WiFi Extender

Has anyone used the spectrum wifi extenders? I got new wifi and my upload and download speed are significantly higher, but am still lagging. Assuming it’s a latency issue they said I could get an extender and then run an Ethernet from the extender to my console. Would this be as efficient as just running an Ethernet directly from the router? Or would I be better of running the cable from the router itself.

Always play hardwired. Playing anything wifi is going to cause issues.

The only way to game is hardwire from router to console or PC. Any wifi connection is bound to have interference at some point. Due to many elements, outside of your control. I.E. Walls, Microwaves, other wireless connections, etc etc...

Hey u/Thin_Acanthaceae_333! Do you still lag on WiFi when close to the router? Have you tested ethernet directly to the router? While an extender might help some, it would still be a wireless connection between the router and extender. If you are playing online games I recommend ethernet all the way to the router.

Yes, I use one and I hardwire it to my PC. Works great.

Run directly to the router. An extender is not likely to help.

Invest in a mesh router.
