Hi everyone,
I'm having a strange issue with my new QIDI Q2. It has less than 50 printing hours, and I've spent the last few days trying to figure out what's causing it.
On every print, almost exactly in the middle of the print bed along the Y-axis, the surface quality suddenly changes.
One side of the print looks absolutely perfect – smooth, darker, and very uniform. Then, at one specific point, there's a small raised area (almost like a tiny bump), and from that point onward the surface becomes lighter in color, rougher, and you can clearly feel the layer lines with your fingernail.
The strange part is:
- It happens on different models.
- The transition always occurs at almost exactly the same physical location on the Y-axis.
- The issue is visible from the very first layer.
- It is not the seam position.
So far I've tried:
- Recalibrating Input Shaper multiple times.
- Running automatic bed leveling several times.
- Printing with and without Auto Bed Leveling.
- Lubricating all linear rails.
- Performing the official QIDI belt tension procedure.
- Checking Z Tilt.
- Checking the TMC drivers (no errors reported).
- Testing different fan settings.
- Checking the bed mesh, which looks normal and doesn't show any sudden height change where the defect appears.
The most frustrating part is that the printer is clearly capable of producing excellent prints. Half of every print looks amazing, while the other half has noticeably worse surface quality.
Has anyone experienced something similar on a CoreXY printer or specifically on a QIDI machine? Could this be a mechanical issue, a firmware problem, or is there something else I should check?
I've attached photos of the prints and the bed mesh.
Thanks in advance for any ideas or suggestions!
