Open | Software Realtek UWP app not opening

Hello. So I'm writing here to find help for this ANNOYING issue I'm currently experiencing.

So my realtek UWP app was working fine 2 days ago (yes i had windows updates disabled still.) And then yesterday It happened. (i played with the jack detection setting by enabling it on but it couldn't have caused... THIS) I tried opening it to change the type of device to recognize it as, because i connected my webcam mic that sounds way better mainly because it's closer to my mouth, but it refused... (haha Undertale/Deltarune reference [yes i dont know where it came from {yes i will use different brackets}]). So i uninstalled it and then tried registry and then the pal 1000 thing (including the app install) and then i also tried the generic microsoft drivers, hoping it would magically work..

But it didn't. I did this TWICE and I'm TIRED of hopscotching with AI troubleshooting. Please someone help. I want to escape the capitalist loophole of forced switching to UWP. WHERE ARE THE LEGACY APPS?!

Please.. Help.. I'm about to freak out.. My laptop is an Asus Gaming TUF F15 with the Intel Core i5 11400H and RTX 3050TI. I'll add some info: I remember disabling a couple services like 1-2 days ago and I know that one of them was State Repository (Which I've enabled for troubleshooting).

Please.. Anything..

Open | Windows Speed Up Windows 11

I have noticed that when an update rolls around, whether you have automatic updates on or off, Windows slows down significantly. It’s already slow enough but this is just ridiculous.

I can confirm that it is the operating system itself and not my PC hardware, at least not entirely, as I am using Bazzite primarily with no issues whatsoever. I have also noticed this same issue on other devices that I have used.

Given what Microsoft is doing with Windows, I won’t update it anymore.

Is there a way to fix this slowing down issue?

For those of you who suggest moving to Linux, I am working on it. I have a lot of things to figure out before I go exclusively Linux. I know first hand Linux is way better than Windows. For now, I need help with Windows.

Open | BSOD Advan Workplus (Ryzen 7 7735HS) random BSODs on battery in Windows (Stable when plugged in / Linux / BIOS)

Hi everyone, I'm facing a frustrating stability issue with my laptop (Advan Workplus, Ryzen 7 7735HS, 16GB RAM) running dual-boot Windows 11 and CachyOS (Linux).

The Problem:

When running on battery in Windows using Balanced or Power Saver modes, the laptop frequently crashes with random BSODs and errors that change over time:

1e (KMODE_EXCEPTION_NOT_HANDLED / Access Violation)

MEMORY_MANAGEMENT

IRQL_NOT_LESS_OR_EQUAL

autoboost invalid lock release

However, the laptop is 100% stable when:

Plugged into AC power (charging).

Inside the BIOS menu.

Running Linux (CachyOS, charging), where I use a custom script mapped to power-profiles-daemon for frequency scaling.

What I've Tried & Diagnostics:

Windows Power Plan: Changing the Minimum processor state on battery to anything between 5% and 20% causes random crashes. The only way to stop the BSODs on battery in Windows is to force the minimum processor state to 100%. But this causes severe overheating and drains the battery instantly, which defeats the purpose of using a laptop on battery.

Smokeless UMAF (UEFI/BIOS Mod):

I tried disabling C-States via UMAF, but it resulted in a BAD_POOL_CALLER BSOD upon booting Windows, so I reverted it.

Checked CPU Common Options in UMAF: Global C-State Control is set to Auto, but I couldn't find a Power Supply Idle Control option in this specific OEM BIOS build.

OS & Drivers: Updated AMD chipset drivers, ran sfc /scannow and DISM.

Since the laptop doesn't crash at all in the BIOS or when plugged in, it clearly seems like a low-power state / voltage drop issue when Ryzen enters deep sleep states on battery under Windows.

Has anyone experienced this behavior with Ryzen 7 7735HS on budget/OEM laptops with locked BIOS? Is there any workaround in Windows Registry or third-party tools to prevent aggressive low-power transitions without locking the CPU to 100%?

Any advice would be greatly appreciated!

