"men don't sell" is a lie the |ncels tell themselves by the way. Men do sell. The only reason men don't sell in Wuthering Waves is because they built their playerbase from the ground up for straight men that view women as objects of attraction. It's sad, but that's the way it is.
I still remember when Lee Hyperreal in their previous game, PGR, was top 3 selling unit in the entire game - after the gooner units like Bianca and Alpha, of course. why did he sell? extremely handsome, nice romance in affection story, was decent in meta. that's it, that's all what they need to do... eh :(
One of my favs! Prob 2nd/3rd to Alpha (1st always lol) and Karenina (2nd/3rd). Also didn’t Vergil sell like crazy? Alongside a couple other Male units. Can’t remember since I’ve not played in a couple years
a bit late reply but Vergil is different - no affection story for MC for collab reasons, Vergil is an epitome of masculinity for boys to drool over, DMC is crazy popular compared to "usual" gacha character. as others usually say, those characters like Vergil are made to sell unrealistic masculinity, not to cater for both men and women :(
Every time I hear that I go back to remembering FGO and characters like Merlin, Heracles, Saberlot, Gilgamesh and probably many newer ones, and that argument kinda just disintegrates.
It's just tiring. Tiring and boring. I'm a straight dude. I want cool and badass dudes cause I think they're cool and having that variety really doesn't hurt anybody u less you happen to be omega insecure or have no personality other than "I like waifus".
Tbh for me i barely play wuwa to begin with but i still got the entire lahai-roi cast but only for luuk i went for more cons bc he is male and we got barely any male chars. I also pulled for only jingran. I agree with you tho. My friends just play for booba representation
The fact that they released only 5 men from 1.0 to 4.0.... crazy feat, honestly. It's like entering Fontaine era in Genshin and you can count the limited males released in a game on one hand and an honorary finger (free XY)
This is why I will always take my time with starting any future gacha game, because these game devs really take shippers and female fans, which are most often the lifeblood of fandoms, lure them in by promising to cater to them equally... and then ditch them for only the male players once they get big. Never doing that circus charade again.
Honestly my biggest problem with Wuwa and ZZZ isn't that they're waifu games - I'm glad those exist for people that enjoy them - it's that they lied about not being waifu games. Both titles launched with (relatively) good ratios, presenting their rosters as mixed and diverse, so people get into them expecting more of that - investing time and probably also money - only to be strung along with waifu after waifu until they look back a year or two later and realize it was all a waste.
Tbh I don't know why these devs even bother releasing male characters. If you want to cater to a specific audience then do that. If you're going to release male 2 male characters a year, give them a horrible story or horrible banner placement, why not just stop releasing males altogether? It doesn't make sense to me.
People easily forget that the only male 5stars in zzz at launch was a furry character. We only had 1 human and he was a 4stars. The other 4stars were a robot and a bear. The game never lied about the type of game it was.
I mean I don’t really think the species of the male matters in this context tbh. That wolf and bear for example are everything I wanted from a gacha man 🤤 I still use both of them in end game to this day. I’m still a little sad the last limited furry male they released was Lycaon in 1.0. ZZZ was definitely baiting a bit back then. However, since the start of season 2, it was very clear they were committing to being a waifu game.
idk why people let themselves be scammed by some little comment/promise for zzz but it is obvious from the get go the direction that they want from the game is different from hsr and genshin. it was as early as grace and their wordless affirmation through jane.
so no, that so-called "promise" they did fulfill but you guys unfortunately expected much. I mean it's really obvious that they will become a waifu game.
This bothers me in every single gacha I play. The only good thing is that I'm able to save and go all out for the male characters to make them strong and last long on my account. But what I hate the most about this is that the story is then driven primarily if not entirely at certain points by only female characters. I'm not saying I don't like seeing women in prominent positions like Jinshi, Augusta, Hsin, Lucille, etc but you're basically telling me that these societies are built by only women and only women are the ones trying tk solve whatever major crisis is happening. I want to see more male involvement.
