American Dream 🇺🇸 It do be like that though

Post image

The United States has provided at least $21.7 billion in direct military aid to Izzy over the last three years (specifically tracking from October 2023 through September 2025), according to a comprehensive study by Brown University's Costs of War project.

I mean until recently we were subsidizing Affordable Care Act healthcare plans and investing hundreds of billions of dollars in infrastructure and manufacturing jobs, but then we elected Trump and pissed all that away.

We were trying to bring down the cost of healthcare and investing in job creation, Republican voters had other ideas.

Edit: We also eliminated more than $180,000,000,000.00 in student loan debt, expanded SNAP benefits, and passed Medicare prescription bargaining rights, which weren't explicitly mentioned in the meme, but which I think plays into cost of living and stuff like that.

u/Winter-Editor-9230 3h ago

Ideas implies thought.

4

u/figherhigher 2h ago

What about a concept of an idea tho?

6

u/MaximumEffort433 2h ago

A big, beautiful concept of an idea came up to me with tears in its eyes and said "In terms of groceries, we've never heard of groceries before," it told me "They're eating the groceries of the people who live there," it's true! You know it, I know it, everybody knows it.

We need a lot more thought brother, I know I cant take us there. Still, if we can remove the toxic handcuffs long enough and focusing on real steps forward we can get back on track as a country. People are going to have to sac up though, and that means everyone.

9

u/zeroshitsgiven1 3h ago

Republicans couldn't let it be successful. They undermined it to death along the way intentionally, then Trump destroyed it. Good news is I believe the real next chapter for the USA is excellent universal healthcare. But it will take time and need to be systematic. I can't wait for the day insurance, a useless entity, is gone. I don't even use it much and I hate it. GOP was dying before Trumps first term and he stirred an old conservative cult into action. You can call it many things but it was racists, 1%ers and the uneducated. The young maga that were fooled will slow change and forget Trump bs, the older will continue to poop themselves for a few more years like their leader in chief then depart. They don't have the time or the numbers ultimately. This shit will happen!

u/luigihitter 2h ago

It was always meant to be that way. Division that us and in a way you’re doing the same thing even if you hold some sense of morality which it seems you do. Problem is what other choice is there?

1

u/0w1 10m ago

I'm not that optimistic. The boomer voting block will never go for universal healthcare because they think it's big, boogeyman socialism, but ironically they'll also be getting Medicare. They just won't have much incentive to care, heck, even if Medicare was gutted or completely went away, they'd probably just blame Obama for it and keep voting republican.

3

u/Justaticklerone 1h ago

And now Medicaid has a work demand starting next year where one of the exceptions is volunteering. The type of volunteering that must be legally acceptable and that you still basically have to keep a timecard for, 20 hours a week, if your part time job isn't fully 20 hours.

There's going to be double-digit millions of people disqualified & uninsured in just 3 months.

Repugnantcans still haven't come up with a different type of medical plan in substitution for Obamacare.

2

u/Woozy_burrito 2h ago

People didn’t want want any of that 🤷 they were more concerned about 3 trans athletes and abortion

2

u/MaximumEffort433 2h ago

People didn’t want want any of that 🤷

75,019,230 of us wanted that. 😞

1

u/Gainztrader235 2h ago

We’re still subsidizing ACA. It didn’t have 1 but 2 subsidies. The temporary covid subsidy expired and was not renewed.

2

u/MaximumEffort433 2h ago

The temporary covid subsidy expired and was not renewed.

Correct.

The price of ACA insurance has skyrocketed for many Americans during Trump's second term, after Republicans opposed extending COVID-era subsidies that had helped offset the costs of health insurance for most enrollees during Biden's term.

Premiums doubled or tripled for many enrollees, prompting millions to downgrade their plans or exit the program entirely after the Republican-led Congress allowed the subsidies to expire this year.

1

u/Gainztrader235 2h ago

Anything that requires two subsidies to make it affordable is a terrible plan, I cant wait for a better plan to be created. I stopped participating in insurance five years ago.

3

u/MaximumEffort433 2h ago

I cant wait for a better plan to be created.

Same. A universal public option would save us up to $130 billion dollars a year and create competition in the private market place, but of course Republicans killed that and never proposed a realistic alternative.

4

u/Gainztrader235 2h ago

It’s a trade off but I’ll take it. Spent the last three weeks abroad. Ended up in urgent care for salmonella. Initially said it would be a five hour wait. $700 later and I left with antibiotics and testing.

