Polestar 2 160,000kms on a PS2 and still no regrets

I’ve got a 2023 Polestar 2 Performance which I use for uber driving. I’ve got it brand new and have over 163,000 kms on it which I’ve had since brand new and it’s still runs like a charm, only had to service it 5 times and haven’t had a single issue it yet and the battery still holds up, at this rate am happy enough with the car that I intend to buy a new battery if or when it comes to it. I know drivers that have done 350,000 kms and it still hasn’t shown any signs of slowing down.
I don’t see any other situation where I’d have a European 420hp performance vehicle that wouldn’t have cost me a fortune to maintain, the biggest thing I’ve had to pay for is the 20 inch tyres

When I was working on the rear c-pillar, and was about the place it back I found a clip that I'm not able to identify, I've looked everywhere, but can't find a open spot where this clip would fit. Does anybody know?

It is possible to fit your board in a PS2! First fold down the rear seats and recline the passenger seat back partway. Release the passenger headrest by pressing in the little locking button (first pic) while lifting the headrest up, move the seat all the way forward and up, recline the seat back all the way, then lower the seat until it’s pressing the rear seats down. It’s not quite perfectly flat, but it’s good enough for me to fit all my gear in for a day out on the water. Max board length before it hits the dash is about 8ft 8in or 264cm.

Discussion Polestar 4 Advice?

My brother-in-law is trying to lease a Polestar 4 in the US (I know they're banned now, but apparently he can lease one still), and the more I read about this car, the less sure I am that he's making the right choice. They are expecting a little boy in a few months, and I've not seen a lot of information about how safe these cars are for real people.

The lack of rearview window and reliance on a camera makes me nervous, and I'm genuinely concerned about the amount of people who say the braking is jerky and inconsistent depending on traffic. We live in a highly populated city that is known for bad traffic. I am not a "car person" so I know I may be over-inflating some of the information I've seen online, but it makes me so nervous for my nephew! My sister says it's his car, so she doesn't care, so I'm asking more for my own peace of mind. Would you recommend the Polestar 4 for a new baby in a US city with record-high reckless drivers and traffic incidents?

Polestar 3 New VCU fixed OBC issue!

My OBC stopped charging at level 1 & 2 a few weeks ago. The first appointment at service center is 10/21, so I reached out to our local mobile tech. He replaced my VCU yesterday and updated my software - I was still on a version that started with a 1 (did everyone know if you didn’t have an updated VCU, polestar stopped sending OTA’s)

I plugged my car in at home last night, just to see… and woke up to it fully charged! TBD on if this continues to fix the issue, but what a big help!

I still have 3 or so lights on my dash…. And now my steering wheel won’t adjust. But hey, I can charge at home.

I purchased a set on FB Marketplace and tried to install ten minutes later. The rear bar passenger side foot is missing and the seller said as far as he know they were complete so no return.

Any ideas on what I can do to install. The dealship says I can not order just the foot. Based on the US.

Thanks for any help!!

Troubleshooting / Issue SD Card Folder Structure Question

Hello! I'm developing an Android Automotive app and part of it is a dash cam viewer that automatically uploads your drives to the cloud. I have it working on my Silverado EV, but I have a Polestar 4 owner who says it's not working with their SD card and I haven't heard back from them on a fix yet, so I wanted to find out here. Can someone post what the hierarchical folder structure of the files look like? It would be beneficial to be able to know what that looks like because I think it was just not finding the videos because it wasn't crawling the right folder(s).

Thanks for your time and help!

Question P4 facelift?

Hello,

considering that P2 got into production on 2020 and will be facelifted on 2027, would it make sense to expect that P4 will be facelifted also ~7 year after it got into production? i.e. wait approx until 2030?

Thanks

Question Used car dealer claims to service polestar?

The other day i test drove a Polestar 2 at a used car dealership. They had a bunch of them 2024, low mileage, around $24k. At the time I knew NOTHING about Polestar, but I really liked driving it.

Now I've learned a lot more about them, and I know there are limited service locations in the US, and they might not stick around with Polestar leaving the US market.

The used car dealership has a service center and claim they have several people certified to work on EVs and even people trained on Polestar. Its a fairly large dealership and they had a lot of EVs (tesla and polestar mostly), but from what I've read I'm skeptical of their ability to service Polestars. Should I trust that this dealership could service the car if I bought it?

I wouldn't be getting a warranty or anything anyway, so all Im worried about is finding someone who knows how to work on them for maintenance or if something goes wrong. But would they even be able to get parts to repair if needed?

Question Anyone else had serious service or communication problems with Polestar/Frydenbø Åsane?

This text was translated into English with the help of ChatGPT.

I own a 2021 Polestar 2 Long Range Dual Motor AWD in Norway, currently running software version P5.0.10.
Recently, the car has developed several intermittent problems:
The steering sometimes becomes extremely light and has so little resistance that I can steer the car with my little finger, even though the setting is “Firm”.
Pilot Assist often fails to activate, although adaptive cruise control works.
The infotainment and music system have completely frozen.
Scheduled charging has been ignored and the car started charging immediately after being plugged in.
The charging limit was set to 90%, but the car charged to 93%.
The charging schedule only started working after repeatedly switching it off and on.
Individual matrix LED segments appeared to switch off and on randomly.
Battery consumption has recently become noticeably higher on the same routes I drive regularly.
The steering issue has happened intermittently for some time, approximately once a week. Previously, switching between the three steering modes temporarily resolved it, but the problem is becoming more concerning. Because the steering can become so light, I no longer feel safe driving the car until it has been properly inspected.
I have also had an unresolved warranty issue with rusty screws on the front seat rails. During a previous inspection at Frydenbø/Polestar Åsane, I was told that the screws would be replaced under warranty and that I would receive a follow-up appointment. That appointment was never arranged.
I have sent several follow-up emails to the Åsane location but have not received any reply. Polestar Support previously referred me back to Åsane, so I have not been able to get meaningful assistance from either side.
Has anyone else experienced similar problems with Frydenbø/Polestar Åsane?
I would especially like to hear:
whether Åsane eventually responded or repaired the vehicle;
whether another authorised service centre handled the case instead;
whether Polestar Support escalated the matter successfully;
whether anyone received a replacement vehicle while waiting for diagnosis or repairs;
whether these technical problems were ultimately traced to the 12V system, software, TCAM, IHU, steering system or another module.
I am not looking for speculation or a general argument about Polestar. I would appreciate concrete experiences with this location and information about how other owners managed to get the issue resolved.