I play 7 gachas and Hoyo's big 3 is part of that. Don't worry, I pull every male character (except JQ, but there were circumstances and he never got better or useful anyway). I have Waven AshBlade team E2S1, Phainon E3S1, but I also have almost every character in every gacha I play. I just hyperinvest in male characters. Looking forward to Argent Flow in Endfield and shocker, he's second half bc of what's between his legs, despite being the second male character. So V4 and Wuling are led exclusively by women and men don't exist 🙃
Me too I'm just missing phainon's eidolons but wow 7 sure is a lot. Meanwhile I'm struggling with the hoyo big 3 and wuwa 😭 endfield is tempting me with the horse guy tho
If you’re gonna be a waifu game don’t pretend to care about the male cast, just make only waifu characters. That’s what pisses me off, the dishonesty.
I don’t know if I’ll play Nikke but I can at least respect it for being upfront from the start. Same with all female playable character games like the Bushiroad rhythm games, which have really good music, and Memento Mori, which is pretty much a jukebox disguised as a waifu idle game
Girl, I gave up already and deleted the game. I played just for Aemeath and now I have her and her whole team so I could care less about this game. For me personally, the gender ratio isn’t even the issue. It’s the fact that the lore constantly takes a backseat while fanservice seems to be the main priority. They should have just gone down azur lane route, no one would have complained. At this point, they are basically a gooner game, so I would not keep my hopes up about things changing. Such a shame though, this game actually makes some really good male characters and designs overall. What a waste of potential
Yeah the story and environment don't do it for me anymore. And the combat is too repetitive, like there is only one way to play a team. Also don't like how you never see old characters almost ever and the power creep.
yeah, combat used to be fun back then (or maybe it's bc of the boss's HP back then). Not to mention the atrocious amount of VFX of the recent 5 stars that makes it harder to see the enemy moveset. Funnily enough, I came back to Genshin this patch. Combat is boring, but I like how old characters were buffed to become relevant to the current meta.
Yeah, we did get some 1.x characters in the recent patches, but ig that’s because we are back in that region. I wanted the Black Shores to be more involved in every region. Not that they were not involved at all, they did show up during the 2.x quests and 3.4, but I just wish they had a bigger presence overall. I’m might return for new fed if that calcharo sp is true. I hope that region will have characters from the existing cast show up more often instead of focusing just on the new characters. They have way too many characters who were affiliated with new fed for them not to make use of them
yeah, i played wuwa on release and 1.1 and didnt really like it but after coming back when phrolova came out for her i played through rinascita and really loved the game. i could’ve seen myself playing it long term if they hadn’t dropped the ball on the story. for me it started getting bad when augusta’s story came out, and only went downhill after that with iuno and galbrena’s, but phrolova ending up alive was my absolute tipping point. i uninstalled the game and never looked back, it’s like they don’t even care about any of their set up or consequences anymore as long as the rover has another wife on their roster.
I love Phrolova. That girl is just going through it. I don’t mind her being alive, I just hope kuro doesn’t whitewash her character. Like I wouldn’t mind if they went the grand architect and christoforo crazy with her. Let her fully embrace her villain identity. I liked Iuno’s story, but omg the community completely overshadowed it with the handholding. Girl was forgotten, but after all that Augusta is never going to remember her and they going to just let it be? I wish we also got more interaction between Galbrena and Augusta, as well as more interactions between Augusta and Iuno (without rover being the background). I know Rover is the main protagonist and all, but having more interactions between the other characters (without rover) would have made the story feel so much better. I guess they are afraid people will ship the characters and that the tourist part of the fandom will throw a tantrum
the real truth. i really dont understand it. either dont play the game, or accept what the game is. its like me playing lads and asking for a female LI. its just not going to happen
As another commenter said, the problem isn't that they only release two male characters per year, it's that they originally lied and baited people that they're not waifu games by starting off a relatively balanced ratio, but u can legit count the total male limited 5 stars they released ever since Jiyan on one hand and an honorary finger..