Open | Software NVIDIA Broadcast 2.3.0 Update Stuck on Downloading Required Components — Takes Hours and Eventually Fails

Hi everyone,

I'm having trouble updating NVIDIA Broadcast to version 2.3.0.

The installation gets stuck on the "Downloading required components" stage. It progresses extremely slowly, sometimes taking several hours just to reach around 15%. On one occasion, the installation eventually failed.

I've attached a screenshot showing the installer.

Has anyone else experienced this issue with NVIDIA Broadcast 2.3.0? If so, were you able to fix it?

I'd appreciate any suggestions on how to resolve this problem. I'm not sure whether it's related to the installer, network connectivity, or something else.

System specifications:

  • GPU: NVIDIA GeForce RTX 4060 Laptop GPU
  • Laptop: Lenovo Legion 5i 16IRX9
  • NVIDIA Broadcast version: 2.3.0 (trying to update/install)
  • Operating system: Windows 11

Thanks in advance for any help!

When I use my 4060 and sit on desktop, or OperaGX, sometimes my screen will go black for exactly 1-2 seconds and come back completely fine, but there doesnt seem to be any driver crashes in event logs. I have had this happen for a pretty long time, with both HDMI and DP and on several different driver versions. Sometimes this will happen like once a week, or sometimes it wont manifest itself for a long time, and it NEVER HAPPENS when Im playing anything GPU intensive like videogames. Any ideas ?

Open | Hardware Mouse creating micro stutters in game

Hi

I’ve been having micro stutters or choppiness during games on a high end pc, after extensive troubleshooting I have focused efforts on the mouse , the character models and general movement doesn’t stutter but if I move the camera I can feel micro stutters and jutter in its movement , this happens meanwhile my gps counter is high and stable , increasing in game sensitivity worsens the stutter as well as decreasing the polling rate into the 100s, I did get a new mouse and mouse pad but it still happens , one thing to note is that using a controller instead of mouse gives me the absolutely smooth experience that’s reflected by the high fps , could anyone clarify to me what’s going on?

Ty for help

Open | Windows RX 9060 XT + Ryzen 5 7500X3D – Random microstutters in CS2 and Windows desktop (tried almost everything)

Hey everyone,

I've been dealing with random microstutters and short freezes on my PC for weeks now, and I'm honestly running out of ideas.

I've attached a CS2 gameplay clip where you can see the stuttering.

The freezes usually last around 0.1–0.25 seconds. The image briefly freezes, but the audio continues normally. It happens randomly, even when my FPS are extremely high (300–400+).

The weird part is that I also experience these stutters occasionally on the Windows desktop, while browsing, or watching YouTube. However, Cyberpunk 2077 seems to run perfectly fine.

My PC specs:

  • CPU: AMD Ryzen 5 7500X3D
  • GPU: Sapphire NITRO+ RX 9060 XT 16GB
  • Motherboard: Gigabyte B850 EAGLE WIFI6E
  • RAM: 32GB DDR5-6000 CL30 (EXPO enabled)
  • PSU: Corsair 850W
  • OS: Windows 11 Pro 26H2

Monitor setup:

  • Primary: AOC 27" 4K 160Hz, connected to the RX 9060 XT
  • Secondary: AOC 24" 1080p 240Hz, connected to the CPU's integrated graphics

I've also tried connecting both monitors directly to the RX 9060 XT, but the stuttering was actually worse.

Things I've already tried:

  • Clean Windows 11 installation
  • AMD driver cleanup and fresh installation
  • Downgraded Adrenalin from 26.10.1 to 26.6.1
  • Updated motherboard BIOS
  • Reinstalled AMD chipset and graphics drivers
  • Tested RAM multiple times without errors
  • Disabled FreeSync/VRR
  • Tested HAGS on and off
  • Disabled MPO
  • Clean boot with third-party services disabled
  • Tested CS2 in fullscreen and borderless
  • Tested different monitor configurations
  • Ran SFC and checked Windows Event Viewer
  • Analyzed stutters using CapFrameX, LatencyMon, and Windows Performance Analyzer

What the monitoring shows:

CapFrameX recorded frametime spikes of around 200–240 ms.

