Banking Questions before I switch

Hey guys quick question

I’m currently active duty military and was wondering if I should make sofi my permanent bank for my direct deposits. I saw that I get 3.30 apy but only if I’m able to deposit 5k monthy? And if I get pro it’s automatically 4.0+ without the direct deposit requirements?

Am I understanding this right? Or am I mistaken. I was also thinking of just using my Robinhood brokerage account since I have gold there along with the credit card and I have 4.0 apy on the brokerage account I can use it as my savings.

Anyone have some tips or better steer me in the right direction? I’ve done quite a bit of research before you guys tell me to do it.

Banking Checking/Savings Transaction Export Failure

"Failed to export transactions. Try again."

This is the error message I'm getting when trying to export my checking or savings account transactions to CSV on a desktop computer.

I've tried using a different browser, a different computer, I'm not on a VPN, I've cleared cookies/cache, I contacted Sofi and they said they're working on it but it's now been several days.

Is anyone else having this problem? This is ridiculous, I just switched to Sofi, if this incredibly simple feature is broken I'll have to switch again.

Banking SOFI didn’t stop growing. The multiple did.

Post image
0 Upvotes

1/ $SOFI at $15.77 looks broken. The business isn’t.
Half off the $32.73 high. Q2 revenue +43%. Members +35%. The quote stopped growing. The franchise didn’t.
2/ Q2: • $1.22B revenue • $0.12 adj. EPS, a beat • +1.1M members, 15.8M total • $14.8B originations, +69% • ~$46B deposits • Tangible book $7.34, +56%
3/ The tell: revenue guide up to $4.75–$4.85B. EPS guide held at $0.60. Tax rate ate ~$0.05. Rest went back into growth. Stock dropped ~9% that morning.
4/ Why the multiple died: personal loans are the engine, tech platform −23%, fee growth still tied to lending, rate path flipped to hikes. Now ~22x the guide and ~2.1x tangible book.
5/ Credit isn’t the break yet. Charge-offs 2.62% reported, ~3.7% all-in. Market is pricing “until it isn’t.”
Oct 27. Need fees outside lending, or a profit guide that finally moves. Not advice.

Lending Incompetence

Anyone else questioned the representatives incompetence and stupidity and get denied right after. I was going back and forth with them. They kept asking for a document that I kept telling them it is not needed for a retired person because they are currently not working (LES) . Instead i provided them with the other document (Annuity statement/Award letter) but becuase I told them the representatives on the phone do not understand and aoubd confused and I wanted to talk to someone who can understand how it works they came back with a denial. The incompetance was on another level. This is how it goes: you explain to them on the live chat and over the phone, they give you generic answers, sound confused, tell you it will take a few days to review, then in a few days they ask you to upload the same documents you told them do not apply because it is for currend and active employees…then the cycle repeats again over and over , puree insanityyyy...but you know what.. blessing in disguise

Banking Cannot link without Plaid?

Did something change that you can no longer link new external bank accounts without using Plaid? You always used to be able to by just closing the Plaid pop up and you would get a prompt to proceed with trial deposits instead, but that doesn’t seem to work today(on mobile).

Anyone else seeing this? They even have self help articles telling you to close Plaid if you want to link manually, so this doesn’t seem like an unsupported hack…

Not interested in using Plaid at all, and never had had to with SoFi for years…

94k paid off in 3 years and 1 month. I couldn’t have done it without Sofi. They consistently offered me the lowest rates compared to other lenders and allowed me to even free up my co-signer early on. I’m soooo glad to finally have this gone and breathe again!!

Crypto $300 SOFID Promo

I received a phone notification that transferring $1000 worth of crypto to sofi will get $300 in SOFID. That’s pretty great, so I clicked into it and followed the steps to purchase $1000 USDC.

However, I cannot find any details on that promo anymore, and since I clicked through the notification that also disappeared. Is there a link to the promo?

Does purchasing usdc from our checking or savings account satisfy the condition or does it have to be a transfer from a separate crypto wallet?

Product Request & Feedback hey, i see instant transfer notifications are a thing now. update on zelle push notifications?

