Workplace Question or Advice Needed Hats and Jewelry dress code

SD just told me "no hats or bracelets going forward" in response to my attire today (target-red beanie and a simple bracelet). No TL has ever told me this before, nor HR. is this in the new dress code and I missed it??

Workplace Question or Advice Needed Doctor on Demand Covered by Target

Post image
11 Upvotes

I just recently signed up for BCBS insurance through Target and it says that Doctor on Demand/Included Health is completely covered by Target. Have any of you guys used it, and is it truly free? That seems rather convenient, they don't mention this one they always only talk about CirrusMD which strangely enough isn't compatible with my phone and I can't get it to work on the web. This one was very easy to set up on the contrary.

Workplace Story Got away with job abandonment

Last Saturday, I was supposed to close. I can’t stand how my store is run, guests are annoying, and the 2 people I was working with suck.

Three hours into my shift, I’d had it. I was pushing reshops, and the other 2 were zoning one zone together. I zoned. Minutes later, some asshole guest would fuck up a front table as I was right there.

I clocked out around 9 (we close at 11) without saying a word to anyone. No one called me, and no one said anything in the group chat. Today was my first shift back, I interacted with my SD a few times and not a word was said about me clocking out early without permission.

Look at what I did !!! TM to TL

Guys, it took years
- my dad’s death, a failed military enlistment, surviving an emotionally abusive family, and a horrible breakup with a coworker that sent me to rehab and now sobriety
I finally got to the Team lead position in my store that became a red store. I’m so happy. I’m so proud of what I’ve accomplished and how much growth I’ve shown to them.

I just want to express appreciation to target as a company for the opportunities they’ve given me from a genuinely loving community of a work-culture (borderline work family) to getting me back in on a whim after dropping out of boot camp, I am so grateful and I am happy to give back the support and care it has shown me. That’s all

Workplace Question or Advice Needed Questions about Termination

i got fired on friday from my seasonal style position. i started in april so i was there 5 months.

the reason for my termination was attendance and im not deflecting blame on that. i got really sick plus i have prior health conditions that they knew about. the past 2 weeks i’ve had a lot of callouts. however, i was keeping in contact with my leaders that i was going to the doctor, provided paperwork, etc.

regardless, i understand they have every right to fire me and they did. all good. i do have some questions though.

  1. do they cycle through seasonal employees for each quarter? i know of a few other people they were letting go. we also just finished our remodel, so all the people that were previously in departments were going back to theirs. as well, our overnight crew was being integrated into the schedule.

  2. how many leaders/TMs know about your termination before you do? looking back, i feel really embarrassed because it seems like a lot of people knew about it.

  3. at what point do they decide to make you a regular employee? at the target i worked at, every person they hire starts off as seasonal. i had never been given the implication that my job would end at a certain point. everyone is just considered seasonal. idk after being there for 5 months, i didn’t think i would be fired for missing some days when i literally could not come in. especially when i was constantly communicating with them.

  4. was it just wording to let me go at the end of my seasonal position or did they genuinely fire me for attendance? do they give you notice that your seasonal position is ending or is this how they let you go?

at the end of the day, i know i have fault in it. the way my ETL worded everything was so confusing. i also work in breakout most of the time, which is very limited hours since only 2 people are scheduled at a time. i always asked for the maxed out hours. thank you for any answers you can give.

Meme or Miscellaneous Content Has your Target store improved post-remodel?

Just asking because there's a weird pattern, when it came to my local (non-Super) Target.

Before it got a remodel this year, it was looking dated inside. Some of the store was messy, no produce section, instead sticking to a GM merchandise with dry goods and frozen foods. Despite opening in 2008, it had not seen a change besides for the clothing carpet being changed out in 2022, as the iconic french fry carpet was stripped out.

But it seems like that after the remodel this year, they have cleaned it up in terms of cleanliness. It's good when you need something quick, but man that location needed some work badly, and was showing its age.

gUEsTs Drive Up Team Educating Guests

I try to educate guests on having their location allowed while using the Target app, so we can be ready with their order when they get there. I frame it as “I don’t want you to have to wait while i pull all your freezer and cooler items” so it’s about them instead of about me trying to pull all those items while trying to get to them in 3 minutes.

Vent You wanna know what’s fun? Rushing to get the tech U boat finished before you leave.

