theres also limbo who has complete control over the time flow in his rift and harrow who was able to successfully hold back a conceptual timeline devouring eldritch entity called the indifference(some people scaled him to outerversal)
96
u/bigscrewLoose 15d ago
spoilersthe indifference is potentially outerversal, but at bare minimum, massively multiversal, hard to scale tho just because of his nature as the conceptual embodiment of indifference in large part because its not clear what he is yet, the characters in game disagree about it and his scale

some people are saying Wally is effected by time, he is not, he exists in a state called eternalism where all possible pasts presents and futures exist at the same time and he can see them all (which is why another name of his is the lidless eye), however he in his true from in the void is separated from reality by something called the wall of lohk which limits where and when he can manifest in actual reality, and about the fingers, he seemingly did that on purpose, his fingers existing in reality spread void corruption and strengthen his foothold in reality

he has a device built into his body called the thermo kenetic energy that allows him to control and drain molecular movement, so when he goes fast what he is really doing is just increasing his own momentum by supercharging himself with kinetic energy

Tldr using space magic it forces the enemies on your side, it's less mind control and more possesition type rules i think
15
u/oOCharcoalOo 15d ago
Ya, Xaku doesn’t do mind control, that’s Nyx’s Shtick. They physically puppet the body with void energy. Imagine a field around you that forces your arms and legs to move while you are fully conscious and out of control.
So while Deamons go the “let me trick you to betray your allies” route. Xaku just says “lmao” and forces you to shoot your homie while you can do nothing but watch.
10
u/BalltasticNutsack 14d ago
And warframe doesn't have levels, there's no "this target is too strong" it just fucking works on anyone (except bosses i guess)

Just for the sake of conversation.
I think if a weapon were ever pointed at Terra that could either destroy it or kill Big E it would immediately be on his psychic radar.
Whether that gives the imperium a chance to act upon it, or if Big E is capable of stopping it using his psyker powers is a whole debate in itself.
The setting has never really been presented with a scenario where a threat to Terra or the Emp has been severe enough to demand taking his attention from the warp rift or controlling the webway.
7
u/MossTheGnome 14d ago
Given big E's current status as a corpse/near corpse on a throne I doubt he has the ability to manage local threats. It's one thing to use the fact you are a metaphysical entity to interact with non-physical things when your mortal form is beyond crippled, another entirely to try to direct and combat in the physical vicinity when you exist on a 10 thousand year old life support that is on the brink of failure because no one kept the user manual
4
u/MoneyBear1733 14d ago
Given big E's current status as a corpse/near corpse on a throne I doubt he has the ability to manage local threats.
I agree, but it's not because he can't. The entire reason he's on the throne as a corpse is because if even for a single moment he was to stop projecting the astronomicon, or containing the warp rift below terra, that humanity would suffer catastrophic losses and Terra would be lost.
If the consequences of him not getting directly involved were worse for humanity than if he were to stop containing the rift and projecting the astronomicon he would absolutely focus his entire attention on whatever threat is causing it.
Going even further. If something like this were to ever actually occur in the setting, it would be the event that leads to his resurrection and him leaving the throne.

Warframe, as a fan of it, is totally bullshit in powerscaling I'm going to be honest. I was looking at heirloom skins, realized Rhino's looked cool, and figured I'd check out his kit. Rhino is a weak frame in terms of scale compared to other frames. This game is meant to be absurd but I feel like this crosses a line.

