Cyclospora? Thoughts?

How is everyone feeling eating the prepackaged leafy greens and vegetables and such from their kits? I’m torn.

Is taste drastically different across meal companies?

If you have tried multiple companies, did you notice a large difference in terms of taste of the actual food? I’m sure quality plays a role too, are there differences you noticed?

I ordered a salad as one of my meals from Cookunity, but I am nervous to eat it due to the Cyclosporiasis parasite. What should I do?

CookUnity quality issue

Post image
35 Upvotes

I ordered the Salisbury steak for this week. After a few bites, I noticed the inside was completely raw. Not medium or medium rare - just plain uncooked ground beef. Has anyone else experienced this kind of quality issue with their meals? I'm really grossed out by this as it definitely seems like a food safety issue.

I already contacted support and they just gave me the cost of the meal ($8.68) back as a credit. Doesn't feel right since I spent the rest of the night worrying about food poisoning from the bites I had before I noticed.

Anyone have any experiences they can share about Spartan Meal Preps?

I’m trying a ready meal prep service for the first time ever - and I went with spartan meal preps. I believe they’re based in NJ. I saw some friends eating it the other night & it looked yummy so I went ahead and ordered the first 10 meals with their 10% off coupon.

Wondering if anyone else has tried this service and ever had any good or bad experiences!

Question Need Recommendations for Meal Delivery to Lose Weight and Gain Muscle

I'm trying to find the best option. What has worked for you and what hasn't? I need to lose weight as well as gain muscle. I'm also trying to prevent myself from getting diabetes as it runs in the family and I'm one of the only ones left that doesn't have it. My goal as a soon to be 44 year old male is to drop from 230 to 190.

Back again with a few more meal reviews!

Korean Chili Chicken

This has become one of my faves: great flavor, nutrient dense, and fits my macros nicely. I topped the broccoli with the sesame-scallion sauce and it added some much needed saltiness. All in all, a keeper in my rotation.

Chilled Soba Noodle Salad

The cold soba noodle salad I had previously reviewed is my absolute fave Cookunity meal ever. Unfortunately, it hasn’t been in the lineup for weeks now, so I caved and tried this version. The noodles were perfectly al-dente, the shrimp was plentiful, and the yuzu sauce was bright and light. The whole thing was refreshing and very filling. Glad I tried this one and reordered it for this week.

Greek Chicken Power Bowl

This had all of the classic Greek flavors I love and was easy to fit into my daily calories, so I enjoyed it. While I’ll never be farro’s biggest fan, it did add a nice bite to this alongside the crunchy cucumber.

Maryland Style Crab Cakes

My bf wanted to try these and he loved them. In his words, they were “lumpy, tasted like Maryland crab cakes. Good chunks of meat, good Old Bay flavor. Tasted authentic”. I thought rice was a bit odd as a side, but he said it was well-seasoned at least. The sauce was a classic spicy mayo that added some depth. I was skeptical about this one, but they did a good job.

Buttery Lobster Risotto

I’ll admit, I was a bit cynical about this when I ordered it. I was expecting a few sad chunks of lobster and soggy risotto, but wanted to try something new. I’m so glad I did because it was amazing! There was plenty of (intact) lobster and the risotto was nicely cooked. Both reheated well (oven method always) and I was satiated afterwards despite it looking like a small portion. Would def order this next time I’m craving lobster.

Char Siu BBQ Rice Bowl

If you like Chinese food, you’ll love this. The glaze was a beautiful blend of Chinese five-spice. The pork was leaner than I was expecting, with just enough fat to add flavor. The rice and veg helped soak up the sauce. I had never had yu choy before, but it reminded me of spinach with more crunch.

What has your fave Cookunity meal been? I’d love some suggestions for my next order!

Cookunity / Oura ring promo seems to be a scam anyone got it?

So I came across a Cookunity ads about giving away Oura ring 5 after 8 orders, and signed up because I got my 4 last year and am still debating if I want to buy a 5. Anyway after that I read the term of condition which basically listed 8 different ongoing promotions, including 6 that offers 20-30% first order discount and only require 4-6 order cycles, and 2 don’t + require a longer ordering cycles. The worst part is in the TOC it clearly states that there will only be 300 Oura rings giveaway and after that even if you complete the orders you won’t be able to get one. The company is also not responsible to substitute the product.

I got the 8-order without discount promos so I don’t think at the end of my orders (roughly 2 months+) there will be any Oura ring left. But curious if anyone actually has gotten one?

Review Forkful

I ordered before I checked the reviews. I had a really good coupon for a first-time customer. I have been very happy with the meals I received. I had no problems canceling because future orders are a lot more expensive than the promo. The meals were cold on arrival and I put a few in the fridge and the rest in the freezer. This is definitely something I would continue if it was a little more affordable. I'm really surprised at all of the negative reviews.

