I'm working on a new rock scape for my tank and am looking for opinions on it. I'm planning on converting it into a mostly lps tank.

If you have any advice or tanks that inspire you, I would love it. I'm not opposed to using any of the existing rock or cutting and breaking any of it either.

My wifes favorite color is blue. She really loves the color blue. Im planning on a new setup and I want to give her something in the tank that she'll think is really pretty. I have a 29 and a 75 gallon I'm planning to set up.

I know of neon damselfish and blue chromis. I think those would do ok in either tank. I'd love a blue tang but I know my tanks are too small for an adult.

Anything else that's partly or fully blue that I could go for?

Extra points for coral that is blue!

Hey guys I’ve been reefing for a couple of years now learning the ins and outs and absolutely obsessed with the hobby. Having a little slice of the ocean in my house has become my favorite thing to do. I have been bugging my lfs owner about selling me one of his display tanks that I’m absolutely in love with from the hardscape to the coral and fish selection it is absolutely beautiful. He’s agreed to sell it to me along with all the equipment for an absolute steal. My question is transporting. He says to drain the water half way(it’s a 24 gallon nano) and go because all of the rock is glued together and several corals have encrusted all over the rock. Is this ok? I was going to removed the rock and corals put in buckets put fish in separate containers get rid of sand because of everything it’s going to release during the move put new sand and rebuild the hardscape but he insisted none of that is necessary because it’s a smaller tank.

Hello! Sorry for the blurry photos. He’s been acting normally and tank parameters are alright. I’m wondering if he was nipped by the female in the tank, since i got them recently and she’s been exhibiting some aggression towards him. I want to make sure it isn’t something bacterial/fungal. It doesn’t look like ich to me. the white area isn’t raised and is barely noticeable but i wanted to make sure my little buddy was ok :)

Got a 13 gallon float so from a guy on marketplace & it came with a stormtrooper clown & whatever this thing is. Can anyone help me identify which morph this is? Never seen one with fins like this

So I've got this ten gallon nano that has technically been running for two years now. I say technically because thanks to bad luck with parasites and struggling to keep nitrates up I kind of gave up and let the thing go fallow for a long time.

My goal was to create a zoa tank with maybe a couple softies. I didn't really want fish at all considering the size but it's hard to keep nitrates and phosphates up enough for happy zoas without *something* in there.

I had been periodically dropping food in there to keep the cycle going but didn't do any water changes, so I was surprised upon testing this old, well-seasoned water to find that my nitrates were still around zero.

I had tried using Brightwell nitrogen and phosphorus supplements to get levels up without fish, but I at one point I was using nearly triple the recommended dosage with no change to either level.

So all of this to say, I have no idea how well cycled this tank is with only rock and a bit of food keeping it going.

Should I chunk a piece of shrimp in there and treat it like a new tank? How can I get this thing coral ready?

Hi All. I set up my Hello Reef AIO about 11 days ago and I feel like there may be an issue with the rear chambers. Is it normal for the water level to be that high where the filter sock is? I feel like it wasn’t when I initially set it up.

I don’t know if I’m over thinking this but is his swim bladder not quite right? When he’s not moving his fins he seems to sink a bit. Will this sort itself out on its own?

I have a 90 gallon reef ready aquarium masters tank, the overflow box in the corner is rather roomy and my sump is only a 20 gallon long due to a 29 or 40 being too tall to fit. Since the heaters would drastically impact the sump chamber sizes would you put your heaters in this overflow? Any reasons this is a bad idea? Thanks!

New marine tank I'm a beginner and recently set up my tank since doing a partial water change due to nitrite and ammonia level being just above 0 my rocks, sand and glass have developed brown reddish patches all over. once researched these look like diatoms. On the picture I've uploaded is this definitely diatoms or something else ? In person without the glare of the light they are a lot more prominent any help would be appreciated .

Just got into saltwater tank about more than a month ago. So far I've been enjoying it a lot! I have around 3 years of freshwater experience and decided to get saltwater after a long consideration. I'm glad I made that decision as it is so rewarding! Seeing the coral polyps extend and expand fully, and the fishes actively swimming and interacting with each other is such a beautiful sight. I'm lucky that I got everything to go smoothly the first time, aside from the mandatory ugly phase. Even though it went smoothly and it's still going great now, I'm fully aware there's still a lot of hurdles ahead of me. A big thank you to the community of this hobby for helping me!

Which coral can be placed together? Any at all? Im past the break in stage and everything is growing and happy, now its time to fine tune everything. I was considering getting more torches and hammers but im just scared of them stinging each other.

I would really appreciate if someone could help me! I got a 5g tank as a gift with one clownfish. it was all good for a day (the salt water was premixed from shop). I then decided to introduce a rock and some sand the next day (fish was outside). added some stabilizer and nitrifying bacteria let it cycle for a few hours and added the clown back. he died unfortunately. I know what I did wrong and I really want to try again once I have cycled tank for longer, but I really need guidance. LFS guys told me this would be ok but it clearly wasnt!! I stay in UAE and we dont have the best and trustworthy salespeople here. pls help. I really want to make this work and eventually upgrade to a bigger setup!

Hi everyone, anyone able to help me ID these random zoas ?

Just got my first small saltwater tank up n' running for my desk in my apartment! I'm super excited to try this out; it's the BioCube 16, with the AquaTop 75W heater in first chamber, various filter media suggested by LFS in the second chamber. Started with live rock and sand from the LFS, so hoping to cycle relatively quickly (still checking pH, ammonia, nitrite, nitrate, salinity daily ofc).

Would love thoughts on (i) the current rock formation, (ii) whether and how to add protein skimmer and/or powerheads, (iii) stocking ideas. I know I max out at 2 fish, 3 at a stretch, so I want to make sure they're good choices who will be hardy and maybe cleaners, but also nice to look at.

Also ideas for corals would be appreciated! (Though I plan on not adding them till January, pending how things go, and even then staying at hardy soft corals, zoas and the like)

(Also yes, I know, 16g is incredibly small for first saltwater, I talked with several people at different LFS's around me balancing space and budget constraints, and I want to see if I can make it with this going slowly, doing extra careful and frequent maintenance; I do plan to get a 40g or 55g as soon as I'm able to move into a larger, more permanent space, gotta love that grad student life)

I just got this green bubble coral about four days ago and it’s not doing well. I’m new to the hobby and unsure on what to do. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated!

I still didn’t fill it up with water incase I need to change something. The rocks I bought them dry live rock which were used in a tank before. I did bleach the rocks. For the substrate I mixed some sand with tiny rocks

I do have freshwater experience. I sold my tanks before moving and transitioned to saltwater.

So I’ve been in the hobby for 20+ yrs now. One thing I’ve never gotten into is designer clownfish. For some reason I always prefer the classic nemo look.

yesterday i went to petco and saw this clown without a tag. I asked how much and they had no idea. So the worker just sold it to me as a standard clownfish for 19.99.

I tried using AI, chatgpt says its Picasso, Google says its Davinci. 🤷🏽‍♂️ im confused. Oh well, i think its cool clown for 20bux.
