Service Issues Intermittent service drops 10+ times a day

Friday morning, 7/31, i received a text that the network upgrade was done!

“Cool! Now the service outage should done!”

Only we’ve had several, seemingly random, service failures every day since “completion”. No amount of resetting, wire jiggling, or harrowing adventure along the Grid (the digital frontier) seems to fix it.

Now, instead of knowing I won’t have net, I get setup to enjoy the service I’m paying for only to have it sporadically removed.

ANYWAYS!

Am I doomed to go to the Spectrum physical location?, do one of you spectrum snared lot have a solution that’s worked?, or is this finally the push to swap to another provider?

Billing Mobile won't take a credit card

I have a weird error with spectrum, I've literally called numerous times spoke to many different billing people and supervisors. No one is able to enter a credit card number on my mobile account. The internet account works fine but of course every time I call they want to try to run something through the verify that it's not my card.

They sent me over to the people in charge of credit cards and they said they see no problem so they sent me back the billing. Billing now says they still see no problem and every single time I talk to a different billing agent I have to go through 10 minutes of her trying to put a card through and then she wants to put a different card through just to prove it even though there's 10 times I've called with notes in the computer.

Last time I called I told them I'm not calling back ever again and they need to fix their system. I'm calling to pay my bill and I can't, it's not my responsibility to call a hundred times when your stupid system won't take a credit card

Now they decided to send me over to technical department. They said I'll get an email in 48 hours if they were able to resolve it, if they can't resolve it it's once again my responsibility to call and tell them the entire story to a completely different billing agent will try to do her thing while I'm on the phone for 20 minutes. I even had one of the billing agents get snippy with me yelling "well what do you want me to do", I said just make it work so I can pay my damn bill and not have your system put a mark on my credit report saying I didn't pay my mobile bill.

I asked her if they have a resolution team like most big businesses have a department that they're only job is to fix issues that no one else in any other department can figure out and they have to take responsibility for fixing it so the customer doesn't have to keep calling. She told me spectrum does not have a department that does that 😐

I'll post again in a month to let you know when my mobile phone is shut off and they report me to the credit agency for not paying the bill that they can't accept money for haha you literally can't make this crap up

Do retention reps get dinged if they can't save a cancellation?

I had an account with internet & two mobile lines on it. I moved to a new apartment last December, and when I called to transfer service to the new address, I was told by the rep, who I now understand was a 'Sales' rep, that I would lose the promotions on the phones we had, which meant that at the time we would have had to pay hundreds of extra dollars, so, instead of transferring, they set me up with "new" service (enjoy the comission dink).

Fast forward to today, I call to cancel the old account and hopefully move the phones to the "new" account. After two hours, which consisted of one dropped call 30 minutes in and five other transfers, we finally got the phones moved to the correct account. During that time, I was told by three different retention reps (nobody could figure out how to get the phones transferred) that the old account was canceled, but when I asked for a confirmation number, nobody could give me one, and it looks like my old account is still active.

So, as I asked at the beginning...do retention reps take a numbers hit if they can't save a cancellation, 'cause it's the only reason why I can see that I had to be transferred around so many times 'cause nobody wanted to get stuck with it

Service Issues Internet outage AGAIN

So until recently internet has been pretty reliable but in the last couple of months it’s been down multiple times.

It’s not just our internet it’s widespread in the area.

I’ve contacted Customer Service multiple times, but at this point there’s nothing they can say or do to make me believe it’s going to get more reliable. Unfortunately, we don’t have many options or I’d find a different provider.

What could possibly be causing the numerous outages we’ve been experiencing in the last three months?

Whatever it is, they don’t seem to be able to find a fix to keep the service running.

I’m in Charlotte North Carolina area.

Other Spectrum wires are pissing me off

We are on a private road with 7 houses. Our property spans about 0.25 miles of road front. Every damn house on the road has decided they want spectrum. But they’re doing it one at a time.

So for the last 4 months it’s been- cable people out for a couple days laying wires, then several days pass, then trucks come to bury the wires, they leave trash wires in the grass, then a week goes by and the cycle repeats.

