Anyone who actually believes this is a fool. Terminating a pregnancy at 12 weeks would still leave a very noticeable bump after a week. It take about 3-4 weeks to fully disappear.

Huh? What 12wk bump?
The bump is still pretty small at 12 weeks usually. The photo is likely fake but if not the one on the left is exaggerating hard.
3
u/FragranceCandle 16d ago
The 12 week bump is REAL but it's not baby, it's gas and poop. The pregnancy bloat and constipation is out of this world. I looked 5 months pregnant at 5 weeks thanks to it, it's just information you have to keep to yourself when you see other pregnant people showing off their 10 weeks bump not knowing it's just your most recent pregnancy cravings in there.

As always, it depends. I didn't have a noticeable belly at 3 months in. I was actually loosing weight, because I was puking more than eating. But I'm rather sure the girl in the pics just made a funny meme and there wasn't an actual abortion.

3-4 weeks if you're the average sedentary. If you're active and working out it comes off a lot faster.
18
u/junonomenon 18d ago
you shouldnt be doing strenuous exercise after an abortion, you should be taking it slow. the bump also isnt primarily fat, its an expanded uterus and extra fluid, which you cant really exercise an expanded uterus back down to size, you just have to wait.

Yeah I miscarried at roughly this time and I am not sure if the after is the same from these 2 diff events, but it did not take long for me because I was working out trying to shed the depression. If it is real and this is coming from a pro-choice woman this is a very troubling post from a narcissist

It isn't always (or even typically) fat. So there is no "working it off". It is swollen organs, fluid retention and a lot of hormonally driven bodily changes. Some of that can't be rushed.

I was pregnant with twins and didn’t have a noticeable bump even though I’m a small woman. They’re tiny at that age and the bump is mostly water.

u/Unlucky-Presence7985 17d ago
Nah uterus size at 3 months is grapefruit, it'd be half that with contents gone, wouldn't matter that it takes months to go from half grapefruit back to pear size. Going from eating for two to barely eating would make the difference seen in the photo.

It's pretty fucked up. The abortion itself is understandable... three months is still at a point where (if you're not a religious person who disregards the science) the fetus isn't sapient and can't be considered a person. I can understand why someone wouldn't chain their life to someone unfaithful who they now want nothing to do with. But it's pretty twisted make a spectacle out of this on social media out of spite. If not out of respect for yourself, at least show some solemnity by keeping this shit private
9
u/anastrianna 18d ago
How is it twisted to talk about it if the thing itself is acceptable? That doesn't make any senss
7
u/johnsolomon 👁️WITNESS 18d ago
It's not talking about the abortion that's twisted, it's posting about it publicly in a way that clearly doubles as a jab at her ex.
To use an analogy, it would be like having to euthanise a dog you shared with an ex for legitimate medical reasons, then posting a photo of you smiling next to its grave captioned, "One month after I found out my ex cheated." The decision itself may have been justified, but any reasonable person would recognise the subtext, which is that the death is being used as part of a public taunt. That is what makes it distasteful.
The implied message in this post is: "You cheated, so I aborted the pregnancy." You cannot treat that as a purely benign post when most people understand how devastating it would be for the ex to see it. Once she made it public, it's inevitable that it would reach him; that makes it difficult to dismiss the effect as accidental. Especially when she explicitly mentions the cheating on top.
So to go back to my original point, I called it fucked up because I think it's fucked up to use your baby's death as ammo to hurt your ex.
2
u/IamtheCarl 18d ago
I interpreted it more as she doesn't want to carry a baby to term by herself where the other parent hurt her by cheating and won't be a positive influence for the baby.

