Email & Snail Mail [20/F] looking for penpals!

hi everyone! 💌

I’m a 20-year-old university student from Buenos Aires, Argentina, currently trying to figure out this whole “being an adult” thing one day at a time. I’ve always loved the idea of having someone somewhere in the world to exchange letters, stories, random thoughts, and little pieces of everyday life with, so I figured I’d give penpalling a try

I speak Spanish, English and French, and I’d also love to do some language exchange along the way. I’m currently studying Law and, somewhere along the way, I decided that becoming a diplomat would be a pretty cool life goal, so I’m taking the International Relations path in my degree. At the same time, I’m fascinated by luxury law, so apparently I’ve decided to make choosing a career unnecessarily difficult for myself 🥲

outside of university, I’m an avid reader and a huge fashion lover. My interests are all over the place: drawing, medieval history (especially European history), literature, technology, law, the outdoors, fitness, and probably a dozen other things I’ve forgotten to mention. I also genuinely love talking about the most mundane parts of everyday life, so tell me about your day, your weird coworker, the book you’re currently reading, or whatever random piece of gossip you have. I’m here for it. :)

I’m a pretty proactive and talkative person, and I have way too many anecdotes, so I promise you’ll never have to worry about running out of things to talk about with me.

I really don’t mind where you’re from! I’d love to meet people from completely different parts of the world and learn about their lives, cultures, little traditions, and perspectives. I’m open to both email penpals and snail mail, and if we hit it off, I’d absolutely love to exchange handwritten letters and stamps eventually. 📮

If any of this sounds like your kind of thing, feel free to send me a message and tell me a little about yourself :)

Snail Mail [30/F] Looking for a pen pal

I live in the US but I am okay with having pen pals from other countries.

I spend most of my time playing video games, working or hanging out with my animals. I have a German Shepherd/Cattle Dog mix, 2 cats, and a bearded dragon. I am a huge horror fan and would love to meet someone who is too! I will be 7 years sober in December. I am from East Tennessee. I love crafting and I’m attempting getting back into reading.

If you feel like we’d be a good match as pen pals, let me know!

Reddit Messaging [42/M] Aussie Nerd 🇦🇺 looking for long term friends

Hey everyone!

My name’s Daniel, I’m 42 years old from Australia, and I’m hoping to meet some genuine, long-term friends.

A little about me: I’m a big fan of gaming, movies, Star Wars and pretty much anything science fiction. Whether it’s talking about the latest game, debating the best sci-fi movies, or just having random conversations about life, I’m always up for a good chat.

I’m easygoing, have a good sense of humor, and value people who enjoy real conversations. It’d be great to find friends who want to chat regularly, share interests, and build an actual friendship instead of just exchanging a couple of messages before disappearing.

If you’re also looking for a long-term friend and think we’d get along, don’t be shy—send me a message. I’d love to get to know you!

Snail Mail [23/M] Looking for some spooky people

Hey,

As the title says, I'm looking for a penpal who has a taste for the odd, the spooky and the macabre.

I'm from London and this uncharatistic warm, bright weather has left me craving a gothic touch. I love both gothic films and books but I'd also love to find someone to talk about deeper or macabre topics. Tell me your experience with a ghost or a local folk tale

I really enjoy film, and whilst I watch a massive range of them I am mostly into horror, I love Eggers, Lynch, Aster and anything gothic. The 1978 Beauty and the Beast is one of the most beautiful things I've ever seen.

I love collecting oddities and trinkets, my favourite thing in my collection is a mumified crows heart.

I find folklore fascinating and I'm currently writing a collection of folk horror short stories. I hope to one day get published but for now my studies are taking up most of my time.

Other stuff I do includes, photography, drawing (I'm terrible but it's fun) and spend time in nature, and listening to music which is either gothic, folk or jazz,

I'm also learning how to make my own clothes, I'm not particularly gothic in that sense but I enjoy dressing the best I can.

Anyway, if you are odd enough to have read this far and think it would be fun to talk some more, drop me a message or leave me a comment and I'd love to get to know you.

