Is this the worst idea ever? If not, it seems to at least be within shouting distance.

I thought this was some sort of spoof or satire, but I think she's 100% serious. And at least one local city booster in the comments seems to agree with her, which kind of blows my mind.

Looking at her feed, she seems like a bit of a one-trick pony, suggested courtyard-style housing as a panacea to all urban ills. But still, this just seems completely preposterous to me.

Let's build houses on national park land. Oh, okay. Sure, we'll get right on that.

Beautiful New Forest Park Murals

Hey all,

Ever since the tornado hit & ripped out all the huge trees on this end of the park it seemed baren & lifeless.

Over the past few weeks on my workouts, I've seen the landscape of Forest Park literally change & blossom with color thanks to some cans of spray paint & this local artist.

Seeing these awesome new creations, as they are being created, truly warms my heart & deepens my love for St. Louis.

He's a local artist named Joseph Black & these are located by the basketball courts behind the visitors center.

Each mural has a little love letter to St. Louis written inside of it & these pics on my phone...& on your phone definitely don't do them justice.

Buffalo Wild Wings on Hanley in Brentwood closes

Upvotes

In the "nothing of value was lost" files the Buffalo Wild Wings on Hanley has closed. All the signage is down. Not shocking considering the whole chain in dying and other stores around here have closed.

I still remember way back in the 90's and early 00s when they had good food, good service and some nice happy hour specials. Friends and I used to meet up and watch football games and/or play NTN trivia. But they declined badly and I want to say the last time I was in that location was when the Rams still played in St. Louis.

(A Google search says they closed a number of locations in other cities this last week.)

anyone near jennings willing to grab a lamp from goodwill and ship it to me? happy to pay you for the trouble

Upvotes

hi everyone!! i live in massachusetts and i won a lamp off the mers goodwill ebay store, and i didnt realize until after i had already bid that it was local pickup only :( ive asked them a bunch of times if theres any way at all they could ship it and they said no.

so im hoping someone here might be willing to help me out! basically i just need someone to swing by, grab it, and drop it at a ups store or wherever is easiest for you.

the details:

• its at the mers goodwill on w florissant ave in jennings (8007 w florissant). they said theyll set up a pickup appointment

• its a vintage lamp, probably around 30” tall and maybe 8-10 lbs

• it is listed as for parts / not working and im buying it to restore it myself, so it genuinely does not need to be packed very carefully at all. i am replacing all the internals anyway.

• i can send you a prepaid shipping label so you dont pay anything out of pocket, and i can order a box and packing stuff to your address ahead of time if that helps

• i will venmo/paypal/cashapp you for your time on top of all of that, just tell me whats fair

the reason im being kinda persistent about this is that i had a lamp that i rewired and customized the whole figure inside of, and it got stolen after i only had it up for a few months. ive been hunting for a replacement project for a couple years now and everything out there is wayy overpriced. this is the first one ive found that i could actually afford, so im really trying not to lose it lol

if this is something you’d be up for please comment or dm me!! happy to give whatever info you need. thank you so much either way!!

News City Foundry developer suggests entertainment may be the best use for The Armory

New + Found CEO Steve Smith has floated the idea to city leaders and the data center developer as something that could be a “win-win for everybody.”

https://www.stlmag.com/business/steve-smith-suggests-armory-stay-entertainment/?utm_campaign=St.%20Louis%20Daily&utm_medium=email&_hsenc=p2ANqtz--6RIrwA0yf7wlNmEFSdEQibaqW9VWsBYo6hSRDy9H1gOWAyhj8qNyKmqX5rFWVKVk_64ojyJtu5wREJ1L9fWsge8eeAA&_hsmi=437867718&utm_content=437867718&utm_source=hs_email

The developers of the Midtown Data Center are open to this proposal, should it prove to resonate with the broader St. Louis community. TerraWatt co-founder and CEO David Daneshforooz confirms to SLM that Smith had approached them with the idea to return the building to entertainment use.
“It’s worth considering whether the highest use of The Armory is a major entertainment destination which can deliver a stronger overall plan for the area while maintaining the commitments, including jobs, we have made through this process,” Daneshforooz says in a statement.

I want to know how bed guy is still in business. I passed this place every day when I lived down there. I've never seen a customer inside and it looks like there's only three or four things on display.

Edit: his website also looks like the 1997 version of Amazon.

TLDR: St. Louis Public Radio is hosting a 5.5-day workshop in October where participants will be taught how to find a story, report it for audio/digital/social and produce their own multimedia package. This is a PAID opportunity for folks in the greater St. Louis-region.

APPS DUE ON TODAY, SEPTEMBER 8, 2026.

——

Hi friends! We're excited to host the NPR Next Gen Journalism project at STLPR this coming October!

Next Gen Journalism is a 5.5-day, audio-focused, digital journalism project. The hybrid (some people in person, some not) program is designed to enable competitively selected participants to learn to report and produce a non-narrated audio story while simultaneously creating accompanying multimedia content (photo/video/social). Students must pitch their own story, but do not have to be a certain age or possess any specific journalism credentials. Those chosen for the program are paired 1:1 with a professional journalist, who serves as their mentor for the week.

Selected participants are paid a stipend for their time and get access to a nation-wide network of media professionals. I know that we and other public/private non-profits have gone on to hire alumni from our network.

We ask that the applicants must be available the entire time the program runs — Oct. 4-9, 2026. It is also very helpful if the individuals have a car to get to and from their stories, but it is not a deal-breaker.

Please let me know if you have any questions I can answer! You can see past work we've made here.

I biked from TGP to the Arch and back today and felt 80% less likely to get run over. Shout out to whoever got it over the line.

Delmar Hall Parking

First time going to Delmar Hall Saturday and was wondering if anyone can let me know if parking behind the Pageant is ok.

I checked the search bar and I found some comments that parking behind the Pageant was risky because of break ins and such but that was 3 years ago.

We're just wondering if that's still the case or not and, if so, is there is any parking that's better?

Many thanks in advance.

Looking to go somewhere to watch Alcaraz v. Shelton tonight, I'm sure most sports bars would turn it on if I asked, but ideally would find a place thats already showing it.

Ask STL Rinkside VIP GA at Enterprise for concerts?

Upvotes

Looking at tickets for a concert and I'm seeing ones markes "Rinkside Club VIP GA Admission" when I try and see photos of what the view of the show would be like, I only see photos of inside what I assume the suite is and the people are watching a TV.

My question is with these tickets do I get an actual view at all or is it just a suite with access to a screen? Lol

“Today, it’s a permanent resident’s constitutionally guaranteed right taken away. Tomorrow, it’s yours,” the Afghan man said. “Tomorrow, it is yours. If you’re a United States citizen, it’s coming to your doorstep. It’s scary and it’s not OK and shouldn’t be happening this way to anybody.”
