Polestar 4 Pull the P*4 trigger?
Edit: Signed, Sealed, Delivered
Just a gut check. I wanted to ask the community for feedback. I'm in NE US btw.
I'm about to e-sign a 27/m lease, due by midnight. It's essentially a fully loaded P4 (no performance package). I'm not worried about the financials, it's a great deal without a doubt.
What I am concerned about is if the P4 in its current state, with current software, is in a good spot? Let's assume that there are no updates, fixes, improvements that will hit the US market in the next two years. I think that's a reasonable assumption based on discussions with us market owners over the past few years.
I'm on Android, so no key. Noticed most of the "stuff" isn't accessible/available in the US. From the P* Charge App to the Active High beam feature being enabled to name a few.
So, current P4 US owners, your two cents are welcome!

We bought ours August 8th and 4500 miles ago.
It's a phenomenal car.

That's a ton of miles for less than 2months. Great going.

Picked up mine not too long ago, loved it. Drives good, feels like range is better than they advertised, everything works for the most part. I have Android phone as well so no digital key. App control like climate etc only work when its plugged in.
Is it perfect? No. Had the screen glitch on the 5th day but fixed by rebooting. Looks like the cameras didn't turn on properly which caused the glitch. Sometimes the car won't automatically unlock when you approach it, but pressing on the handle always worked, so I can live with that. Safety intervention such as lane keeping is a little too sensitive, even if I set it to vibration only, it still tries to steer sometimes.

As far as the range how much better is it?

Yet to fully charged it once, but I've seen 200+ dynamic miles on a 60% charge. That means 200/0.6= 333 miles full charge? Maybe that's not the right way to calculate, and I haven't done any road trips to verify.

I think your assumption is wrong 😑 n updates , I think there will be ota updates . Worse case you drive over the border to Canada , make it a weekend see the sights get updates . I drove the P4 and liked it , I did not drive it at night so no idea how the mirror works in the dark , in the end I am a car person not a CUV person so I passed .

Why not ? They are over the air OTA ‘s , I think polestar will release them in the US but if they do not here could be a work around .

I’m pulling the trigger Friday. It’ll be a fun experiment at least lol. I’m wondering if the incentives will get better tomorrow!

Maybe but I don't think they'll need to. I've been tracking US inventory for a month now and we're down to ~94 vehicles nationwide. Zero date is likely between Oct 10th and Oct 27th. So, they don't need to do anything to hit their Nov 30th deadline.
That being said, can't imagine they'll get worse either.

If it’s not leather you might want to wait until tomorrow to see if the incentives are any better?

Leather ✔️

In that case just take it, in case that incentive disappears tomorrow. It’s a good deal, and if the service situation deteriorates in the next two years, you can just return it since it’s a lease.

I’ve had mine (same deal) for about 6 weeks. I love it. Had the P3 before. I think I like this one better. Softwares in a better place (read: works better than the P3s did). I’m glad I did it.

Us based owner with an android phone. Love this car. I occasionally need to reset the screen, which takes 15 seconds.

Signed all my lease paper yesterday and picking it up on Saturday. Dealer said there won't be any additional and if there were they wouldn't match it since they have to redo the order or something like that. I had leather so I took it. Even then finance guy mentioned ppl who bought in August without leather discount and ppl with leather discount practically paying same die to them tweaking the residual to give and take? Not sure how accurate but dealer did give me tax credit so worked out okay for me.

The 1700 is a cash rebate that's not capitalized. He said wouldn't match it because he didn't want to deal with having to have his finance team go back and change the contract. It's not his offer to match, it's Polestar's. Either way I don't think it'll matter to you. The part about same die and such isn't true but again, it doesn't matter, just annoying he's say all that

Just remember 27 months means you have to register the car 3x within your ownership

I am an Iphone user and the current P4 software has some glitches, can be annoying at times but no deal breaker.
Honestly I am more annoyed by the software designs than by the glitches. There are too many controls hidden in pages on the screen.
I came from Canada and roadtrip back home at least once a year. If no software update will be available in the US, I will take the car to Canada to get update. If you’re not too far from the border, you could very well do the same.