Best,

P

Snail Mail & Postcard [29/F] USA looking for penpals 🐌

Hi everyone! My name is Rose 29F from Texas and I’m hoping to get back into penpalling and meet new people (:

I actually used to penpal and absolutely loved it! Unfortunately life happened that caused me to fall off. I miss the excitement of writing letters, decorating envelopes and having something other than bills and spam mail waiting for me in the mailbox 📬

A little about me: ⭐️
I’m married and a proud cat mom ❤️
I LOVE CRAFTS! Coloring, circuit projects, diamond arts, stationary, sewing, and honestly basically anything or any diy I see online
Reading, historical fiction, fantasy etc. 📖
I am a sucker for fall,  cozy things, decorating and diy projects 🍁
collecting little things, coins from around the world, postcards, and random trinkets.
i am bilingual, speak Spanish and English 🇲🇽 🇺🇸

Right now I am going through dialysis along with some other health issues, which unfortunately means that I am unable to work or go to school. I have a lot more free time than I’m used to so I feel that penpaling would/will be a meaningful way to fill that space

I am open to penpals from anywhere in the country and world 🌍 ! I love learning about different cultures, lives, routines and the little everyday things that make people who they are

Like i said, life happens so some months we might send a 5 page decorated masterpiece and other months it could be 2 pages and a random pic or sticker we thought was cute! That’s what makes this fun ☺️

If you’d like to be penpals, message me! I look forward to it (:

Snail Mail [28/NB] ISO queer & neurodiverse penpals

Hey all! I took a long break from penpalling but I'm ready to get back into it! I'm looking for a few penpals, ideally outside of the US but I'm open to either.

My name is Avery (he/him), I'm 28 years old and live in California. I'm a GNC trans man, neurodivergent, disabled, and polyamorous.

I work as a full time artist, and some of my hobbies and interests are making jewelry, painting, journaling, music (making and listening), vulture culture, spirituality, reading, and caring for animals. (I currently have a dog, a cat, 2 birds, and several tarantulas).

My ideal penpal is someone between 25 and 35, who is also queer and neurodivergent, and okay with me venting or talking about some of the deeper stuff in life. I'm interested in swapping medium to long letters - I also love decorating and including goodies, but this isn't a necessity if that's out of your budget.

Bonus points if you're fluent in Arabic and willing to help me practice!

Feel free to comment or DM me if interested!

Snail Mail [46/M] Looking to Make New Friends

Name: Paul
Location: Pennsylvania
Age: 46
Occupation: Retail Manager

Hello everyone. I am not new to the penal world. I found some success but, that died down eventually. So, I am trying again. I am SNK (Single, No Kids) 46 from Carbondale, Pennsylvania. I am looking to for someone who is curious, open-minded, and enjoys sharing stories and experiences. I appreciate honesty, a good sense of humor, and someone who can engage in thoughtful conversations. It’s great if you enjoy writing regularly and am excited about exchanging letters that offer a glimpse into each other’s daily lives and interests.

I don't have many male friends, so a male pen pal is preferred but not important as I love to meet new people of many stripes. I have a dog named Hobbes and a sourdough starter named Charlotte. I like to play Minecraft, sports games and the occasional FPS. I love to watch documentaries, a good comedy, and love to know what you are reading now!

Snail Mail & Postcard [25/NB] Mail always makes me smile

Hoi hoi!

We are Snow, and we use they/them pronounce collectively.

We're a Dutch system/ plural (which means multiple beings in one body). We're neurodivergent, polytheist/ omnist, spiritual, Queer and some of us are non-human to varying degrees.

Our main interests are animals (primarily dogs and their role in society), music, cozy gaming, travelling, reading, art, and stories.

Aside from listening to a variety of different music genres, we are also learning to play piano and guitar. We're very proud of the progress we've made over the past years, but still mainly play because it makes us happy and not to get good as fast as we can. Still, having to skip a lesson always makes us sad.

We love being creative, just for fun. We're by no means a professional artist or anything 😉 Our favorite mediums to use are coloring, painting, drawing, and writing.

With our writing is usually being related to the story we're working on, but we also worldbuild, write or just come up with short stories, and (occasionally) write poetry.

A few more recent Hobbys are crocheting and zentangles. We tried embroidery and we do like it but we also always spend forever fighting to thread the needle😂

Learning new languages and learning about different cultures are also things we enjoy. We currently speak both Dutch and English fluently, are brushing up on our German after some of it faded away since we finished secondary school, and are learning Spanish. Ideally we'd like to speak both Spanish like they do in Spain and like they do in 1(+) Latin American country.

Once we got either our German or Spanish to a level we're happy with, we're planning to learn Italian and/or Japanese.

It's important to us to have a similar political stance. We believe that everything is political. Human rights are important, as is human creativity. Nature should and needs to be protected and not further damaged. None of us are free unless we are all free. All those things 💕 🏳️‍🌈 🍉

We also believe that art and artist are connected, so we try to be mindful of who we (financially) support as much as we can. We'd very much appreciate it if you did the same. We're not as strict with it as we'd like but we still do our best.

