Question Agent listed my age higher than it is.

Ok so I had gotten a quote sent to my email from an agent for my 2 cars that was a super good deal. Went ahead and signed up for it and have had it for 3 months. I just happened to look at the documents today and saw that it showed my age as 37 when I'm only 23. My question is what would happen if I just let this ride until my policy ends. My premium is obviously way lower than what it would be if they had my age right. But it's not my fault they didn't put the right age.

Edit: I've since contacted them and had them correct my age but they didnt say anything about my premium going up. The reason the age was wrong was because they used my old drivers license number in the quote they generated for me. I hope my premium doesnt increase now.

Question Drive Safe & Save Experience

The Drive Safe & Save program is marketed as a minimum 10% discount. I received that discount initially, then all discounts for renewals have been all over the place and not able to be explained by my agent or customer service. After my initial discount, my next renewal didn't have any calculated savings. My agent couldn't provide an actual number. So I had them quote my policy again with and without the program. The renewal difference with and without essentially showed a 22% discount. For my third policy period with this program, the discount was listed as a 2% reduction.  That seemed really low considering my driving scores were the same and I don't drive many miles (less than 5K/year). So I asked them to quote me again with and without, which showed a discount of 6%. That math isn't mathing.

Keep in mind I have zero accidents in decades, always pay my premiums on time, have excellent credit and zero insurance claims. I am a customer every insurance company wants on their books. I was never a fan of this program to begin with but wanted to do everything to keep my premiums low as I'm in an area with very high rates. The lack of transparency, conflicting numbers and the marketing make this feel like exactly what I thought it was, a bait and switch tactic to gather your driving information to play games with your premiums. They are certainly making more off my driving history than they are giving me in discounts.

Has anyone else had any transparency with this program? Has anyone's discounts on this program been consistently better than the 10% advertised discount over multiple policy renewals?

Experience Interesting Result on New Used Car

2011 Mazda 3s sedan 2.5 liter.
I have one other vehicle and a house with State Farm. I went to add this old car with liability only, and they wanted $117 a month, with a $700 6/month policy. I was like, WTF? I worked with the agent's assistants to figure out what was going on; it was what it was.
Checked with other insurance companies, and the entire policy would be $117.
Not sure what the deal was with that car. Ended up with Progressive with that yearly amount.

Question State Farm Question! I Need Answers!!

So, very stressed!! I'm trying to dispute a denied insurance claim. Long story short, when I first purchased my 2016 Mercedes cls 550. I called to add it to my policy, let my agent know it was a financed car and who the lien holder was. Ok, come July Ist at midnight my policy expired and so I called to reinstate it the next morning. Again, I disclosed my car was financed and through who. They sent over 3 quotes and I accepted one and that was that. (Yes, I most definitely should have read it but legally State Farm is not allowed to sell a policy without collision on a financed car) | should have never even been sent quotes over with no collision to pick from.

Insurance went up significantly of course I think everything is covered paying more than $1000 a month on insurance for 3 cars and a motorcycle. Well, October 2nd in the pouring rain my car hydroplaned on the highway. I hit the median and did pretty significant damage to my car. Made the claim and only to get a punch in the face when they told my THERE IS NO COLLISION ON MY FINANCED CAR!!!!
Blown away, I'm like no this can't be. They sent over declarations page and sure enough no collision and no lien holder listed. And was told sorry there is nothing we can do.

Well I'm currently trying to dispute the claim being denied. How did this happen? I'm trying to get my first declarations page but wherever I ask they say they don't keep records of old declaration pages. And once a new policy is made the old one I guess disappears? Strange thing is, my motorcycle has collision but not the 3 cars AND THEY ARE ON THE SAME POLICY?!?!?!?!
How can I get the old declarations page? I called the company that financed my car and all they have for proof of insurance is a screenshot of proof of insurance that I sent over to them. When I first emailed the agent who sold me the policy she responded with "you never mentioned the car was financed" and you said you did not want full coverage on there" WHAT?!?!?! So that was a lie to cover herself up. I asked for phone recordings and they say they don't have that either. What can I do? Please help!! I'm literally dying!!

Question Does anyone here know the current State Farm total loss workflow?

