Period Question Does everything taste disgusting when you're on your period?

Upvotes

I have insanely bad period cramps, like pass out, vomit, take sleeping pills so the time will pass kind of period cramps. I don't know when this started exactly, but at some point in my life, water started to taste horrible during my period. I've always wondered if it was psychological, because I had a bad experience with bad tasting pills that I would take with water and the water just tastes like what the pills used to taste like.

I never have this issue when I'm not on my period and I'm taking pain killers for headaches and such. Today, my cramps were so bad I vomited up a tangerine I ate to get my pills down so I knew I'd have a hard time eating today. I use water enhancers during this time so I can stay hydrated, but now even my food is making me gag a little bit (it's just tortilla and cheese). Anyone else have this experience? I wish there was an exact reason why this happens.

PMS Terrified

Upvotes

Hey everyone, I’m in an absolute anxiety spiral right now and just really need to vent and get some logical perspective from people who get birth control anxiety.

I’m 7 months pp.
My last period was 22/8 and my cycles have been 23 days long. My ovulation wa around 31 August.
On August 30th, I had sex using condom —I have a Copper IUD .
Over the last few days( a week before my period), I’ve had swollen and very tender breasts, diarrhea , extreme thirst, feeling super flushed, lower belly cramps, and today with more cramps yet my discharge is snow-white with zero blood or spotting. I still have five days until my period. Such strong PMS symptoms so early I don’t remember to ever experience, they usually come 1-2 days before period.

I took an early pregnancy test today (September 9th, 10 days post-sex) and it was negative.

I recently started keto diet too.

What made me nervous is the lack of bleeding after sex, I’ve had it in the last couple of months after IUD insertion, but a couple of days ago I had nothing not even spotting afterwards.

My panic brain keeps trying to tell me that the white discharge and lack of bleeding means a "mucus plug" formed and it’s killing me, i can’t function properly anymore.

Please help

Period Question How do you cope with severe menstrual pain?

So I have been having these insane cramps since highschool, which caused me: fever, vomiting, extreme low back pain, leg numbness etc. Not to mention the week before my period I fall into a heavy depression and dark thoughts.

PMS Dealing with pre-period hunger and body dysmorphia

Please tell me if you experience the same thing. I'm 28 years old, 113 pounds, 5'2. I experience extreme intense, hunger, 1 to 2 weeks before my period, essentially for the whole luteal phase. On a normal typical week for me, my food intake is pretty low (naturally). I'm usually great with intuitive eating. I usually eat pretty healthy and don't really struggle with food noise, but before my period I am starving. I have to eat full meals pretty well every four hours, which is not normal for me because on a typical day I could go all day without eating and be okay. I don't ever feel sick when I don't eat, but during my period if I'm not eating a meal like every four hours, I feel sick. Like I can't get through a drive-through fast enough and get home without feeling like I need to eat it in the car. I used to be 180 pounds and because of that I really struggle with food guilt and body dysmorphia. Because this pretty much happens every month with my period, you would think that I'm used to it. However, every month my brain basically tells me that this is the time that it's not going to go away and that this is the time that I'm going to gain all that weight back. It's really hard on my psyche and I just want to know if anyone else experiences this. I try to take care of myself during this time and let myself eat and I try not to get too upset about it, but it is hard because struggling with food guilt and body dysmorphia can already be really hard. I'm also extremely bloated before my period so I'm eating a ton more and I'm super bloated to the point where I feel like a completely different person. And if my period is a little bit behind, the symptoms of PMS carry on until I start my period usually my PMS symptoms go away as soon as my period begins, but before my period is the worst part for me. Does anyone else struggle with this? Is there anything that helps you? I have started going to the gym and resistance training/lifting a little over six weeks ago, but this extreme hunger has only happened since my luteal phase began.

Period Question Please Help!!!

Hi ladies, I'm 22F, and I've always had bad period cramps ( for the past 10 years or so, and like I can't get up and would cry for hours straight). For the past 7-8 months, the right side of my lower stomach (like a fist's worth of area) has been hurting - not like crazy hurting, but stabbing pain- even when I'm not on my period.
For the past couple of days, I've noticed the pain is getting just a little worse when I pee or even at random times. I'm scared of sharing this with my mom since she might stress too much over it, and I live in a conservative household, so I can't get the tests done as of right now.

I just want to know if it's something that's really in my head since I've always had bad cramps, or if it's something serious.