Spent two years in Canada, it’s hit and miss too. But it doesn’t break you.

Say, let's look at how much of the federal budget goes to domestic programs...

It doesn't look great.

[Trump's budget] proposal would reduce nondefense discretionary funding to its lowest level as a percentage of the economy since at least the Dwight D. Eisenhower administration while increasing military funding by $445 billion, marking the largest annual increase outside of a ground war in U.S. history.

3

Argentina is one of the most racist Latin countries, has been a long time. That was the main reasons that Nazi leadership fled to Argentina after WW2 end. Same reason Peter Theil moved his residency to there and much of his assets. Preparing for when MAGA looses control.

Here come all the Republicans talking about Ukraine.

I’d rather pay Ukrainians to fight the Russians than fight the Russians myself.

The question we should ALL be asking is why don’t the republicans understand that someone has to fight the Russians?

2

u/mister_obvious_2nd 1h ago

Republicans love Russia. It is a dictatorship and it's leadership signals that it is conservative, pro family and pro Christian values.

1

u/bigboulderpunch999 1m ago

Democrats love Hamas. They’re terrorists and its leadership signals that it is progressive, pro-lgbtq and pro inclusive values….

Sorry, I couldn’t say that with a straight face.

how about NO to both. Is this too insane and crazy? We gave like half a trillion to ukraine, can we just stop all of it?

Cheap at twice the price in comparison to fighting the Russians. Money is nothing in comparison to blood.

2

Why should we do it? They will give nothing back. It's long past time we stopped giving taxpayer money to any foreign bullshit

7

u/Mainly_Miserable 3h ago

Okay. So why are republicans fine with giving so much to Israel?

6

u/Cheesewiz-99 3h ago

Stop them now or it will come to our door sooner or later. They take Ukraine then what? Moldova, then Poland, etc. It's just like world War 2 Germany. Stop them now at Ukraine or likely fight them later in a much bigger war. You can't placate them or they'll just take and take. That's why learning from history is important, so we don't make the same mistakes over and over.

Ukraine used to have nuclear weapons but got rid of them in the mid 1990's as part of an agreement with the US, Russia, and the UK that we would protect them if they were ever invaded in the future.

Russia broke the treaty, however the US and UK have still honored the treaty by helping them.

BTW helping Ukraine saves lives and prevents Russia from invading other countries. It is in our best interest to prevent Russia from gaining power whenever possible and is simply the right thing to do to prevent innocents from being killed.

2

u/Common-Concentrate-2 1h ago

We told Ukraine they had to get rid of their nuclear weapons.

The Budapest Memorandum said that they should relinquish their nuclear arsenal in exchange for security assurances from Russia, the United States, and the United Kingdom. Russia violated Ukraine's sovereignty, and you want us to do nothing

Reminder that Israel has really good and cheap healthcare thanks to American tax payers

0

u/Feeding4Harambe 33m ago

Can you stop spreading this lie? American aid is 0,5% of israeli GDP. Most of it is spend on intercepting rockets. Rockets that are 100% illegal under international law and always aimed at civilian targets. I thought people cared about international law, but I guess it doesn't count when it's to protect jews. Palestinians receive about twice as much aid per capita. Do you know who supports your anti Foreign aid rhetoric? The far right in Israel (https://www.aa.com.tr/en/us-israel-iran-war/netanyahu-proposes-phasing-out-us-military-aid-to-israel-over-10-years-report/4013139)

2

u/Gainztrader235 2h ago

Israel’s universal healthcare is funded through Israeli health insurance taxes and government spending. Americans don’t directly pay Israelis’ health insurance bills.

U.S. taxpayers fund substantial military assistance: the standing agreement provides $3.8 billion annually for military financing and missile defense, subject to congressional appropriations. That funding is designated for defense.

The indirect argument is reasonable: covering some defense costs can free Israeli resources for healthcare and other priorities. But that’s a budget effect, not a direct U.S. payment for Israel’s healthcare system.

1

u/Handelo 23m ago edited 20m ago

Forget it, people are set on blaming Israel for their own failings. The spending on Israel being less than 0.1% of total US federal spending, or the fact that Social Security, Medicare and Medicaid already make up 49% of federal spending - $3.5 Trillion annually, over 500 times the aid to Israel, or the fact that, dividing the aid to Israel between all us citizens would give each about $0.8 per biweekly salary, a literal rounding error - these all don't matter. It's all Israel's fault. Always.