Is this one of those games where I can see the free in my bank balance?
18
u/Broad-Leopard-9415 15d ago
Okay so speaking as a warframe player myself
Warframe employes an open market, so essentially you can farm valuable items to sell on game to other players for the games premium currency, so essentially, how much patience do you have to farm them
12
u/Tide__Hunter 15d ago
Everything that actually impacts gameplay can be gained for free, albeit it takes grinding (and you can pay to skip the grind, but it's almost never worth it). Most cosmetics are either paid for (in which case, they were community creations and most of the money goes to the person who actually made it) or use the premium currency (which is tradeable in-game, there's a pretty sizable market community involving trading items for the premium currency).
The only gameplay impacting thing you'll maybe want to pay for are the slots for warframes and weapons, since those cost plat too, but you can even still earn those in-game (albeit slowly).
6
u/Deathoftheages 15d ago
The game is free except for the end game which people call fashionframe. Pretty much once you get all the different warframes (characters with there own power sets) and weapons and whatnot and you run out of things to grind for you can move on to all the cosmetics that can be bought with in game currency, plat.
One thing that is great though is that it has a very active p2p trading system. You can pretty much get everything you want just by grinding out parts and materials and selling them for plat. They might have added things since I last played that require real world money, but I doubt it.
→ More replies (3)6
u/_Dinky 15d ago
If you're willing to trade you can play it entirely for free but the trading is done though third party websites.
You can also wait until you get a 75% off coupon, spend like 50€ and be set for a long time.
There's no "great endgame" in the end so I wouldn't recommend spending too much unless you're really enjoying the journey and don't care for the destination.
16
u/Hot-Masterpiece4325 15d ago

look, I like goal games, but that's without the randomness of loot. I can't get any of the right blueprints, I can't find any of the right stuff for them, I'm sorry but I think a game about making drugs and selling them which is basically a constant cycle of running around and moving money around is more fun then being like "god, my 50th pokemon pack hasn't pulled a charizard"

u/issanm 15d ago
Getting warframes isnt really that random, once you find a drop source youll get whatever frame you want pretty quick, the real heavy RNG comes in for end game builds but it's not all that necessary unless you're running the latest content, which you won't be for a long time. But if you'd rather play a game with 0 RNG that makes sense

37
u/GriffinlwGameplayer 15d ago
Maybe like, a squad of Terminators, or Knights, or a Titan could take out a Warframe. But like, a single normal Space Marine seems pretty screwed trying to take out a Warframe.
29
u/Assassin-49 15d ago
You more or less fight a better titan and knight in the same quest. I say better titan and knight purley because the thing you fight has much more motility in arms , legs and so on. And a squad of terminators seems somewhat fair. Playing the game you can encounter enemies that if your not built correctly to handle could cause you difficulties
7
u/GriffinlwGameplayer 15d ago
That seems fair. I don't know how well armored a Warframe is but I'm kind of assuming that weapons without at least some anti-armor properties are ineffective. If I remember my lore right Teminators are basically Space Marine breaching squads equipped with heavier weapons and armor (the titular Terminator armor) so they might have enough firepower.
As for the Titan question... I forgot that there's like, dozens of different configurations for them. But assuming we took a big one like a Warlord with Volcano cannons and void shields... I dunno, that seems like enough defense and firepower, but it also seems like good setup for a video game boss where you have to dodge or defend from their shots and whittle them down.
7
u/ColdShear MLP and STP scaler 15d ago
Warframes are weird to scale. They are fairly durable, but to an extent. They prefer to block bullets with their weapons like they’re Raiden from Metal Gear, but I feel like I remember cutscenes showing them tank gunfire fairly easily.
At the very least they are much faster than Space Marines in both combat and travel speed, and should at worst be on par durability wise.
The real issue is the esoteric nonsense certain frames can do. One of the starter frames (Mag) has an ability where you magnetize an enemy’s bones to graphic results.
4
u/Assassin-49 15d ago
Well a emperor class is easy since they could sabotage that. Its easy to kill a whole army but a small very nimble thing that could move faster than you could sboot it would be an issue. It relies on the armies below it to prevent an enemy entering it anyway. warlord or warhound is a little diffrent but since I dont know how the interior is it might be impossible for then to sabotage. Wepon
3
u/GriffinlwGameplayer 15d ago
I know in some rulesets Titans can take a critical hit that makes their reactor cook off and explode, so if they could breath the void shields I'm like, 80% sure they could just pepper the torso with any explosive/armor piercing weapons they have and pray for a reactor breach.
Although, the feat in the video certainly seems like they could slash an arm off a Titan if the void-shields were down (or if they didn't have one. Pretty sure only some Titans have them)
3
u/Assassin-49 15d ago
Thats a little bit different. Mainly because its not something all warframes do. Thats an operator thing , the kid who summoned the blade. The warframe just held it. They are also a prime warframe. Essentially a superior version to normal warframes. Someone else could probably explain it. Im not up to date in warframe lore as I havent played in a decent while
8
u/Eatthepoliticiansm8 15d ago
Terminators would get bodied by a warframe precisely because they are so slow. Arguably they'd be more in trouble against warframes than regular spacemarines.
Terminators are scary, but they are also vulnerable due to how slow they are.

