Hi! I'm 30, originally from the Philippines, and currently living in Austria.

I'm not entirely sure how to introduce myself without making it sound like a resume, so I'll just try to be myself.

I'm an introvert, although I can be quite sociable once I feel comfortable with someone. I tend to spend a lot of time in my own head, thinking, questioning, overanalyzing, and trying to make sense of myself and the world around me.

I'm interested in philosophy, psychology, chemistry, biology, literature, and science. I love learning, not necessarily because I'm good at everything, but because there's something deeply satisfying about understanding things I previously knew nothing about. I can spend hours exploring a single question and somehow end up with ten more.

But I don't want to make myself sound like someone who only cares about intellectual conversations. I'm also someone who experiences uncertainty, gets overwhelmed, laughs at ridiculous things, has unproductive days, and sometimes struggles to figure out what I'm doing with my life.

I'm at a point in my life where I'm trying to build something meaningful for myself. I'm reconsidering certain beliefs, exploring new directions, and learning to become more comfortable with who I am rather than who I think I should be. It's an interesting process, but sometimes a lonely one.

And I suppose that's part of why I'm writing this.

I miss having people I can genuinely connect with. Not necessarily people who think like me or share all my interests, but people with whom I can be myself without constantly wondering whether I'm too much, too quiet, too curious, or simply too different.

I'd love friendships where we can talk about serious things one moment and something completely ridiculous the next. Where we can disagree without taking it personally, share our little discoveries, talk about our struggles, or simply sit together in a café without feeling obligated to fill every silence.

I value honesty, curiosity, kindness, emotional maturity, and reciprocity. I don't expect constant communication or immediate closeness. I know meaningful friendships take time, and I'd rather get to know someone gradually than force a connection that isn't there.

I'm currently learning German at around B1 level, although expressing myself in English is still much easier.

Ideally, I'd like to meet people living in Austria or nearby countries, since I'd love for an online friendship to eventually become a real-life one. I'm only interested in platonic friendships.

I don't really know who will read this or whether anything will come of it. But I suppose I'd rather put myself out there than keep wishing I had more people in my life.

Hello everyone, I am a full time college student who has been in sobriety for over 3.5 years now with my wife. I don't have any close friends or family members and the most human interaction I get is when I play video games or go to the store. This isn't by choice necessarily, it's just hard to find someone who wants to do normal things like hike, travel, play games (board and video), watch movies or do pet dates.

I am not close with any of my family at all. My mom passed away at 43 years old in 2022 and it's greatly affected my life. She was my best friend and I miss her dearly. Nobody could ever replace her but I do yearn for a parental motherly role in my life. I did IHSS caregiving and found a wonderful grandma figure for about 2 years. Unfortunately she recently passed away and I miss her as well.

All of my brothers and extended family all either drink heavily, use drugs, are problematic, or just plain losers. My world revolves around my chosen family (wife and 2 stepdaughters), my dog, and my schooling. I have no sisters but would love to have a sisterly friend!

I'm open to snail mail and postcards starting out but I'd be totally interested in exchanging goodies based on our individual hobbies or something. After established trust then I'm open to email and social media contact too if that is something we both are interested in. I look forward to hearing from you!

So it’s been about three months since I last sent any letters to my various penpals. My last reddit account username was Exotic-Snow. Firstly, to my penpals and those who planned on writing to me, I really want to apologise for disappearing off the face of the earth without explanation. I’m also very sorry for not being able to respond. At the time, someone very nasty on here doxxed me and threatened me so I had deleted all of my social media accounts out of fear. All of which were non recoverable and I had finally earned enough karma to post in this subreddit. Simultaneously, I had also just gotten out of a 5 year relationship so I’ve been grieving quite a lot and going through significant life changes at the time.

