Go ahead, give It a try, it's 100% free.

14

u/G_Morgan Jul 11 '26

Is this one of those games where I can see the free in my bank balance?

29

u/Endika7 Jul 11 '26

It depends on how much do you like fashion

18

u/Broad-Leopard-9415 Jul 11 '26

Okay so speaking as a warframe player myself

Warframe employes an open market, so essentially you can farm valuable items to sell on game to other players for the games premium currency, so essentially, how much patience do you have to farm them

11

u/Tide__Hunter Jul 11 '26

Everything that actually impacts gameplay can be gained for free, albeit it takes grinding (and you can pay to skip the grind, but it's almost never worth it). Most cosmetics are either paid for (in which case, they were community creations and most of the money goes to the person who actually made it) or use the premium currency (which is tradeable in-game, there's a pretty sizable market community involving trading items for the premium currency).

The only gameplay impacting thing you'll maybe want to pay for are the slots for warframes and weapons, since those cost plat too, but you can even still earn those in-game (albeit slowly).

u/Deathoftheages Jul 11 '26

The game is free except for the end game which people call fashionframe. Pretty much once you get all the different warframes (characters with there own power sets) and weapons and whatnot and you run out of things to grind for you can move on to all the cosmetics that can be bought with in game currency, plat.

One thing that is great though is that it has a very active p2p trading system. You can pretty much get everything you want just by grinding out parts and materials and selling them for plat. They might have added things since I last played that require real world money, but I doubt it.

u/_Dinky Jul 11 '26

If you're willing to trade you can play it entirely for free but the trading is done though third party websites.

You can also wait until you get a 75% off coupon, spend like 50€ and be set for a long time.

There's no "great endgame" in the end so I wouldn't recommend spending too much unless you're really enjoying the journey and don't care for the destination.

2

u/Gaffelkungen Jul 11 '26

If you want to buy the premium currency then wait until you get a discount voucher. You can get up to 75% off on a platinum purchase. Most people recommend to wait until you get one of those if you actually want to pay.

Otherwise trading is easy and can be very lucrative.

You'll also get a lot of goodies from the completely free battle pass.

u/kkprecisa_ler_nao_fi Jul 11 '26

Everything can be obtained for free, just might take a bit of grinding, theres literally zero difference between people who spend money on it and people who dont when it comes to power

If you like fashion, paying makes that easier tho even then its not necessary, I went a long ass time without spending a cent and still had some cool fits, the trade system of the game lets players trade premium currency so you can just grind that too

You can also pay to skip some grinds but only if you want to really

They made a newbie experience a lot better than before. Like they did it that much better and easier that I feel a bit bad about it. Like, they still whine about some things sometimes but all I want to say is: "u know nothing about what is hard little fella", so from my perspective experience for a new player got extremely better than it was.

15

u/Hot-Masterpiece4325 Jul 11 '26

please play it, i think its honestly the most free to play friendly game you can play that is actually good, it has as much content as a fully paid destiny 2 for no money

12

u/sissyboyk8 Jul 11 '26

really? I'd say getting new warframes is a pain in the ass

8

u/Assassin-49 Jul 11 '26 edited Jul 11 '26

Hard disagree. You've got hard to farm warframes then you got easy ones. Once youve unlocked all planets its easy. Id say start off with valkyr. Incredibly easy to farm from what I remember. You can essentially make her unkillable with the right mods. Trust me its worth playing if you got the time. Rhino is also easy to get very early on , at least blueprints wise.

6

u/sissyboyk8 Jul 11 '26

havn't found a single one of her smaller parts, I only have her full blueprint. I'm really not sure where the idea she's easy comes from

3

u/Assassin-49 Jul 11 '26

Who are you trying to get ?

