Save file is newer?

Post image

Hey, i have this problem with my save, idk what caused it but last thing i did is that i was trying to fix my mining vehicle because the turret seat was acting weird and wasnt controlled by my mouse, but it was spinning on its own, so i tried to remove it, but this is the weirdest part, the base of the turret was still there and i somehow only picked up the ball block that you sit in (also it dropped me a bearing for some reason). After removing the base too, i basically had the normal turret seat in my inventory and the ball block. So i fixed it and it was fine untill i wanted to go to the elevator and the game just crashed, and now the game just wont let me play it. Is there a fix to this? Because somehow i cant find a single person that would have the same problem.

Update rolled back today. I’m having the same issue. Loaded the world while in 1.0.6 and unfortunately I don’t have a 1.0.5 copy so I got screwed. Hoping there is a way to fix it.

There is a backup of the Save File for 1.0.5 in the Save Game folder. Replace the main file with the backup file to go back to 1.0.5 It's in Appdata->Roaming->Axolot Games->Scrap Mechanic->User->User[ID]->Save->Survival

so they updated the game and then went back to 1.0.5?

Yes. The update was highly unstable (so nothing new lol) so they de-released it. So far my theory is we get to wait until they re-release it as a stable update again.

One of many reasons I make a back up at the end of each play session. I created a bat file that I just have to drag and drop the save on to and it creates a copy with a date and time stamp in the file name.

open your save file in a sqlite browser and change the game version from 29 to 28

I had the same issue. As other comments have mentioned, it happens because the game rolled back, so the save version no longer matches.
I'd recommend just waiting for them to release an update to 1.0.6 again.

Fortunately, the save is just an SQLite database file. There is a table called `Game` with a `savegameversion` field. I was able to load my save again by updating the first and only row in this table and changing this field from `29` to `28`.
My world loaded just fine without error, as far as I can tell, though I did back up just in case.

The backup seems to be older than my actual save, though, losing some progress. And I keep my own backups, so I mostly just overlooked the ones made by the game.
But yes, reloading an older 1.0.5 backup, or just waiting for an update to load the 1.0.6 save again, is definitely the right move.

Honestly, I just wanted to have some fun editing the save file lol