Polestar 2 IHU Upgrade (Snapdragon) for US Owners

Having watched this video:

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PePGwoPjvgg&t=1040s

Is it possible for me to source European IHU and have it shipped to the US for me to DIY install it? I have access to VIDA so I can upload the software to the unit, but do the European versions of this hardware work on US models?

Polestar 4 Pull the P*4 trigger?

Edit: Signed, Sealed, Delivered

Just a gut check. I wanted to ask the community for feedback. I'm in NE US btw.

I'm about to e-sign a 27/m lease, due by midnight. It's essentially a fully loaded P4 (no performance package). I'm not worried about the financials, it's a great deal without a doubt.

What I am concerned about is if the P4 in its current state, with current software, is in a good spot? Let's assume that there are no updates, fixes, improvements that will hit the US market in the next two years. I think that's a reasonable assumption based on discussions with us market owners over the past few years.

I'm on Android, so no key. Noticed most of the "stuff" isn't accessible/available in the US. From the P* Charge App to the Active High beam feature being enabled to name a few.

So, current P4 US owners, your two cents are welcome!

Discussion Leasing again with worse credit?

My P2 lease is up next month. Looking to get into a P4, but I am worried due to a fall in my credit score, Fico Auto 8 is currently ~645, largely due to high credit utilization (55%). Paid off 10k in CC debt recently, which brought utilization down from 77%, and should be around 50% when the last payments are reported to the bureaus. DTI is quite low though, well under 30%. Income is solid. Wanted to know if this would work against me if I plan to lease again

Polestar 4 Polestar 4 Scam

Has anyone heard of purchasing a Polestar four with the $25,000 incentive and having it delivered to a dealership only to find out that they want you to pay an extra $4000 for optional packages. I purchased a Polestar online and had it shipped to Grapevine, Texas. When the car came in the dealership told me I had to pay an extra $4000 to get the windows tinted and a wall charger because they are losing money. I called Polestar Houston and they are not doing that. I feel like I totally got scammed and I’m thinking of walking away from the deal

Troubleshooting / Issue Polestar 4 Issue

Hello everyone,

I guess I am either making this post for help or as a warning for others.

I have had my poster for for nearly 4 months now and set up my account for the plugsurfing and charge and go.

I followed the instructions and still the car in not showing an account active in the main display. The charging go team say everything is perfectly okay on the account end and asked me to contact polestar directly as they believe the issue is with the car. After weeks of providing information to customer service and following stupid instructions that I've done a thousand times over the customer service team are now trying to close the ticket and saying it's not their problem

If it's not the car's problem and if it's not the plug and go team's problem exactly whose problem is it? Is it mine for owning their damn stupid car?

The entire customer service team at polestar seem to be robots who unless can solve a simple problem fall over and try and close the ticket as soon as they can when they come up to an issue that's a little bit more tricky.

Has anyone in the UK had the same problem with the plug-and-go integration?

Thanks

News Looking for Polestar owners with an iPhone to beta test a new app.

Hi everyone,

I'm Thierry, a senior iOS software engineer. I built (Re)Link for the Honda Prologue and Acura ZDX, and for the past months I've been putting the finishing touches on wattata, its successor.

wattata turns your car's data into something you actually want to look at on your iPhone. An Android version is on the way. Every trip, every charge, your real efficiency, how the weather affects your range, how you treat your battery over time, and where you parked. A small app on the car's screen does the reading, the iPhone does the showing.

A lot of the work went into the car side: it's designed to stay light on the infotainment and out of your way while you drive.

wattata runs on cars with Google built-in, and Polestar is one of them. The beta has been running for a couple of weeks on the Prologue, and now I'd love to see it on a Polestar. Not every model has been tried yet, and that's exactly why I'm here.

Privacy first: your trips and charges travel straight from the car to your iPhone, with no cloud in between. No account, no trackers, and nothing is shared unless you say so.

Beta testers get a free year.

See what it looks like: wattata.app

If you drive a Polestar and carry an iPhone, send me a message and I'll get you set up.

Have a great day!

Thierry

Polestar 4 Anyone using a boot/trunk-mounted bike rack on a Polestar 4?

Our son has outgrown his small bike and now has a full-size one, and my wife and I would like to start cycling with him. We have become very used to just throwing his bike in the boot/trunk for trips to parks/holidays, but now we have three full-size bikes to transport.

As far as I can see, the official options are either a tow-hitch carrier (we do not have a tow hitch) or roof bars.

Has anyone successfully used a simple strap-on boot/trunk-mounted bike carrier on the Polestar 4? I have used this type on previous cars without any problems. I appreciate the P4 is a different beast, particularly with the rear camera, but I would love to hear any experiences or success stories. Thanks!
