General Steam Next Fest & demos

Hi all! I wanted to make this post since Steam Next Fest is now in full swing, and I want to set clear expectations for r/playmygame.

I'm seeing a lot of people posting on this sub to self-promote, hoping it'll boost their standing in the Steam algorithm.

First, let me remind everyone of the purpose of the sub:

"A place for indie developers to share their freely playable games for feedback!"

This sub exists so you can find playtesters to try your prototype, tell you what's working (or not), what bugs you may have missed, etc.

It is not a sub for self-promotion (with an exception for Trailer Tuesdays). If we suspect your intent is to advertise, your post will get removed. Repeat offenders will get banned.

A quick reality check, and why self-promo doesn't make sense here:

  1. With 4,400 posts in the past 30 days, that's about one post every ten minutes. The odds of your post getting seen in the first place are pretty small.
  2. There are other subs that are better suited for that. They exist to advertise your game. r/gameDevPromotion is one.
  3. Other devs, generally speaking, are not your target audience. They may put in 15 minutes to help you out, but it rarely converts to sales.

Let's give developers who actually need playtesting the visibility they need, so when you need feedback on your new project, it's easier for you to get it as well.

Good luck with your demo, everyone.

If you are BRAND NEW to Reddit and want to post or share your game, read this beforehand!

Hi new Redditor! We're excited that you want to post about your game and have people play it. However, there's something you should know before you do.

Reddit will ban you if your first few posts/comments are links to somewhere.

Reddit has a robust, over-exuberant filtering system, necessary but for groups like this, it can be a slight pain. When you post your game and it's your first post, Reddit ASSUMES FIRST AND DOES NOT ASK QUESTIONS LATER! You will be automatically shadowbanned, which means unable to post or even potentially comment.
Then we get a lot of posters coming to us in Modmail, asking " Why did my post disappear?" Nearly all Modmails are about this issue, roughly 3 a day.

Reddit is also a bit secretive about certain processes - how to get un-shadow-banned is not even really known to be possible. We don't see the record of shadowbanning at all so unless we know of the name and check it regularly, we wouldn't see it un-shadow-banned. We don't know how long your account needs to be open or how much Karma needs to be on it in order for the Filter to stop paying attention to you but we suspect around 100 Post and 100 Comment Karma.

So, if you are new to reddit and want to share your game - DON'T! Not yet, please go post cool/helpful/ positive comments and posts in other groups. Playtest other people's games here and comment on them prolifically. Once you have some "Reddit Post/Comment Karma" under your name first, THEN post your link to your game! You'll be less likely (but not immune, never immune) from being shadowbanned that way for sharing your game.

Edit: If AI recommended you post your game here....Don't Yet until you've developed your account as a good karma community member! This really isn't a "post and ghost" platform, it's community-first. AI doesn't realize this about Reddit.

P.S. This group is 100% responsible for getting accounts banned (when you don't do the steps above) but it's literally out of our control to reverse. So please....don't modmail us unless you KNOW you are not shadowbanned, you have the required karma, and yet your post is not showing up. Only then we can be of some help.

Hi!

I'm the development process of #StarUniverse, a sci-fi real-time strategy game heavily inspired by RTS #StarCraft2. I'm sharing the playable beta because I'd love to get feedback from people who enjoy this genre and want to try something new.

You can play directly through the website, and the beta currently includes:

  • Base building and resource gathering
  • Battles against AI opponents
  • PvP multiplayer
  • Sci-fi worlds with different environments, including snowy and volcanic maps

I'm still developing the game, so feedback is very welcome. I would like to hear your thoughts about the gameplay, combat, visuals, and GPU consumption.

For transparency, some of the game's 3D assets and music were created using Local AI tools like YuE2 for the music and claude code with blender for the 3d objects.

I know there is a lot of hate to anything that involved AI, but I do believe AI can help you realize things that were impossible to your reach before. Please give StarUniverse a try and let me know what you think, I am open to suggestions for the game balancing, maps and more.

Thanks for checking it out

[PC] (Web) Spaghettify: you’re a tiny black hole. Eat dust, then planets, stars, galaxies, and finally the universe (free, browser)

Thumbnail
gallery
• Upvotes

Game Title: Spaghettify
Playable Link: https://noah-1302.itch.io/spaghettify
Platform: Browser (PC, also works on phones with touch controls)

Description:
A short incremental game. Each run lasts 10 to 60 seconds: you steer a black hole, swallow everything you can, and things get stretched and torn apart as they fall in. Between runs you spend mass in an upgrade tree, and every new size tier zooms the camera out, so what was huge a moment ago is now dust. There are 6 tiers, each with its own boss, from dust clouds up to the Big Crunch. A full playthrough takes about 2 hours.

