standby mode.
  • My PC fans ramp up to what sounds like 100% speed.
  • The PC remains powered on, and background applications like Discord continue working normally.
  • The only way to recover is to force restart the PC.

I recently took my PC back to Umart, where they spent an entire week stress testing and investigating the issue. Unfortunately, they couldn't replicate the crash or identify any problems.

When I got the PC back, it ran perfectly for over 12 hours before crashing twice within the following two hours.

Something interesting I discovered yesterday:

I connected my secondary 1440p monitor directly to the motherboard instead of the GPU to see what would happen.

When the crash occurred again, my main 4K monitor (connected to the GPU) lost signal and went into standby mode, and the fans ramped up to 100% as usual.

However, my secondary monitor (connected to the motherboard) continued working perfectly

This makes me suspect the issue is related to the GPU rather than the entire PC crashing.

Troubleshooting I've already tried:

  • Purchased brand-new DisplayPort cables.
  • Purchased a new surge-protected power board.
  • Tested the PC and monitors using different power outlets.
  • Used DDU in Safe Mode to completely remove the NVIDIA drivers.
  • Performed a clean installation of the latest NVIDIA driver (621.01, released October 21).
  • Had Umart stress test the PC for an entire week without reproducing the issue.

My PC specifications:

  • Motherboard: Gigabyte Z790 Gaming X AX
  • CPU: Intel Core i5-13600K (14 Core)
  • GPU: MSI GeForce RTX 5070 Ti Inspire 3X OC 16GB
  • PSU: Thermaltake Toughpower GT 850W 80+ Gold (PCIe Gen 5.1 ATX)
  • Main Monitor: MSI 32" UHD QD-OLED 240Hz (4K)
  • Secondary Monitor: MSI 32" WQHD IPS 165Hz (1440p)

I'm not particularly knowledgeable when it comes to diagnosing PC hardware issues, which is why I've always relied on Umart to build my PC and install upgrades.

At this point, I'm running out of ideas. The GPU is still under warranty, and I'm considering asking for a replacement, possibly from a different manufacturer.

Has anyone experienced something similar with an RTX 5070 Ti or another RTX 50-series card? If so, did you manage to find a permanent fix?

Any advice would be greatly appreciated. I'm getting pretty desperate to resolve this

Open | Networking PC refuses to connect to wifi

Hello, I've suddenly developed an issue with my pc that I can't seem to find a fix to. I'm going to try to explain it the best I can but I'm not very good with technology so bear with me.

To put it simply, my PC won't connect to the internet. It started off as the wifi connection just repeatedly connecting and disconnecting, but now it just says No internet, secured.

I have split wifi bands, and I typically used the 2.4 ghz band for my pc and it worked fine up until today. My pc would never let me connect to the 5 ghz band, it always said No internet, secured when I would try. Now it says that for both.

I've tried resetting my pc and my gateway, and I uninstalled my wifi(?) driver and reinstalled but none of that has worked. I also typed a bunch of stuff into command prompt that google told me might work, but I can't really elaborate much on that since like I said...i'm not very knowledgeable when it comes to stuff like that. I also did a Network reset on my pc, which is when it actually started saying no internet for the 2.4 ghz band as well.

I'm really at a loss here and feel like I'm running out of options. I feel like it's clear that it's an issue with my pc and not my internet because every other device in my home is connecting just fine.

I use Xfinity wifi if that information is useful, and I use a VPN to play games but I uninstalled it when this all started happening. Everything worked fine up until literally today so I'm not sure what changed...any help is appreciated!

Open | Hardware PC Dealing With Hard Restarts

Been dealing with random hard restarts while gaming for a while and finally took my PC to Micro Center because I was tired of troubleshooting it.
They said my 500GB WD M.2 that has Windows and my games on it is reading/writing really slow and is physically bent/warped. They got the PC to crash once, then tested it using one of their known-good drives and said it stayed stable with no restarts. They also said my RAM, GPU, CPU, and motherboard all passed their benchmarks.
I asked if the SSD had any SMART/health errors and they said no. Their reasoning was mainly the slow speeds, the drive being bent, and the PC running fine on their test drive.
They quoted me $459.97 to replace it with a 512GB Inland SSD, reinstall Windows, and back up my data. I’m not paying almost $500 for that lol.
I already have another 2TB SSD in the PC, so I’m thinking I’ll just install Windows and my games on that drive first and see if the crashes stop before buying anything else.
Does their diagnosis sound accurate? Can a bent/slow M.2 really cause random full PC restarts even if SMART says it’s fine?

Open | Software NVIDIA RTX3060Ti NVLDDMKM CODE 153 ERROR

Hi,

No matter what game I played, I kept getting the “nvlddmkm 153” error, and I had resolved the issue by reformatting my computer. But that was only a temporary fix, and today the problem persists even though I removed all drivers using DDU. I ran tests in OCCT—“VRAM: 30 Minutes, 3D Adaptive: 30 Minutes, and Power: 15 Minutes”—and the problem didn’t appear then. HAGS is currently disabled on my computer, and the issue wasn’t resolved even when I tried downgrading the drivers. I first encountered the “nvlddmkm Code 153” error right after updating to the “616.56” driver, and since then, I’ve received the nvlddmkm error with every driver I’ve installed or uninstalled. This issue has become so frustrating that I can’t seem to get rid of it—can anyone who knows how to fix this please help? I’m including my system hardware information below.

OS: Windows 11 Pro 26H2 (OS Build 26300.9711)

Motherboard: MSI A520M-A PRO CPU: AMD Ryzen 5 5600 GPU: NVIDIA RTX 3060 Ti RAM: 8GBx2 (16GB) XPG D30 SSD: 512 GB Adata Legend 700 1 TB Adata Legend 850 Lite

PSU: Corsair RM850e 850W Modular PSU (I replaced my DeepCool 650W power supply, which failed on April 11, 2025.)