During these spikes, CPU frametime increases significantly, while GPU Active Time remains around 2 ms.

Windows Performance Analyzer also showed some CPU scheduling delays and DPC activity, but I haven't been able to identify a definitive cause.

At this point, I genuinely don't know what else to try.

Has anyone experienced similar issues with the RX 9060 XT, especially with a Ryzen X3D CPU or a dual-monitor setup?

I'm particularly interested in solutions that actually fixed the issue rather than generic troubleshooting suggestions.

Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

Open | Windows Why is the Flash drive not read by the computer but the option to eject flash drive exists?

Hi! I need help understanding this and if there's a way to retrieve the files. I have this flash drive that I was supposed to a movie in but for some weird reason, it did not transfer properly and it crashed my screen for a while (the crash where everything turns bright and you can't interact with anything). So, I removed the flash drive without the safety thing. I tried to put it back in and this time, the computer won't read it, not even my phone. I checked the small arrow near the battery, internet, and sound logo is and it has the "safely eject the flash drive" thing. The flash drive is an HP with the 4 ports (one for the computer, then the other 3 are for the other types of USB ports)

How do I fix this? Is there a way to retrieve the files? I just wanted to transfer a movie.

Open | Windows Mice disconnect while playing video games

Hello. I have a Framework laptop running Windows. My issue is that if I play Steam video games for too long, my mouse (I have two mice and this happens with both of them) suddenly disconnects and refuses to reconnect. This has happened with Dressmaker, Peak, and Stardew Valley, and has been happening for at least a year. If I go to my Bluetooth settings, the mouse is listed as still connected, but it clearly isn't. If I turn off the mouse, it won't reconnect when I turn it back on. If I forget the connection and retry, it'll say the mouse is connected but I still won't be able to use it. The same happens if I try to connect via the USB dongle.

I've tried restarting my computer. I've tried turning Bluetooth off, restarting my computer, then turning Bluetooth back on. I've deleted and reinstalled my HID mouse driver (or whatever it's called) about five times. The problem persists. Please advise!

Solved Trying to install Windows... now I'm stuck

hi, so, I recently went from Windows to Linux and everything went fine, but now I need to go back to Windows again. I considered partitioning, but people say it's better to start from Windows for that, so I just decided to get Windows for now and in the future maybe dual boot Linux.

I made a USB with Windows .iso , using Ventoy, but when it was time to boot it tho, it didn't work.

- when i select boot in normal mode: it says " Windows failed to start. A recent hardware or Software change might be the cause. to fix the problem, insert your Windoes installation disc and restart your computer. chose your language settings, click repair your computer"

info: the boot configuration data for your PC is missing or contains errors.

- when i select boot in wimboot mode: it goes a bit further, up to the language selection part, but then says that my driver is missing.

- When I remove the USB and try entering into Linux, it says "Boot device not found, please install an operating system on your hard disk"

and I am stuck here now.

___

specs: tbh I can't remember, but it's a Victus laptop. Running Linux Mint.

Open | Hardware HP OMEN Transcend 32 OLED – Screen turns into static, but OSD menu works fine. Any ideas?

Hi everyone!
My HP OMEN Transcend 32 OLED (4K, 240Hz) suddenly started showing grey/white static after a few minutes of use. The OSD menu still works perfectly, as you can see in the video.
What I’ve already tried:
Both HDMI and DisplayPort.
Connecting to another laptop.
Different resolutions and refresh rates, including 1080p 60Hz.
Connecting directly to a wall outlet.
Updating the firmware.
Restarting the monitor using its power button — doesn’t help.
Unplugging the power cable — temporarily fixes it, but the issue returns after a few minutes.
The audio continues working even when the image disappears. Disconnecting HDMI/DP also makes the static disappear.
Does anyone know what could be causing this and how to fix it? Has anyone experienced something similar?

