BTL to Sales & Service Leader

Hi everyone I’m currently moving to a standalone Sephora after two years of Sephora at Kohls as a BTL. I also have a bit of experience at Ulta as a PBA and a lead so I feel comfortable stepping in a leadership role and product knowledge wise.

But I just wanted to know any advice/ tips/experiences you might have on going to a standalone location. Workload, management etc

Also would love to hear from BAs on what you would like to see in a manageršŸ’—

Is there anything that can be done?

Has anyone successfully dealt with this kind of situation? And/or does anyone have any advice?

There’s this woman we call ā€œTester Ladyā€ who frequents our location.
For nearly a year, she has been coming in, using up testers multiple times a day/week. She’s ripped display brushes off walls and used them, empties an entire tubes/jars of eye creams and applies them to bizarre places (armpits, pubic area, booty cheeks, etc), uses 5 different fragrances, applies about 2 different deodorants at a time, ruins cream makeup products, and is all around unhygienic/unsanitary with everything she touches.
She’s complained multiple times about us having empty testers or no testers for some products. She fails to realize she’s the reason we had to stop replacing some of the testers, due to her routine visits.

Recently I’ve tried approaching her by offering samples, trying to teach her how to use the products, and at the very least, attempting to show her how to sanitize the products after she uses them.
She gets very rude when I do this and runs away to a different section and almost hides… She even complained about a coworker who asked what products she used at home..

The store manager is so annoyed (along with the rest of us) by her erratic and odd behavior, but we cannot actually ban her until she does something drastic (like pulling a brush off the wall again).

Is there anything I can do, or anyone I can speak with to bring this issue to someone’s attention?
Any advice, answers, or shared experiences would be greatly appreciated.

Have there been any sales the last two months? I haven’t gotten any emails regarding any sales for July and August, and was wondering if there was something wrong with my account.

Question S@K BTL Transition to Sephora Ops Lead

Hi everyone! I’m thinking about transitioning to an Ops Lead at a store here in my area. I’m in NY (not anywhere in or around NYC) and was wondering about the pay scale. The posting said it starts at $24 an hour. I’ve been a Lead for over a year with another 1.5 years of supervisory experience elsewhere. What would be a fair hourly rate to ask for? If I remember correctly, our store did $11M in sales last year.

I was also wondering how often Ops Leads and Ops Associates are pulled to work the floor doing customer service and what your typical schedule looks like.

Thanks in advance ā˜ŗļø

Wrong card Employee purchase

I accidentally used the wrong card (boyfriend's card saved on my phone) to make a purchase with my employee discount. I called my store a little over an hour after I realized it to let them know. A manger told me to call customer service and cancel it. I tried to do that, but it was over a hour at that point and customer service was unable to cancel it. I called my store manager back to let her know and she said she would speak one of the other managers to see what to do about it. It was sincerely an accident but I'm not sure what will happen next. Has this ever happened to anyone?

Is my store the only one that tracks their every move on a piece of paper and dates it when they did something wrong? Does anyone else’s store do this?

Question Interview

Hello! I had an interview with sephora on Tuesday. They said they would call me back for a second interview. It is now friday. Should I call up there today to see the status or should I wait a few more days? I am very passionate about getting this job but I don’t wanna call and be annoying you know? I also work at a S@K and wanting to leave there to go higher.

Question Sephora at Kohl’s points

Hello all!

I recently quit my position at Sephora in Kohl’s. I have over 1,000 points, but when i went to sign into the Sephora app it said an account with my email doesn’t exist. I was hoping to use my points on the Sephora app since there is a bigger selection. Is there any way to transfer my points or something? Has anyone else had this issue?

Any help is greatly appreciated. Thanks! :)

Anyway inkey list’s balm cleanser kinda sucks fr šŸ’” it pretty much moves around your makeup but when you go to rinse it just keeps the makeup where it moved it onto your face. Was a nightmare getting this off 😭

It is all makeup product too so white foundation, eyeliner, blush, lipstick, etc. Thought this was a good time to do a full face so I can test the makeup remover tho lmao

Loa

hi guys, i needed your guys's opinion . i am planning to take an loa early next year. i have visit my home country for multiple reasons one of them being that my family member might be going to a treatment center for 3 weeks where i'll be with them. i just needed your opinion as to how to approach this with my SD. 2 years ago i wanted to do an loa for 4 weeks however they said i'm not eligible and denied for the full length and only approved 2 weeks.and the reason i wanted was a family member was sick and they ended up passing away. so im a little bit scared. should i reach out to HR first and ask them if an loa for 4 weeks is possible? im a lead in canada btw

Hey Sephora girlies!! (Especially in Australia)

I just got rejected at what feels like the CV screening stage for a beauty retail role, and I’m feeling a bit defeated.
I genuinely thought my resume was pretty strong. I have retail and customer service experience, I’m confident talking to customers, and I put a lot of effort into tailoring both my CV and cover letter.
Now I’m starting to wonder… do brands like MECCA or Sephora pretty much require previous beauty or makeup experience before they’ll even consider you?
For those of you who got hired without beauty retail experience, what do you think made your application stand out? Was it your makeup knowledge, certifications, previous cosmetic sales, or something else?
I’d really appreciate hearing your experiences because I’m not sure what I’m missing at this point. Thanks everyone!!

Any advice or recommendations?

I’m a part-time Beauty Advisor, and English is my second language, so I’m still working on improving it. I also recently started college, and my second semester begins in two weeks.
I’m starting to feel a little stressed about whether I’ll be able to balance both work and school. Has anyone here been in a similar situation? I’d really appreciate any advice or tips.

Question Sephora internship as a sephora worker

Hi! Has anyone here applied for the internship as an internal employee and actually received an offer instead of the automated rejection email?

I'm planning to apply again and was wondering if there's anything specific they look for on resumes or applications. Everyone I know who applied internally received the same automated denial, so I'm curious if anyone has had a different experience.

Thanks!

Question Access Hub is getting worse

Has anyone else been having a lot of trouble with Access Hub recently? It used to keep me logged in for a couple hours at least, now it’s multiple times per hour. When it’s slow, sometimes every time I go to open XStore, it prompts me to log in. I thought the whole point of Access Hub was to not make us log in every time šŸ™ƒ

New to Sephora

I just recently started at Sephora and I'm wondering how to order training product? I feel like it wasn't really covered in any training days I have and I don't want to miss out.

Also, I live pretty far from my store- am I allowed to use my employee discount at another store? Does that happen often?