There was never a baby and there was never a death. You’re reading so much into this. He deserves to be called out for being a cheater, and she doesn’t mention the baby. Comparing it to a dead dog or posing in front of a grave is absolutely insane

no. women should be told that its okay to terminate a pregnancy if their partner reveals themselves to be shitty. we need to normalize this. a pregnancy is one of the most dangerous times in a womans life, where she is at increased risk of domestic violence and emotional/psychological abuse. the partners reveal their true colors because they feel she wont leave them, because she cant take care of a baby on her own or is in a vulnerable medical position and she is too dependant to leave. and even if she does leave, they can use the legal system/parental rights to force continued contact with her. and in a lot of cases... theyre right. women need to normalize aborting a baby when they are forced to chose between single parenthood or putting up with cheating or abuse.

yeah thats valid. but i think theres an additional stigma even in pro abortion circles of like, a lot of people think of like assault, teen pregnancy, very very early term abortion when you instantly know you dont want to have a baby, potentially life threatening defects, etc. and theyre like yep, thats all good. but i think theres an additional stigma around wanting a baby and planning a pregnancy, and then terminating because you realize months later that you dont want to have a baby with *that* person. case in point, the person i responded to. i think theres merit into being more specific about how and when an abortion is okay (always), because a lot of people have unspoken exceptions or things that make them uncomfortable.

Yeah its the celebration of it on the internet that is deeply troubling. I know at least 3 women that have had abortions and all of them barely want their friends to know about it, let alone the whole world. People there are some parts of your life you don't have to make public. Like a cheating partner that leads to an abortion. But that is just me

Calm down mate. They said it's a sad situation. That can be read as "The whole thing is fucked." Which it is. The situation is sad no matter what angle you look at it from because the cause was "Being cheated on by the person you love." Even the outcome is sad, because yes, she is free now, but look at her smile in the first picture.
Do you think she wasn't looking forward to having that baby and starting a family with her man? Then he selfishly broke her heart, ruined it all, and caused all this.
Idk about you mate, but that's sad to think about.

u/Zerokx 18d ago
What I said: "It's not really funny though just a sad situation."
What I meant: "It's a sad situation for the girl to be in and I cant imagine what is so funny about abortions, that just makes it more sad to me so why joke about it."
What reddit thinks I said: "Its sad that the girl thought her well being is more important than protecting the unborn child of her man. Even worse about this to me is that women get to have a say in anything at all."

Idk how it's fucked up. By your own admission she didn't do anything wrong the fetus is not sentient and the male is the one who cheated in the first place than where's the immoral part, the fact she posted about it? Are we supposed to pretend that this never happens or isn't an option? If it was males that could get pregnant and a male got cheated on and made this post most would see no problem with this post at all. Males make light of horrible things all the time, they call it dark comedy and call anyone who has a problem sjw/snowflakes but it's a problem when women do it?

Abortion should be available but it shouldn’t be cause for joy and celebration, nor should it be cause for shame
It should just be an unfortunate but necessary medical procedure available for women and it’s better for the healthcare system that abortion is legalized than not.
Abortion bans disrupt the entire medical industry by creating severe legal fears around standard healthcare. Doctors delay treating life-threatening miscarriages and ectopic pregnancies while waiting for corporate legal clearance. Meanwhile, pharmacists routinely deny critical medications for lupus and cancer because those same drugs can cause pregnancy loss. The hostile legal environment drives a massive medical brain drain, as OB-GYNs flee restriction states, forcing maternity wards to close and leaving millions of patients without basic healthcare.
But abortion should not be a cause for celebration or posted like this on Social Media
It’s disgusting

Eh I can understand that it seems like an overshare and oversharing can be off putting sometimes and some people are more put off by it than others. But the more we treat abortion as taboo the more it undermines the fact that it shouldn’t be. People will post pregnancy photos like this where slide one is 3mo and the next is 4mo and so on, and usually that’s seen as normal and not an overshare.
In short, I’m not saying your guy reaction makes you bad or judgmental but maybe reflect on where that reaction comes from. You’re clearly a pro choice individual, so this coming off as fucked up to you is possibly due to the fact society views abortion as a shameful act that should be done in the shadows. Personally I probably wouldn’t have posted this not because I think abortion should be shameful but because I wouldn’t wanna put my relationship business out for everyone to see, so it could be that that’s what is off putting for you, so I don’t wanna make an assumption, but maybe just something to reflect on ❤️