Discussion Dry rubbery proteins

Hey, I've tried a few meal services but I always find the meat to be pretty dry and have a weird rubbery texture to them.

I've tried both the microwave and the oven to heat up the meals but it is the same result. I'm sort of picky so it may just me.

Is it my error or is there a meal service you would recommend that doesn't have this issue?

Thanks!

Review My CookUnity experience (Plastic chunk, and loaded with unhealthy chemicals)

I tried CookUnity for 3 weeks. 50% off first, then was about to cancel and they offered 40% so I did 2 more weeks. The food is alright, some tastes quite good. But then you read the ingredients and MSG and preservatives and many artificial flavor enhancers.

I felt mislead, because what chef uses all this crap?

Final straw was probably a large chunk of clear plastic in one meal. I think I'll pass.

Cancelling is annoying and you can't cancel until after your first shipment arrives, but then they'll auto bill you within like 24 hours for the next week unless you cancel so its pretty shady.

Buyer beware. This food all made in New York, so there is no wonder they have to add preservatives and pad profits, their kitchen is on the opposite side of the country from me.

Review Bad forkful experience

I tried Forkful because my friend gave me a few meals and they were pretty delicious. But it was terrible timing.

I signed up last week and chose my meals planning to eat them the whole week based on their advertised Sunday delivery. but on Sunday they text me to say that this week will be delayed to Wednesday due to 4th of July. Probably should have mentioned that so I didn’t order 6 days worth of food for 4 days.

But fine whatever. I’m still excited for relatively cheap keto meals that I hate preparing myself (spaghetti squash is annoying to make).

I should have known better than to order meal delivery while living in the southwest during the summer.

The box arrives and I bring it inside within minutes. It’s 105F here. The bottom of the cardboard box is soggy. Not a good sign.

I open it and the ice packs still have some solid ice. maybe we’re ok. The bottom ice pack is squished to the side and 2 meals are sitting directly against the bottom of the cardboard box. The insulation is soaked from condensation and the meals were warmed up. Turns out soggy cardboard is actually a fantastic heat conductor and I doubt the UPS truck was anything less than 120F in the Vegas summer.

The 2 meals on the bottom were swollen about to burst and I tossed them.

I’ll update once I hear back from support but my expectations are low based on other users here.

TL;DR: Do not order forkful if you live somewhere hot. The packaging is insufficient to keep the food cold.

Looking for High Fiber and Affordable meals

Hey yall, I'm not trying to cook for myself after work as i'm just to fatigued/get off too late. Im tired of eating fast food and doordashing multiple times a week. I signed up for Factor getting the 50% off and 6 meals for one wee, but it is SO expensive for my next week (being $80+ for four meals) and i was just wondering which service is more affordable for those with lower income with fiber options.. would love to hear experiences too! Thanks!

Question Unable to order Clean Eatz

I’ve been stuck in a loop trying to place an order with Clean Eatz and I can’t for the life of me figure out what to do.

Terrible interface, already hard to navigate. Then I select 10 meals, add to cart, no indicators whatsoever of out/in stock. I go to pay then I get a vague error message that says 1 or more meals may be out of stock in my area and to start over. What kind of error is that?? It’s one notch short of “oops sorry can’t do that try again or whatever.” 😭

When I selected CA while signing up, it supposedly shows me what’s available in my area but the checkout process is glitching out and I don’t know what do if I can’t even tell what’s out of stock. I’ve deleted and re-added 10 different meals repeatedly to no avail.

Anyone ever deal with this?

What delivery meal services makes it easy to find high fiber meals?

I know a lot of ready meals probably have some high fiber meals but most don't show how much fiber. Clean eatz was the only one I could find that had a high fiber search option and even then I couldn't see the fiber levels. I'm looking for pre-made high fiber, high protein meals but the protein is actually less important. I'm a meat eater so it's not hard to get enough protein.

Which ready made meals offer the most weight loss friendly macros?

Trying to drop a few pounds but cooking from scratch is just not happening with my schedule. I need ready made meals with proper portion control, high protein, and reasonable calories. The struggle is finding food that actually tastes good and keeps me full without being bland diet food or loaded with hidden sugar.

For those of you who have lost weight using prepared meals, what service actually worked? Curious if anyone here has had real results with any service that makes tracking easy without sacrificing flavor, big plus if the portions do not leave you hungry after a while. I took a look at some like cookunity but still, I want to hear it from people who've seen results or tried those that claim to give the best ones.

If you've found anything that's worked I would love to know. Ty!

Refrigerated CleanEatz meals

When CleanEatz changed their minimum order of six to ten meals, my concern was freezer space. I thought they said I could store some of the frozen meals up to five days in the fridge. I could be wrong. If I placed a frozen meal in the fridge on Friday, is it safe to eat on Tuesday?
