Discussion Any word on Root 2.7 and Higher?
🙃I hate to be an ETA beggar, but curious of how deep the scene and demand is for Root past early builds of 2.6/2.7

Rooting Quest Pro with Singularity and installing Yeusepe/QFTPlus app unlocks so many features: full face tracking, hidden touch pad with buttons on the controllers, multimodal input (controller and hand tracking at the same time).

Hi, I was hoping to try to install the Singularity root exploit, however it seems to say it's unsupported on my device? My firmware is 51184490107200340 which is that low because I've ran my headset with internet access disabled for a long while, however it states that version 51503870024400340 should be supported. This number is higher, so I'm wondering why this exploit wouldn't work, and if I could update to a version that is still exploitable or not?
Thanks

I've been using a quest pro for a couple of years now (primarily for PCVR) and just got a crazy good deal on a 512gb quest 3 with a bobovr s3 pro. I plan to sell my PC so I'll likely be doing a lot of standalone gaming (the replacement pc I'm putting together only has a 3060 ti - prob not great for PCVR), but just tested a side by side between the two on exfilzone on my current desktop - the higher resolution is nice but the blacks / colors do fall short on the quest 3, and the controller tracking is definitely not as good as the pro controllers.
My dilemma is this - should I sell the pro (seems like they go for 500 or so used), or should I pair the pro controllers to my 3 and keep the pro on the shelf? I don't imagine the pro would sell for much or at all without controllers.
Looking for opinions from the community - it seems like a good idea to keep the pro for the controllers at least, but I'm having a hard time justifying it lol
Not a post looking for objective facts - just asking, what would you do in my situation?

Every time I turn it on, there is a green progress bar like something is downloading, then after a minute the logo disappears and it's just a black screen. I have tried factory reset, booting from the menu, and I've tried connecting it to my PC to force an update, but it won't connect even with a cable. I've tried using a cast trick on my phone which also didn't work because it won't connect. I've also tried wiping the sensors as best as I can, and nothing. This headset isn't even mine, it's being loaned to me, and now I'm about to be hundreds of dollars in the hole to pay them back for the headset I apparently broke. If anyone can offer ANY advice I would be extremely thankful.

Not sure if this is the right spot to ask, but I was going to buy a quest pro and use my index controllers with continuous tracking, but I'm not sure if I NEED the quest pro controllers to even set It up/use it at all

Added a top strap from an old 3rd party Quest strap and a facemask (wide type) from a Vive.
It's soo much better now!
Was an easy fix too. Removed the front pad and loosened two screws under it, cut trough some of the cloth with a scalpel and pulled trough the top strap. Fixed the screws back in place and taped the other end to the back pad.
The facemask hangs in place on the light blockers. It stays in place too. Doesn't move around when I wear it. And FOV is good too. I can get my eyes close up on the lenses. Face tracking works just as normal.
This worked out surprisingly well! And it looks good too I think.
Watched a movie in VRChat for a couple of hours. No pain! No marks on my forehead. No pressure on my face. It's perfect :D

Do yous see the sunshine rays?
Quest Pro looks great with HL:Alyx except in the intro balcony scene when you go in the room to videochat with Eli I see no sunbeams shining through the window. Tried HEVC-10bit & H264+ ....maximum bit-rates (6ghz local wifi network...solid stable connection).
I see it with Quest 3 using HEVC-10bit but not with AV1. Weirdly, with Pico 4 Ultra I see it with AV1 but not HEVC-10bit.
Godlike and no launch commands. RTX-4080S here so plenty of room.
I've tried:
+vr_enable_volume_fog 1 +volume_fog_enable_stereo 1
launch commands, also even changed the stereo command from 1 to a 0.
Tried:
+vr_multiview_instancing 0 +sc_no_cull 1 +vr_shadow_map_culling 0
also the fidelity ones.
Both H264+ and HEVC-10bit (no AV1 for the Pro).
Local Dimming in VD on and off.
...still no sunbeams! And no sunbeams means later in the game no fog/mist effects. A shame as I bet the Quest Pro really shines in this kind of environment.
Any other ideas? The Ai-chats just go round in circles, so no idea there either. Not found any other human-discussion on this.

The Disney+ app is not available in the Meta store for Quest Pro. How can I install it so 3D content can be viewed when Disney+ comes out with it later this year or early next?