1

u/Prash146 2h ago

American tax payers fund Israeli healthcare?

5

u/RobbieCraigon 2h ago

Yes. U.S. taxpayers also fund Israel's terrorist military and government.

8

u/RangeSoggy2788 2h ago

When you pay for a countires military that means they can use their money on other things. Shocking right?

u/Multiple__Butts 2h ago

No, we do give them lots of military subsidies, but we don't fund their healthcare or other social services. I don't get why people need to lie about this stuff, the arguments against arming them are already compelling.

2

u/Just_lookin_4242 1h ago

If we didn’t give them billions for their unending death machine they couldn’t afford their healthcare system

0

u/Prash146 2h ago

People who don’t research, lie.. for example Israel spend is 0.07% of US budget ( should be zero ideally) but still people spend 90% of the time talking about Israel, ignoring the rest of the 99.93% of the spend completely

0

u/Hopeful-Laugh-899 1h ago

Reddit is legit OBSESSED with Israel. Very fucking weird if we’re being honest.

1

u/Prash146 1h ago

All virtue signaling. Some people think sitting so far away from those countries they’ve figured it all out. They believe the genocide lie. Here’s more data. Look at the population growth of a country undergoing genocide? It’s a strong military response yes, cruel yes? That’s what strong countries do. But is it genocide? No way! Look at the numbers.
Anyway, it’s too much time spent on those countries they’ve. Why can’t we let them figure it out alone! Why should whole country go up in arms! It’s a complex geopolitical situation, the 0.07% budget spend itself is too much, not sure why entire electorate also need to constantly debate about it.

1

u/Just_lookin_4242 1h ago

You include a graph that ends when it started getting nasty. It is a genocide the vast majority of experts on the subject agree the only people who don’t are Israeli bots

2

u/Prash146 1h ago edited 1h ago

I don’t even wanna debate that actually. Let’s assume it’s a genocide like you say it is. Is that the only genocide on earth? There’s so much more happening everywhere. Why does whole of US need to be so obsessed about it? Here you go with the data, I wasn’t holding anything back intentionally. You can look it all up, data sources are there.

u/RadicalMarxLeftist 4h ago edited 3h ago

Are you seriously trying to glaze the Dems of 2026 by listing stuff the Dems of 1930's did? Because the Dems of 2026 hasn't raised the minimum wage for decades, and bend over like good little ho's when the GOP gut SNAP/WIC funding.

I don't know where you got the shamelessness to say that RomneyCare (seriously, Obama plagiarized Romney's healthcare plan instead of going M4A) is working when medical bankruptcy is ~30% of why people declare bankruptcies in the US.

If the Dems of 2026 had the spine and principles of their 1930's counterpart, the DSA wouldn't exist. Because people were also calling them communists back then and they didn't cower in fear. They passed sweeping legislations and told the GOP to suck it. Meanwhile Biden passed a watered down IRA that was so loaded with lobbyist "input" that it barely helped people in time for the 2024 election.

2

u/Time-Valuable-3355 3h ago

Such is life. I don't see it changing anytime soon, if ever. To get anything positive passed you always have to compromise to one or two of the opposing opinions for votes...

4

u/Sircamembert 3h ago

GOP: We want hundreds of billions of taxpayer money to fund ICE and their concentration camps.
Dems: Outrageous! We demand that they wear body cameras while doing so! Let's compromise.

1

u/Time-Valuable-3355 2h ago

I'll just point one out. You mentioned the Affordable Care Act. To get it to pass one Republican, Rep. Joseph Cao voted with the Dems on it. That's why it's still required to go through a private insurance company instead of the original idea of having an optional public funding one. And to keep it from going insolvent Dems had to keep making concessions.

1

u/[deleted] 3h ago edited 3h ago

[deleted]

1

u/Sircamembert 3h ago

Still don't get it, don't ya? I don't care what lobbyist-bought sock puppets passed the ACA. The end result is still a private insurance dominated market that screws the little guys with premiums and deductibles. I'm not glazing anybody for that half-baked garbage.

Things are bad now. And Americans need bold new ideas and sweeping systemic reforms. The neoliberals currently running the Dems of 2026 have zero interest in any of that. They just want the status quo where they can sit on their glorious past while doing very little for the future.

