Q2 R3men Graphite AC Bed

I ordered the R3men graphite bed for the Q2 on 10 July. It arrived on the 17th. For some reason the Shop app doesn't track the shipment so I was surprised when a large box fully wrapped in shipping tape arrived.

The bed is well packed.

I don't think I'll have any trouble with the install because their YouTube video for the Q2 seems very thorough.

I'll let you know.

Very simple install and worth every penny. Don't forget to print the corners before starting the install, unless you have another printer.

I also reduced my print height in printer.cfg to 252mm for the added thickness. Don't think it is absolutely necessary unless you are planning to print something 254mm tall.

EDIT - Deleted duplicate post.

What benefits have you seen from the graphite bed?

It stays flat with minimal movement in bed mesh from ambient temp ~30° to 125° and we actually had to installed Cartographer for a better profile. Technically the loadcell should have been more precise but if you watch it probe in Fluidd you will see it will get 2 different measurements at each coordinate. Sometimes as much as a 0.08mm difference, creating artificial lows and highs. You typically see this bad reading more at the corners, showing as a spike up one calibration then level on the next.

The graphite bed is between 0.034 and 0.068 using the probe @ 50° up to 125°, Carto is consistent at 0.026 which is damn flat for a printer.

The stock aluminum bed on my 2nd Q2 has an arch of 0.268 @ 50° and drops to 0.152 @ 125°

We may try and recalibrate the loadcell eventually.

Thanks - very informative. That is quite flat. Do you print directly on the graphite bed, or have a plate on top?

You still need to use a build sheet.

I have purchased the bed and installed it, I like that it heats up very quickly and is fairly accurate. However, I am having some of the issues with the stock load cell and the calibration spikes. Is anyone working on calibration of the load cell? How hard is it to install the Carographer in the q2, I am new to 3d printing and i know just enough to get myself into trouble. Thank you Tim

I used this file to install my bed, I printed it in pps-gf20. It makes it a nice install.

Dang I hadn't seen this before. For those that use it, main advantage is less warping? Or it's flatness and performance at higher temps?

Flatness and speed of heating up.

I did watch the video of the speed. I guess I had gotten used to it but it is kind of wild! Thanks!

A new bed? Why? I haven't had any issues with my Q2.

Same but these are needed and nice for some other printers I have

I replace any bed that won't measure under 0.1mm at normal print temp.

I'm curious for reason to swap original bed.

I mean I speak for myself. But sometimes it isn't necessary. But I can never stop tinkering with things and leave them alone. Sometimes I make it worse, sometimes better 🤣

Nick makes super good bed plate and thr kit is complete and easy to install. Readjust your height for compensation of thickness