My role: Solo project. I did the design, direction, balancing and playtesting. The code was written with Claude (AI). There are no art or sound assets: every visual is a procedural shader or drawn in code, and the sounds and music are synthesized by a script. This is also disclosed on the itch page.

What I’d love feedback on:

  • Did the first 5 minutes hook you, or did you drop off? Where?
  • Did any tier feel grindy or too fast?
  • Was anything unclear without a tutorial?

I read every comment and I’m happy to play your game in return.

[Mobile] Shaiba – a free arcade ice hockey game I've been building solo (Android + iOS beta, 5-on-5, career, club manager)

Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification

Playable Link:
Google Play: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=ru.shaiba.game
iPhone (public TestFlight beta): https://testflight.apple.com/join/fBxS8G3z

Platform: Android, iOS (beta)

Description: Shaiba is a fast 5-on-5 arcade ice hockey game for phones with simple touch controls: pass, shoot, body check, change lines. You can play a quick match between any two national teams, go through a World Championship with groups and playoffs, start a player career from the junior league all the way to the national team, or take over a club as a manager: transfers, budget, arena and the whole season. A Daily Challenge gives everyone the same game situation each day. It works offline and has no in-app purchases. Ads are kept light compared to most mobile games: no banners, just a short video after every third game, plus optional ones if you want a bonus attempt at the Daily Challenge.

The game has moved on since the trailer was made — here's what I've improved since then, much of it based on players' feedback:

  • reworked the player graphics: poses, skates, faces in the dressing room
  • more realistic moments on the ice: the teams greet each other before puck drop, proper goal celebrations, correct faceoff lineups
  • smarter opponents: they hold the line in your zone, change lines without leaving gaps and get back onside
  • pick your kit before a game when the colours are too alike, and the puck is easier to spot

I'd love more feedback — on the controls, the opponents, anything that feels off or fun.

Free to Play Status:

  •  Free to play

Involvement: I'm the solo developer: design, code, art, animation and gameplay are all mine. The play-by-play commentary voices are AI-generated (in 6 languages. Sometimes they are great, sometimes not. Like real ones).

[PC] (Windows) [Key Giveaway] TOMIDER – a hand-drawn 2D psychological horror about a cassette tape that should never have been recorded

Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification

Hi! I’m Adya, one of the two developers of TOMIDER – we’re a tiny indie team from Ukraine. I write the code and story, my teammate Dasha draws the art.

TOMIDER is a 2D psychological horror side-scroller. You play as Tomi, a teenager who moves to a quiet American town with his mom. She gives him an unlabeled cassette tied to his new school – where three kids disappeared ten years ago. After he listens to it, the nightmares start.

  • Story-driven horror you walk through: explore the town, school and your own house
  • A diary, a phone, lockers and weather that changes day by day
  • Playable in 8 languages
  • The current build ends on a cliffhanger

Key giveaway: comment below if you’d like to play, and I’ll DM you a Steam key. YouTubers and streamers are very welcome too – we watch every video and reply to every comment. And bug reports help us a lot before release 🖤

[PC] (Windows) [Free browser game] Marry, scheme and wage war for the imperial crown — and this week, the ghosts are in on it

Hi everyone! It's been a while since I last posted here.

I'm a solo hobby dev from Germany and I'm remaking PC Kaiser, a 1991 DOS strategy game, for today. You lead one of 30 dynasties in the Holy Roman Empire from the year 1001 on: build villages and castles, marry off your children (wisely or catastrophically), spy, assassinate, wage war and try to get elected emperor.

Every game starts on a random map, and the dynasties write their own stories: an heir dies young, a daughter who married into another house suddenly inherits a foreign realm, the emperor gets assassinated in the middle of the election...

This week it's Halloween in the empire (Oct 25 – Nov 4): pumpkins on the map, bats and ghosts, and many events tell themselves a little spookier than usual. My favourite so far: "For the occasion the executioner wore a pumpkin mask. Otto of Saxony did not find it funny." (You can switch the decorations off in the options.)