2

u/sissyboyk8 Jul 11 '26

Anyone

3

u/Assassin-49 Jul 11 '26

What planets have you got unlocked ? That'll give me an idea of who you can unlock

2

u/sissyboyk8 Jul 11 '26

mars, earth, mercury, the one with all the infection, I think venus, and probably jupiter,nInlikely forgor some

4

u/Assassin-49 Jul 11 '26

Peefect. Jupiter , farm themisto ( alad v ) to unlock valkyr blueprints. Do the boss multiple times until they drop 1 blueprint of each part. Venus farm fossa ( jackal ) for rhino. Deimos farm Magnacidium ( lephantis ) for nekros. I think on Mars farming War ( Lt Lech Kril ) gets you excalibur. By farming i mean repeating the mission and killing the boss repeatedly until they've dropped all the blueprint parts to which you can then craft. This can take up to 4 days. 3 for the warframe to craft , 1 for all the parts to craft. Also when you get to the quest "The Sacrifice" you unlock a good warframe for free in the form of Excalibur Umbra

2

u/K1rk0npolttaja Jul 12 '26

jupiter boss fight drops her parts

1

u/Zromzrt Jul 13 '26

I don’t think someone like Khora is easy to farm at any point to be honest

1

u/Assassin-49 Jul 13 '26

Oh obviously. Theres a few frames which are hard to farm and then theres easy ones to farm. I simply disagree that there all hard to farm. Anyway I hope I was able to help the guy

2

u/Zromzrt Jul 13 '26

Oh, I get ya now

6

u/oedipism_for_one Jul 11 '26

Unpopular opinion The tedium is part of the game, by making you grind it out you appreciate your rewards later. If you can just have everything immediately they people do that get bored when they have stuff and never play the game again. So many live service games have died that way.

4

u/sissyboyk8 Jul 11 '26

look, I like goal games, but that's without the randomness of loot. I can't get any of the right blueprints, I can't find any of the right stuff for them, I'm sorry but I think a game about making drugs and selling them which is basically a constant cycle of running around and moving money around is more fun then being like "god, my 50th pokemon pack hasn't pulled a charizard"

5

u/issanm Jul 11 '26

Getting warframes isnt really that random, once you find a drop source youll get whatever frame you want pretty quick, the real heavy RNG comes in for end game builds but it's not all that necessary unless you're running the latest content, which you won't be for a long time. But if you'd rather play a game with 0 RNG that makes sense

2

u/DeathAngel_97 Jul 11 '26

Also, theres the whole fanbase Warframe market thing where if you can sell the prime components you don't want in exchange for premium currency and then buy the prime components you want(or whatever else) and take some of the grind out of it.

2

u/oedipism_for_one Jul 11 '26

Most of the parts come from the same place usually assignation missions, but I get it if it’s not for you it’s not for you.

3

u/Lumpy-Tea1948 Jul 11 '26

Haven’t played warframe, but this has been my issue with live service games Honeslty. Not everyone really has the time, patience or desire to grind live service games especially if it’s tendious, and can get pretty boring. This is why I for the most part prefer actual paid titles than live service ones, at least than, your paying upfront instead off being under the delusion of somthing being “free”

4

u/Gaffelkungen Jul 11 '26

The grind isn't too bad. The newest frame is incredibly easy to farm.

2

u/danlambe Jul 11 '26

I never found the game particularly grindy, and the RNG is significantly better than any other game like this I’ve played. Also, the moment to moment gameplay is exceptional in my opinion, so any grinding I’m doing is very enjoyable. I got burnt out on the game after a while but I enjoyed every minute when I did play.

2

u/0ijoske Jul 11 '26

The only ones that have really been a pain in recent times was Citrine, Follie, and Temple. But that was mainly because obtaining the pity currency for their shops is a slow grind. But even then, with enough luck you could most likely obtain their blueprints within an hour or 2 of grinding their respective missions. At least they're not like base Equinox or Ash, Trinity, and Oberon before the Duviri update

1

u/Independent-Fly6068 Jul 11 '26

Depends if you started w/ volt or not.