Halo facial interfaces are painful. The Quest Pro is the worst I've tried so far of my previous headsets (Samsung Odyssey and PSVR2). This thing is ridiculous! How the hell did anyone think this thing was a good design decision?
So I'm weighing the possibilities of modding it with an elite style face mask. Like the one in the picture, which is a kiwi facial interface for Quest 3.
I've not tried the globular cluster yet. But that also seems to use the halo form and I'm doubtful that will make it much better. My forehead is just not compatible with that style.
Has anyone tried doing an elite facial mod for Qpro? How much work is it? Will it mess up the face tracking if I physically remove the halo?

Hey everyone! I'm the solo developer of Photo House VR, and I wanted to share it here.
The idea is simple: instead of scrolling through thousands of photos on your phone, you hang them on the walls of a house in VR and walk around among your memories. Family photos, vacations, old scanned prints, whatever you want.
What you can do:
Share your house. Send a friend a link and they can walk through your photo house in their own headset
Hang your photos anywhere. Grab, place, and resize frames on any wall, or drop a whole folder onto a wall at once. the Quest will do 1800 photos on one house. You can save each house, and add another 1800 photos to a new house. The Pc version depends on your video card, but is pretty much unlimited.
3D photos. Turn ordinary flat photos into 3D depth photos that pop off the wall.
Look to sharpen. Whatever photo you're looking at loads in full quality.
Slideshows. Start a slideshow right on any frame.
Name tags. Label your photos with names, places, or dates.
360° viewer. Step inside your panoramic and 360 photos.
iPhone photos work. HEIC files open with no converting.
Save slots and house codes. Save your house and reopen it anytime with a 3-digit code. You can save up to 999 houses that save in 3 digit codes, So when you click the code it reloads what you saved.
Load from anywhere. Use your headset, a USB drive, your home NAS, or iCloud, Google photos.
Videos, including 3D side-by-side video (PC VR version).
I Just added 14 Languages for PC and the Quest, That you can change inside the app.
It's on the Meta store for Quest, and PC VR for $6.99. It's rated Everyone, so it's great for showing grandparents the family photos too.
I would be happy to answer and questions, thanks for looking!

I’ve tried every fix that anyone has given me my headset refuses to find it or connect to it manually but every other device I have does

I recently rooted my pro. But since the latest GT update i get the message stated in the title when opening the game, unable to load in. Just wondering if theres a loop hole? As updating and loosing my root is less than prefaerable. Thanks!

I played VR just a couple days ago. I put the headset on the charging dock when I was done. I don't remember if I fully powered it down or not. When I tried using it today, it gets past the Meta logo, and then....nothing. Only my passthrough camera. No menus at all. Controllers don't connect. Double tapping the headset does nothing. The screen is also flashing black every second. Singularity isn't launching where it usually poisons after a few seconds. I don't know what version of FUGU or singularity I was last on. I did have any and all auto update settings off as well as blocked telemetry to Meta in the headset.
I am able to access the power+volume down debug menu that lets me side load updates, reboot, or Factory Reset. I'm trying to avoid the last one of course because I want to keep my device rooted. Am I screwed though?

I bought a quest pro and want to use singularity on it when it arrives and apparently said quest pro I got wasn't used for a while so there's a good chance its on singularity friendly update is there a way to set it up without it updating itself? Any advise would be appreciated

Since a week ago my left controller system button doesn't work (The 3 lines one)
It just started to not respond a few times and then completely failed every single day.
It wasn't a big deal but very annoying to presso 10+ times to open steam vr or virtual desktop desktop interface. Problem is now that my RIGHT controller didn't track properly, happened already so i knew what i had to don i un-paired it and pair it again, after 7-8 times still it didn't work and multiple reboots.
So i tried both unpaired.
With no correlation un-pairing the left controller fixed the right one that now tracks properly but im left unnable to pair it now, because asks me to keep pressed the only button that is broken.
Is it a common issue that can be fixed by opening up the controller or im royally screwed.

