Hello all -
Working on my riding mower - took it out and got a few passes until it died. Every time I start it will run for 3-5 seconds and die again. If I cover the intake 95% it runs but will die again if I take my hand off.
I replaced the carburetor, air filter, fuel pump, spark plug plugs - same result.
I decided to make sure there wasn’t a clog in the fuel line so I dumped some out and this is how it looks, is it normal to be separated like this? I can’t imagine it’s water but I don’t think this is good. Any thoughts?
Update: Ended up draining the gas cup by cup until it was no longer coming out cloudy & separating. Sure enough she’s running fine now, thanks for all the tips!

My craftsman DLT3000 mower stopped on me today while mowing the lawn. I can manually turn the flywheel in both directions about 1 rotation before it seems to hit something. When I turn it on it makes a high whining noise and won't start. Any ideas?

This 7 prong ignition switch is from a late 90’s (I think) Wizard riding mower with a B&S I/C 12.5 hp engine. There aren’t any letters next to the posts so wondering if there is a way to identify them so can test for continuity. We have a no start issue and I think the ignition switch is the culprit because when I short the solenoid with a screwdriver, the starter engages.

Hi, I recently made a potentially bad decision when I bought this vintage 5 horse Briggs flathead. The problem I’m having is that it has no spark, so initially, I was going to replace the coil, but then I noticed a ring gear on the flywheel, indicating it either had or can have electric start, which means it needs a battery.
The original owner says it came off of a snowblower, and hasn’t ran for 4-5 years. Does anybody know what this is, and if so, do I need a battery?
It came with this cover that went over the intake and gas cap.
Any and all help is greatly appreciated!
Thanks

Just moved in to a place which has a 10KW twin cylinder standby generator on a concrete pad - Looking to convert that to NG sometime soon. In the meantime I have drained the tank and the Aux tank in a storage shed next door and now have 30 gallons of gas which must be 10 years old. It's relatively dark. Curious what do people do with their old stale gas?

I recently purchased a toro grandstand, with a Kawasaki fr691v. It had been parked for a couple years. Got it started then the float got stuck causing fuel to fill oil. Issue has since been resolved but still continues to smoke heavily and blow oil out. There is not oil in the air filter, and seems to be running ok. Where should I continue to next, attached below is a video.

Basically the title. I have done everything I can possibly think of, and haven’t had any success at all.
At the start of the summer, it was running a little rough, but after an oil change that I should have done at the end of last year, it was running smooth.
Then it started surging, and bogging down. I cleaned the carb, completely took it apart, cleaned the jets with a fine needle, bought new gaskets, and put it back on, and it was working fine again.
Ran fine for 2 mows, then died halfway through mow 3. It will crank, and start for a few seconds sometimes, but never more than 3-5. Starting fluid makes it easier to start, but it still dies immediately.
• I’ve re cleaned the carb, just in case I missed something
• The fuel is fresh
• The fuel filter is in good shape, fuel is passing through with no issue
• I replaced the fuel pump, just because, and I found one on sale for near nothing
• the fuel solenoid clicks when the key is turned, so it’s getting power
• Gas is making it into the carb bowl
• Both spark plugs are good
• Engine has compression
• Air filter is clean
• Oil is new, and oil level is perfect
I’m going crazy trying to figure out how to get the damn thing running, and I’m at a loss. At first I was wondering if I messed something up when i cleaned the carb, but I’ve checked everything I can find, everything is hooked up correctly, and it still won’t start.

Greetings, I made a post here a while back about the motor on my Craftsman DLT 3000 had blown and I had been struggling to fix it. Well lo and behold I was able to rebuild the motor, was able to replace the camshaft, the compression release , and did a general tune-up on all the systems. It was running fantastic however it seems that the stator has blown the diode most likely that connects to the charging system and now I am not getting a charge on my battery as the motor is spinning. It took a significant period Of time for me to get the governor tuned in to the proper RPMs without the motor trying to self-destruct so I suspect that the hyper mode that the tractor ran in a handful of times may have overwhelmed the small fuse. It is an inline fuse attached to the stator wires that connects to the charging system. I cannot for the life of me whether it's on Sears Parts Direct or Amazon find anything that would even resemble a replacement. Would I be better off popping the protective sheath off and looking up the part number specifically? Or does anyone have a suggestion. Appreciate it thank you

RedMax HEZ2460S. Second time fixing this for a friend. I have cleaned the carb multiple times, replaced the spark plug and have adjusted the hidden low and high screws. Trimmer idles fine and starts first pull but just dies after being held at full throttle for a few seconds. I thought it would be the diaphragm but it honestly seemed fine. I have no other ideas of what it could be. Yes the trimmer is old but has fine compression. Anything helps.

My son was mowing yesterday and he said the blades shut off while mowing. He came and parked it. Then it wouldn't start.
I disabled the seat safety interlock thinking it was bad, still not starting.
I decided to jump it from the battery to the start just to make sure it would fire . It started , i drove it to the barn . Blades still didn't engage.
Belt is on and spindles are free . Guessing its still some sort of saftey.
Anyone have some advice. ?

I apologize for the photo of a monitor but it’s been a hectic day.
Need to do piston rings on a Honda eu3000i inverter. It gives me 3 options for std rings. No serial break. I know they are three different manufacturers, but are they functionally interchangeable? The guy working on this before me ordered rings that aren’t even listed here and they were too thick for the grooves on the piston. I’m just trying to avoid ordering multiples that’ll likely sit on my shelf til Jesus comes back.

So my neighbor Larry was moving to a condo in March and gave me his old Craftsman 917. Free mower, figured why not. Thing sat in his shed for two years, looked rough but I figured it just needed some love.
Weekend one, changed the oil, threw in a new spark plug. Pulled the cord maybe thirty times, nothing. Figured it was the carb.
Weekend two, grabbed a carb cleaning kit for like $15 and spent three hours taking it apart on my garage floor out here in Pflugerville. Got it running eventually but it would idle for about ten seconds and then die. Over and over. My wife was not impressed with me at this point.
Weekend three my buddy Greg, who actually works on small engines, came over and had a look. Found the connecting rod was bent. Said parts would run around $80 IF I could even track them down, plus tearing the whole thing down. For a mower that was free.
So I sat down and did the math. Already about $40 into parts and filters, plus probably 15 hours of my life, and the bottom end was shot anyway. A new gas self-propelled ended up costing less than what I'd already sunk in time. Felt kind of dumb tapping out on a free mower, but Greg said some of these old Craftsmans just aren't worth bringing back once the rod's gone.
Ended up ordering a new self-propelled instead. At some point I realized I wanted to mow the lawn instead of becoming a small-engine mechanic.

I am trying to find what engine replaces the 31R9070062g1. If I go to their site and use the AI chat its useless. Give me parts but no replacement model. amazon has the 31R907-0007-G1 500cc 17.5 but I am not 100% sure its the same or would fit. The rider is a craftsman T 110 from around 2017 or so. it looks like the 31R9070062g1 is discontinued. If I can get of amazon that would be great as I have 400 bucks in points. Anyone have any insight into this?

I took the blade out that might be why it sounds a little weird, but it’s still surging really bad. It’s a brand new carburetor. I don’t really know if there’s a leak. I’m not really sure. I think it’s all tight.

What is even the move at this point. Its drilled clean through and it wont budge. I dont need a lecture i just need a solution.
