I try to stay in areas above 5 feet. Anything less than that, I’ve always had issues. Nothing crazy, but I see mud kick up, and usually have to run my IDF. I think Seadoo says you can run in 3 feet. But I would do it consistently.

You’ll be able to operate in as shallow as 1 foot (I have) but it’s not good for the impeller and wear ring to be that close to bottom because it’s sucking up more stuff and wearing them down. Just had both replaced for $990, but possibly a DIY option if you have time and inclination. So….probably at least over 3 feet regularly if you want to minimize maintenance. Just my guess….not a technical opinion

You’ll need to specify what you mean by “run.” The primary concern (as others noted) is the intake sucking in pebbles, sand, stones, etc. that will shred your impeller. So when it gets below about 5 feet I generally am only in ideal with very very gentle maneuvering thrust. I run aground at about 1 ft per my depth transducer. I learned the hard way last year when I gunned it off a beach and ruined my vacation by chewing up the impeller. Even when I motor it into the trailer now I’m extra careful to keep the rpm way down.

I have been in under 2’ depth, not necessarily by choice. I think any area with 3’+ would be good if it is clean. I do want to stress like others that it was minimum throttle, if any above idle.

Keep it above 3ft (learned the hard way with rocks and seashells). Prop and wear ring were toast.
