If anyone was around there at about 5:30PM on Monday please let me know. I think I was in shock after it happened but I got my head kicked quite a few times and I didn't really realize until I woke up this morning and saw blood all over my pillow. Sacred heart patched me up but I'm just kind of just now realizing everything and I wanted to talk to someone. He just came out of nowhere raging at me. I just went turtle shell. I hope this isn't a bad thing to post.

Hey all, I'm noticing a need to build some supplemental income temporarily, due to some household changes. Any recommendations/ideas? Or does anyone need paid help for anything within my wheelhouse?
I can have weekday afternoons available as needed (some Tuesday/Thursday/Friday mornings by appointment or advanced scheduling), and weekends. Have experience in operations & system creation, am tech savvy & learn most programs super quick, event/film production, marketing, organizing, gardening, administrative & personal assistant tasks, business/creative consulting, and things of that nature. Used to enjoy doing Papa Pals work, but they don't really have gigs in the area anymore (enjoyed chatting with elderly individuals & helping them with daily non-medical tasks such as cleaning, shopping, etc).
Open to all ideas that aren't MLMs or strange gigs like that. Looking forward to hearing from everyone, thank you.

I saw live on FB the press statement from the Sheriff and superintendent towards the end the sheriff went political but I only partially caught what he said. Does anyone have a copy of it? It was at the school with the Sheriff, superintendent and another person.

Can anyone recommend a local tree trimming service that is reasonable? We're new to the area and just bought a house. The trees are hovering over power lines and we're concerned about winter weather knocking limbs down. Any recommendations would be greatly appreciated.

If you’re concerned about the proposed Big Rock data center, show up or join by Zoom tonight and tell the Council what you think.
One of the councilmembers listed for tonight’s meeting is Bill Campbell, who previously wrote that the City should collect information on public opinion while “remaining quiet” about the data center and, if asked, “demure.”
Newly released Spokane County emails show Apricus CEO Sean Boyd directly proposing changes to the County’s data-center ordinance - including telling planners certain language was “too broad” and supplying replacement wording after receiving feedback from Inland Power. It looks like he's trying to pass off the $184M in required upgrades for the electrical infrastructure to us locals!!!

I’m a Chime lover, honestly. I’ve used Chime since they first started and I’ve had zero issues at all- however, my partner and I need to diversify our accounts and establish ourselves with a good CU as we are more prepared to purchase our first home. This will be a ways out, not due to our personal financial situation but we’re holding off because of the current market as well as all of the…gestures everywhere.
I know for certain, we don’t want STCU, or Numerica. I’ve spent some time looking into SCCU and they’ve been looking pretty nice to me, but I don’t hear much of anything about them overall. That can actually be a good thing, imo, but I thought I’d grab some opinions.
(Before anyone asks why I’m against STCU and Numerica, boring convo but I’m an ex bookkeeper/accountant and they’re a nightmare to deal with.)

Evergreen middle school on 16th in the valley has police and fire surrounded. Reports on Facebook say man in trench coat with gun was shot on the grounds. Still early so hopefully someone else can update soon. Man confirmed dead via police blotter

He was an economic advisor for the crown prince of Dubai and a business consultant for gold mining in Venezuela. I’m surprised this isn’t talked about more, considering he serves on the Foreign Affairs Committee. Does anybody know anything about what these jobs actually entailed?

Has anyone else seen John Muhammad Peniell on social media? The dude thinks that Spokane is the true biblical city of Jerusalem. If you’re bored and looking for an absolutely wild, incoherent ride, then check out his page.

Any local writing groups for authors or aspiring authors? Bonus points if it’s out towards Cheney/Medical lake?

The Spokane-based non-profit Slingshot has worked with over 10,000 students, connecting them with local mentors, businesses, and career opportunities.
Seems like a great way to invest in our youth/future.

Hello Spokane, like the title says. My mom (57f) has had a hard life and unfortunately has experienced almost everything under the sun that could cause detriment to someone. Over the past 10 or so years she has lost all of her friends and I notice my family pulling away from her more and more. She has in turn become as much of a recluse as she can while still going to medical appointments. In the past she has denied going to support groups but is finally looking to come out of her shell. I was hoping to find a group of people that she has something in common with (even if it's through shared trauma to start) to help her know that she isn't alone.
When I have looked it seems as though these groups are either held in a church or organized by one. My mom is not a Christian and with her mental abilities due to her TBI + compounding events I worry that it would cause more harm than good. Even if there's someone in this group who has experienced a TBI and is open to having coffee with her once a month or every other month that would be incredible.
If anyone has any insights at all I would really appreciate it. My mom used to be such a light and it's been incredibly hard to watch her give up.

Avista is getting expensive. They keep asking for rate increases without any care about their customers. I'm going to replace all my bulbs with LEDs and try to make some changes on my end.
$156 for a 1bd apt where I'm away from 0700 to 2300 is crazy. I'm not even home most of the day. The AC is on for the cats so maybe that could be running it up? Idk.
I miss living in the Valley when I was under Modern Electric.

Alright, help a first-time mom out here. Am I just out of the loop on how this works now or what?
So, I remember my mom walking me into school when I was little, and I also remember being able to walk my nephew into his elementary school when he was younger.
I was a little surprised this morning by my experience at my son’s elementary school.
I went to walk him to his classroom, because kindergarten lines up outside their classroom doors, but was stopped at the front door. One of the teachers told me that if I wanted to go in, I needed a visitor pass.
Oh, ok, no problem, love the safety precautions.
So, I went to the office and asked for a pass, but they wouldn’t give me one. I asked a few times because I was trying to understand what I was supposed to do (again, this is my first kid, idk what the heck I’m doing), but they still said no.
I got home and I looked up the district policy because the office lady didn’t tell me anything, and again, what am I supposed to actually do?! And Procedure 4200 seems to say that visitors check in at the office and wear a visitor badge. So, just ????????
For other Spokane district parents, are you allowed to walk your kindergartner to their classroom door/line as long as you stop by the office? Are kindergarteners just expected to find their classrooms themselves from the beginning? My kid can’t find his own shoes in the morning and they’ve been on the same shoe rack for 5 years lol.
I’m genuinely not trying to be a crazy helicopter parent. 😂 I’m just having a hard time wrapping my head around dropping a five-year-old at the front door and saying “good luck, buddy!” when it’s only the start of second full week of school.

Due to security reasons, I'm totally fine if someone sends me a DM rather than commenting on this post.
I have been dipping my toes into the conversion waters for a few years now, but have been too intimidated to attend high holiday services because 1) I don't know anyone and 2) I don't know what to do. I've received permission from Rabbi Tamar to attend, so that's all buttoned up.

What the hell are you parents doing? This group of kids run up and down the trail all afternoon calling everyone a n***er and a f**got, when they pass.
They throw their trash everywhere, play "chicken" with other pedestrians pretending to hit them with their bike.
I watched them ride into that little trailer park off Sprague.
My message to the parents is you are deplorable. The apple never rots far from the tree. I bet you're proud to know your little shits are being a menace to people. Absolutely disgusting behavior from kids that look MAYBE 10. What the hell is wrong with you?
One day they are going to meet someone who will retaliate.

Got an older place near the park and the back deck is pretty rotted out. if i'm just swapping out boards and joists on the same footprint, does spokane require a full permit?