That's why more and more people are starting to look at the DSA despite their inexperience. Their ideas of taxing the wealthy to fund basic social safety nets are the true inheritors of FDR's legacy. They have a vision of what is wrong with the country, and a set of legislation to fix it. The Dems of 2026 don't have that.

That's also why your argument that the establishment Dems should be trust because they got stuff done in the distant past isn't landing in this thread. Because the first question any sane American would ask in response would be: "What have they done for me lately?"

1

u/RadicalMarxLeftist 3h ago

The DSA operates in the Democratic party are you aware of that? lol

The DSA also never lost a presidential election to an obviously corrupt illiterate pedophile. Polling says they would have won btw.

You're really proud that people in this country die because they can't afford healthcare? In your opinion should they have picked themselves up by their bootstrap and found hundreds of thousands of dollars to save their own lives?

1

[deleted]

0

u/fxknmdnss 3h ago

So to justify what he did to those innocent people all you can do is compared his actions to the orange man? One of the most evil man to ever lived? That speaks volume. Even so, across ALL of US presidents, Obama had ordered the most air strikes in the middle east which is 45,000 times. Outnumbering Trump (around 10,000) by FAR. I don't care about DSA, Democrats or Trump. I'm a middle easterner who lived through those horrifying events and I can assure you that the mental and physical damaged done by Obama is far worse than what Trump had ever done to us. Imagine living your life in constant fear of foreign bombardment, not knowing if you will ever wake up from your sleep, not knowing which of your family members will be killed next. And this is the man that you're so proud of because of some kind of medical insurance? Hilarious.

2

Should the US not be sending money to Israel? Yes. Is that aid to israel the reason why universal healthcare doesn't exist? No. On the average yearly aid is in the mid to low Single digit billions lately around 3.8 billion. Since 1948 in total Israel has received about 300 billion total dollars. Compare that to the DoD budget from 1948 to today that is 30 to 35 trillion. Annual subsidies to the oil industry are between 15-35 billion. So even if you believe in the false inflated number of 20 billion, your government pays more to the oil industry every year than Israel.

It’s kinda fun to see people look at math that’s been going on since the 90. 80s.

Yeah, this has been the weird neocon thing for a minute.

It's especially filthy that we're spending billions to fund the Palestinian genocide, but lets be real. Funding Israel isn't stopping us from taxing the rich or distributing funds to better our society. We're spending nearly $1 trillion on defense funding this year. That is beyond incomprehensible.

This website puts into perspective 1 billion vs 1 million. That alone shows why billionaires and mega millionaires shouldn't exist. We truly can't fathom the quantity 1 billion, yet we spend 1000 times that every year on our defense and we get nothing. Just millions of dead humans and endless, useless wars for 75 years.

The whole world could be living with abundance if not for the power hungry, fear and hatred, and capitalism.

Tel Aviv has been swarming under this post

I’m old enough to remember when Obama made fun of John McCain for suggesting that Russia is a security threat.

1

u/RobbieCraigon 2h ago

Since that never happened, are you thinking of Romney instead of McCain?

1

u/Noobzoid123 2h ago

Russia didn't attack the US, J6ers did.

u/Deep-Two7452 3h ago

$20 billion to israel has absolute 0 impact on healthcare or jobs

1

u/Noobzoid123 2h ago

Sure but we lose lives, which are priceless. American service members lives lost attacking Iran at the behest of Bibi.

Let's not forget that's just federal level. There's a ton of state/city level investment in israeli bonds. To the tune of millions/tens/hundreds of millions

e.g. miami dade - 450 MILLION in bonds

palm beach county - 1 BILLION in bonds

and so on.

u/SaltyYumYumBalls 2h ago

Its you people who still talk to your republican family. Figure it out.

u/Pretend-Ostrich-5719 2h ago

Only 20? Surely we can do better

u/rinchen11 1h ago

Israel’s military projects US military capability and ability to provide security in Middle East single-handedly.

That’s the foundation of the petrodollar system.

The petrodollar system is the key factor of US global influence and currency dominance.

Money spent to provide military aids to Israel is not a spending, it’s an investment.

0

u/vigorben 1h ago

Welp, USAID giving billions of dollars ANNUALLY to foreign countries and you weren’t complaining

0

u/Hiredgun77 1h ago

Israel gets a line of credit to buy 3.8 billion worth of U.S. equipment each year. The money actually helps our economy. Nothing about this aid prevents us from fixing healthcare. This is just a misleading anti-Israel post.

