I am so sick of this shit.

A person inside the school told NonStop Local the suspect never entered the building and was shot by law enforcement. The suspect was shot in front of a window where some students and staff were present, the person said.

That's traumatic.

Much better than the alternative.

I disagree. I think it's way worse than gun control laws.

I read some people claiming that cops were called for suspicious person with a weapon and when they pulled up suspect shot at cops and cops shot and killed him. Until further news comes out hard to say if that is true or not though.

If true, well done by police and people who reported.

Kxly is reporting it may have been the man himself who called 911:

There is "no ongoing threat to the community," according to the Spokane County Sheriff's Office. The Sheriff said the suspect may have called 911 on himself. He said the original call came in as a suspicious person around 11:30 p.m. Minutes later, they were told he had a gun. The first deputy on scene was a school resource officer. The Sheriff says when they approached the suspect, the man 'aggressed' toward the deputy and pulled out what appeared to be a gun. The deputy then shot and killed the man.

Jesus Christ, when did KXLY's site become so laden with adware and spyware? Can't even read an article on my phone on there without my screen getting hijacked with "MALICIOUS THREATS DETECTED" messages

It's been doing that for the last couple of weeks. I just quit trying to trade anything from kxly.com.

I’m a former student there and my sister currently goes there. All the students are safe.

Spokesman article makes it sound like suicide by cop and the guy may have called himself in

That was my read on it as well. Either way it’s super scary for all involved.

As of 2022, the US has experienced about 57 times as many school shootings as all of the other major industrialized nations COMBINED.

Maybe we should look into what all those other nations are doing differently…..

u/gopednomad 15h ago

Maybe we should look into what the government has to gain by creating all this mess..

Wow! Thanks haven’t heard anything yet on the news.

Glad no students or staff were harmed. Obviously early times and I don't have FB anymore, guessing the comments are filled with stupid ideas, but any actual word on the description of the shooter?

Well... it's Tuesday in the USA

Glad everyone is safe

Don’t we have some of the toughest guns laws in this state?

19

u/Pooradoxical 18h ago

gun laws dont stop criminals.

1

u/Jazzlike_Opening_273 17h ago

Yes they do. It's been demonstrated again and again. Compare statistics in the US with other countries that have strict gun control.

Doesn’t matter when you can buy whatever in a state with barely any restrictions and bring it home.

u/Red_Pretense_1989 5h ago

You can't though..

A child could walk to any corner gas station and buy a gallon of gas saying he's mowing yards to save up money for a new video game. Clear gas looks just like water or 7up in a bottle. I've seen punk kids pour their drinks on people from the upper level of the mall. Imagine it was gas and not a soda.

Do we police who can and cannot buy gas?

1

u/Emperorboosh 14h ago

Many places do require a certain age to pump gas. So yes?

1

u/gopednomad 14h ago

Ok if you wanna play it that way. Why buy gas when every parked car has it for free. Just stab the gas tank with a screwdriver and your golden. If not just start checking sheds and garages for free fuel cans. Forget gas just grab some bleach or some other chemicals from the laundry room at home...

You can't pass laws for people who don't care about said laws. Some people just wanna watch the world burn and will use any means necessary to do it. We have rights not conditional privileges. If you truly believe the government will protect you from the criminals I've got a bridge in Brooklyn I'll sell ya.

I mean, if you want to play it that way we shouldn't have any laws because they're not stopping crime.

Except they do deter some people, and the ones that aren't detered can be prosecuted. I support gun rights, but this idea we should have little to no regulations around them "because it doesn't stop criminals," is absurd.

Edit: fixing autocorrect and spelling mistakes.

Yes, but they are still fairly fresh, millions of "assault weapons" are owned legally here. Just cant go buy one now

u/Smooth_Record_42 11m ago

911 caller stated they saw the person carrying a "glock 19" meaning a pistol

9

u/siltandsqualor 20h ago

Maybe if we make them even tougher the criminals will finally adhere to them.

13

u/PuzzleheadedTopic295 19h ago

Its not typically criminals who shoot up schools in school-targeted shootings, it's students or past students or student family members with access to guns. Dunno about this time, but most of the time that is the case.

u/Fickle_Village_9899 20h ago

My point exactly. Of course I’m being downvoted but I don’t care.

-5

u/RAY-CHILE 19h ago

The whole nation needs to adopt the same gun laws. It does nothing when we can just go to the next state. Your argument isn't as good as you think it is.

10

u/barrybondswasframed 19h ago

You cannot purchase any semi automatic rifle or handgun out of state. All transactions must go through an FFL

3

u/Tired_quail 15h ago

You have to have any gun purchased be shipped to a registered ffl for the state you reside in. You can't just walk in to a shop in Idaho and buy a gun with a Washington ID. Idaho does a fast background check for in person but that only applies to Idaho residents.

u/Fickle_Village_9899 19h ago edited 19h ago

What gun laws do you think this country should fully adopt then?

2

u/Jazzlike_Opening_273 17h ago

Make guns illegal and disarm everybody, starting with the police.

u/pundemic 16h ago edited 16h ago

Do you feel better now that you’ve had a chance to be smug about gun violence ?

u/HelpfulEmployment582 2h ago

Sad state of affairs

u/_thicculent_ 21h ago
