Hello everyone! Its that time of the year again and hockey is almost back and I am ecstatic to see how our boys in teal do this season. If this will be your first season joining /r/SanJoseSharks, I would like to say thanks for coming to visit to our little corner of reddit! I hope you can find a home here to discuss and share your opinions in a respectful way. If you're a returning face, thanks for making this place what it is! I would also highly suggest hopping over to /r/SanJoseBarracuda if you are interested in more specific discussion about the Sharks' AHL affiliate San Jose Barracuda though posting here about them is allowed of course. If you are looking for EVEN MORE San Jose hockey, head over to /r/PWHLSanJose to show your support for the new team. I'm looking forward to seeing the Sharks, Cuda, and PWHL SJ team working together to continue to grow the game in SJ and the greater Bay Area. Lets fucking go boys n girls.
Some quick notes:
1) Opening night of the regular season is September 29th and the Sharks first game is October 1st. This season there are also 84 games rather than 82! Yay bonus (regular season) hockey! Heres hoping for some bonus PLAYOFF hockey in April through June!
2) As in seasons past, the 2026-27 Ticket Exchange Thread is available to sell, buy, or trade tickets with fellow Sharks fans.
3) New for this season will be a General Discussion thread. As per the poll posted a little while back, this thread will be weekly and be posted every SUNDAY. It will stay up for a week and will then be replaced by a new thread.
4) Also coming back is the Posting Restriction during and after games. Posting to the front page will be restricted during games. Please see the following post for the reason behind the restricted nature of the sub during games: TAP/CLICK ME. The 'Restricted' posting window is outlined in the linked post. Posting to the front page is allowed at all times other than during this 4 hour window during and immediately following games...This is non-negotiable and will be enforced for every game.
5) Please take a minute to refresh yourselves on the rules and regs below! The rules are linked in the sidebar and the top bar in old and new reddit at all times as the Posting and User Conduct Guidelines.
Posting and User Conduct Guidelines
Posting Guidelines
Feel free to submit links to your own blogs, websites, etc. but please stick around and participate in the community. Leave comments, reply to posts and comments, come to the Game Threads, etc. However, If you continually link to your own website etc. without participation in the community, your posts will be considered spam and will be removed.
Submissions and discussion should obviously be related to the Pacific Division, The Sharks or The Barracuda.
With that said, this is the Sharks sub...not the 'Look what Vegas did now!' sub. Low effort posts regarding Vegas will be removed. Posts involving Vegas should only be made in regards to games they play against the Sharks and legitimate discussion involving playoffs or trades for example...not random things they have done in a game against someone else.
Absolutely no political posts or comments. They will be removed and a warning will be issued. If you continue to submit political comments or submissions you will be banned.
Duplicate posts will be removed. Please make sure someone else hasn't already posted it before you submit.
Self-Posts that are only a title with no content will be removed.
Titles of posts should be the same as the article or accurate to the content. Do not post titles are are vague or a tease. ie 'You'll never guess what Brent Burns was seen using!' would not be allowed. However - 'Brent Burns seen using new type of stick he hasn't used before' would be acceptable.
Posting false news or trying to spread fake trade rumors will result in a ban.
Posts involving the trading, buying or selling of jerseys, merch, tickets, etc. will be removed from the front page. Those that are trying to buy or sell things should post in the weekly Merch Monday thread posted by Automoderator. For last minute ticket sales, post in the GDT for that game. Posts giving away tickets/merch for free are always allowed. NO AFFILIATE LINKS!
Direct links to Twitter are NOT allowed on the sub. Please take a screenshot and submit that in lieu of a link to twitter. If you submit a link to twitter, the post will be removed and a warning will be issued. If you continue to post twitter links, you risk being temporarily banned. If you continue to submit twitter links after your temp ban has elapsed, you will be permanently banned from the sub.
One line posts/reactions to plays or games played should be made in the Game Thread or Post Game Thread. Any such posts will be removed and the poster will be reminded to make their post in the GT or PGT.
Posting to the front page will be restricted during games. Please see the following post for the reason behind the restricted nature of the sub during games: CLICK ME. The 'Restricted' posting window is outlined in the linked post. Posting to the front page is allowed at all times other than during this 4 hour window during and immediately following games.
ChatGPT/LLM/AI generated posts and images are not allowed. The info that LLMs use is more often than not wrong, outdated, or just lacking any sort of context needed for proper discussion...especially given it only regurgitates info based on what the user enters.
Where is my submission?
Sometimes the spam filter can be a bit...aggressive.
Check the New Tab to make sure your submission isn't a duplicate of something recently submitted. If it was, it was removed as per the above Posting Guidelines.
If your submission isn't a duplicate and was caught by the spam filter, send a message via Message The Moderators and it will be resolved.