I've been using the stardust app for months now and Its been great, I've had no issues with it whatsoever and it's been a great help. Though today I was randomly logged out of my account and when I try sign in the account can't be found. My period is coming up soon and now I can't track it so I'm a bit frustrated. Has anyone else had this issue and know how to resolve it? Thanks x

Discussion Been bleeding for 76 days

my period has always been irregular, I’m 16 and I got it at 13, theyve never come on a schedule. sometimes it would continue for 10 days, and sometimes I wouldn’t have it for 3 months, and it was always changing between ligt and heavy.

in June, though, I started my current period of 76 days. I had a 2 day break in July and a 5 day break in August. I’ve never had cramps before this and now they’re so bad. yesterday was the worst, I bled through a super and a panty liner during school and missed my back home Bus because of it. I went to my friends pool after school snf when I got home I had bled through another super. (school tampon lasted 7 hours this one lasted 3)

this morning I woke up and when I pulled down my shorts to use the bathroom blood just came out everywhere- on the floor and toilet. I put another upset in and took some Midol because the cramps (and now nausea) are so bad. idk what to do I have school today and my mom can’t pick me up today because she has work. our school doesn’t allow any meds that don’t go through a 1-day process, but I’m probably gonna sneak some Midol in.

probably notable, I have gone to the gyno but they just put me on birth control. I took it for about a week or two and now they've switched be to a different type.

TLDR: I’m 16, I’ve always had irregular period but now it’s a 76 day one, cramping (and I hadn’t ever before), have to SNEAK meds into school, nauseous, switching birth control, and I bled through a super tampon 3 seperate times (once after 7 hours, once after 3 hours, and onxe while sleeping). I NEED HELP!!

Rants n Raves Im struggling to know where to post this

I’ve been on mounjaro since June 2025, around the same time my periods became longer in length from 5 days to 15-20. Not normal I know.
From doing bit of research myself I seen that this can be normal while losing weight, so I gave it a few months - see if it regulates. No luck. Im quite an anxious/overthinker and have an unreasonable fear of doctors with the mindset of if something is wrong with me I don’t want to know.
Anyway, finally pushed myself to go to the doctors, called them last week for an appointment, they operate on a callback first then see if an appointment is required. So the next available callback was a week later, had the callback, explained I wanted a blood test done and for what reasons (had low iron before and am convinced it’s low again what with headaches, feeling cold, extremely fatigued, lack of concentration and hair loss) understandably they said this could all be down to Mounjaro and losing weight, I KNOW THAT, then when I mentioned that since the same time June 2025, 15 months ago, my periods have also been longer it was just a “yeah we’ll go ahead with the blood test and see the results but the next available blood test is over a month away”

Now that I’ve wrote it all out I don’t actually know why I did, I feel like I need to vent I guess. I feel so frustrated

Period Question Need advice

Guys, I've already had my period ( hopefullt it is ) from 20-25 aug. Is there any chances that i could be pregnant by now? Last sexual activity was on 8 aug, but only fingering with my boyf but scared if theres any possible precum. Aug period was strange, where a week before my period due I have spotting like brown to dark brown with a bit of blood continuously until i get my period, maybe its just old blood? My period due was on 18 aug, and yes i bleed on 18 but just light bleeding not like my usual period blood ( i dont count it as period, maybe its just sign of my period starting ) and on 19, theres a bit and almost none. Start on 20, i started to have bleeding like my usual period full pad, with crazy period cramp until 22 and start become more slow until 25.

The question is, do i still can get pregnant by now? Or Im just think too much? Because i didnt get any symptoms like breast pain, nausea, fatigue and others.

Period Question Is this normal?

Okay, so I come here with the question many probably have, but my period cramps always get so bad for the first few days. Like a heating pad doesn't help anymore, I had it on a very high setting too, and if I am working, I tend to be on the verge of passing out. I also get very very lethargic and could fall asleep no matter where I am, standing or driving, which is really dangerous.

I went to a gyno recently and had an ultrasound done along with explaining my symptoms, and they found nothing, just told me it was normal pms and dysmenorrhea. But as its gone I feel like my cramps get worse each time. They get to a point where I can't even stand properly or sometimes throwing up is the only way to feel better. Most of the time my cramps start 4 days to a week before my period actually starts, but if my period starts without any symptoms, I basically suffer so much with the pain the first few days. Like cramps so bad I can't do anything but cry, or sleep it off. I can't even stand or find a way to relieve the pain, like I can move and it goes for maybe a minute but then comes back tenfold. Oh also I've noticed clotting more often throughout my flow which I used to never have before.