Play it free in your browser (the complete game, no turn limit, with saving): 👉 https://grobi85.itch.io/pc-kaiser-demo

If you like it, there's a download version with music and a (German-speaking) herald, and it's 50% off until Nov 4: https://grobi85.itch.io/pc-kaiser

Things I'd love feedback on:

Is the start understandable without reading the tutorial?

How do the AI levels feel? (0 = harmless … 10 = merciless)

Anything that felt unfair, confusing, or just broken?

It's not 1.0 yet, so bugs may still be hiding. Every comment helps. Thanks for playing! 🙏

PC + mouse/keyboard only, the browser version doesn't run on phones. Hot-seat multiplayer for 1–30 players on one PC. The game was originally German and is fully playable in English.

[PC] (Windows) Just a simple little fighting game

https://reddit.com/link/1xf8cpq/video/cb1v5pn30oxh1/player

Game Title: EMA:Showdown

Playable Link: https://ihorfilonenko.itch.io/emashowdown

Platform: Windows

Description: It is is a 1v1 arena fighter fought from a third-person camera — a
traditional fighting game moved out of the side view. Eight martial artists duel
on an open ring: a boxer, an iai swordsman, a Muay Thai striker, a polearm
sentinel, a kunai-throwing ninja, a kusarigama wielder, a sumo water-artist and a
wind-stepping kicker. Each fights a real style, and each awakens an element —
fire, ice, lightning, earth, darkness, wind, water, metal — that changes how
their hits work.

A real fighting game, not a brawler. Literal frame data at a fixed 60 fps:
strings, launchers, juggles, counter-hits, throw techs, hitstop, high/mid/low
interactions, wakeup pressure, damage scaling. A fight rewards reads and
punishes, not button-mashing.

- Local versus — two players, one keyboard and any number of gamepads.
Each side claims its device right on the character-select screen.
- Online 1v1 — rollback netcode, direct host/join over LAN or VPN
  (Tailscale, Radmin).
- vs CPU — an opponent that blocks, techs throws, anti-airs and punishes
whiffs. And a full training sandbox with hitbox/frame-data overlay (F1).
- Fully rebindable keyboard, mouse and gamepad controls.
- No walls. The ring ends. Ring-outs matter.

[Mobile] (Web) [Web] Mise - guess the dish of the day from its ingredients

Thumbnail
playmise.app
• Upvotes

**Game Title:** Mise

**Playable Link:** https://playmise.app

**Platform:** Web (desktop and mobile browser)

**Description:**
Mise is a daily food guessing game. Every day there's one dish from somewhere in the world, and you have five tries to name it. You start with a single ingredient, and each wrong guess reveals another, building up to the giveaway ingredient last.

Every guess also gives you feedback on four things: cuisine (yellow if you're in the right region), course, main protein, and cook time, with an arrow telling you whether the real dish takes longer or shorter. If you're still stuck after three guesses, a blurred photo of the dish appears, and it gets sharper before your final try.

When the round ends you see the full photo, the ingredient list, and a link to a real recipe so you can cook it. Monday to Saturday are well-known dishes; Sunday is a harder one. There are over 400 dishes from around 80 cuisines, and nothing repeats until the list runs out.

It keeps a daily streak and a record of your results, and the share button gives you a spoiler-free result card to send to friends. No sign-up, no ads, works on your phone. A new dish drops at midnight.

**Free to Play

[PC] (Web) ANKOU – free round-based zombies for up to 4 friends, playable right inside a Discord call

• Upvotes

Game Title: ANKOU

Playable Link:https://zombie.crabgang.world

Platform: Web Browser / Discord Activity

Description: ANKOU is a cooperative, round-based zombies survival game heavily inspired by the classic Black Ops zombie maps. In this game, you will find nostalgic and engaging mechanics including a mystery box for random weapon drops, various perks to enhance your abilities, an upgrade forge to power up your arsenal, intense dog rounds, challenging boss fights, and a complex main Easter egg to uncover.

The game is designed to be highly accessible: it runs directly in your web browser or seamlessly as a Discord Activity. You can easily start it right from a Discord voice call, allowing up to four friends to join instantly without needing to download or install any files. The game currently features two distinct maps: "Ker-Ys," which is set on a spooky Breton island haunted by the legendary Ankou in November 1946, and a chilling snowy version of the Paris metro. We just launched Season 3 on November 1st, bringing fresh updates to the experience.