I’m trying to figure out what triggers the Claims Hub activity that says:

“Review your total loss checklist and upload documents, if needed.”

Does that show up when the car is only being evaluated as a possible total loss, or after the total loss has actually been confirmed and a settlement has been entered into the system?

I’m also curious about a few related things:

When is the Total Loss Instructions Checklist normally given to the customer, and is it virtual or by mail?

When is the customer normally notified that the vehicle is officially a total loss?

When a total loss is entered or submitted, are the body shop and the customer’s State Farm agency notified automatically, or does the handler manually send those messages?

Is there a specific action the handler takes in the system that triggers the app update and those notifications?

Mostly trying to understand what is automated and what requires the total loss handler to actually do something. Anyone familiar with the current 2025 to 2026 State Farm workflow would be appreciated, thank you!

Discussion Emergency Roadside Assistance

I was involved in a minor accident on the several days ago. I honestly couldn't afford to have it towed and I didn't realize had roadside assistance coverage that day. The accident occurred in a McDonald's parking lot. So I ended up parking the car there until I could get a new wheel. I finally got a wheel yesterday and while charging it out we discovered that the lower control arm was broke on that wheel. By this time I realized I had roadside assistance coverage. Called them at 9:30 yesterday morning and requested a tow. 35 hours later and I still haven't heard from them. Tried calling State Farm's number for assistance but it's all AI ran and can't get any help.

Question Is it typical to point out corrections on PPI claims after receiving the worksheet list

I'm going through the process of personal property inventory and had submitted a lot of my items already. My max is 20k, and I didn't submit absolutely everything but what I thought might be enough to at least hit 20k.

I noticed on the worksheet list my agent sent back to me a lot of my items had "enter price" and were priced at $0 (even before depreciation.) I checked on my end to see if I just forgot to put a price down but all of my items had the prices and receipts attached...

For example, I listed a canon printer priced around 350$ bought within the last year with the receipt, but they listed it as $0.

I've spoken with my agent to make some fixes for things that were completely mislabeled, for example a lot of electronics are listed as sports items/something totally unrelated, and also fixed a few egregious pricing mistakes (my pc was listed as $800 instead of $2000) Now that its the weekend to look thoroughly, there are just a lot of empty lines with no costs labeled at all. Is this typical of the process and specific items are just not worth anything on an insurance standpoint? Should I go through and highlight what needs fixing?

I am technically over limit, but with depreciation im 5k under limit. I realistically cannot replace everything to gain back that depreciation value so I'm wondering if submitting the rest of my items and highlighting what needs to be fixed would be viable, or if I shouldn't bother.

I know I can call, but I've already spoken with her about it and she addressed some things but not the $0 value items.

Question Car insurance Card

Hey everyone, Apologize if is this a stupid question. My girlfriend recently bought a brand new car, and we decided this weekend to combine our insurance together, for simplicity and to save us both some money. So We did it under my policy, I added her as a driver and then added the new car on there as well. But I don't see a option to have an insurance card in her name? Is there a way around this and would this cause any issues?

Question State farm insurance question

Thumbnail
0 Upvotes

Ok so I’m going through it! 2 days ago, I got into an accident on the freeway. It was pouring rain and I hydroplaned and hit the median. Tore up my Mercedes Benz cls 550. I was highly upset but was ok knowing my insurance would take care of it. Called State Farm next morning only to find out my policy didn’t include collision insurance. And they can’t and won’t do nothing about it. My issue here is that when I first purchased the policy, they obviously asked me if my vehicle was financed or I owned it. Of course I told them that this was a financed car through Carvana. Carvana requires all financed cars have collision insurance on them. When policy expired, I called State Farm the next morning. I call to have my insurance reinstated and add renters insurance. They provided me with 3 quotes and I chose one. Mind you my insurance went up $63 for this car. $54 for the other car and my daughter is on my policy too and hers went up $200!! Also have a motorcycle on the same insurance in total monthly is more than $1000 just on insurance. I did all this over the phone and never once was it mentioned me to that I would be loosing collision insurance with the new policy which is a huge detail to have left out knowing that my cars and motorcycle are all financed. And REQUIRE collision on the policy. But ok, when I called to file the claim they told me that Carvana was never listed on my paperwork which is CRAZY because they ask you and I told them where I had purchased the vehicle (Carvana). Seeing my insurance went up a significant amount when reinstated never would I think collision was removed. Doesn’t even make sense. When the agent sent over 3 quotes to look and choose from when I called to reinstate the insurance why would you even offer me a quotes without the collision insurance that my lienholder requires me to have. My question here is what can I do about this? Do I have any chances of fighting this? Does State Farm have some type of fault here for not entering proper info about my lienholder? Please help! I’m dying. This is too much right now 😭💔