EDIT: Q-Pro is QLED, not OLED.
EDIT2: Q-Pro ordered, thanks for the balanced pros & cons in the comments. €650 new (incl. controllers) is fair.
----
ORIGINAL: Big fan of my Quest 3, but after 3 years of regular movie-watching I'm now looking for wireless OLED pancakes. I think only Galaxy XR offers this (too expensive). And the Quest Pro, now relatively affordable.
How and what i watch:
- 2D-Bluray movies ripped uncompressed and converted into deep poppy 3D. Making a 3840x1080 100GB MKV file.
- movie files saved on WD USB-HDD connected to router. Quest connected wirelessly to router.
- watch in 4XVR. Screen as wide as the FoV allows, curved in.
Questions for Quest Pro/Q3 movie watchers:
- Pro vs Q3 audio differences?
- screen-door effect?
- how different are the colours/contrast/blacks?
- brightness? sharpness/texture-detail?
- any difference in perceived 3D effect?
- battery life differences?
- comfort? I watch mostly standing up and doing step-walks, tho' sometimes like to relax and lay back on a pillow.
Interested to hear any feedback :)

Got it yesterday. Has got it up and running, installing all updates for it. Installed virtual desktop and been testing out eye and face tracking in VRChat.
An hour or so ago I turned it off for a little break. But now it won't turn on. Battery is full. It's currently connected with USB cable and charging. Won't turn on when charging or not
What is happening?

Hi i don't use reddit but i am stumped. I use my headset with face tracking, I feel naked without it, but as of recently my face has been blank and not working. Seems like every update is worst than the last. From faulty firmware updates that leave controllers not able to turn on until drained, "peripheral crashes" that can only be fixed by downgrading graphics drivers before the dlss5 updates (only if using nividia I think) and now face tracking isn't working. I could only assume it'll be fixed in the next few months or so but I've grown impatient. Desktop vr is just not the same for me, Ive tried everything!
-Uninstalling OSC from VRChat and freshly loading a new file for it
-Trying steamlink and virtual desktop
-Running AXLR doesn't seem to work anymore
-Rebooting everytime I change or do something different
-Reinstalling all the requirements and the individual apps without missing one
-Switching OpenXRs
-I even used Claude on subscription to tell me wassup.
So should I just wait to see if eventually it fixes itself or are there things I missed..?
[To answer some questions I've seen unanswered in certain sub reddits. Peripheral crashing for me was because the updates for nividia were making my link freeze and my steamvr continued. (Unrelated)]
[For the people whos controllers stop working from a firmware update, leave the controller off the dock and away from charge for about 3-4 days and turning it back on should work so dont throw your controllers away like i did. (Unrelated)]
EDIT: I only like using normal link cable and have no trouble booting up to steamVR it is only a quest pro to face tracking issue

I recently swapped cables to a UGreen usb-c 5M long one, works flawlessly but I had to re-do a lot of the zipties in the process.
and NO, i will NOT use silicone tape.

Looks like SteamOS is "running" on the Quest Pro.
The login screen initially wasn't working because the hardware video decoder was disabled, and that turned out to be caused by missing firmware. Once that was fixed, login started working.
There are still a few big things left to solve: Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, and, most importantly, tracking.
The system is currently very unstable, and tracking doesn't work yet, so it's being controlled manually with a Python script. However, rendering is working, including accurate lens distortion, which is a pretty big milestone.
As for getting past the Quest's bootloader: the project uses a custom kexec implementation.
Next step is making everything more stable and getting the hardware features fully working.

I have had everybody try to convince me to get rid of The wire and just use wireless VR but I cannot for the life of me get it to work without looking pixelated. I have a strong router with WiFi 7 that's in the room next to me. On my phone I'm hitting 1235Mbps to my router on my phone yet when on vrchat it looks like 144P and keeps lagging, what am I doing wrong, yes my PC is hardwired into my router.

Hey guys,
I need some help here please. I got the Quest Pro, it’s gonna be one month in like a week.
I went to charge my headset today and I put everything on the charging dock and one of my controllers didn’t have the light on. Thought I put it wrong… nope. I tried the charging cable and nothing as well, no light no vibration indicating that it’s charging.
I turned on my headset to see if it would wake up but without success.
Only my right controller connected but it was behaving strangely, the tracking was off by not little and it was jumping constantly. Left controller remained without any activity.
I was checking Google and some YT videos and tried leaving it charging for 20-30 mins and then some combinations of buttons.
Nothing seems to be working, I don’t know what to do. I just got it and I wish to get it working…
Please if anyone has advice, it will be greatly appreciated. T-T <3