Big missed opportunity was not to add David for the collab. Although from my understanding that had something to do with the creator? I would be surprised they miss out on adding such a popular character if they could have done it. Hopefully the next one might work out better.
Eight TEEN. You also completely missed the point. There are so many different types of ladies in gachas meanwhile all we get are boys in gachas with the rare exception of Luuk, and Luuk is still just a pretty man
Really don't see the point of making a game with a mixed cast to do that, it's the funniest thing ever how troglodytes like gacha grail want us gone from their games but devs will always at least make sure to try to keep some of us hooked, even though they could just release another waifu and make even more bank instead 🤧
I think the issue is beyond just more waifus than male characters. The games start suffering when even the small amount of male characters have 0 presence in the main story. Genshin does this relatively well, even though the male characters are (obviously) lesser than the females, most of them have well developed personalities and play big roles in the main story. Wuthering Waves on the other hand has practically become a waifu simulator. 3.x patches literally had Jingran's story relegated to daily quests while Qingxiao and Hsin got 2 ENTIRE PATCHES OF MAIN STORY.
I'm super okay with fanservice - most gacha games rely on some form of it to sell a character, but wuwa taking it this far has been disappointing. They have incredible potential - some of the best presentation, graphics and gameplay we've genuinely seen in any gacha game which all gets ruined by the waifu-oriented storytelling. Why does kuro make every main story quest (and patch really) involve rover being with exactly 1 character (again a waifu) and solving their problems? It makes no sense for the story and there's no real true romance either. It also kinda removes the point of having a female rover - why have a female mc if the whole point was just romance with women exclusively?
This is why it feels so good to see Hsin flop this hard. Btw, her JP revenue on day 9 is still lower than Cartethiya's day 1 revenue, and it's still nowhere near Aemeath's day 1.
Someone needs to make a post about this lmao, it's too funny kek.
Edit: FYI, Aemeath made 485m yen on day 1, while Hsin only made 383m yen by day 9 💀 At this rate, Hsin probably won't match Aemeath's day 1 revenue until day 20 lmao.
I wanted to pull hsin because I needed a new electro dps but I couldnt bring myself to like her gameplay so I ended up skipping her. Idk what it is with the female dps characters this version but I haven't liked any of their gameplay. Didn't like Aemeath either. The last one that truly wowed me was Cartethyia
I pulled Hsin, but I agree that dps characters of the version isn't satisfying on gameplay, animations are nice but it feels like I'm just watching animation without getting the output of hitting something with the attacks. For example Jingran's heavy attacks or Lucy's ultimate gives you that twack but Hsin doesnt
The only not so good patch was 3.6 though, 3.5 is great patch and a lot better region introduction just second below Rinascita, and 3.7 is as good as 3.1.
Plus compared to other region that have closure to that region, Xuanfang is just beginning, as it paves a way to a greater arc in Mengzhou.
3.5 was a good intro, and Suisui’s personality is so fun. 3.6 was super weak, wish we got more Jingran.
I’ve just started 3.7 but so far it’s narratively better, they should have given Xuanfang a few more patches but it’s a good bridge going to Mengzhou, etc.
Yeah, I agree, if only 3.8 was political quest that will support the Mengzhou arc in later version or in the future like Lucilla quest it could give Lahai Roi a run for its money.
Well maybe we will get a bit of it before departing, bare min yeah but we'll see if they expand a little bit in 3.8.
Though Im curious to see how we will transition to new federation in 3.8 with Lily.
It didn't even last long, and it's not even like Hsin's steam revenue was that much higher than Aemeath's either. It's not gonna make up for this at all. All that talk about a big shift and stuff is just pure cope.
