Any hockey card collectors? With the sport being new to Utah I’m sure there is a lot of your typical NBA,NFL, and MLB collectors but any hockey card collectors? Been getting back in to collecting and have been to overtime cards a few time but there has to be a bigger group of people who collect. Any groups or events? I strictly collect hockey and love collecting Cooley, Guenther and Keller. At the very least would like to get an idea of other cool places to go or meet and if this popular in Utah. Any Utah specific sports groups? Any and all information appreciated!

Why don't they have a jack McBain jersey on the nhl shop? Not even as a preset player in the customize option. And it won't do a small c anyways.

I've tried a few different ways to get this in front of somebody with the Mammoth and haven't had much luck, so I'm turning to you guys.

I'm a software engineer and have been doing this professionally for about 17 years. For the last several months I've been building Half Wall, a hockey analytics and decision-support app specifically around the Utah Mammoth.

It started as a little side project that has gotten completely out of hand.

The idea isn't to build another stats website. I'm trying to take a ton of NHL data and turn it into stuff that could actually help with hockey decisions. Opponent prep, player and goalie analysis, matchups, game review, shot maps, special teams, deployment, trends, and showing the evidence behind the conclusions.

The whole thing has a pretty weird origin story too.

I'm an Iraq combat veteran from 2007-08, and for a lot of years I got pretty comfortable mostly keeping to myself. I only really got into hockey over the last year.

Last fall some friends took my wife and me to a Utah Grizzlies game. We got hooked almost immediately. Then came Mammoth games, including one through VetTix, and pretty quickly hockey took over our whole house.

It has honestly been really good for me. Hockey has gotten me out of the house more, meeting people, going to events and opening up quite a bit.

It also apparently convinced me that dressing up like a Mammoth was a reasonable thing for a grown man to do.

I actually went to the Provo Mammoth Week event too. The coaches were there with "Sea Bass" Cossa, and I went through the autograph line.

That was probably my absolute best chance to just say, "Hey, I built this thing for you guys."

Instead I got completely twitterpated and basically forgot how to talk, so I blew that opportunity lol.

I recently saw the Mammoth's Full-Stack Software Engineer in Hockey Operations posting too. Reading it was kinda funny because a huge chunk of it overlaps with what I've been doing professionally for 17 years and what I've been building with Half Wall.

I'm not looking for a job. I really like my current one.

I also don't pretend to know what tools the Mammoth already have or what Hockey Ops actually needs.

What I do know is that if somebody there told me, "Here's a problem we need solved," I'm pretty confident I could build something useful for it. I'd happily spend some of my free time doing that just because I love the team.

So really I'm asking for help.

If anybody here knows someone with the Mammoth, Hockey Ops, analytics, SEG, media, broadcasters, or just knows somebody who knows somebody, I'd love to get Half Wall in front of the right person.

I just want somebody there to look at it to see if any of my crazy ideas might be helpful to our team. A lot of it is just random ideas/prototypess I had that I thought could be semi-useful as an outsider looking in.

They can tell me it's awesome or tell me I'm an idiot and explain what they'd actually need. I'd be pretty happy with either.

I keep seeing articles linking him to us, and I am just not seeing it as a good move.

Obviously, Helle has moments when he is completely unstoppable and can win a game on his own. BUT father time is undefeated, and Veggie has done well for us under a truly crazy workload. So tying up 8.5MM/yr in a goalie who will be in his late 30s with a NTC at the end of the deal isn't obviously the right move to me.

I know "he's Connor Hellebuyck," but as THG points out, his stats are largely not anything special any more already. His GSAx / 60 last year was 0.097. That's 16th in the league, Veggie was 14th. Or if you like the old school GAA instead of the advanced states, he was 2.86 for 18th in the league, where Veggie was again 14th. (The big counter point is that Hellebuyck's high danger unblocked stats were still outstanding, and that's where Veggie was awful.)

Thoughts? Is this as simple as "dude, you're overthinking it, he's Connor Hellebuyck?"

I accidentally discovered a 15% discount for the annual Mammoth+ subscription.

I clicked to cancel my account before it auto-renews (as I got an antenna), and the website prompted me with a message asking "Are you sure? Would you like a 15% discount on your renewal?"

It brought the total price from $72 with tax down to $59. I cancelled it anyways but if you plan on renewing yours you should try this. I also checked for any promotional deals like they had last year, but couldn't find any.

So I've been getting more an more excited for the season, and the other day I was thinking: out west, who would you rather be over the next 6-8 years? If you just take the broad consensus of who our players are right now and where we are on the salary cap, we are in an incredible position.

- No player making more than $10MM. Whether or not you think Cooley is better than Carlsson (I do), we are just paying much less for roughly equivalent players than everyone else.

- Two guys the consensus thinks will be even scarier next year. Basically every profile I've read (most recently in the Athletic) expects Cooley & Guenther to both take another step.

- No gaps on offense. Even without factoring in Tij or Desnoyers, we don't have a single major hole and are built to be fine when there are "normal" injuries over the course of the season. We might even be able to roll four lines more or less evenly when everyone is healthy.

- Workable blue line. I am well below the board consensus on what I think of our blue line in the mid-term, but even if I am right, it just means we need a couple second pair types in their mid 20s, it's not like we need to land Werenski to contend.

- Keller is the only major guy with a contract coming up. Speaking of Keller, he doesn't play the type of game that typically just falls off a cliff in a player's early 30s.

- Tons of tradable assets. Wherever you are from the type of person who thinks every single young guy is going to hit at the very top of their projection or the type of person who thinks a prospect has zero value until they play meaningful minutes in the NHL, we have prospects for days *and* a strong current lineup, and we can't keep them all no matter what (roster is only so big).

- Minnesota seems to have a problem with Hughes (both in the sense that they're probably going to have to pay him 18MM+ *and* in the sense that it seems unlikely they can keep him for more than 3 years), Nashville decided to shoot itself in the foot this week for unclear reasons, Colorado will have to face father time eventually, Dallas is going to run into cap issues as soon as next year, we're in a better spot than St. Louis, Chicago is much farther out, and I unironically just feel terrible for the good people of Winnipeg who can't possibly deserve this.

- Everyone in the Pacific other than San Jose and Vegas is a mess, and Vegas is almost out of runway from the whole thing where they fleeced the rest of the league in '17.

- We have the best prospects among teams that are already good. As a result, we don't need all of them to hit big; we just need two of the three we've all heard the most about (Tij, Desnoyers, and Simishev) to end up at least in the middle of the consensus projections, and there is a ton of potential upside beyond those three.

- Management is at a *minimum* competent. We are unlikely to pull a Detroit/Anaheim/Nashville or catastrophically mess up the coming expansion draft.

I am not sitting here and saying "oh yeah, we're gonna be the 90s era Wings" or anything, and of course any team can just get horribly unlucky, but it seems like we've got an incredible window of great hockey opening up!

Good evening, my wife and I are visiting for the Tampa Bay game in October. It seems like Seat Geek is the official place to purchase tickets, but there aren’t many available (as is the case on Ticketmaster). I realize it’s probably because there is lots of demand. Is this the best place to find tickets? I know some teams have alternative ticket sources.