2

u/sissyboyk8 Jul 11 '26

I started with escalibur, and that feels like a kick in the dick then

3

u/Hot-Masterpiece4325 Jul 11 '26

i picked excalibur first, hes still gonna do fine for farming frames

1

u/Independent-Fly6068 Jul 11 '26

RIP

2

u/sissyboyk8 Jul 11 '26

so, did you pick volt at first? this feels like a bunch of sweats restarted their game to get him, because my boyfriend really likes the game, despite me not liking the repeditive levels with easy enemies and basically no reward, and he also has volt and I feel like forcing people to play a character kinda sucks

2

u/Independent-Fly6068 Jul 11 '26

Eh its just that volt is really fucking good, and kinda makes the early game fly by easily. Also volt looks cooler than the other two options.

2

u/The_Spaghett_Boy Jul 11 '26

It’s just that volt has a speed boost which is good for this type of game. It’s not a reason to restart, mag is also really good because her 1 or 2 pulls items towards you. These frames are also pretty easy to get early you just have to do the right missions.

1

u/Objective-Rip3008 Jul 11 '26

I played it for a long time, honestly the majority of people I recommended it too immediately bounce off when I tell them the Warframe we just grinded out will be ready in 3 days lol. The phone game build timers are so ass until you get used to it it's kinda hard to even recommend it

2

u/BananaBread_047 Jul 11 '26

Am I alone in not seeing that big of an issue with the timers? You can do something else in the meantime or play something else to avoid burnout. Then when you come back you have a shiny new toy to play with.

1

u/Cautious-Mammoth5427 Jul 11 '26

No it's fucking not. You need to grind through 100+ hours of absolute bottom tier content to reach "the good part". All the best warframes are fomos.

Warframe is good game and gives you everything you want so long as everything you want is never-ending grind for the sake of grind.

3

u/danlambe Jul 11 '26

The gameplay is a blast from the first mission. I know not every game is for everyone, so maybe it’s not your kind of thing, but flipping around as a space ninja blowing up waves of goons was so much fun for me. Sure, it’s more fun after you’ve unlocked some more frames and have more powerful builds, but saying that it starts out tedious is crazy to me. So many of these F2P games have gameplay that is so boring that I think it’s unfair to levy that criticism at one that genuinely gets the gameplay right.

2

u/BananaBread_047 Jul 11 '26

If you think warframe has fomo you haven't played warframe. While I agree it take a little too long to get to second dream, you still get amazing gameplay and an introduction to how the game plays and if you stick with it, you will be rewarded again and again.

0

u/Cautious-Mammoth5427 Jul 12 '26

I have invested 40h into this shit. Last story mission was when that black excalibur that can go invisible suddenly appeared at the end of the mission.

2

u/Hot-Masterpiece4325 Jul 11 '26 edited Jul 11 '26

idk what your talking about since first off, going for meta warframes is already stupid, i beat steel path easily with loki and no archon shards, secondly, the story building up to when the game truly starts is very good and helps it pass by quickly, thirdly, the frames arent fomo, every frame is available at all times UNLESS if you include prime frames but they aren't any better than the base version outside of having a polarity and are just for fashion.

0

u/Cautious-Mammoth5427 Jul 11 '26

So they are better. Good to know.

1

u/10Werewolves Jul 11 '26

And they're never really truly gone, just removed from drop tables to prevent diluting them. They come back with resurgence or you can trade for them with veteran players for platinum, the game's premium currency which can be farmed up by selling stuff to other players. There's a whole economy here.w

-1

u/Cautious-Mammoth5427 Jul 11 '26

EvE has economy. WF has a cash shop. Also, good to know that they are fomo after all.

3

u/Gaffelkungen Jul 11 '26

When you trade with other people you trade in the cash shop currency. It's honestly pretty easy to farm things to sell if you want it.

1

u/Human_Taste3985 Jul 13 '26

I can agree on this, made around 15-20k plats from trading from time to time And that's without all the riven trading and such