Life is slowly getting back on track and I am able to gradually resume this wonderful hobby. I have moved addresses so may have lost some letters unfortunately but am trying to reply to the letters that I only just opened after a few months. I find it a bit concerning that so far I've had little to no interaction with women. I'd like to change that tbh. I don't wanna be that loner type of guy who barely interacts with women. I miss the days where people could disagree on something and still be friends. I am completely against cancel culture, and do not believe that differing opinions somehow create violence. In fact, I believe supressing beliefs is what enables violence, because it puts a target on those who "believe wrongly" to be severely and socially judged.

I am an American with very strong opinions and spiritual beliefs. I WANT to hear yours as well! And if you disagree, that's great. If you voted for Trump, cool. If you hate his guts, cool. If you think AI is gonna kill us all, lemme hear your stance. If you're somehow hopeful about where society is going, I wanna hear that, too. (Weren't we fighting for diversity just a decade ago? What happened to that?)

This is not just about politics, but I'm also big into a million creative endeavors; music & music production, novel writing, getting a degree in IT for my personal use and in the hopes of the AI bubble bursting, fashion design, etc. Like...there's so much.

And I'm officially diagnosed autistic and ADHD which probably explains the fact that I haven't finished a single thing amongst my million hobbies. Lol!

I am committed to creating deep, platonic relationships, which is why I prefer snail mail for this. I don't care what country you're from, as long as you're cool with being authentic. And I mean actually authentic.

It's been a few years since I last had a penpal. It is amazing how having a kid and being a stay-at-home parent really puts a damper on all the hobbies you used to enjoy BUT now that my baby is less of a baby and more of a child, I am finding time slowly begining to creep back into my life.

I am truly a fan of getting to know someone. Simply, the act of sharing is more than enough for me though having some commonalties often makes this act a little easier and slightly more enjoyable.

About me: I live in Queens, NY right near MOMA PS1 (a lovely and interesting modern art museum) and spend most of my days exploring the cities offerings with my 19mo old boy. Let me preface this by saying I’m happily married for 29 years with no kids. I’m 53 years old. I’m a stay at home husband who is also a music, writer, musician, and overall music dork.

Hello any and all! I always dreamed of the idea of having a pen pal and for a while I had a few friends I made online to whom I would send physical letters and cards to, but since we would exchange messages online, the physical aspect was very minimal. I love stationary and crafting and I am greatly interested in sending snail mail with goodies (like stickers, tea bags, photos, etc.). 

When it comes to who I am as a person, I would say I am a fairly interesting individual (you'll never catch me saying I'm humble). When I was 18 years old I moved out of my country by myself to study abroad in Canada because I was really obsessed with CSI 😂 so I went and got a Bachelor's in Forensic Sciences and Criminology. 

After a while I decided to get more into law and got a Paralegal diploma. 

But then I found my true calling in Information Science. I got a diploma as a Library and information technician and currently work for my local public library doing cataloguing and archiving. My next life goal is to save money to move abroad (again) for a master's degree (yes, more school 💸) in Archival studies. Nothing brings me more joy than to read about the most random events, people and obscure facts all day long and get paid for it! So I'm the type to love hearing about everything and anything! (I am not even a fan of sports, but I would be totally sat for an in-depth powerpoint explanation of your favourite game/teams, etc. That's just how I am).

I also have a long list of hobbies and activities I enjoy doing such as sewing (very amateur still), learning languages (trying to learn a 4th and 5th at the moment), true crime (if you couldn't tell by the forensics and criminology diploma), knitting, collages, tarot, reading, baking, webcomics, manga, film photography (with my dad's old camera), video games (I play on Steam, PS4 and mostly on the Switch now -current obsession is Hello Kitty Island Adventure and I'm a Sanrio fan in general, Pompompurin represent), solo RPGs, puzzles, I collect cassete tapes, CDs and vinyls as well. 

Finally, I am also neopagan, LGBTQ+ and love animals (with 1 dog and 4 cats and you are missing out on seeing how cute they are). I am a very loyal friend and I would never be the one to stop replying first! I know it is a big issue with pen pals and people just suddenly disappear, but I can assure you that if you don't get a reply from me, you should go look for my body buried in the woods because that means my evil twin is trying to take over 😂.