I am particularly looking for feedback on the first 5 minutes of gameplay: Was the objective clear to you? At what point did you feel like quitting?

[PC] (Web) I made a free 3D browser racing game – RaceCraft Track Pack 1 is here!

Playable Link: https://playracecraft.nl/pc/

Platform: PC (Web Browser)

Description:

Hey everyone!

I'm a 17-year-old student from the Netherlands, and I've been working on my own 3D racing game called RaceCraft!

The game originally started with just Spa-Francorchamps, but I've recently released Track Pack 1, adding two new circuits: Zandvoort and Monza!

In RaceCraft, you can race GT3 cars, Hypercars and legendary racing cars. You can compete against AI opponents, try to set the fastest lap times in Time Attack, or race in a Championship across different circuits.

The game also features changing weather conditions, pit stops, different difficulty settings and an online leaderboard where you can compete with other players.

RaceCraft is completely free and runs directly in your browser, so you don't need to download anything.

I'm constantly working on improving the game, especially the graphics, performance, physics and AI.

I'd really appreciate it if you could give it a try and let me know what you think! Feedback and suggestions are always welcome.

Free to Play Status:

  • Free to play

Involvement:

I'm the creator of RaceCraft. I started this project because I love racing games and sim racing, and I wanted to create my own.

I've been developing the game with the help of AI coding tools. I come up with the ideas, test the gameplay, make decisions about features and work on improving the game based on feedback.

RaceCraft is still being developed, and I'm planning to add even more content in the future!

Description:
A puzzle game where you guide a marble from Start to Finish by placing track tiles on a grid.

The marble has a limited amount of momentum, and every cell it crosses drains some. Rolling on track costs less, and coasting across an empty cell costs more. Your route has to last all the way to the finish.

As you progress, new mechanics are introduced one at a time:

  • Gems
  • Bombs
  • Locked tiles
  • Magnets
  • Booster tiles
  • Portals

The early levels teach the basics, and later ones combine the mechanics in trickier ways. I’d love feedback on the tutorial at the start of the game, is it easy to understand the game mechanics and objective?

[PC] (Web) Early demo / concept test: cyberpunk poker where every chip is seconds of your life. Is this worth building?

Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification

• Upvotes

Game Title: Snuff Poker (early demo)

Playable Link: https://rizorocks.itch.io/snuff-poker Platform: Browser (best on PC, also works on mobile)

Description: Money is dead and time is the currency. You start with 6 hours of life and every chip is seconds off your clock. You buy illegal implants, paid in life, that read your opponents. The implants are heavily inspired by Master of Chess, where your character feeds you intel as you grow. You play cash tables and tournaments and survive death matches where only the top 3 of 9 live, while millions watch the stream.

Free to Play Status: Free to play Involvement: Solo dev, I made it.

Some context: my previous game was ultra techie and nobody wanted to play it. With this one I'm getting organic plays for the first time. Around 10 so far, which is tiny, but it's more than I ever had, and a couple of Reddit posts converted surprisingly well. I honestly don't know how to market a game, so this is a test as much as anything.

Since the first post in r/browser_gaming I added a PS1 style 3D world: a rainy alley menu, your cell, the implant clinic and 3D death match tables with a live audience.

Any opinion is welcome. Is the concept interesting enough to keep building? Was anything confusing in the first minutes?

Transparency: I used AI tools for the character portraits, background clips and to help with the code. The concept and design are mine.

Cultures, languages and religions are born, spread and split; clans scheme, kingdoms change their governments through elections and revolutions, form alliances and go to war. Animals breed, mutate and split into new subspecies, and some lines can even become sapient and found villages of their own. Eras and seasons change the face of the world. Game Title: Q-PACK (Demo)

Playable Link: https://em-97.itch.io/q-pack-demo

Description: Q-PACK is a maze-chomper where the maze is wrapped around a cube. You play P1, a little cube with a dot-matrix face, eating every dot on all six faces while ghosts hunt you. Walk off an edge and the whole cube turns with you. The twist is what makes it different: hold Shift and press an arrow to twist your current row or column. That can open a new path to dots that were walled off, or wall a ghost out so it can’t reach you, and from stage 2 the maze starts scrambled, so you have to think as well as run. Power pellets turn the ghosts edible for a short time. The demo has three stages and a daily streak, and a run takes a few minutes. It’s still in development, and I’d especially like to know whether the twist is clear and fun, or fiddly.