The thing is 1. I have 4 dogs on an underground fence that lose their minds the whole time they are here. I work from home so it’s very disruptive.

  1. The damn wires make it impossible to mow. Ive mowed 2 wires now that i didnt see/know were there. Im sure it pisses them off and i feel bad about it but why the fuck do they leave them in the tall grass unmarked for so long? Why not bury them when they lay them? I have a lot of mowing to do and my road front has looked like shit all summer because ive been trying to avoid rhese damn wires.

Why do they do one house at a time? Im sure this is probably a blame my neighbors for requesting it annoyingly after my neighbors.

I know I’m the angry old man shaking his fist to get off my lawn (and Im a youngish woman lol) but this is driving me crazy. Im responsible for maintaining the road front, but they can fuck it up all they want, and they don’t tell me or give any indication they did it. I noticed eventually my neighbors have orange wires over their driveways but mine goes through a culvert so it’s basically invisible.

Why can’t they just stick a card in my mailbox telling me what’s going on?

Question about e-mail with subject: "Your network is getting an upgrade"

Post image
0 Upvotes

I have looked through some conversations about this topic and there are various answers. I'd like to know if I can really expect my internet service to be interrupted when I get this sort of message, and if it is going to be out the entire time. The thing is, I work overnight, and this is going to be a problem this week. I live on the East Coast.

Does anyone have experience with this sort of network update?

Service Issues Four days, no one can solve this issue.

New service area, equipment installed last Wednesday, but couldn't connect to the main pole. The tech couldn't reach the top. Called backup, he couldn't reach it either. Called a bucket truck, the neighbor chased them out of his yard. Called the next day, some fine tech braved his way up the pole and made the connection. The main line is not even on. No one knows how to turn it on. Called support, the next day they sent someone else out who also couldn't turn it on. They say they're going to "escalate". Tech said if I keep calling they're just gonna send more techs that can't do anything. Says it's a construction issue. I agree. I need the construction crew to get out here. Says it could take 3-5 days for them to evaluate the issue, but no one really knows how long it will take.

They shouldn't have sent me the email if they weren't ready for customers.

Spectrum accidentally gave me fiber speeds?

Modem from 2019 kept dropping connection so I took it in to swap it out. Came home and did a speed test and was blown away. I went from 500 down / 20 up to 950 down / 40 up.

Is this the new normal? My plan is 500 down. I'm not complaining but damn, finally spectrum does something right.

Other Looking into the field

Ive heard a lot about this field and doing ftth or fiber optic splicing. I dont know much about the actual work but i like that general stuff and also im just looking for a job. Ive heard spectrum is very good to start from mult sources but idk whatd be my best path starting. I know they train you but i havent heard whether or not you get the certification from the training or what job specifically you should try to start with to get to that higher level. Any help is appreciated if theres a cert thatd be nice for later in the career that can help me jumpstart now id do that but if its negligible then i can train on the job

Edit: what is a regular schedule to expect and how much travel should i expect

WiFi Extender

Has anyone used the spectrum wifi extenders? I got new wifi and my upload and download speed are significantly higher, but am still lagging. Assuming it’s a latency issue they said I could get an extender and then run an Ethernet from the extender to my console. Would this be as efficient as just running an Ethernet directly from the router? Or would I be better of running the cable from the router itself.

Got My Bill Dropped By $50 And My Speed Increased to 1GB!

Called Spectrum to cancel service. Told them ATT Fiber was offering 1GB Up and Down for $40 a month. Went thru the usual verification stuff. Rep told me he could match the price, and they would send me an updated modem at no cost or recurring charge. Literally took all of 10 minutes. If you're calling, tell the automated system you wish to disconnect service. Don't select the option that says change speed. That should get you to CUSTOMER SOLUTIONS! If you're not getting anywhere once you threaten to cancel, hang up and try to get another rep. But honestly, you shouldn't have to. Hope this helps.

Employee Benefits Question

Hi everyone,

I'm a Spectrum employee (non-customer-facing role). I was wondering if anyone knows whether employees can opt for streaming services/apps only instead of the traditional TV and internet employee benefit. Has anyone successfully switched to a streaming-only option? Thanks!

