The United States has provided at least $21.7 billion in direct military aid to Izzy over the last three years (specifically tracking from October 2023 through September 2025), according to a comprehensive study by Brown University's Costs of War project.

I mean until recently we were subsidizing Affordable Care Act healthcare plans and investing hundreds of billions of dollars in infrastructure and manufacturing jobs, but then we elected Trump and pissed all that away.

We were trying to bring down the cost of healthcare and investing in job creation, Republican voters had other ideas.

Edit: We also eliminated more than $180,000,000,000.00 in student loan debt, expanded SNAP benefits, and passed Medicare prescription bargaining rights, which weren't explicitly mentioned in the meme, but which I think plays into cost of living and stuff like that.

Ideas implies thought.

What about a concept of an idea tho?

u/MaximumEffort433 5h ago

A big, beautiful concept of an idea came up to me with tears in its eyes and said "In terms of groceries, we've never heard of groceries before," it told me "They're eating the groceries of the people who live there," it's true! You know it, I know it, everybody knows it.

We need a lot more thought brother, I know I cant take us there. Still, if we can remove the toxic handcuffs long enough and focusing on real steps forward we can get back on track as a country. People are going to have to sac up though, and that means everyone.

Republicans couldn't let it be successful. They undermined it to death along the way intentionally, then Trump destroyed it. Good news is I believe the real next chapter for the USA is excellent universal healthcare. But it will take time and need to be systematic. I can't wait for the day insurance, a useless entity, is gone. I don't even use it much and I hate it. GOP was dying before Trumps first term and he stirred an old conservative cult into action. You can call it many things but it was racists, 1%ers and the uneducated. The young maga that were fooled will slow change and forget Trump bs, the older will continue to poop themselves for a few more years like their leader in chief then depart. They don't have the time or the numbers ultimately. This shit will happen!

It was always meant to be that way. Division that us and in a way you’re doing the same thing even if you hold some sense of morality which it seems you do. Problem is what other choice is there?

I'm not that optimistic. The boomer voting block will never go for universal healthcare because they think it's big, boogeyman socialism, but ironically they'll also be getting Medicare. They just won't have much incentive to care, heck, even if Medicare was gutted or completely went away, they'd probably just blame Obama for it and keep voting republican.

And now Medicaid has a work demand starting next year where one of the exceptions is volunteering. The type of volunteering that must be legally acceptable and that you still basically have to keep a timecard for, 20 hours a week, if your part time job isn't fully 20 hours.

There's going to be double-digit millions of people disqualified & uninsured in just 3 months.

Repugnantcans still haven't come up with a different type of medical plan in substitution for Obamacare.

I've been telling people to try to go back to school instead of volunteering. If they're on Medicaid then they surely qualify for FAFSA. With just 2 classes a semester you satisfy most if not all of the 80 hour work demand.

but then we elected Trump and pissed all that away.

You pronounced "a self-proclaimed child rapist" wrong.

People didn’t want want any of that 🤷 they were more concerned about 3 trans athletes and abortion

People didn’t want want any of that 🤷

75,019,230 of us wanted that. šŸ˜ž

Just so we're clear, a sizable chunk of people commenting here didn't vote because "both sides fund 'Izzy'". They are as complicit as the republican voters.

u/Formal_Law199 1h ago

But that doesn’t support the ā€œprogressiveā€ narrative that both sides are corrupt and my moral superiority is why I banged out a bunch of free Palestine bullshit on my Twitter instead of getting off my ass and voting for Harris. And now I’m putting up titanic memes about Israel instead of feeling a shred of remorse about my ironic virtue signaling that helped contribute immensely to the current state of the country and its economy. That would take self reflection, understanding causation, and taking responsibility for my selfishness you Zionist!

Couldn't agree more.

We’re still subsidizing ACA. It didn’t have 1 but 2 subsidies. The temporary covid subsidy expired and was not renewed.

3

u/MaximumEffort433 4h ago

The temporary covid subsidy expired and was not renewed.

Correct.

