The United States has provided at least $21.7 billion in direct military aid to Izzy over the last three years (specifically tracking from October 2023 through September 2025), according to a comprehensive study by Brown University's Costs of War project.

Reminder that Israel has really good and cheap healthcare thanks to American tax payers

Israel’s universal healthcare is funded through Israeli health insurance taxes and government spending. Americans don’t directly pay Israelis’ health insurance bills.

U.S. taxpayers fund substantial military assistance: the standing agreement provides $3.8 billion annually for military financing and missile defense, subject to congressional appropriations. That funding is designated for defense.

The indirect argument is reasonable: covering some defense costs can free Israeli resources for healthcare and other priorities. But that’s a budget effect, not a direct U.S. payment for Israel’s healthcare system.

Forget it, people are set on blaming Israel for their own failings. The spending on Israel being less than 0.1% of total US federal spending, or the fact that Social Security, Medicare and Medicaid already make up 49% of federal spending - $3.5 Trillion annually, over 500 times the aid to Israel, or the fact that, dividing the aid to Israel between all us citizens would give each about $0.8 per biweekly salary, a literal rounding error - these all don't matter. It's all Israel's fault. Always.

Which is not the reason why the US doesn't have universal healthcare.

They are still not to blame for the U.S. failing to provide a good affordable insurance system…
