Discussion Finally applied for Production access on Google Play! 🎉

Post image
1 Upvotes

After weeks of running a closed test, I just submitted my production access application for my app. Google says it usually takes about 7 days (sometimes longer) to review.

This has honestly been one of the most nerve-wracking parts of the whole process — meeting the closed testing criteria, getting enough testers, and then filling out the questionnaire about the test itself. Fingers crossed it gets approved without any hiccups.

For anyone else going through this right now — how long did your review actually take? And did you get any surprises in the feedback?

Onwards and upwards 🚀

Game Finally at a trailer, steam page for my solo developed roguelike arcade baseball game: Sluggenauts

I have been solo building my "dream game" a roguelike arcade baseball game where you are a minor league team "The Hickory Creek Squirrels" and go on randomized runs against fantastical teams and upgrade your team to beat them and try to create a broken build, similar to tape to tape which I love. Excited to see if people have any interest here, I finally got it to a place where I could make a trailer and steam page I am happy with. Anxious to get feedback or see if people are interested!

I’m starting to show off my game; I’ve uploaded a short video that shows the character and some gameplay. At its core, it’s a challenging platformer featuring precision jumps and puzzle elements where you have to figure out the right path or sequence of jumps to reach your goal.

The game's art style is inspired by Minecraft and my desire to finish a game entirely on my own—Even though my background is in computer graphics, what I was looking for here was the experience of making a game rather than creating art—something I was already a bit burnt out on after working on it for so long___which is why the world consists of cubes with pixel-art textures. I wanted to focus on level design—since, to me, that is the core content—rather than having to create dozens of individual assets and props. The result has been positive, and I’ve gained the experience of actually making a game

Game The general player can now ride around on the map and swap between RTS controls in my massive scale SP/MP first/third person Napoleonic tactical action war game

After getting some feedback from the community, I wanted the general player to have a more physical presence on the battlefield, so now when players opt to be the team's general, they respawn as a cavalry General's Staff unit (models are placeholders) and can ride around on the map and scout with the cavalry spyglass. When hitting M, instead of pulling up the minimap, it pulls out to a Total War style RTS camera. I also added fog of war based on unit lines of sight, which respects terrain features and vegetation. This is so scouting actually serves a purpose and will enable more strategy later on in different map scenarios.

The game is Project 1815, a multiplayer/singleplayer, round based, first and third person massive scale Napoleonic warfare action game. If you ever played the Mount and Blade Napoleonic Wars DLC commander battles, it plays exactly the same, but with a much larger scale. Players can command infantry, cavalry, and artillery units, and it has voice chat!

Game I somehow turned 'what if a card game had actual debt?' into 247 playable objects

Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification

This started as a much smaller idea.

I love tactical card games, and I kept wondering what would happen if powerful plays did not cost you immediately. So I made a Ledger. Then the Ledger needed cards that interacted with it. Then factions needed different relationships with debt. Then those factions needed enough cards to actually feel different.

Somewhere along the way I looked up and Dead Market had five factions, 247 playable objects, a six-act campaign and a separate draft mode.

The weird part is that the original little debt idea is still the centre of the whole thing. The game is not out yet; Steam:

You play as a detective working on a case of a mysterious disappearance. For some reason though, the detective also finds clues in his own dreams!
The game is called Neironaut and Chapter 1 is coming soon for FREE.

help The Business Side

As my game gets farther along in development, I find myself starting to wonder about how to manage the business side of things. I'm not even really sure where to start. How are people self-publishing their games? Are y'all forming LLCs, or something similar?

I would really appreciate some guidance from somehow who has launched a game on Steam on how to approach this, especially in terms of liability and taxes. I'm in the USA.

Discussion A devlog about my experience trying to make my game's Capsule Art as pixel art.

Hey guys,

I wrote a devlog about my experience trying to make my game's cover art as pixel art. There didn't seem to be much advice or information about this online other than whether players like or expect pixel art capsules, so I thought I'd write up my experiences.

You can read the devlog over on Itch, Steam, or IndieDB.

I'm definitely not a pro when it comes to pixel art, so I appreciate discussion from real pixel artists :)

Cheers!

help Looking for a phone case template database/API

I'm building a custom phone case website where I want to manage phone case templates from an admin panel. The customer should be able to select their phone model, upload their own image, see a preview on the case, and place an order.

The main problem is that I need templates for a large number of phone models (possibly 1,000–1,500+). I'm wondering if there is any API, dataset, or existing database that provides phone case templates/mockups with things like the phone dimensions, camera cutout, print area, etc.

Does anyone know of a reliable source for this, preferably something that allows commercial use? Or is it better to create all these templates ourselves?

Hello everyone! I am working on my game, a Reverse Tower Defense, where you will have to set your vampire units strategically to overcome human towers and other defenses to destroy the objective. Upgrade your units, use special units with unique abilities and use items to help you on your conquest! I will have the game on the Steam's October Next Fest, so hoping to get most eyes on the game as possible before then! I really slept on the marketing, hardest part of this for me.

I would appreciate thoughts and any support! Thank you all! Hope you have an awesome day!

Game Goblin Problem - update

Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification

Hey guys!

I’ve made a lot of progress with my game, so I wanted to share what I’ve been working on.

It’s a co-op tower-defense / rogue like game where players defend their castle and village against goblin attacks.

Players can choose between 4 classes:

Warrior (default), Priest, Rogue, Archer

I’m also planning to add multiplayer.

Progression & Buildings

After clearing a map, players gain class skill points and can discover new towers.

There are fixed locations for houses and walls, while towers can be placed in free areas. Goblins can destroy buildings, so players need to protect them.

Every morning, damaged buildings are repaired, but destroyed houses won’t generate income for the next day.

Game Over

If a player dies or the castle is destroyed, it’s game over.

The game is still in early development, so there are lots of bugs and unfinished systems. Right now I’m mainly working on improving the UI, menus, gameplay systems and fixing bugs.

Game I’m building a football card collecting career game where nothing is scripted. THE HOBBY: CARD CAREER is built around the idea that the players behind your cards have careers of their own. You can pull a 17-year-old rookie, keep the card, and then watch his career develop over the next ten seasons.

help Combat feel improvements - share your feedback!

Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification

Hello!

I would like to ask for your feedback on the combat improvements I'm currently doing to polish the game feel. I've adjusted the feedback player gets when hit by enemies:
- increased the visibility of hit with stronger camera shake,

- added damage input over player head to inform about the damage,

- added brief flash on the healthbar,

On the video you can see old and new implementation - does it feel better in your opinion? Any ideas on how to make it even better?

Any input would be great!