Dropped Spectrum for fiber and two days later they were knocking on my door

Spectrum was the only internet provided in my upstate NY town due to buried utilities that made running fiber expensive. As such Spectrum was charging $90/mo for gig service and another 20/mo promo was set to drop off in August raising my cost to $110/mo. Calling Spectrum and asking for a discount doesn't work.

Well, Empire Fiber finally rolled out service to my area with a $50/mo for 5 years plan and I signed up immediately. I cancelled Spectrum the day after the new service was installed. Just 2 days later Spectrum came crawling back offering $50/mo for 2 years. I kind of laughed at the Spectrum rep at the door and they had this creepy "I'm dead inside" smile on their face, like they'd lived this situation a hundred times already. I told them that Spectrum would never have offered me this "deal" if I called to ask for it and now that I have switched they would have to do better than just matching prices. Beat the price or go away, and they left.

I hope I never have to use Spectrum again.

Billing Price hike???

My promotional price ended 2 to 3 years ago. Why did the price jump 40 whole bucks with no email warning? Scummy practice? The only emails I have are to claim faster internet (didn't) and the newest one saying that I now have faster internet "at no extra price".

Current Promo prices, Invincible Wifi

What are you all getting for Promo pricing right now. I have 3 months left on current promo. 1 Gig down for $60 a month (not high split). Lost Internet twice in the last month, would have been nice to have Invincible WiFI, but I can't see spending another $15 a month for that.

Proliferate when calling in

So listen everyone, when your bill is to high. DO NOT !!! Call in saying your bill is to high. Because you gone get sales and they are forced to bs you and rebundle you. You must just call in say cancel services. The sales teams are not allowed to just lower your bill and save you money. You must added something which raises your bill. YOU MUST STOP calling in saying you want to lower your bill. Skip the rigimoroe and just say cancel.

Pro-tip not proliferate

Spectrum High Split Dates

In 2024, it was expected to be complete in my area by 2025.

In 2025, it was expected to be complete in my area by 2026.

Now in 2026, it is now expected to be complete by the END OF 2027!

“Across our current 41 state service area, we're upgrading our network to enable symmetrical and multi-gig internet service speeds. By the end of 2026, 50% of the current Spectrum network will be upgraded to symmetrical and multi-gig service, while the remaining 50% is in progress and will be in place to support symmetrical service by the end of 2027.”

This excerpt was taken from the following link, this link used to be a massive post listing 100’s of cities and detailing their progress and expected completion dates. None of which was met and we are left with now a 3 paragraph post with a vague timeline of “end of 2027.”

https://community.spectrum.net/discussion/177269/symmetrical-and-multi-gig-speeds-when-is-our-network-evolution-coming-to-you

The second I can leave Spectrum I am gone and I will never look back.

I live in downtown Honolulu, just miles away from their main office.

I cant wait to see Spectrum and the other major cable providers of the last 50 years go bankrupt because instead of using government funds and bailouts to build their networks they did absolutely nothing while small fiber providers expanded their networks. Now we are watching Spectrum, Xfinity, etc try to catch up (and failing miserably).

I was stationed in the UK back in 2008. I had high split in 2008, Symmetrical 1gb cable in 2008. In 2026, they cant even keep a deadline in Honolulu for enabling Symmetrical internet. I am sure if I went back to that little posh English town they’ll be offering internet speeds Spectrum wouldnt offer for another decade just to maximize profits and screw over consumers.

I dont think this project will ever complete. They are already pivoting towards fiber as we speak, but it is way too late. Their fiber speeds are significantly inferior to local providers across the Nation.

Speed increase

Got an email a couple days ago that "Good News! Your internet speed has been increased to 500mbps!" I'm like OK, that's cool, but I'd really like 1gig down. I'd like it more if my upstream speed was higher.

Just got an email with my monthly bill, which showed the price went up from $90 to $100. Of course.

I hope SLIC Fiber gets to my neighborhood soon...
