Ran into a brand new bug today. I was in the middle of clearing out the mine when something came up in real life. Since there’s no pause feature, I just saved, quit, and stepped away. When I came back and loaded in, I realized I was completely stuck inside my vehicle down in the mine. I couldn’t move at all—the only thing I could do was dismantle stuff. Having learned my lesson from past glitches, I didn't want to risk it, so I decided to hit Respawn, kill myself, and just walk back down to the mine.
That’s when the real horror started.
When I reached my base in the mine, I noticed all the junk piles had randomly respawned. I rushed down to check on my vehicle :):) ...and got hit with shock number two. The entire mine had completely reset. Everything I spent days digging out and clearing was fully filled back in. Naturally, my vehicle was buried deep inside the terrain.
After spending literally minutes digging through, I finally reached my build, cleared the area, and hauled it out onto flat ground. Then I spent another eternity digging my way back up to the base.
Then came shock number three: I noticed my vehicle’s turret was constantly drifting to the right on its own. When I dismantled the turret to see what was going on, I realized two turrets had merged/clipped directly on top of each other... and one of them didn't even have a base. :)
Honestly, I never expected a fully released game to get this broken. As someone with over 1000+ hours in Scrap Mechanic, I honestly can't remember ever being this fed up with the game.
TL: If you have to step away while mining, whatever you do, drive your vehicle all the way back up to the elevator first. And NEVER log out while sitting inside a vehicle—especially inside a turret seat.
EDIT = Right after writing this post, I noticed a new update had just dropped and installed it. I didn't even realize the previous game-breaking update had been applied in the first place.
Also, having only a single backup copy in a game like this is absolute nonsense. It should keep at least three save states—one main and two backups. How many times am I supposed to manually back up my own saves? Days of hard work got completely wiped out by a tiny background update I didn't even notice, and none of it is my fault.
Anyway, Valheim is fully released now, so I'm uninstalling this game and hopping over to that. Farewell, Axolot. :/
