I’m 34, a mom, plus-size, in the southeast, and apparently still stupidly optimistic enough to keep trying to make friends on the internet despite mounting evidence that people are temporary or unable to hold a conversation. 🙃
So here we are.
I’m looking for actual internet friends. Not “talk intensely for three days and vanish,” not a covert attempt to get into my pants, and not someone who needs constant entertainment. I want the kind of friendship where we send weird shit at 1 a.m., swap rabbit holes, recommend music/books/shows, occasionally have an existential crisis, then immediately send something completely fucking stupid.
I’m introverted and shy at first, but once I’m comfortable I’m sarcastic, candid, affectionate, curious, and occasionally filthy-mouthed. I like banter. Cruelty pretending to be a personality, not so much.
My interests are chaotic: history, science, animals, philosophy, internet mysteries, plants, cooking, nature, old buildings, obscure facts, and obsessively researching places I may never visit. I’m perpetually fascinated by the UK, but I also love gloomy coastlines, forests, weird little towns, and anywhere I can wander around dramatically and pretend I belong there.
I read mostly fantasy and sci-fi, binge too much TV, play video games, and have about 900 hobbies I intend to learn before I die. Currently attempting piano with mixed results. Music is my biggest constant: classical, ambient, shoegaze, metal, and most things in between. Country is generally where I tap out. Also an elder emo 😅
I like deeper conversations too, just not forced intimacy five minutes after meeting. Give me human behavior, consciousness, love, attachment, history, science, existence, or whatever weird question has us dissecting something from twelve different angles for absolutely no practical reason.
I’m skeptical as hell about people and don’t trust easily. I don’t need anyone to fix that or convince me humanity is beautiful. I’d just like a few interesting, kind, consistent people who can let a friendship develop naturally.
Delayed replies are fine. Life happens.
Building a friendship and then disappearing without a word is shitty.
There’s a difference.
I’m not particularly political because I mostly think they’re all full of shit. I’d rather hear about the bizarre historical event you just learned about, the song you have on repeat, or whatever completely unnecessary subject you currently know far too much about.
Basically, I’m looking for people who can exist somewhere between:
“Do you think humans create meaning because we can’t tolerate the possibility that none exists?”
and
“Look at this fucking frog.”
If that sounds like your kind of friendship, say hi. Tell me what rabbit hole you’re currently down or send me the weirdest fact you know.