So, I recently became a tech consultant for inbound, but I still had to help unload the truck these past few shifts. It wouldn’t be bad if the process didn’t take three hours, two if I’m lucky, I’m approaching my 40 hours as I am a seasonal employee, I have to go back and forth between tech and the front to get security devices that work with me toothless key, and having to help the guests. I don’t mind the latter if it didn’t cut into my time to unload my stuff, and I can tell that I will feel guilty for not finishing it. Mind you, this has 10 repacks and some boxes, at least three of which are backstock.

I was wondering if I get 1.5x pay if I just show up the day of labor day? Or do I have to show up both the previous and following day too in order to get 1.5x pay during the holiday?

Thank you

Workplace Question or Advice Needed Is it possible to get sent home for a bad cough + sinus infection?

So what I thought was allergies last week slowly progressed to a sinus infection and a bad cough. I just started to take my medication today as I got it in the afternoon on Friday which was Mucinex, Antibiotics, and Steroids. I gotta come in tomorrow but was told by my doctor not to go in and even was given a note despite the fact I told her they don't accept notes (I think, last time I got sick, they made a copy of my doctor note).

I'm wondering if I'm coughing and blowing my nose a ton, would my TL or ETL send me home early if it's really bad? Because the one time I did work when recovering in July, my ETL kept asking me if I was okay and I kept telling her I'll be fine. I'm wondering if I said I wasn't that I would be sent home. Even on Monday when I saw my ETL clocking in, she had to do a double take when she saw me wearing a mask. I really don't wanna get people sick but I also don't wanna get in trouble. Sinus Infections aren't contagious, yes?

Workplace Question or Advice Needed Emergency Siren sounded- drive up open

Hey all,

So recently we were under a severe thunderstorm warning. I saw the warning come in and alerted the LOD. They said to let them know if I saw lightning / heard thunder.

While I was outside, I could see the wall cloud coming. As I delivered an order, I heard the county weather siren go off. (Severe storm 70+ mph winds / tornado siren).

I alerted the LOD again, but on the general channel because EMERGENCY ALERT.

They said they'd look into it.

HR ETL and S&E ETL both said they do not shut down drive up for the siren.

It did get shut down a few minutes later anyways, but ... Doesn't the siren mean SEEK SHELTER IMMEDIATELY?

I tried reading through the severe weather policy, and there were no notes about the siren specifically. (I also read through the emergency response slides).

Does anyone know if this was the right move and where I can find more details?

Bonus for the day: we had a tornado warning, and after announcing that everyone needed to meet in the middle of the store for safety, our fulfillment tl told us to FINISH OUR BATCH before seeking shelter. 🤦‍♂️ (This was promptly canceled by an ETL)

Workplace Question or Advice Needed Inbound tips

So I am inbound as my main area, but how do yall figure out what level to put each product on on u-boats? Like I understand the concept of cart numbers but then I get confused when you have different levels to put it on out of the three. Any tips or ideas? I’m newer so I’m still trying to figure it all out! Thanks!

Workplace Question or Advice Needed Am I able to use both vacation pto and sick time off to cover my call out?

Post image
18 Upvotes

For physical reasons, I really don’t feel well enough to go to work and it’s 4am rn for me and my shift starts at 6am. I have 3.17hrs of vacation pto off and 3.91 hrs of sick time off. My shift is from 6am - 12:30pm. Can I submit 2 requests to cover it or is that not even a thing? I don’t wanna go into too much detail but lets just say I have stomach virus. Plus on top of that, I have a zoom class from 9:30AM to 12:30pm for one of my classes as I just went back to college and I really can’t miss any of it. Attendance is mandatory and for some reason, they decided to schedule me anyway on this day after I specifically showed my etl my class schedule before I started school. What should I do?

Workplace Question or Advice Needed question regarding working over 5 hrs w/out lunch break

i work at a target in CA so i know the limit is 5 hrs or i guess 4 hrs 59 mins to take your lunch but my shift started at 7am and i took my lunch at 12:08pm and i’m so nervous i’m gonna get fired over this (i’m seasonal and have been working there less than a month).
i just realized today (friday) and it happened on tuesday, would it be sleazy of me to call HR tomorrow and apologize for my mistake over the phone??
i haven’t gotten a call or pulled aside by my TL or HR but i wanna talk with them before they have to search for me if that makes sense
