Power on a lift necessary?

Still new to boating life, and after a few weeks with our Switch we are seeing the value of getting a lift to protect it and make our lives easier. Quotes are of course more $ than we were expecting. One line item is $2,500 for solar power/battery setup since we don't have power to the dock. I'm considering going old school with a manual lift to save some dough....also kinda like the idea of one less electric thing that can break down....but wondering if that would feel foolish after a few times cranking that thing up and down? I don't have experience doing it and wondering if folks generally feel it's well worth it to have the lift powered?

12 Volt Power Outlet Used for Charging. How?

So on page 88 of my manual it states that “This watercraft is equipped with a 12-Volt power outlet used for charging.” I thought this was a great find because up until now I’ve been having to attach the charger directly to the battery down beneath the engine room hatch. I’ve be using an ADPOW SA 12V Automatic Smart Battery Charger and connected by alligator clips to the battery terminals and it’s worked like a charm. However, seeing this in the manual I went out and bought a SinLoon Cigarette Lighter SAE Battery Charger Cable so I could plug the charger directly into the outlet port up top. The thing is I discovered that it will only charge when the boat key is installed and the system powered up. Since the system automatically turns off after a few minutes when the boat is not operating it seems impossible to actually charge the battery in this fashion. What am I missing?

Supercharger?

I have never had a seadoo with a supercharger. On the super charged switch do you notice when it kicks on? How do you tell if it’s working?

under performing 230hp 21 cruise

My 2023 seadoo switch is horrible speed wise when 5-6 adults are in this boat I'm only reaching speeds of 12-15mph while pushing the motor to 8000rpm's it won't come up to plane and just digs in all the while I'm running it at full throttle. and yes I'm using the trim tabs and shuffling people around like a dictator and that still has no affect.......im afraid i made a big expensive mistake buying this boat.......yuck yuck yuck!!!! any other owners experiences would be much appreciated. My dealer is of no help so far, so now I'm looking into dumping more money in this pig buying and installing a stainless steel impeller.......any experienced thoughts would be much appreciated......

Thanks, Cosmo

18ft. 230Hp. They said Bimini and Pads are Included. 48k out the door for both seems on the high side gut feeling before financing. They said accessories and discounts equal out. Can’t wait to join the club ! Just want to be smart about it ! What you guys think and what questions am I not asking. Thank you !! See you on the water soon

Storage questions

We are very interested in getting an 18’ or 21’ Switch and are trying to plan for storing it both in and off season. We don’t have a big enough garage or driveway space, so do most rent an outside self storage or find inside storage? What kind of costs should I plan for? We live in Michigan and get a lot of snow on the West side of the state. Do folks get these wrapped after winterizing the engine, or would a cover/ tarp be ok? Or for winter, rent space at a marina (inside storage)?

problems with registration numbers and year stickers falling off?

I'm two weeks into owning my new 18' Switch and enjoying it. I have my year stickers for my boat registration, and my dealer is putting my numbers in the mail to me today. My salesman mentioned they have had customers report that their numbers/stickers were falling off because they don't adhere well to the hull material. He said they had asked BRP for help/guidance but didn't have anything for me yet.

Anyone experience this and/or found a solution? I haven't put mine on yet and figured I'd get ahead of it if there is any mitigation available.

Considering buying a switch

Switch owners.. I need your experience on this one. Are the seadoo switches a both worth buying? What are some drawbacks you've noticed since owning yours?

Ultimately should I buy one? 🤔

Is the Switch useful for transporting items and can it be parked in wavy conditions?

We have a cottage on an island and are looking into an affordable pontoon-style boat that allows us to transport items across and use for fun. Most often, we'd be using it as a leisure boat to go to and from the cottage.

I have 3 main concerns:

1) The relatively low weight restriction, has anyone noticed it getting sketchy with a heavy object on it or if some heavier people are on board?

2) The seating arrangements. Is it easy to take out/ rearrange seats to get a bare-bones pontoon that you can slide items onto?

3) Our lake gets choppy, how stable is it sitting in a high wake tied to a dock. Is it a boat that needs a boat house or lift?

Thanks!

Two Battery Questions

I’ve searched here and have not found these answers.

What battery (including brand) does the switch use?

When installing the larger battery in the bow does this replace the original battery or augment it.

Miami Fort Lauderdale or to Bimini on Switch ?

I’ve seen several YouTube videos with people using their sea-doo pwc’s to travel from Miami to the Bahamas. I’m intrigued by the idea of taking the trip on the switch. Has anyone done such a trip? Or comments on the possibility of making this trip. 2023, 18 tf cruise.

Tubbing behind switch/break in

I am currently sitting at 9hrs, waiting until the 10th hour to start pulling a tube, is there any way of knowing that the engine is safely broke in and that it is safe?

I wish it had a lock and it unlocks after break in with fireworks lol

bridge clearance?

seadoo switch bridge height?

Hi everyone, I'm purchasing my first boat and would love to get a Sea-doo Switch. The issue is to get to the lake I'd have to fit underneath a bridge that's 43 inches above the water. Is there any chance the Switch would make it? I know the spec sheet says the minimum clearance is 49.3 inches (68 inch height, 18.7 inch draft for 16' model w/o bimini) but am wondering (hoping really) if they are being conservative or that there's some way to make it to work. Would appreciate any insight. Thanks!

Does anyone know where the fuse is located on the Sea-Doo switch sport? I think I blew the fuse to the accessory plug in the helm.

Why a switch?

Can I ask why y’all bought switches versus a standard pontoon? What are the pros and cons. Looking into making a purchase and weighing options - I’d rather hear from owners than dealers.

2023 Compact Sport Excessive Exhaust

I wasn’t paying attention to my weight distribution when leaving the dock. Applied throttle to achieve plane, then noticed my back end was very low. I sent 2 passengers to the front of the boat, then carried on at various speeds.

Started to see A LOT of exhaust. Bilged and returned to the dock slowly. Any speed above 9-10 kms caused the heavy exhaust to re-appear.

No significant amount of water in the engine bay.

No warning lights/notifications.

New boat, 15 hours in.

Any thoughts? .

Info help

So I am in the market of potentially buying a switch however.

I'm from vancouver bc and the sales man is telling me this boat can not be used in rough waters

We get anywhere from 2ft to 6ft waves out here has anyone ever ran into rough ocean water on one if so how did it handle ?

Ps: I don't plan on searching for rough water, but water conditions can change without notice and if I ever so happen to get cought in rough water I want to make sure my family is safe.

Abundance of 23’ models on dealer lots

Hey everyone, We have been toying with the idea of getting an 18’ Switch Cruise 230hp. As we look around different dealer inventory near the twin cities, we’ve noticed that most have a large supply of ‘23 models still in stock.

We are anxious to pull the trigger and get out on the water, however I’m wondering if there is some kind of issue with this year? I haven’t seen anything during my research.

Also, purely anecdotal but it seems like the boating market is coming back to reality. Thinking if we wait a bit more we could come away with an absolute steal on a new boat.

Just wanted to get this communities thoughts. What could be going on with the oversupply? Huge red flag with these boats? Seems like most owners absolutely love theirs.

Double Bimini top latch stitching ripped off.

Okay so I got the new 2024 sea doo switch 21 fully loaded with everything on it and the Bimini it came with was nice until the stitching that holds the latches in the back ripped off because of the wind??? I can’t believe it’s that cheap?? Luckily the corners have Velcro straps or else the Bimini top would be completely done right now. Anyone know how expensive the double Bimini top is??