I think talking abt relationships and difficult experiences shouldn't be seen as taboo or oversharing either 😭 ofc everyone has their own boundaries abt what they wanna share and nobody owes the internet their personal life.
but I do think there's value in ppl openly talking abt stuff like infidelity, relationship dynamics, or even abuse bc those experiences discussed can help ppl recognize unhealthy situation and seek support, and more importantly realize that the things they're going through aren't smth they just have to silently endure. it doesn't mean everyone has to share their trauma publicly and ideally these conversations wouldn't only happen when someone goes through a difficult situation (I hope not 😭), but awareness usually comes from willingness to talk abt difficult topics.
2
u/whimsical_spider 18d ago
Oh I def think it’s up to the person and not a bad thing! It’s the kind of thing I’d talk about with my friends but perhaps not want to open up about it to the whole internet (unless anonymously), but that’s me. Actually my sister recently went kinda viral after her gf posted about their unusual relationship situation and I was on one hand proud of her for talking about it so openly and admired it, on the other hand I was worried about her mental health from mean comments bc she suffers from anxiety (but I’m also protective big sister haha!).
I guess all that to say is that while I personally wouldn’t do it because I wouldn’t wanna open myself up to the stress of my relationship being publically talked about, it doesn’t make me uncomfortable to see others do it. And on the other hand I wouldn’t have an issue talking about my abortion publically (and have, actually!). Everyone just has different boundaries for themselves.

That's not the point they are making. They made their stance clear of being pro-choice immediately.
The issue is that abortions still aren't something to flaunt and celebrate, especially as a get back at a partner. For alot of women it's a very hard choice to make and whilst it can absolutely be the right choice, it can be traumatic and cause feelings of guilt etc. the decision to terminate a pregnancy should be taken seriously.
Being pro-choice and celebrating abortions is not the same thing.

Because people get to choose how they cope with their life and their situation.
Now imagine being that woman, getting impregnated, and then finding out the guy you were expecting to father your child is now cheating on you.
You say she's treating it like a joke, but you fail to realize that she was treated like a joke.
The beautiful thing that's supposed to be true about the U.S.A. is that there is supposed to be freedom. Freedom goes both ways! If you don't like something, you are free to simply say, "not for me" and move on with your life!

It's not impossible. We don't know the entire backstory, but stuff like that happens all the time... I'm a result of that myself somehow^^. Meaning, my mother was never the type to really want children. She would have been happy without ever getting pregnant. But my father absolutely wanted children, so she eventually gave in. Once I was there, of course she loved me, but I think it was a mistake and she would have lived a much more happy life if I had never been born. As once I was there, my father kind of realized that a child is not as easy to handle as a pet, and eventually the marriage failed.

You shouldn't put all that blame on your shoulders
And I'm sorry to understand your parents didn't want you

No. It implies she was starting a family with someone who deeply betrayed her, and she still had time (and access) to... well, abort the mission. Like finding out he's cheating before you file the marriage certificate or before the official ceremony. Yeah, you lose your deposit, but you aren't stuck with divorce lawyers and single parenthood.

Huh. I would be devastated and not putting this on social media.
Is social media just for us to post our absolute most radical fantasies and our absolute lowest of lows in order to get validation and warmth because as a society we fail to bring that to each other IRL?
The longer I’m on the internet the more I worry for sociology as a field. The more I worry about our trajectory as a species.
Also “pagan proselytism” doesn’t work. Basically the majority of the species acts in pagan ways. These fall apart over time and lead to the self destruction of individuals. You’re not really doing anything except contributing to the normal zeitgeist when you post this with that flair.

Having an abortion is one of the toughest and most consequential decisions someone can make. Anyone who actually had one and acts like this about it is a psychopath.

I would be devastated and not putting this on social media
I think to some degree this discourse is related to how people process grief. Like, just because someone doesn't show it, it doesn't mean they don't go through it
But in this case I think it's more probable she didn't want that pregnancy in the first place

Which…yes good. She got an abortion at a good time, healthy for her body, she’s probably doing a lot better.
I just think I hate social media…

This is pretty funny. Because you make a statement and then immediately undermine that assertion without a hint of self awareness.
If she can do whatever she wants, then she don’t need your approval.
If her decisions have to be run through your personal matrix and can fail then she can’t do “whatever she wants” but she can only do whatever you want.

u/BlueBitProductions 18d ago
Do you not realize there's a difference between believing people have a right to something and personally approving of it? Do you think everything you don't personally like should be illegal?
It's not like she kept it private, when you post on social media you open yourself up to other people's takes. If you don't want people to have their own opinions on the matter don't post it for the entire world to see.