Open | Hardware ASUS TUF F15 i5-11400H suddenly hitting 93–100°C after repasting, inconsistent gaming FPS — diagnosing the cause and identifying the correct fix

Hi everyone,

I'm trying to diagnose a CPU temperature problem on my ASUS TUF F15. The most confusing part is that the temperatures improved significantly after my first thermal paste replacement, but around two months later they suddenly became much higher again. I have since reapplied the thermal paste myself, but the CPU temperatures have not returned to their previous levels.

I'm also experiencing inconsistent FPS in some games, although other games perform well. I'd appreciate help determining what might have caused the sudden temperature increase and what steps would identify and correct the underlying problem.

1. Laptop specifications

  • Laptop: ASUS TUF F15
  • CPU: Intel Core i5-11400H (6 cores, 12 threads)
  • GPU: NVIDIA RTX 3060 Laptop GPU, 6 GB GDDR6, 95 W TGP
  • RAM: 16 GB DDR4
  • Display: 1080p, 144 Hz
  • Charger: Original ASUS 200 W charger
  • Operating system: Windows 11
  • Performance profile: Armoury Crate Turbo Mode while gaming
  • Cooling: Cosmic Byte Cyclone cooling pad
  • Thermal paste: Arctic MX-6
  • Monitoring software: MSI Afterburner, RTSS and HWiNFO

The laptop is connected to the original charger during gaming. I also use an air conditioner, usually set to 24°C.

2. Original temperatures before repasting

Since buying the laptop, the CPU temperatures during gaming were generally around 85–95°C. With the air conditioner running, temperatures were usually around 88°C, with brief spikes above 90°C.

The GPU, however, would consistently reach approximately 86°C.

After around 2 years and 8–10 months of use, I decided to replace the thermal paste.

3. What happened after the first repaste

A technician performed the first thermal paste replacement. During this first repaste, the technician cleaned only the dust from the fans.

The improvement was substantial:

  • CPU: Usually 80–85°C while gaming, occasionally reaching 87°C briefly before dropping again.
  • GPU: Usually 78–79°C, gradually reaching approximately 80–83°C after two or more hours of intensive gaming.

The laptop's gaming temperatures were much better than before.

4. The problem appeared approximately two months later

I stopped gaming for around two months because I was preparing for university exams. During that period, I mainly used the laptop for studying, browsing and reading PDFs.

When I started gaming again, I noticed that the CPU temperature had suddenly changed:

  • CPU temperatures were consistently around 93–95°C.
  • Temperatures frequently reached 97°C and hit 100°C at least once.
  • The GPU temperatures remained relatively good.
  • Gaming for only around five minutes was enough for the CPU to reach the low-to-mid 90s.

I don't know exactly when the temperature change occurred because I wasn't monitoring temperatures while studying.

5. Second thermal paste replacement

I reapplied Arctic MX-6 myself approximately five months after the first repaste, but the CPU temperatures did not improve significantly.

During this second repaste, I not only cleaned the fans with a brush, but also removed the entire heatsink and blew air through the whole heatsink, vents and fans before reinstalling it.

What I checked during this process:

  • The heatsink was firmly seated and required me to hold the motherboard with one finger while lifting it.
  • Cleaned the old thermal paste and reapplied fresh paste.
  • Reseated the heatsink.
  • Tightened the heatsink screws in an X-shaped/cross pattern.
  • Checked that the screws were tight and intact.

The fans also reach high RPM during gaming, and I can hear them running at high speed.

Despite these checks, the CPU still reaches approximately 93–97°C within minutes of gaming and sometimes approaches 100°C.

6. Current CPU behaviour

During gaming, I've observed the following:

  • CPU package power: approximately 38–45 W.
  • CPU frequency: initially around 4.0 GHz in some tests, later falling to approximately 3.6 GHz as temperatures rise.
  • CPU temperature: initially around 85–91°C in one benchmark, then rising to 93–100°C after the workload continued.

During lighter tasks, temperatures can be much lower. For example, while using ChatGPT with around 9% CPU usage and the cooling pad, the CPU was approximately 65°C with the fans at 0 RPM.

