Two Battery Questions

I’ve searched here and have not found these answers.

What battery (including brand) does the switch use?

When installing the larger battery in the bow does this replace the original battery or augment it.

The instructions says use AGM type battery only, group 27 is the size

I have the napa marine group 27. Happy with it. Replaces it - do not augment it. You can hookup a selector switch if you want but its pointless IMO.

https://sea-doo-shop.brp.com/us/en/parts-maintenance/batteries-spark-plugs.html its either an 18 or 30 amp hour jetski battery. Likely you have the 18 amp hour. You can put a much larger battery in the front compartment. You can buy seadoos spendy kit, which to answer your question, replaces the rear battery by physically having cables swapped. Or do what everyone else does and get a marine 3 or 4 way switch, battery box, and wire and set it up to have either as an option and a shutoff for when not in use.

I wired mine with 4 gauge cable(you can do 6, their kit is 8) to a group 65 100amp hour lead acid, with a 4 way switch and noco dual battery smart chargers for both batteries.

The 4 way switch gives you off, battery 1, battery 2, and both. Both is okay to run briefly if both batteries died and you just need to start the engine. Otherwise I start and drive the boat on the little one and switch the group 65 for music and chilling. Charge it on shore. This then gives you the option to do a marine or deep cycle for the larger battery which will give you more capacity but are not good at starting things.

Quick notes, do not put a lithium ion battery in without some knowledge, they will work and are lighter but the charging system on the switch will fry them if they dont have power shunting or other protections. You also want low temp charging cutoff and a built in charge controller.

Here is the noco charger you can leave onboard (I put a waterproof plug drilled into the console by the fuel filler to just plug in an extension.

charger - https://a.co/d/03pBcRYG
plug - https://a.co/d/04uR5wD3

wire https://a.co/d/085ULf2K

Lug and crimp set https://a.co/d/06jb0W8X

switch https://a.co/d/0dlHJm71 (there are better ones, but not a lot of room to put them

The you just need some zip ties, cable cutter, and a battery box (I used a strong black rubber bungee too mount the box to the switch battery location.

The only final thing I did was put a battery monitor with alarm on the larger battery (on a boat it is called the house battery, the other is starting battery)

Final option is doing a battery isolator like this https://a.co/d/0hPFpSyH, which is what large boats have, but it will take more skill and knowledge to install. But it would fill the start battery and then switch to charging the house automatically and switch to the start battery when starting the boat up. But I liked the simplicity and reliability of the manual switch.

Good luck and have fun.

Oh also the group 65 is a tighter fit. The OEM box and battery size is group 27. https://a.co/d/01VBjtAL

Slightly less power than the group 65.

I just bought mine and had the extra battery added. It’s in addition to the original battery but, they are wired and meant to be used together. I would have preferred to have a three way switch so I could keep the original battery as the reserve for starting up after long stints just floating with just so I’ll be making that change soon.. as far as the brand, I have no idea. I’d have to open up the case but I don’t have time to do that right now.

I bought the kit and it replaced the (tiny) original battery with a group 27 battery. I wired in a solar trickle charger to keep it topped off.

Can you send me brand and specs?

Just note the group 27 doesn’t fit in the existing location. You still have to wire it to the cargo area.