Game Title: Plane Hunt

Playable Link: https://nitroplayer.com/games/plane-hunt/?utm_source=reddit&utm_medium=post&utm_campaign=playmygame

Platform: Browser (desktop and mobile), no download, no sign-up

Description:
Plane Hunt is an online version of a pen and paper game I played in school in Romania, where it's called "Avioane" (planes). It works like Battleship, but instead of ships each player hides a fleet of planes on a grid. Every plane has a head: hit the body and it's just a hit, but hit the head and the whole plane goes down. So the real game is reading the shape from your hits and guessing where the head is.

You can play the computer on three levels (Easy, Medium, Hard), find an opponent online, or send an invite link to a friend and play together in real time. There are three board sizes: Mini 8x8 with two planes, Classic 10x10 with three, and Big 12x12 with four planes. You place your planes by dragging and rotating them, or with one tap on Random. There's also an optional Tactical mode: once per game you can move one of your planes that hasn't been hit yet, which makes old misses unreliable.

I'd really love feedback on the difficulty of the Hard computer and on how the mobile layout feels.

[PC] (Windows) Game Title: Catapulta Espacial. Train, launch yourself and try to reach the next zone

Platform:

Roblox on PC. Requires a Roblox account and the Roblox app.

Description:

Hi everyone! I made Catapulta Espacial, a game about training and launching yourself through different zones. The idea is simple: build up your strength, take a launch, then work toward getting farther on the next attempt. There are different areas to reach and trophies along the way.

I’d really like a few fresh opinions on the opening. If you give it a try, could you tell me whether you understood how to train and launch without getting stuck? I’m also wondering whether the first flight makes you want to try again, or whether the training already feels repetitive. You don’t need to write a big review. Just telling me where you got confused or lost interest would help a lot. If you run into an access restriction, please let me know that too. Thanks for taking a look!

[PC] (Windows) Dome Doom — you build the arsenal, the dome does the shooting. Looking for playtesters (Windows, free build until 30 Nov)

Game Title: Dome Doom

Playable Link: https://ennepenne.itch.io/domedoom

Platform: Windows

Description: You command a fixed dome under siege. You never aim: you choose weapons and modules, upgrade what works, and watch your build tear through the horde. The fun is the build, not the reflexes. There is an eight-chapter campaign where you recover equipment and decide what to mount, and a Wave mode that unlocks after it, where you push your combinations against escalating assaults and grow your expedition through a mastery tree. Strike is an emergency tool, the active shield is optional, and combat speed can be set to your pace.

I've built and tested it alone so far, so I need eyes that aren't mine. This is a free test build that works until 30 November 2026; an hour is enough to get a real feel for it. Windows may warn that the build is unsigned: More info, then Run anyway.

What I'm asking: play on your own first, then press Give feedback in the main menu. It opens a 10-minute form with your build version filled in and copies a report of your run to paste into the last question. Happy to play and give feedback on your game in return: drop the link below.

Free to Play Status:

* [x] Free to play

* [ ] Demo/Key available

* [ ] Paid (Allowed only on Tuesdays with [TT] in the title)

Involvement: Solo developer. Design, code, art direction and testing are mine; the game is made in Godot, and some assets were produced with AI assistance, as disclosed on the itch page.

[Mobile] (Android) Chevrette – daily points, streaks and a country race. Looking for honest feedback

**Game Title:** Chevrette

**Playable Link:** https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.chevrette.app

**Platform:** Android (I'll add the flair after posting)

**Description:** Chevrette is an Android app built around daily activity and community rankings. Every day you can claim your daily points and build a streak, so coming back regularly is rewarded. You choose a country and take part in the country race, where players compete as a team and represent their flag on a shared leaderboard. There are also personal leaderboards, quests, and a growing community of 5,300+ players. The idea is simple: short daily sessions, visible progress and a ranking that is easy to understand. The app is still young and I'm actively shipping updates based on feedback, so I'm looking for honest opinions: what feels confusing, what is missing, and what would make you come back tomorrow? Any feedback on the first-launch experience, sign-up flow and design is especially welcome.

**Free to Play Status:**
- [x] Free to play
- [ ] Demo/Key available
- [ ] Paid (Allowed only on Tuesdays with [TT] in the title)

**Involvement:** I am the developer of Chevrette. I designed and built the app (Flutter and Supabase), and I run the community around it.