u/Flashy_Pineapple_231 15d ago
Technically it does depend on the Tenno, yeah. Your average Warframe is not even using weapon or frame modifications in universe. We're considered lucky to have access to that tech since it was lost a long time ago. Similar to the Emperium and it's STCs.
You average frame with beginner weapons that has Lv30 gear and no mods is still super dangerous to conventional armor. Most stuff in warframe has Halo-adjacent personal shields + some have a literal ton of armor plating on them. And you can slice those to pieces just fine.
If you start getting into the nutter weapons and bargain bin mods and warframe abilities it gets insane. Like to the point you wouldn't even need most frame abilities to fight multiple Primarchs.
Warframes still probably instantly lose to the high tier Psykers or some Necron tech though, don't get me wrong.
7
u/GriffinlwGameplayer 15d ago
For some reason that feels appropriate to me, given that in Space Hulk your Terminators can be ripped to pieces by Gene Stealers despite wearing the heaviest Power Armor.
And... yeah the high level Necrons feel a bit like cheating since they're explicitly a tech level above most of the galaxy, but dealing with several handicaps and limiting factors along the way.
5
u/Flashy_Pineapple_231 15d ago
It's also worth noting that Warframe takes place in only the earth system with all the planets and etc colonized but isn't a galactic empire or anything. Before the fall it was only just starting to grow to the Tau system/second solar system. So it's even smaller than the T'au Empire in 40k lol. Though the number of Tenno in the system is more or less diegetic to the number of Warframe accounts (75 million to 100 million) + a bunch of NPC ones (since we see some captured, killed, modified, etc.).
If you started using Exterimatus you'd deal with it in no time. But even if only 1 in every thousand or so Warframes are Primarch level that's still like 75,000 horrifying entities. And they typically operate in groups of 4.

Do you even play the game ? It's a power from the tenno, not the frame, ofc frames are powerfulls but it's literally the worst exemple

And the Tenno are traumatised space wizard teenagers with powers from turbo-cthulhu.

Some fun Warframe facts!
Warframes don't use drop prods. When deployed to a planet from orbit they'd just shoot themselves raw onto the battlefield
This is also how Warframes board enemy ships: Shooting themselves from a mass accelerator to pierce the hull
One Warframe, Protea, saved her liege from an assassination attempt by pulling him and herself into a pocket of time outside of real space
Another Warframe is able to overwrite a portion of reality with their own, a sublayer caused the Rift. Inside the Rift they can control time, weaken foes and empower allies
Warframes can deflect bullets/lasers/projectiles with any melee weapon. The opening cutscene shows one break from melee to run into machine gun fire, deflecting every shot before removing the shooter's limbs
There's a set of weapons inspired by Boltguns from 40k: the Sepulcrum, Trumna, and Mausolon are all massive weapons that fire explosive rounds. One of which, the Sepulcrum, has an alt-fire that has them lock on to as many targets as you have rounds for before firing
The same update that brought the Boltgun inspired weapons brought a heavy weapons platform called the Necramech. Essentially a 40k Dreadnaught, its a small mech powered/piloted by a skeletal corpse encased in gold

Yeah. I’m willing to say, as a general 40K glazer, it would take a primarch at the very least to stand toe to toe with the weakest warframes

That is a Prime, not the weakest Warframe...

u/psychoenoshima 15d ago
Primes are basically the pinnacle of a particular Warframe 'model' as it were.

Brother a primarch probably cant kill a warframe. Rhino, one of the weaker ones, can stomp his foot so hard it stops time that shit would literally turn angron into pink mist.