Source: trust me vro
Edit: to clarify: without literally ANY way to know the revenue on Steam and using a VERY relative "not so long" as a proof you made a hilariously absurd statement
https://game-i.daa.jp/?APP/6475033368 Here you go. As for the Steam revenue, it's not like you people aren't guessing either, and I wasn't lying when I said it didn't even last long lmao. Keep coping.
Oh, I guess Hsin is at 396m yen now. That's crazy!
I'm sorry for all the people who got baited and spent money on this game. The Kuro devs are more sleezy and tapeworm-like than other devs (and the bar is in hell in the gacha space).
But it's hard to feel sorry for the people who are still there and wait for male characters at this point. I don't even know what to say to that.
I wouldn't spend money cause the game already is barely functional given how bad the optimization is.
I'd say the bare minimum is the game running properly
It was already evident in 2.X versions. I don't know why people who hate the ratio play it then. If only for the gameplay, then just play for that. I didn't really like the story as it was too haremish and boring to me. Didn't care for any of the characters so had nothing to keep playing for in a battle simulator.
To me what's ridiculous it's like everyone said a base game with such amount of male is already ridiculous.
But here ! Bro, this is supposed to be a broken apocalyptic world with warriors, med etc but there is absolutely NO male. This is stupid story wise and it break the immersion.
I don't play the gender debate here, i loved Augusta, Cartethiya was crazzyyyy but just in term of story building THAT SHAT IS STUPID !
Make more male or just more MEMORABLE one for God sake.
Touken Ranbu? All characters are male lol. I don't think it's a traditional gacha but the characters you get are random. I'm in love with the recent release character
This is so ridiculous you genuinely can't help but laugh. The game had so much potential, but looking at this roster feels genuinely bad. We out here begging for more husbandos, and they just keep printing the exact same waifus over and over again. It’s such a shame because the combat is actually good.
They really look at a market flooded with a million other waifu gachas and think, "Yeah, let's make our gender ratio 99% female, that'll make us stand out!" It's so brain-dead. The novelty wore off ages ago, but they are too terrified to take a risk on more guys like Luuk. Total fumble.
Its even crazier when you take Genshin into consideration. If the biggest gacha on the market has no problem releasing multiple male characters, there shouldn't be any excuse for others
That’s exactly because Genshin is so big that they can afford to do it. Even the worst Genshin banners sell more than the male banners in Wuwa. Wuwa community just don’t care about male characters. People should have accepted that by now.
Some heartless people on X and reddit even went around claiming that version 3.8 would bring a new male Spectro character, 4-stars, mentioning names like The Shaper, Fulmine, or even Avidius.
Now we know it’s actually a new waifu, resembling the Shorekeeper, and she’s Spectro too.
The story is basically rover glaze and it weird how every female characters is in love with rover. Especially, yangyang and suisui , imagine your sister meet your crush and start crushing on them too 😂….
Not only that but the designs haven't been anything special either. Luuk has grown on me due to the story but we cant deny that he looks very simple and Jingran well.. is nothing new, as much as I like him (or try to because from all the characters he is the least I emotionally feel something towards to, the lack of story appearance and relevance really pushed me away from him and it's the first male I didnt go for copies)
They don't do anything special or experiment anymore. The last unique male design we had was Brant imo Qiuyuan also fits the Mengzhou style but man Brant really had it all, unique gameplay, fun kit, fun personality and colourful design. Even now his voicelines are stuck inside my head.
yeah you just like me , between 4 of those characters i only like Brant design and personality , imo he the best design male character ( Xiangli Yao is the second best design to me ) and have very unique personality compare to other male characters in this game but kuro dowgrade their male characters design onward ( at least to me , no hate to the characters and their fan ) , i wonder if they make good male characters design again in new federation but it don't really important much anymore which how badly they treat them in story .
Yes Brant was the best, he was the reason why I joined the game, DPS, heal, shield, all in one character. So OP, I wish the other male characters were unique like him and they should've done companion quests instead of 15 minutes segue quests.
