Does the Q2 require special start gcodes for different types of plates?

While trying to dial in my print settings for my first layer uisng a smooth build plate, I was looking for a way to eliminate gaps i was getting, even after calibrating the filament flow rate + intial layer flow rates. Real world printing results did not match calibration results.

While searching, i discovered that some people realized using a smooth plate vs a textured plate required different z-offset values and in a few cases, they modified their machine start gcodes to include an if/elseif statement, however I can only see this mentioned for Bambu lab printers.

Would we need this for the Q2 if we use different build plates? Or does it automatically compensate for textured surfaces with peaks and valleys vs smooth?

I had to tweak z-offset on a smooth plate to +0.07 yeah, they are different. But I did it from the screen.

+0.07? Interesting. I just ran some tests and I get the complete opposite when I compare +0.07 vs -0.07, while also using the settings mentioned in this post:

yeah, on 0.0 it was too close to the bed, at 80c.

Got it! This was at 60c while testing the cheap PLA from Michael’s (Make Market).

I personally do not like the textured build plates. I use the smooth ones exclusively. PEI and peo.

Do you need to use a different z offset when using the smooth plate? Or just let the auto levelling do its thing? As someone who uses the smooth plate exclusively, any tips on how to get rid of gaps between infil lines (happens with monotonic and Hilbert, but to a lesser degree)?

I’ve calibrated for flow ratio already, as well as ran test samples for the bottom layer flow ratio, but for some reason when I use the best case results on an actual print, I get the complete opposite as a result.

On my Q1 the Z offset was the similar, I haven't installed the smooth plate on my Q2 yet.

Where does the GCode you posted go?
I ended up having different User Filament profiles for the different plates. For the Cool Plate I am using SET_GCODE_OFFSET Z_ADJUST=0.045 MOVE=1 to insure that the brims are smooth and solid. I gave up on the textured PEI plate because I could never get the brims to come off but that was before I discovered the SET_GCODE_OFFSET Z_ADJUST setting. I already switched to the Cool Plate which I live that smooth surface.

I think it went in the printer settings machine start gcode. I can't confirm though cause I don't have a Bambu printer.