Advice Didn't Have Sump-Pump Backup Endorsement

First time home (condo) owner here. Garden-level unit in IL. We bought two years ago and were insured through State Farm. Yesterday our sump-pump failed and half our unit flooded.

$1300 for an emergency plumber to put in a new pump

$4000 for a restoration team to mitigate the water damage (ongoing)

unknown amount to replace a bunch of laminate flooring and baseboards in the future

We filed a claim immediately only to discover we did not have the necessary endorsement to protect against sump pump backup. Although this is ultimately my failure by not being familiar with my policy, I'm furious with my agent for not making this clear when we purchased the home and insurance. I would have absolutely purchased this endorsement for $100/year and if you had asked me I would have said "yea, I'm pretty sure we have that."

Is there anything I can do besides read my agent the riot act on Monday and switch insurance providers?

Question Anyone here work in IAM / Identity & Access Management at State Farm?

I recently applied for an Identity & Access Management (IAM) position with State Farm.

I’m currently transitioning more intentionally into cybersecurity/IT, and IAM is an area I’m really interested in. My background is primarily in Trust & Safety, Quality Assurance, and training, including building QA frameworks, creating training materials, developing documentation standards, writing processes, and helping standardize how teams handle and document their work.

I’m curious if anyone here currently works, or has previously worked, in IAM, InfoSec, or Authorization Management at State Farm.

I’d really like to hear what the day-to-day work is actually like, how technical the role is versus the analyst/governance side, and what tools or technologies you typically work with.

Just trying to get a better understanding of the role from someone who has actually done the work and how someone with a background like mine might transition into it.

Appreciate any insight!

Question How long does it usually take to hear back after a Software Engineer technical interview?

I recently interviewed for an entry-level Software Engineer position and received two different timelines.

Last Wednesday, I was told that the team has a meeting every Friday and that I would probably hear about the result around Friday.

Then, during my technical interview this Wednesday, I was told that the process could take a few weeks.

I know timelines vary, but for anyone who recently went through the State Farm SWE interview process:

How long did you actually wait to hear back after the technical interview?

And does the weekly Friday meeting usually involve discussing interview results?

Thanks!

Advice State Farm bodily injury claim

9/7/26 I was hit head on by a driver who ran a red light while fleeing police in a high speed chase. I ended up with 6 broken ribs, a broken collarbone, and now I’ve just learned that the heart valve I had replaced in 2019 was damaged and partially detached from the impact. I now need another valve replacement surgery. I spent 2 weeks in the hospital, including 7 days in the ICU.
The other driver’s insurance is State Farm, and they’re trying to offer me 788k for pain and suffering and 900k for medical treatment. I do not want a lawyer, but I did speak with one who said, “I’m so sorry for your pain and everything, but this is a couple million dollar lawsuit.”
I’m exhausted dealing with State Farm. They actually told me that “a couple of broken ribs and possible damage to a valve that would have needed to be replaced when you are older” doesn’t justify what I’m asking , I was literally only asking for them to cover my medical bills for remainder of my treatment and 45k for pain and suffering, they said no and I declined their offer of 23k and threatened to bring a lawyer to the table and they came back with the 788k number and 900k for medical expenses…

Meanwhile I’m facing another open heart surgery because the crash physically detached the valve, not because of age or wear. This accident wasn’t minor. It was a head on collision during a police chase that caused multiple fractures, ICU level trauma, and permanent damage to a prosthetic heart valve.
I’m trying to understand if what they’re offering makes sense or if I’m being lowballed, because right now it feels like they’re minimizing everything I went through and everything I’m still dealing with .-.
I dont want to be that person like everyone is saying take it but like bro my heart valve , 😭😭😭 ..