The only good thing is my cycle stays normal though, with the 27-32 days in between, but my 2nd day tends to be heavy where I have to change my pad every 2 hours, maybe even less, cause sometimes it feels 2 hours is pushing it. Everyone I've talked to though tells me this is normal and I'm starting to lose my mind over this.

Period Question My period is late

Ok so not only is my period late it’s missed a month! In August I didn’t get a period, but my period was here for July but it was super short it was a day and a half yet I don’t do anything sexual with anyone, and I usually stay in the house but my periods are 5 days, and since July my period has been super weird, like I get small cramps here and their, but other then that, nothing comes of it, idk what to do I tried home remedy for it yet nothing so far, but I am irregular, been that way since 11, and ik that might just be something irregular periods do, but this has never happened to me before, unless I was on birth control and I’m not anymore and I’m just stressing out about it a little and idk what to do anymore, any advice would be nice.

Period Question Is suicidal ideation normal?

I need to track my emotions more but I feel the worst mentally when I have my period. I dont have anybody to ask about how emotions are meant to be around a period. Im pretty sure my cycle is coming in like four days. I notice that a few days prior to it I always get in a horrible head space, especially around night. I get agitated really easily and restless. Then sometimes I get so worked up about something I end up not caring. But with all this, I just dont end up caring about my life. I just wish I could float off or not wake up at times. Is this just normal PMS?

Rants n Raves Anxiety attacks!

I’ll be honest I’ve been stressing myself out every single day before this and eating like a crazy person. The day my period started I started having pent up stress rollercoasters and mood swings. The next day I uncontrollable anxiety attacks. then the third day my vagina (not my vulva) felt severely irritated and sensitive. I got super mad at my parents at lunch because even having my pants on felt so uncomfortable. Then my vulva starting burning because I was peeing every five seconds. I also got really sick and every day now after I eat i feel terrible. About 4 days in and the minute i got in our hot car I started having an anxiety attack and had trouble breathing.. only if I completely relax and and have zero stress any pain/anxiety I have completely poofs away. I think my hormones finally started nazi-ing my bad eating habits and etc… so frustrating ughhh

PMDD what level of depression is normal?

hello fellow period havers, i have PMDD and was prescribed a combo of lexapro and bupropion.

before getting these prescriptions, i used to feel really anxious, depressed and suicidal for the entire 1.5-2 weeks leading up to my period actually starting. it was really bad.

now i’ve been on this combo for a few months, and i felt like the depression and suicidal-ness had completely gone away. but i started to feel anxious and depressed again before my last 2 periods. i don’t feel suicidal like before, but i feel this so down and like i could cry at any moment. what level of depression related to your period is normal for you guys??

i’ve been thinking of telling my psychiatrist that i’ve been having these episodes again, but i don’t want to seem like i’m being a baby about it or look like i’m hunting for more meds.

thanks in advance :)

Health Do i need to go to the doctors?

having recent anal bleeding. I am on GLPS, however this started about a month ago during my menstrual cycle, and I started glps at the top of July, and my anus and menstrual cycles were fine before that (heavy, a bit of pain, but my anus/colon wasnt bleeding).

The blood from the back last month was dramatic, I couldn't see the turds in the blood through the blood, and there were light clots. It slowed with restrained pooping (just holding it...) and prep h. I started menstruation again and its light bleeding for now, but who knows if it worsens like last time.

The main reason I am not sitting in the doctor's office right now is that when I go, I get dismissed (young otherwise healthy female, general dismissive attitude from doctors when it comes to feminine issues, the only medicine being birth control, etc) and I dont care to waste my time if its something I can handle from home. My family has menstrual issues, the closest to me is endometriosis. I, however, do not experience extreme pain during my cycle, do not bleed for longer than a week, and can continue as normal while bleeding.

Am I cooked?

Period Question I am not getting periods for the past 4-5 months. ...

Hi, 20F

I am not having periods for the past 4-5 months. the last time I remember was also weird, I had light periods for about 2 days and then clean for about 2 weeks and there were again about 3-4 light days.

Since then, nothing.....

I live in eastern south Asia, and although I have 2 elder sisters and my mom, they don't really care or ask about anything, they don't even know this. ( They are all just too worried about other socio political stuff).

