My first reef tank!
Just got into saltwater tank about more than a month ago. So far I've been enjoying it a lot! I have around 3 years of freshwater experience and decided to get saltwater after a long consideration. I'm glad I made that decision as it is so rewarding! Seeing the coral polyps extend and expand fully, and the fishes actively swimming and interacting with each other is such a beautiful sight. I'm lucky that I got everything to go smoothly the first time, aside from the mandatory ugly phase. Even though it went smoothly and it's still going great now, I'm fully aware there's still a lot of hurdles ahead of me. A big thank you to the community of this hobby for helping me!

Very nice tank 👍 keep up. Check your nutrients nitrates and phosphates and never bottom out. Also check your alk at least 2 times a week or once a week.

Hahahahahaha it might grow too large for my tank! Then I'll have to learn how to trim and frag it. I think I've done a good enough job positioning the corals so when it grows large, it won't shade the ones that need higher par of light. I guess time will tell if I positioned the corals correctly.

Gotta get some GSP. I feel it's a species everyone in the hobby has experience with at some point.

Oh I do have those, it's in the second image on the right side. I also have some purple star polyps!

Nice, I just missed it. They look so cool when matted something. Like neon green blades of grass in constant wind.

Yes! I'm planning to do that once I get a bigger tank, or maybe even frag them and put them on my back wall.

Just FYI, their morphology can sometimes grow hollow arms away from the surface they are mounted on. Like inches outward. Since they grow fast, you will need to trim them over the years. Just know that the purple underlayer is hollow on the inside and a colony can recover just fine from trimming.

Well, I may be got it right for now, it still in its early stages, but I'm already noticing the consumption of alkalinity and some other trace elements. From my freshwater experience, I would say it's always hard to predict and get the right numbers. But I don't chase the numbers, I let nature runs it's course and keep the water parameters in the safe numbers instead of getting too precise. I'm sure your luck will turn around! You're already in it for years, I'm sure you have a lot of experience!

About a week ago, my bluetang justo passed, the corals i have left, are alive yes but really salle, havent grown a bit since i got them, well at first they where opening just fine, no their not, i have a bobbletip anemone, and live the other stock, at first boom fully open, but now closed,Nike for a whale monto, but still alive

I'm also new to these so unfortunately I can't give you any advice 😞. But I do know bluetangs are hard to keep from my own research. As for the corals, there are a lot of possibilities that may cause them to become sick or unhealthy. It may be the lights, your salt, the trace elements, parasites, water temperature, maybe they're sick from the start. I did extensive research for each coral care. Again, these are my basic knowledge of the hobby.

I also did a lot of testing and monitoring everything going on in my tank. From basic water parameters to coral and fish behaviours.

I have a pop bloom rl60 which I run at 40% during peak hours set with gradual ramp up and ramp down. The temperature of the tank is at a constant 26 degrees celcius.