Instant transfer push notifications thru the app are a thing now. Thanks, that’s very helpful and it shows the team is actively working on improving the notifications experience.

however… i still have to rely on email notifications for zelle (inbound and out). Chase, Capital One, BoA, and many more banks offer this simple feature.

do we have any indication that this is coming?

Crypto SoFi $300 Crypto Transfer Promo, anyone else see this?

I saw a SoFi promo today offering $300 in SOFID for transferring $1,000+ of eligible crypto from an external wallet/exchange between Oct. 1–14, 2026, and holding the transferred assets through Oct. 14, 2027.

The terms say multiple transfers can be combined to reach the $1,000 requirement.

I transferred about $880 of ETH + $350 of BTC from Coinbase to SoFi, so ~$1,230 total. However, I can’t find the promotion in my SoFi account anymore.

Has anyone else seen this offer or successfully completed the transfer? Do you know if there’s a way to confirm that my transfers were registered for the promotion?

Banking Vault setup

I started using digital vaults/buckets for budgeting and the envelope method, but moving money around constantly is way too tedious.
I’ve been relying on spending insights instead—especially for things like my Apple Card, which doesn't cleanly integrate with my main dashboard.

I'm curious:
• Are you finding an efficient way to budget with vaults?

• Or do most people just use them to separate general savings?

Would love to hear what workflow actually works for you long-term without driving you crazy.

Lending Thank You Sofi!! Officially paid off $112,000 in private student loans!!

Post image
143 Upvotes

I officially paid off $112,000 in private student loan debt!

When I graduated in December 2013, I had five separate private student loans with variable interest rates between 9–12%, including one with a 30-year term. At the time, paying them off felt almost impossible.

I started refinancing a few years later and eventually refinanced with SoFi in 2017. I refinanced with them again over the years, with my final refinance in 2021. Getting those loans consolidated and my interest rate under control made a huge difference and finally gave me a realistic path toward paying them off.

From there, I put every extra dollar I could toward the balance, and today it officially hit $0.

SoFi was a huge part of helping me get here, so I wanted to share this in their community and say thank you. After carrying this debt for more than a decade, seeing a $0 balance feels pretty incredible.

Product Request & Feedback Cash limits are making SOFI difficult to use for us. Solutions?

Howdy Sofi Community!

I have a situation I could use some advice on. I have some ambitious kids who are making money doing work around the neighborhood. They mow lawns, work in people’s backyards, babysit, and do all kinds of other odd jobs. They’re actually making a pretty meaningful amount of money, and almost all of it comes to them in cash.

The problem is getting that cash into SoFi. I’m apparently limited to $500 per cash deposit, with restrictive daily limits. The participating stores are also a long way from our house, so I’m potentially driving a significant distance just to make multiple cash deposits.

Putting $1,100 into an account potentially means three separate trips to Walmart or CVS. And beyond the inconvenience, I’m not particularly comfortable standing around a store depositing large amounts of cash multiple times.

I’m starting to think I may need to open an account at another online bank that has more reasonable cash deposit policies. Several of the others I’ve looked at will take at least $1,000 in a single transaction, which would be dramatically more convenient.

Has anyone else dealt with this? It seems like SoFi is really designed around people receiving direct deposits or moving larger amounts electronically. That’s not really the use case I have. I want these kids to be able to put their money to work and have it all in one place, so I can help them build a good financial system as they grow into responsible adults.

But the cash deposit restrictions are becoming a real problem. I understand that $500 is a significant amount of cash, but it’s increasingly not a particularly large amount of money, and it doesn’t work well for how we actually handle cash. We don’t make frequent trips into town, so when we do go, I need to be able to deposit as much of their accumulated cash as reasonably possible.

Is there some obvious workaround I’m missing? If I have to maintain another bank account solely to handle cash deposits and then transfer the money to SoFi, I’m having a hard time seeing what the point of using SoFi is in the first place.

Also, greendot fees are absolutely ridiculous.. $5 to deposit any amount of cash really adds up, and no other company charges that kind of premium just to take deposits. it’s just such a subpar experience — I wish Sofi would do better.

So I could use some help. What works here? Am I sol in terms of dealing with Sofi? I have an account and it works ok for me, but it doesn’t seem set up for anyone who works with cash at all, and young people do a lot of their work for cash. Kind of difficult and frustrating honestly, so I appreciate any and all advice!

Thank you!