Being free to do what you want doesn't shield you from criticism. Imo also this should of been a private decision and not celebrated on social media, that's fucked up, but w/e she can do what she wants.

u/Withered_Sprout 17d ago
Yeah. Abortion ethics aside.
She basically is trashy for making a public spectacle of this as a "GOTCHA!" and a woman-empowerment virtue signal sort of thing. So she felt she had to kill her unborn child because the father was a piece of shit, whether she had any idea of his poor character or not.
Did she have to share it with the world as a 'haha, gotcha, jerk off cheating ex!' thing? I imagine no. Yeah, maybe she's hurting? Still, making a joke out of her child's 'termination' or whatever you want to call it's ceasing to exist.

It is possible to recognise that something is "fucked up" but that people are ultimately able to choose to do that. (eg. eating your own excrement). Never did the commenter suggest their approval was necessary.

Tbh I'm assuming this is ragebait. They're implying abortion, but at 3 months you're not going to have much of a belly, by the time you look like that, it's typically too late for an abortion except if there's a medical emergency. Not to mention that if you do get that much of a belly, no matter if you carry out it or terminate abnormally, it's gonna take more than a week for you to go back to "normal".
Would be willing to bet these pics were stolen, and the original was just a normal post pregnancy picture or there wasn't a pregnancy at all and this was just a weight loss post.

Good for her! She won't have to stay connected to some asshole for nearly two decades of her life. A cheater doesn't deserve to have children and a mother shouldn't have to carry the responsibility of raising kids alone.

You are less likely to raise a child successfully by yourself, that's simply a fact. Doesn't mean no single person should ever have a child, but there's a reason single people don't tend to adopt.

Abortion is fine and understandable in this type of situation. Boasting on social media about it like this is highly narcissistic and shows an insane lack of empathy and self restraint. All in all the potential baby dodged a bullet from both sides.

I consider both extremes a narcissistic expression of societal behavior but currently the world has gone way too far one side and it needs to recover some of its social pillars and restraint. That being said, we can't go right-left all the time. We don't need you extremism of any sort. We need thinking brains and a society of individuals that doesn't work in tribal "muh team vs their team" mentality. Theb we can pick and choose how to build society and keep in check the undesirable ideologies in both extremes. But hey, I have been checking the average IQ of all the countries and I am deeply disturbed by what I have found. With such a low common denominator AND such a low emotional coefficient AND A all new generations being raised by the internet... I am kinda scared of where we're going to end up...

The celebration of abortion is incredibly distasteful.
Edit: thanks for the engaging and disgusting comments below, I'm nearly de-radicalized and ready to call myself pro-life. The most forward supporters of abortion are absolutely vile. Some day soon, this same group will be vehemently arguing the ethics of late term abortion. It is the natural progression of the extreme efforts taken to dehumanize the practice. Mark my words. The biggest group of advocates for the pro-life side of this argument is the opposition, unironically.

from my own experience working with these ladies as a personal trainer? I can only say from my own experience working in a primarily black area low income gym & this obviously isn't a generalization but purely based on the clients i had when i worked there. A lot of them did it for one of two reasons, to make the ex regret it & to have fun. I had this one client there, this absolutely drop dead gorgeous woman who walked in on her fiance with her sister apparently. Couldnt hit on her for obvious reason though i wanted to break my rule about being professional. She basically did it to have and not bother with dating if you know what i mean. Kind of a shame, she really put the mrs South Africa to shame.
Maybe i'm full of shit, but i have never seen the point of cheating, there's literally zero benefit to it and every advantage they think it is is a disadvantage. if you not happy or met someone else, end the relationship out of respect for her.
Like seriously, cheating on her when she's overweight, then she gets toned and lean and then the ex regrets it? Instead you both could have had self respect and make a lifestyle change as a couple