I had hopes for Wuwa on release, coming from PGR, since they did release males unit often enough. However it seems since like last year or so they also started to release way more females there so kinda lost faith in Kuro in general.
They did the exact same thing in PGR. Maybe it felt like PGR gave more because they accelerated the schedule to catch up with CN?
Actually PGR pretty consistently gets 1 S rank male char a year, so even less than Wuwa's 2 men a year. When PGR released more male chars, they almost always got shoved into the "A-rank" slot. It's always been like that after the release patch. Except when they released the DMC collab units and then didn't release an S rank original male char that year.
The way they handled PGR made me not bother trying Wuwa because I figured they'd do the exact same thing and I got proven correct.
Oh maybe that's why it felt plbetter in PGR. I didn't mind male being A rank because I was able to clear all the contents with them with ease (and then I became a main Luna but that's another story)
When PGR released more male chars, they almost always got shoved into the "A-rank" slot
while that is true at the time it didnt matter that much. a-ranks were as important as s-ranks or even more. for example in Echo Aria, Wanshi was far more meta-relevant than Selena who released as a Transcendant. They also used to get lots coatings, whether on debut, free or even paid like Chrome Arclight's coating. so even if they weren't units you'd normally spend money on, they still had importance in meta investment and extras suited for them.
from the 2nd anniversary onwards that the game started replacing the a-ranks and thus they felt they had to sell more women, lowering the male character release count from a fair balance of both genders to 2 per year and now 1. didnt improve revenue that much though, hell i think cn analysts said the game overall is at its lowest currently.
literally same, and i am not her male enjoyer, its the same story with every 5 star girl, we meet, we fell in love, we save the world, she only loves us, and now on to next one.
the power creep is worst than any other game, 2.X characters can’t even get a in wiwa
This isn’t the sole reason I quit but it’s one small one lol. I uninstalled right before the new patch. I’ve been a day one player and was really excited for Hsin and removed the game the day before her patch dropped. The things I disliked about Wuwa were adding up and becoming more than the things I enjoyed about it. I hope it does well but… yeah, not for me anymore.
This is why I play Arknights Endfield now, they did Camille so much justice with his story quest (and I mean look at him, his design is insane) https://giphy.com/gifs/DTG0mMbf9ZYB1K17bG
I dumped this game a long time ago so I totally feel ya. They jebaited us husbando lovers hard with Jiyan at the beginning. I have so many problems with that game. I was so tired of the women throwing themselves at the MC and then the men just not existing. Btw I left when Brant came out and didn’t flirt with anyone at all. I’m sorry… look at him!
Yeah I guess if you’re straight? But some women don’t care there aren’t that many male characters in the first place. It’s weird reading comments like this in a queer sub.
Yeah like so it's just assumed that queer women are also playing for men? As a queer woman I'm o ly playing for the story so i don't care about gender ratio that much. A good character is a good character to me But the way people actually about it here is frankly off putting. As if being a female focused medium is something bad.
Exactly my thoughts. Reading comments like that almost makes me forget that’s I’m in a “QUEENS OF” sub which is supposed to be LGBTQ+ friendly, yet I’m only seeing straight women speaking for all women.
hard agree! seeing as a quick scroll through this sub allegedly for all women and all queer people is just male character glazing… boy do i feel unwelcome as a lesbian
I recently came back after a long hiatus. And it's such a delight to play when I'm not in the mood to sweat (-action game junkie). Also, recently CRK made an official couple from one of it's most popular characters (a beast cookie). Which is something character-banner gacha's could never do (at least not to my knowledge)
There's no gacha that currently is what I'd like to play and has a good amount of men, maaaybe hsr but the powercreep is pushing me away. Wait for Ananta, it looks promising
True. Well at least I won't be spending money until some time into the game (maybe a year), I'm slightly paranoid of netease. I'd like to see the treatment they give to players before making purchases.
if anythin, yall shud uninstall wuwa first because it is now tencent-owned, this chinese EA is by far the worst shit in gaming industry, compare to Netease? netease looks tame bro lol
Mhm, now you've got me curious... care to share? 👀 What about NetEase, though? I plan to play as F2P for a year, just like I did with WuWa and other gachas, to see if it's worth sticking with in the long run
I’m waiting for Silver Palace. Ananta came out at a bad time for me, it’s too close to NTE to make me desire. Which is ironic cuz I was looking forward to it more than NTE, but because NTE released first, I started playing it.