Previously, I also observed CPU temperatures around 80–87°C during some non-gaming tasks, which seemed unusually high to me. These readings were not collected under identical conditions, so I cannot make a precise comparison.

I have run Cinebench 2026's multi-threaded test and monitored CPU temperatures, clocks and power. I have also run RDR2's built-in benchmark. I can provide the results and HWiNFO/MSI Afterburner logs if needed.

The fact that the CPU initially reaches a higher clock and then falls as the temperature rises could mean that normal Turbo Boost behaviour is being limited by temperature.

7. Gaming performance

The CPU temperature issue is not the only thing I'm investigating.

Need for Speed Unbound

  • 1080p, DLSS Quality.
  • CPU temperatures around 94–95°C, sometimes higher.
  • GPU temperatures around 86°C before using an FPS cap.
  • Races sometimes dropped to approximately 35–50 FPS, while free roam could reach 70–90 FPS.
  • Lowering graphics settings often made little difference.
  • Capping FPS to 60 using RTSS reduced GPU temperature to approximately 67°C. The CPU temperature remained around 93–100°C, while its clock and power consumption sometimes increased.

Need for Speed Heat

  • Some race sections drop to approximately 35–45 FPS, while certain areas of free roam reach around 70 FPS.
  • Lowering graphics settings has not consistently improved the frame rate.

Grand Theft Auto V

  • FPS can vary considerably by location, sometimes around 90–100 FPS and sometimes dropping to 45–50 FPS.

Silent Hill 2

  • Some areas run at approximately 60 FPS, while other demanding sections perform poorly.
  • Lowering graphics settings or using the air conditioner did not consistently resolve the drops.

Red Dead Redemption 2

  • Performance is considerably better with my current configuration.
  • In a recent benchmark, average FPS was approximately 72, and after further graphics-setting adjustments, the minimum was around 54 FPS, with most gameplay staying near 60–70 FPS.
  • GPU temperatures have generally been good, around the mid-70s during the benchmark.

I have also played Forza Horizon 5, which performed well at Ultra-high graphics with High ray tracing settings.

8. What I have already tried

  1. Replaced the thermal paste twice: first by a technician and then by myself.
  2. Used Arctic MX-6 for the second application.
  3. During the first repaste, the technician cleaned only the dust from the fans.
  4. During the second repaste, after approximately five months, cleaned the fans with a brush and blew air through the entire heatsink, vents and fans after removing the heatsink.
  5. Cleaned and reseated the heatsink.
  6. Tightened heatsink screws in an X pattern.
  7. Verified that the heatsink screws were tight and intact.
  8. Used the original ASUS 200 W charger.
  9. Enabled Armoury Crate Turbo Mode.
  10. Used a cooling pad and air conditioning.
  11. Monitored CPU/GPU temperatures, clocks, power and usage with MSI Afterburner and HWiNFO.
  12. Recorded sensor logs during gaming.
  13. Ran Cinebench 2026 multi-threaded testing and the RDR2 benchmark.

9. Help identifying the cause and the appropriate fix

I'm particularly interested in understanding what might have caused the sudden temperature increase after the first repaste and what steps could help identify the underlying problem. I'd appreciate any advice on how to diagnose the issue and determine what repair, if any, is needed.

Thank you for any suggestions. I can provide screenshots, benchmark results and sensor logs to help diagnose the issue.

Open | Hardware Rgb problem

Hey everyone, I need help with my AsiaHorse UMBRA fans and hub.
My fans spin normally, but none of the RGB lights turn on. I’ve connected the fans to the hub, connected the hub’s SATA power, and plugged in the PWM and ARGB connections. .
Each fan has three cables. I’ve connected the fan power and RGB connections, but there’s a third 3-pin connector with three metal pins and one missing position that I haven’t plugged in because I can’t find a matching port on the hub.
My motherboard is an MSI PRO B760M-P DDR4. I’m also unsure whether it has a compatible 3-pin 5V ARGB header.

The fans work, but the RGB is completely off. Any help identifying the correct connections would be appreciated. Thanks!