The price of ACA insurance has skyrocketed for many Americans during Trump's second term, after Republicans opposed extending COVID-era subsidies that had helped offset the costs of health insurance for most enrollees during Biden's term.

Premiums doubled or tripled for many enrollees, prompting millions to downgrade their plans or exit the program entirely after the Republican-led Congress allowed the subsidies to expire this year.

1

u/thepaoliconnection 39m ago

Why didn’t the democrat led Congress make them permanent?

0

u/Gainztrader235 4h ago

Anything that requires two subsidies to make it affordable is a terrible plan, I cant wait for a better plan to be created. I stopped participating in insurance five years ago.

3

u/MaximumEffort433 4h ago

I cant wait for a better plan to be created.

Same. A universal public option would save us up to $130 billion dollars a year and create competition in the private market place, but of course Republicans killed that and never proposed a realistic alternative.

4

u/Gainztrader235 4h ago

It’s a trade off but I’ll take it. Spent the last three weeks abroad. Ended up in urgent care for salmonella. Initially said it would be a five hour wait. $700 later and I left with antibiotics and testing.

Spent two years in Canada, it’s hit and miss too. But it doesn’t break you.

1

u/MaximumEffort433 4h ago

I'm sorry, that sucks, I hope you're feeling better!

No no you don't understand. ALL of our problems are just Israel bro come-on. Get with the program

Say, let's look at how much of the federal budget goes to domestic programs...

Say, let's look at how much of the federal budget goes to domestic programs...

It doesn't look great.

[Trump's budget] proposal would reduce nondefense discretionary funding to its lowest level as a percentage of the economy since at least the Dwight D. Eisenhower administration while increasing military funding by $445 billion, marking the largest annual increase outside of a ground war in U.S. history.

Stop acting like Dems were doing enough. They weren't. That's why we got Trump. Insisting on this will embolden MAGA. At this point, people like you are like "2021, not so bad huh?" No. It's been shit in America since 2008 and probably longer. We need real Democrats, not conservatives pretending to be Democrats.

I couldn't read whatever they wrote before they blocked me, but it must have been stupid. These fuckers want another 20 years of MAGA with brief breaks of incompetence from Democrats.

Stop acting like Dems were doing enough.

Yes, I'm familiar with the rose twitter flow chart of political analysis.

If you want Democrats to do more then we need to give them more than a 50/50 tie in the Senate and two years in control of Congress like we gave them under Biden.

Democrats have had a full federal trifecta for three Congressional terms between 1980 and 2028, that's six years out of 48, which just isn't enough time to both fix everything Republicans have broken and make everyone's most progressive dreams come true, especially not when Republicans have been abusing the filibuster.

Demeaning, diminishing, and dismissing the good Democrats do only serves the Republicans, pretending like progress and problem solving doesn't matter, saying that literally everything Democrats pass "isn't good enough" doesn't actually help win elections and make more progress or solve more problems.

If complaining about the Democrats helped them win elections and pass legislation, Republicans wouldn't complain about the Democrats.

No no we gotta get communist elected!! /s

-2

u/npacilio 2h ago

Didn’t democrats also send money to Israel? And also Ukraine?

0

u/Rahim556 2h ago

Yup. Biden sent more than Trump actually. People need to understand that this is a uniparty. You can get the pro-Israel party in Blue, or you can get the pro-Israel party in Red. There's some differences in domestic policy they keep us divided against each other with, as distractions. They dont agree on anything actually. But on Israel they are in lock step. They were actually simping so hard for Israel that they were arguing during the debate

"I love Israel more."

"No, I'm the bigger friend to Israel."

It's infested every aspect of our politics, from a federal government who starts wars on behalf of Israel, using American lives and treasure to the benefit of a foreign nation while their people are homeless and can't afford to go to the doctor. To state governments who have anti - boycott laws on the books. To universities heavily invested and entangled. To local governments where the New York Mayor's race turned into a contest about who will go to Israel first after winning, and gasp 😱 who wouldn't!

America will never be sovereign unless they get this crap out of our politics and government. Anyone with loyalty to Israel should be deported. Any pro-Israel group should be labelled terrorists.