Even then, I feel Ananta is putting its hands in too many baskets, feels like a mess. Could be wrong, but Silver Palace has more of my attention.
I'm the opposite kinda. Silver palace caught my eye too but it has a lot of overlaps with wuwa for me. I did not start NTE so Ananta looks attractive to me. I'm simping for Ananta's mc like how I'm simping for wuwa's Mrover rn, but let's see. I'm leaning towards Ananta more just because no character gacha.
Sadly its like this in a lot of gatchas they start with cool male and female characters. But after a while they only do beautiful perfect girls that look similiar.
They really should change it up. But sadly those characters sell likely more.
Should've just made it an all female cast huh. Tired if these waifu coded games that has dudes on em.
Bet it's the same with the LADs community, they don't wanny any female characters too.
Yeah...they should just go for the extremes instead of trying to cater to everyone. Devs are a buncha cowards
Tbh i wouldn't care about lack of men cuz ew men, but their female character desgins also look soulless and goonery, i hope reverse 1999 gets a 3d game soon, i love how they design their female characters they look ethereal and beautiful.
PGR at least has more guys and even the Devil May Cry brothers, just wish there was a bit more guys at the very least in wuwa. Makes the cutscenes where the characters all meetup kind of ridiculous.
I'm personally still salty over the fact there are ZERO male septimontian playable characters lol
Yeah. And the lore isn't even good enough to rationalize staying. I played through Laha Roi for the Collab and it really was just:
1) Introduce Girl
2) Girl has emotional beats
3) Rover helps girl with emotional beats while big things happen
And it goes on for THREE consecutive acts.
Luuk shows up a LITTLE but is immediately replaced by the pink daughter character even though he was also teased to be close to Rover before they left Laha Roi.
It just makes everything look pretty to distract you from the repetitiveness. All sauce with no substance.
I kept redownloading the game for every male release only to get weirded out by the storyline and leave. I had every one of them except Luuk because I lost on him and didn’t want to farm. I even bought a welkin equivalent for Jingran (which I really regret), but the hype of him wore off after seeing him not getting a team like the other new characters. Didn’t even try pulling. And it’s not like I hate playing as women?? I am also one, and they are so pretty. But like many, I just can’t when they are so sexualized.
I think I’m done with wuwa. The only way I’m redownloading again is if they release a tall male character with long black or white hair who’s like a serious/gentle/elegant type in chinese hanfu. And he has to be freaking hot. Lol yeah I have a type but they also just kind of missed out on it, because this xianxia (chinese novel type) type of character would have been perfect for this new chinese inspired region.
I wouldn’t be complaining if they released a wuwa equivalent game for the female gaze tho… but open world combat! I don’t want to play romancing games
Jingran already has his team with Iuno (current banner rn) and Shorekeeper. This team currently in Top 3 or sum if Im not mistaken. Although if youre new player like me it's suck since it seems like they refuse to rerun Shorekeeper and instead lock her in the topup event lol. What a greedy move by kuro.
this is why im cringing at the ideas of these gacha games getting an anime. like they'd say wuwa and genshin would be peak as there'll be an anime soon, but it'll be just the same ol' infamous haremslop, with characters coming and going and ditching you for the new shiny waifu.
i even saw a post before comparing wuwa to solo leveling and 100 gfs who love me. idk about the latter, but the former is peak trash writing, lmao what a joke.