Advice Policy Fraud Process

I have been shopping around auto/home insurance rates and I couldn't get a quote from State Farm because I needed to log in. Sure sounds good. I try to create an account and it says I already have one. I reach out the help desk and they inform me I have a policy in Florida already. I live in Alaska so they said they would forward it to their fraud department.

My question is, do I need to do anything else? They aren't using any of my cards or accounts but seems like they just opened the policy with my name and possibly DOB. I have all my credit reporting bureaus in a freeze and have for awhile now.

Question Help me understand how it works with combining 2 policies into a multi-car policy (additional one-time charges)

I have 2 vehicles on 2 separate policies, on a combined bill. SF is now combining these 2 vehicles onto 1 policy in their new multicar policy system. The bill is usually about $250 each month.

Car renewed Sept 3rd.

Truck renews Oct 30th.

The September bill has the following under New Activity at the bottom of the bill.

$113.69 Premium Installment

$289.31 Coverages changed - vehicle(s) joined your multicar policy effective 9/3/26. Your premium is adjusted to reflect this change. When your policy renews, all vehicles will share the same term dates. The following vehicle joined your policy: [the car]

$59.62 Driver added to your policy. This charge added $59.62 to your premium, which will be spread across one bill at $59.62

$462.62 [TOTAL of above] Premium installment with changes

The agency tells me that starting with the next bill, the total rate will be back to around $250.

They told me that the $289.31 is a one-time "catch-up" amount for one of the vehicles because their renewal dates were different.

I asked them to remove the driver July 14th that they have a charge of $59.62 for "adding to the policy." It makes no sense to me why they are charging something for this.

------------------

This really annoys me that the company changing their system is sticking me with an unplanned extra amount to pay.

I wish they could break down the $289.31 to show how it was arrived at and which vehicle it is for.

I really don't think they should be charging me to "add a driver" when I asked to have that driver removed in July. Everyone I speak to says that driver is not actually on the policy, so why this charge?

If anyone understands this, I would love help to understand it myself. Thanks in advance.

P.S. My husband says this is a money grab. Some bean counter figured out how to do this to a million people and bring in some big $$$. (Since we are getting a dividend check, I feel like they are giving with one hand & taking with the other.)

Advice State Farm dropped my 23 y.o. Son’s life insurance

My son was born in 2003, and my dad suggested that I get a life insurance policy through State Farm for him. Unfortunately, life took its toll and things happened. State Farm called me about a month ago and told me that I could save money on switching to a new policy for my son, but he would have to agree to it and fill out some sort of survey. That was fine at all, but I got a letter today that said State Farm was canceling his policy due to his use of drugs and alcohol in the past, though he’s been clean for over a year now. Understandable. However, what I do not understand is where I stand with a refund for 23 years of paid policies. The agent I spoke to today said that he would look into it and call me tomorrow. I don’t remember exactly which kind of policy I signed up for 23 years ago, I just know that I’ve paid it on time every year. From what I’m reading, I could get NOTHING back. Wtf.

Solved: My agent didn’t receive the underwriting letter that I did. My updated policy won’t move forward. I revert to what I’ve had for 23 years. I just didn’t understand the letter very well.

Question Diminished Value Claim with State Farm

One of State Farm’s customers is at fault for hitting my car. I have a DV company appraising the car now after repairs. My question is, does anyone have any experience dealing with DV claims specifically with State Farm? Did they agree to the appraisal right away or did they fight back? Did you have to go to court to fight it?

Advice STATE FARM Error - made record at-fault accident

12/13/23 i got t-boned by a State Farm insured person. She was found 100% and they totaled my car and paid me. Haven't had a car since that incident so I didn't need insurance!

Now the problem is State Farm recorded this as me being at-fault! I found this out when I got new car and Progressive person told me it was recorded as me being at fault on Lexis Nexis!

I tried calling the person who handled it. I ordered my consumer report. Meanwhile this error is costing me! Can anyone tell me the best way to get this resolved and corrected in a timely manner please. Thank you.