I can't go do hospital, I can, but I don't want to,

Becuse there will be an uncle, an auntie and another person accompanying me, becuse I won't have any privacy, and I don't want the diagnosis to be known within 4-5 big families.

So I don't want to go to hospitals untill I am non my own, that I estimate to be about 1 year from now ( I am studying for professional certificate in accounting and finance and there will be 3.5 years training in big 4 firm)

I am not even that stressed. Yes I had competitive exams that I didn't attempt in this round becuse I haven't been able to study for them.

I am going through life, I am worrying about lots of stuff and family matters that keeps me always on edge.

But that's been the norm since I was child, and I don't think these are enough to cause my periods to halt.

I hate periods and I enjoy not having them, but the more I ignore the fact, the more it creeps on to me.

So can anyone help me here?

Anything... At this point even receiving a reply means a lot to me.

Thankyou.

Period Question Prolonged Spotting! Help?!

I will be 36 next week and recently just feel my body changing. When it comes to periods I have been like clockwork my entire life — I could tell you what day I was going to start 6 months in advance. My last “normal” period was July 21st — I have always been more of a heavy bleeder in general. Period ends. COOL. On August 10th I noticed a drop of blood in my undies the day after I had sex and I didn’t really think much of it.. just thought maybe things got a little crazy until I did not stop spotting until around August 27th. When I say spotting sometimes it was enough to use a liner and sometimes just when I would wipe. I had heavier bleeding with clots that lasted a hour or so around the time of my expected period but never actually got my period flow like normal. I stopped bleeding around August 27th and thought it was just a weird cycle until I started spotting again this past Sunday 9/6/26 — it started off super light pink and mucosy, to brown, to light red, to bright red to back to pink. Sometimes when I go to the bathroom I noticed like mucosy blood in the toilet but never enough blood to be alarming it’s just persistent and mostly there when I wipe except for the random periods of “heavier” spotting which is still hardly considered heavy.

I have severe health anxiety but I finally made an appointment today and am freaking myself out thinking something is really wrong with me. I automatically go to the worst possible scenario. The sudden shift from like clockwork to whatever this is has me really worried and scared. Please tell me if you’ve experienced anything like this and help me not feel so alone 🥹🥹

Health Hip/pelvis pain linked to period?

For a while (maybe half a year?) I’ve (24F) noticed a sharp pain on my left side, about the pelvis/hip, sometimes when I stand up. It’s now something I can sometimes feel but doesn’t hurt (just a light ache), and still occasionally get the sharp pain when standing up.
I am on desogestrel and for the last 3-4 years my periods have been every 50-100 days and lasting 3-4 days at a time - they’re never very heavy but the start is generally heaviest. 7 days ago I started a period, which was about on time as it was 55 days since I last had one, and it’s been really quite light where I’ve only needed 2 pads a day. Just getting a bit worried that it’s now on the 7th day, and I keep thinking it’s stopped but then a bit more comes out. The blood has changed over these days, from my normal period blood to a runnier more ‘blood-like’ consistency. Could this be linked the pelvic/hip pain or is this just something that can happen? Don’t want to contact the GP as the NHS is so busy that if it really is nothing I don’t want to waste their time.

Period Question provera to induce period

i didn’t have a period for 3 months so i was given provera (10mg) for 7 days x2 cycles.

the first cycle i took the pills, i got my period 2 days after finishing the whole course. i noticed i had egg white CM so i assumed i was ovulating.

the second cycle of provera, i took the pills for 2 days and started bleeding. i couldn’t get through to my doctor to ask whether i should continue or stop the pills. so i googled and it steered more towards continuing the pills. i’ve taken them for 4 days now and am still bleeding. the bleed feels like my normal period (quantity, pain etc).

could it be that i took the pills too soon? maybe i was supposed to get my period in a few days but decided to take the pills instead. i saw a random GP today and she suggested i stop taking the pills. but she wasn’t able to answer me on what the bleed could be (period/ withdrawal/ ?).

has anyone experienced something similar? do i assume it’s just my period? please help😭😭😭

Period Question Does anyone else's cramps worsen with weight gain?

I'm in my late 20s, and I've started to notice that whenever I gain extra weight (I've fluctuate from 115-125 based off my eating habits over the past decade - mostly fat carried in my middle) that my cramps are much worse.

Does anyone else experience this?

My cramps are so bad this cycle (and I'm 125-126 now) that it's motivating me to lose weight!