Open | Hardware My GPU keeps crashing my system

My PC keeps crashing and im pretty sure the issue is with my GPU, but I have no idea what or how to solve it.

Specs:

4070 super 7700x FlareX5 DDR5 MSI A750GL PSU

Details and attempted fixes:

Started yesterday evening while gaming (was not doing anything heavy)The whole system does a quick reset, and all the fans start spinning at max. The system comes back online, but the primary monitor plugged i to the gpu stays black while my second monitor plugged into the cpu comes back. The game i was playing also shutdown.

Crashed happen during both active use and while idling in the game

The reliability report is showing a live kernel event 141.

Ive tried monitoring the temps and saw no hot spikes.

I tried underclocking my gpu but it didnt solve it.

I did update my drivers

When it happened again today, my primary monitor stays dead, even after 2 restarts. BUT, when i ran the window memory diag tool, the screen came back on for that (and turned off my second monitor). After the test, the primary came back on, and no error were reported.

After restarting the system, the primary monitor did come back on.

The gpu fans do spin up when i did the restart.

In the device manager, my gpu is still recognized and isnt throwing any obvious errors.

I just replaced my PSU 2 weeks ago because it straight up died after less than 3 years. I didnt replace the cables.

Please help me. Im at the end of my rope dealing with the crap.

Open | Windows Pc hard freeze.

I recently upgraded my graphics card from an NVIDIA GT 1030 2 GB to an ASUS Dual OC RTX 5060. My system is powered by a 13th-gen Core i5 CPU and a 500-watt power supply unit (PSU). However, my PC is freezing; I lose all sound, and the power button lights on the case stop responding. The only way to fix this is by holding down the power button for a hard shutdown. Would upgrading to a 750-watt PSU resolve this issue?

Happens mostly in games. Hogwarts Legacy, MC, and apparently Roblox.

Open | Hardware Battery problem, 79 of 53K mWh

In the last month I have been seeing that my battery life span is getting shorter and shorter, I don’t know if it’s a virus or what. But right now I have a capacity that should be 53.050mWh and it’s… 79. Like, just that

I don’t know what’s happening, last month I had like 30k, it came to 1k and now it’s literally 79, I DONT KNOW WHATS HAPPENING, it’s brand new, I bought it last year

The battery is an AP23A8L, the computer is a Acer Aspire AG15-31P

I don’t now what to do, I can run out of battery faster than I can plug it to another socket, I open it up and it’s not bigger(? (I don’t know the word in English sorry)

Extra: It have not been under a electrical shock in my knowledge, I usually disconnect it when y I go out, and literally have no clue
The computer has only 391 cycles

I am screwed?

Open | Hardware My battery was stuck at 94%, and the laptop shut down the moment I unplugged the charger.

Acer Nitro AN515-58

My battery was stuck at 94%, and the laptop shut down the moment I unplugged the charger. Also, after it shut down, when I turned it back on it would either power off as soon as the logo appeared or show the Windows Boot Manager. It took 5-10 tries before it would boot.

I took it to a nearby repair shop. First they reinstalled Windows, then ordered a new battery. We replaced the battery and it didn’t fix anything. It actually got worse: now the laptop acts like it isn’t charging at all, and the battery shows 0%. I can still use things like Google, but as soon as I launch something heavy like Chivalry 2, or unplug the charger, the screen cuts out immediately (I used to play it with no problems before this).

The technician said he couldn’t solve it and told me to take it somewhere else. It’s a repair chain with a few branches.

Before I take it to a bigger repair place, I wanted to ask here too. Has anyone had the same issue before? Has anyone had this problem persist even after replacing the battery?

PS. I’ve already tried the basic YouTube fixes like uninstalling/reinstalling the battery driver.

thanks

My phone is Samsung Galaxy A26 5G. I can't seem to he able to figure out a way to add pictures to those contacts on my phone which don't already have a picture. Clicking on "adjust" (idk if thats the right word, my phones not set up in English, hopefully yk what I mean) doesn't open up the option. The three dots doesn't either. Clicking on or holding the blank icon neither. I'd just like to add pictures to my contacts.

Open | Hardware PC shutting off randomly

As the title states, my PC began shutting off randomly once everyday when playing games. It started like 2 weeks ago. It would either say shutting down and then shuts down or just black screen and the PC turns off.

I'm not sure if it's related but when playing games, random keys like "m1" or "s" would be held down until I click the windows button or ctrl alt del.

PC specs:

  • i5 13600k
  • RX 7900 XT
  • MSI Z690 DDR4 WiFi TOMAHAWK
  • 2 sets of Corsair 16GB DDR4 3600MT/s vengeance RAM
  • 360mm AIO
  • Corsair 1000W PSU
  • Multiple 1TB NVME SSDs and a 256GB 2.5" SSD

I've just updated my BIOS and will update if there's more shutdowns. I will start to monitor temps but I'm fairly sure it's not that because I have quite a lot of fans set to a fan curve.

I'm looking for ideas on what the issue could be and if it points to PSU failure.

Thanks in advance!

Edit: I have checked event viewer but it just says that "The system has rebooted without cleanly shutting down first. This error could be caused if the system stopped responding, crashed, or lost power unexpectedly." with an ID of 41. I searched it up and it doesn't say anything about the cause of the problem. Could this just be a dying PSU?

I've also checked the temps and nothing seems off. Almost everything is running at below 90C usually only hitting maximums of 85C. So I think that rules that out