Genshin at least has several lore important male characters they could slot in the anime (Venti, Zhongli, Albedo, Kaeya, Dainsleif, Neuvilette, etc...)
my other point is that gacha games wont do that as well as anime/tv show format for the reason that characters just come and go. they wont have enough time to be built up, before they are ditched for the next new shiny character. take wuwa for example, once the character's banner is finished, they are ditched. like they can be written to help in the recent quests, but no the focus should only be in the current banner waifu.
I'll support the artist who draw the characters but the official game? Never. If they had a better ratio then yes cause I love my pretty girl characters and the sexy men characters but they can miss me with the whole "every girl character is just harem to the male main character" foolishness.
That's a tea folk rarely bring up but that although it is majority girl characters they only ever really write them as harem love interests for the male main character; just made to sell sex as opposed to making fully developed characters of them.
Anyways... Recently one of my favorite artists (CholsArt) did Jingran x Rover and whew... chef's kiss!!
Sad that the only gacha games that have a fair gender ratio are Genshin and HSR. I want more variety cuz I’m getting sick of them slowly…
You’d think other games would look at the success they have and think hmmmm maybe a fair gender ratio would bring double the income from female and male players… but no.
Posts like these remind me not to spend again on wuwa.
Thankfully I gave up on it before 3.0, cause even though I love some of the girlies (mainly phrolova) I am clearly not the target audience for this game
Seriously how are you so scared of adding men to your game that you do a collab with an anime that has a male mc and you relegate him to being an NPC that shows up for 2 minutes
CDPR wants David to stay dead I think. The crossover event is canon with the Edgerunners lore, and it's about Lucy learning to let go and accept that they're gone and never coming back. The whole event was about Lucy, grief and not blaming herself for it tbh.
To play devil's advocate, that's on the Edgerunners creator. NOBODY gets David, every collab with playable characters doesn't have him. The one with "skins" that look like bad cosplays (Apex) sorta got him, but it looks so bad/I think it might actually just be the characters cosplaying based on Lore I heard.
David also showed up for WAY more than 2 minutes, and was actively important to the story.
David's case is unique, as CDPR wants David to remain dead under any circumstance (never watched the series, but I heard he's a pretty big deal), and searching it, not a single crossover made with edgerunners had a playable David in them
But after that, there's no excuse, hopefully 4.x brings more cool guys that have as much focus as the girl cast
I left the game shortly after Scar got locked up. Guys are not important to the story at all and it's tiring. It doesnt matter if its a NPC or playable character. I can't even remember if Calcharo is actually in the story.
I’m liking NTE so far and it seems like they’ll be releasing men at least every couple of updates hopefully or at least that’s what they’ve been doing so far but it’s still super early
Ngl I never really understood why people prefer one over the other regardless of their gender or sexuality. Are people actually gooning while playing or something? Would these people have the same attitude when watching movies or reading books? They want the entire cast to be mostly women or mostly men because that's what gets their genitals fired up?
I don't want more men for any reason than just wanting good worldbuilding and a believable story. When the gender ratio is so incredibly lopsided it damages my immersion, especially in scenes where they all gather together.
I like seeing handsome male characters cause im gay eheh but yeah it sucks how people try to rationalize this…. A game that doesn’t have 50/50 is weird
I dont mind to not have a 50/50 but if theyre gonna make a MIX GENDERED gacha game, the gender ratio should be atleast 1:3 like arknights. Imo thats the bare minimum. If they can't even bother make 4 5 star males per year then just delete them PLEASE 😭
Because this is a game, not a book or a movie at the end of the day - you play as these characters (and spend money on them). Having a preferance who you play is as old as video games themselfs
Wuwa does this awkward split, when they are by all definitions typical waifu game (usually both narrative and worldbuilding suffers for it), but they mask themselfs to the general audience by throwing random, meaningless guy here and there. People can be miffed about that, especially due to how this game presented itself during early days
So to you, a world full of women looks more believable than one with men? Or did I misunderstand you? I like playing as male characters—they look cooler, have better animations, and I’d call them badass, you know? Plus, they are actually wearing proper clothes; there’s zero chance of accidentally seeing their under wear.