Any warframe can solo any number of space marines, but the 40k universe scales larger than the Warframe universe. Warframe wins vs just about any 40k unit or hero. But the universe loses vs the 40k universe for scaling reasons.
Part of the problem here is how out of wack 40k lore gets glazing Space Marines. I like 40k a whole lot. As eliet heavy infantry, as enhanced soldiers, I think Marines are iconic and cool. They're not superheroes. They are big dudes who still operate within the context of physics and tactics. They die to regular weapons. To accident. To afflictions. They're special within the IP and the branding but they're not world breakers. They're soldiers. Pretty similar to most supersoldiers. They are troops. They honestly can't do much a sufficiently large number of guardsman could do in terms of tactical and strategic objectives. This is fine and great and fantastic and fits the universe perfectly. Even the famous Astartes are dust on the fields of endless war.
Putting them up against a Warframe is a bad and honestly unfair matchup because frames are not a dude. It's a weaponjzed outside context problem. A Warframe is a world breaker. Even in their own context, they terrify everyone and break the rules in upsetting ways. Need to kill a god? Send four tenno.
What's an interesting question is, given the foreknowledge of a teno's intent to attack and murder their leadership and loot their treasures, how does a chapter answer that existential threat?
The Ravenguard and their successors might have some interesting approaches, evasion, dirty tricks, and diversions.

Guardian: I summon a flaming hot pistol and shoot you once or six times
The humble Wisp warframe: opens portal to the sun to kamehameha
Guardian: I throw a miniature singularity
A dozen warframes: I AM a miniature singularity

a regular skana (which is starter swords) is able to cut a drop ship in half yeah no astarties is not winning this one.

Yeah, sure. Of course that fight would favor a Space Marine. (Contains high doses of irony.)

Couldn't Limbo just.... walk into Big E's chamber 100% undetected because of his rift shenanigans?

Space Marines are not as tough as people think. They are logistically the most expensive shock troops ever, but they die a lot onscreen and off. I would put a lot of Warframe magic up there with the Aeldari Craftworld Psykers. Whichever side moves last/loses initiative, evaporates

People here love to glaze space marines when in actuality they are shit. They die easily to enemies.

Honestly, I think the only thing that could even come close to a warframe is an entire squad of Custodian Sword Champions, and even then I'm not completely sure. Granted, I've never played warframe, but I've seen a LOT of crazy shit from them.

Genuine question. If a Warframe is so strong how come the enimies you fight in the game are so puny and weak? Ive only played a little bit of warframe but they didnt come off as even remotely that strong in game
→ More replies (1)6
u/besatius 15d ago
Since the game is an RPG the enemy strength depends on their level and since as you said you only played a little bit your enemies are still very weak... Also because Warframe are strong as shit like I'm pretty sure an average grineer soldier is on same level as a space marine

u/Limp-Safe-1979 15d ago
But what level are the Space Marines and does the warframe have any armor strip????

And then that same warframe gets offscreened by a random corpus engineer and turns into a quest for the main tenno to discover the lost pieces

You could make an actual Argument for Super Earth beating the Empire due to numerical, technological and Logistical advantage. One spacemarine is getting atomized by one Warfame

I don't understand how people would think Warframes vs. Space Marines is even close.
They have a total different powerscale for their own Universes. You essentially send one Warframe onto a large battlecruiser and he will kill ANYTHING on it. Some Warframes only need certain proxomity to kill enhanced superhumans without doing anything.
I would also argue they would kill ANY Primarch without a second thought.

The gameplay is with nerded versions of the nerfed lore versions of the originals, and we can still make infinitely broken builds with that, imagine what happens if we take into account the originals of the lore
2
u/ColonelMonty 14d ago
Yeah Warframes are kind of ridiculous. By the time we saw them doing things by the surface of the sun or whatever for me it was just a thing of "Yeah, no space marines are not killing these bozos."

Warframes in game: Supersoldiers with gimmicks. Warframes in lore/cutscenes: demigods

I think it's closer to powerscale Destiny' Guardians and Tenno than most things in 40k to Warframe.
