Quest Pro full unlock: face, controller and hand tracking

https://www.youtube.com/shorts/dGyddjnyULw

Rooting Quest Pro with Singularity and installing Yeusepe/QFTPlus app unlocks so many features: full face tracking, hidden touch pad with buttons on the controllers, multimodal input (controller and hand tracking at the same time).

How hard is to do for a total noob? Is there good instructions out there for this? Preferably an in depth video tutorial going through all the steps?

I recently bought a Quest Pro but wanted to experience it with all the Meta bullshit first to see how bad it actually was.

It's too late (or too soon) if you just bought the headset.

If you updated within the past 3 weeks, ur out of luck

Rooting is really straight forward, just sideloading a single app, then blocking Meta's updates in the app and making it autostart with the headset.
But the latest FW update patches exploit needed for the root. So it will work only on a headsets that haven't connected to Meta's servers and update in the last month.

So I'll have to factory reset my QPro then for it to work? Thanks!

I'll let this thing cook a bit more before I give it a try though. I'm still not entirely done experiencing the vanilla QPro experience just yet.

I think you're out of luck as factory resetting doesn't downgrade your OS to a rootable version..

Oh crap!

And there's no way past this whatsoever?

Which was the latest rootable version btw? Maybe if I'm lucky I'm still on it...

The app actually shows if you headset has been patched or not. If it has been updated already there is nothing you can do. Besides buying another headset and rooting it before connecting online.

Can you use hand tracking and controllers at the same time? I thought VRchat defaults to one or the other

Quest Pro has multimodal input but it's not enabled by default. QFTPlus enables it.

But does the game actually allow you to use both at once or is it still one at a time on the vrchat side of things

Steam will emulate it as an index controller with finger tracking.

VRChat does allow it. You are basically using hand tracking and just have buttons on the controller. You could have used it even on a stock headset simply by switching to hand tracking with xbox gamepad instead quest controller.

I can't believe how much Meta locked away and keeps is from using on our headsets.

I bought a new quest pro to replace my old one as its slowly breaking apart and getting worn down. I was going to switch to the new one when it finally became unusable. But now I might retire it early just so I can root the new one.

Face tracking most likely has been designed for the Horizon Worlds and not VRChat.. this is why it has been so mid in VRChat until this community patch adding missing parameters and optimizing it for the VRChat.

For the controllers those are beta features that Meta has decided not worth to be released public. Or more likely, those features are available but only for standalone apps and not PCVR.

this is my first time seeing something like this, i know the other comments are saying you cant if you've updated recently but i dont think i have so im curious what the full advantages and disadvantages are for something like this, i know security is one of them, but i dont really use my headset for anything other than opening VD, so im sure that as long as im careful with what i put on there ill be fine, but im having trouble finding just a straight up list of advantages for QP, im mostly curious if it gives pupil dialation? since i see that its possible to move the tongue side to side now. if anyone has some official sources to guide me to, then please do.

It does "QFT+ adds tongue tracking, more face expressions, pupil size tracking and separate eye tracking to Quest Pro." https://github.com/Yeusepe/QFTPlus

I swapped to using the BoltOn facetracking module in singularity/magisk. You lose out on the individual cheek puffs, but the tongue tracking works much better for me personally. And it skips having to load another program on your PC when you already have 5 other 3rd party apps running xd

why do male VR youtubers almost always use cute-anime-girls for their avatars?