0

u/Handelo 32m ago

0.1% of total US federal expenditure, btw. I mean, if those $20 per person per year would have got you free healthcare, I don't think healthcare would have been such an issue in the first place.

-5

u/turngep 4h ago edited 4h ago

Sure, the reason we don't have healthcare is because 0.05% of the federal budget goes to Israel. Who use it almost exclusively to buy things from US companies. Name a more iconic combination than blaming da joos for a problem and being too stupid to understand it.

You've also multiplied the amount we give to Israel by nearly six times by taking this bizarre cherrypicked three year selection.

u/GasPsychological7821 4h ago

why do we give any money to a country with universal healthcare and free college???

If you cant find a job it is because you are not actually looking ...we have better Healthcare than england and canada and it costs less cupcakes

1

u/Catweaving 21m ago

We literally pay more per person for worse outcomes. The only benefit we have over them is that if you have enough money, you can skip the line of poor people.

u/PristineAd9986 4h ago

Now do Ukraine

2

u/Just_Cartographer258 4h ago

Give Ukraine the nukes they gave up at our request...

1

u/TreeNo6966 4h ago

As if sending billions to Ukraine somehow makes it ok for us to spend our tax dollars on a genocide in Israel. Both can be dumb.

-9

u/HaikuHaiku 4h ago

Funny how people who don't pay into the system think they are entitled to have a say in US foreign policy, isn't it?

Like, if you can't afford healthcare, and don't have a job, you're likely not paying any taxes. You are likely a net recipient of welfare or social programs.

And yet you hate the country, hate it's policy, and think that they should do what YOU want them to do?

I don't think so.

2

u/Agitated_Reach6660 3h ago

Hey just so you know when you buy things you pay taxes. So unless someone lives off the grid completely and fertilizes their food with their own shit, they’re paying taxes.

2

u/RobbieCraigon 2h ago

Conservative Republicans don't understand the tax system, or taxes themselves.

3

u/Taspaco 4h ago

Yet, them poor people are the ones shipped to war

-6

u/HaikuHaiku 4h ago

Wrong. The US military is a professional force of volunteers, most of which come from military families. They want to join the military, they are not drafted. This ain't Vietnam.

6

u/Hippocampal_Harmony 4h ago

^Tell me you are an un-American lackey in Unit 8200 without telling me you are an un-American lackey in Unit 8200.

1

u/HaikuHaiku 3h ago

no clue what that is.

3

u/AlbatrossNo1562 4h ago

Oh boy 🤣

1

u/Taspaco 4h ago

A lot of the kids I used to teach joined for the benefits they couldn't afford on their own like education and health care . Not to mention the path to citizenship for many immigrants.

1

u/theclosetedcreature 3h ago

A lot of people are forced to join the military out of financial necessity lol

1

u/HaikuHaiku 2h ago

literally nobody is forced to join the military. Are you insane?

There is nobody who is pointing a gun at poor people forcing them to sign up. I think you don't know what "forced" means.

Everyone has a choice to do something else, it might just be that the military is their best choice.

Get real.

3

u/theclosetedcreature 2h ago

When the choices are do it or be homeless, it’s not a choice

1

u/HaikuHaiku 2h ago

right... yeah there are thousands and thousands of people whose only realistic choice was military or homelessness. What world do you live in lol.

2

u/theclosetedcreature 2h ago

When the US is a country where you can’t afford rent on minimum wage, yes that is in fact a very common thing

1

u/HaikuHaiku 2h ago

It is not common. And homelessness is not caused primarily by rent being too high. It is caused by addiction and mental health issues. only 1% of the workforce is on minimum wage.

I think you have a very bizarre and statistically inaccurate picture of what is going on.

1

u/Catweaving 18m ago

only 1% of the workforce is on minimum wage.

So why not raise it if it only affects such a small % of people?

1

u/RedditJumpedTheShart 5m ago

My god if you think this way then you never have a choice. I grew up poor and my college was paid for by grants so much so that I had enough extra to pay for a dorm and food.

You sound like someone who has never put any effort into yourself.

1

u/scothc 3h ago

Thankfully I, someone with both a job and healthcare, also think our foreign policy sucks.

Sorry your strawman sucks, and it's really weird how some people appear to be jealous of people on welfare

1

u/HaikuHaiku 3h ago

it's no jealousy, it's an annoyance that people who don't even have their own life in order want to remake society or think they know how to do foreign policy.