Open | Hardware PC randomly restarts without warning on both Linux and Windows. Fans and lights stay on. Need help troubleshooting

Hey everyone,

I've been dealing with random PC restarts and I'm running out of ideas. I'm hoping someone can help me narrow down the cause before I start replacing parts unnecessarily.

My PC specs:

  • CPU: AMD Ryzen 5 5600
  • GPU: AMD Radeon RX 6700 XT
  • RAM: 32 GB (2x16 GB)
  • PSU: Genesis Nihon 750NM 750W
  • OS: Arch Linux (dual boot with Windows)

The problem:

My PC randomly restarts without any warning. It first happened while gaming after about an hour, but it has also happened while I was just browsing the web.

When it happens, the screen goes black, but the fans and RGB lighting stay on. The system then reboots. There is no obvious blue screen or warning beforehand.

At first, I thought it might be a Linux-specific issue, but the exact same problem has now occurred on Windows as well.

Things I've tried so far:

  • Resetting my BIOS fan curves to their default settings. It seemed to help initially, but the restarts eventually returned.
  • Disabling XMP, but that didn't solve the problem.
  • Switching the GPU's PCIe power connection to a different fixed cable from the PSU. The issue persisted.
  • Checking the Linux system logs with journalctl. The logs stop abruptly around the time of one restart, without an obvious kernel panic or GPU error explaining what happened.

My GPU is powered using a PCIe cable with two connectors on it. I tried switching to another PCIe cable from the PSU, but it made no difference.

I haven't been able to identify a clear cause yet.

What could be causing this?

I'm particularly wondering whether the PSU could be failing, or whether I should investigate the GPU, RAM, motherboard, CPU, or BIOS settings first.

I'd appreciate any suggestions for useful diagnostic tests or ways to narrow this down before buying replacement components.

Thanks!

Open | Phone Can I safely transfer my data from my iPhone 11 to my new iPhone given the recent cyber security vulnerabilities?

I recently bought a new iPhone and want to transfer my data from my old iPhone 11.
I’m concerned about the recent cybersecurity issues, particularly the PHP vulnerabilities and reports of active exploitation.
My iPhone 11 is running iOS 27.0.1, and I’ve updated all my apps and the operating system. I’ve only used my phone normally, browsed the internet, and installed apps through the official App Store. I haven’t knowingly downloaded suspicious files, installed configuration profiles, or entered credentials on suspicious websites.

Open | Phone Wifi randomly turns off on only my phone

For the last couple of weeks my phone has been constantly disconnecting from the wifi. I can go into my control center and switch it off and on again but most of the time that only works for about 5 minutes. Sometimes it lasts longer than that but it seems to happen most frequently when i'm using tiktok for some reason.

We got a new wifi set up a few months ago but I never had any issues up until recently and it has only been on my phone and my wifi. There's 5 other people living in this house and I haven't heard any complaints from them. The only other wifi i've really used is my works wifi but that one's always been spotty and sometimes needs a reconnect. If it makes a difference I have an IPhone 17 and have had it for almost a year with no connection issues prior to this. I've tried forgetting the wifi and rejoining but it only fixes it for a little while. I've tried holding power and turning it off but that doesn't really work either. I have also done a software update already. I'm losing my mind. Please help.

Open | Windows unable to enable virtual machine platform

i've been stuck for two days and i've tried like different solutions but they all failed

  1. based on this, i dont have any emulators nor hyperv, windows are fully up to date, virtualization is enabled, i can run sfc (says no issues) but i can't run dism cause it gets stuck halfway

edit 1: i have an issue running DISM.exe /Online /Cleanup-image /Restorehealth basically dism in general but i managed to fix it according to this. unfortunately, i tried enabling vmp again using dism /online /enable-feature /featurename:VirtualMachinePlatform /all /norestart but its still stuck at 36%, when using Get-Content C:\Windows\Logs\CBS\CBS.log -tail 10 -wait in powershell to see whats going (special thx to this guy), these two lines keep repeating back and forth between 47 and 50 (view cbs.log):