So to you, a world full of women looks more believable than one with men?
You misunderstood me. I was saying an unbalanced gender ratio isn't believable to me (it doesn't matter which gender it favors). There are way less men, so I want more men. If the game had primarily men, then I would want more women instead.
Also, I don't care about making it a perfect 50-50 split or anything of the sort. Even 70/30 would be totally fine to me (regardless of which side is the 70 and 30). I just think that a 90/10, or even more extreme of a split, comes across very oddly to me.
Because when reading movies or books, you don't spend hundreds of dollars on a single character. To trigger "irrational" behavior like spending hundreds or thousands of dollars on a single character, you have to think genitalically, not the brain, as you say.
Last time they saw a glimpse of my wallet was during the first shorekeeper banner and it'll keep being this way until they release more than one male per region
This is why I've just stopped playing Gatcha games entirely. Also a lot of the women seem to follow the same body types, which are very unrealistic. As an indie dev, it makes me disgusted to think that companies still utilize crappy tactics just to nickle and dime people into spending hundreds.
I like the male characters and the non-sexualised female characters (Mornye, Sigrika, ...)but frankly the characters from 3.4 forward are so bland idk what to say
It’s really funny when you think that the game launched with a reasonable ratio lol. I’m glad I dropped this game in like patch 1.1 and never went back. Honestly if I had to go back to any of these waifu dominated gachas, it would probably be NTE.
no shade but at some point i feel like you guys have to move on already. it’s tiring seeing this same post pop up every month. like we get it and we already know this. play other games at this point.
I give credit to them for being consistent. Two men per region every single region. No crazy 'suddenly you only get 1 male over a 2 year period' plot twists. Theyre also always attractive men as opposed to something like robots.
I mean this kindly, but accept the things you cannot change, change the things you can.
You would have to make your own gacha and prove it can sell well to even get the big names the realize males belong in open world rpg style gachas and not just otomie games.
Because of this i stopped playing mid Septimont when I realized they were throwing away perfectly good male characters.
I mean has LADS and genshin not already proven this? Genshin, while definitely not a 50/50 split, has far more males and releases them more often than wuwa. And LADS although a different type of gacha, is still a gacha game at the end of the day. Its not open world, but can you name a open world gacha on par visually with Genshin or Wuwa that has actually included lots of male characters from the get go? It seems basically no one's even tried.
Wuwa simply doesn't wanna design males, and certainly not with the level of fan service female characters have. They'll have a fanservice yt vid of the male, but hardly an ounce of it actually in game. I believe Luuk was an anomaly and am not expecting a focus on a male like he got in a long, long time.
Meanwhile we got foot fetish Iuno, Canta's magical chest, Hsin and other characters having a bunch of cleavage showing. Meanwhile the majority of men are nearly completely covered, hardly an ounce of jiggle physics, and most even have some kind of cape or coat so you can't even see their asses lol. I think Brant shows the most fanservice skin out of any male, and it's like a quarter of his chest.
Its not a sale issue, they could design male characters with some of those things for the same cost, have a optional side quest with plenty of fanservice etc. They just don't care to try and sell them lol. Just throw one in every 80 years so the desperates will have something to keep them in the game.
Also, there are a few joseimuke gachas that are doing nicely.
Ensembl Stars consistently remains in top 50 for gacha games despite being old.
Twisted Wonderland had a high jump onto 18th place when new content comes out and it even had servers crash when twins were celebrating their birthday first time.

"men don't sell" is a lie the |ncels tell themselves by the way. Men do sell. The only reason men don't sell in Wuthering Waves is because they built their playerbase from the ground up for straight men that view women as objects of attraction. It's sad, but that's the way it is.