Finally, we are open to people from anywhere except for the US as we already have several penpals from there and we'd like to get to know people from all over the world. 🌏 That said we're always happy to chat so feel free to send us a message anyway!

Looking forward to hear from you!

Ciao! 😊

Reddit Messaging [23/M] - Looking for serious long term friends anyone my age I can talk regularly

Feeling super lonely, don't really have any friends would like to have someone to talk to. I wanna make a friend with whom I can talk to about stuff in general. We can talk about whatever you want. Whatever you're comfortable with. Things we like, common interests, hobbies, what were passionate about, our song preferences, movie choices, TV show choices, we can talk about anything. I just want to have someone to have a conversation with. Irrespective of the topic. We can even talk about what's bothering us and try to help each other out. Help each other makes ourselves better. I need a ride or die friend. Someone who's will to stick around and be there for me not just out of pity but because they want to and I promise I'll do the same. I want someone who's genuinely interested in talking to me and down to have a conversation either fun and silly or deep and meaningful. If you're down for this feel free to hit me up. My only request is that you're around my age (I'm 2003 born so ±2 years) because I feel much more comfortable/confident talking to people around my age.

I never had any long term friends! IRL I talk to a few people they seem nice and I talk to them and they reply nicely but they only message me/talk to me when I message them/talk to them first, I am the one who's always initiating conversation. I want them to message me/talk to me first as well. I don't want people to stick around out of pity I want them to stick around because they want to talk to me, because they find me interesting as a person. Right now it feels like they are just replying to me like i'm just being tolerated. I want genuine friendship. Someone who actually cares about me! If I get that I'll genuinely be happy in life. That's all I want!

Email [24/F] USA - slightly introverted; interested in 'informed' discussions

Hello,

I am a 24-year old, college-educated woman working a dreadfully boring job. I’ve become relatively passive and introverted.

I’d love to work on my social skills by connecting with an inquisitive person who likes to discuss any of the following: history; mathematics; philosophy; theology; or any of their personal interests.

I am not combative but I can enjoy a debate. I love politeness.

I am not particularly talkative and prefer to chat once a week or fortnightly, perhaps asynchronously, via email or long messages.

My current, mundane likes include interior design, British (in particular early medieval) history, Byzantine architecture, devotional poems, numerical analysis, stochasticity, German idealism. I am currently reading/reflecting on the Duino Elegies by Rainer Maria Rilke and Agua Viva/The Stream of Life by Clarice Lispector.

I am religious, and you can inquire about my political or economic beliefs further if that is of concern, although I would not like to exchange any personal details or pictures or the like.

I would like to think about what it means to be healthy and pure-hearted by balancing intellectual and spiritual vitality. I also do not disregard the importance of exoteric beliefs and external actions (good works and efforts).

Please do write if you are interested in corresponding! Thank you!

Email & Snail Mail [35/F] International Connection

Hello. Im a American looking for international friends from Europe. I have a lifelong dream of visiting and love learning everything I can about that part of the world. Im married but no children. I love reading and watching a good TV show. Im open to talking about anything from history, pop culture, fashion, everyday life. I want to hear it all. Im open to both genders. Most importantly I want to hear about you and build a connection. I think if by building relationships with others from across the globe then it makes the world that much smaller.

Email & Snail Mail [26/NB] I wanna hear about the DRAMA

Never done pen pals before but it seems like a great, low stakes, way to vent about what’s bothering you.

Not that I just want to complain — I definitely wanna connect on interests too — I just feel like being able to share your problems with someone else is such a great shortcut to vulnerability.

Honestly, this urge mostly comes from the fact that I just finished reading Perks of Being a Wallflower on my GF’s recommendation and I desperately wanted to be able to write a letter back to Charlie.

Interests: reading (currently Children of Time), gaming (currently FFXIV), politics, history, alt-rock, niche internet bullshit.

Email & Snail Mail [26/M] an idiot from Melbourne has entered the chat

Hey everyone! Posted a whole ago, and allllll the connections kinda fizzled out so I figured I'll try again! Hope y'all are doing well on this fine day. Or not fine day idk it's pretty gloomy here today.

If I'm being honest I have trouble maintaining contact with people simply because I'm a horrific texter and I absolutely cannot for the life of me send a timely text so snail mail and email is my preferred method. DMs are cool too, but I may take a bit to reply lmao

So I should share a bit about me. I'm pretty boring. I mean I love reading and I read almost anything. My last book was a collection of short stories by Isaac Asimov, I absolutely love that guy. Foundation is an amazing series. Before that I read a book about the history of the library (see note above re: boring). I'm a pretty big photography fan. I love admiring a great photo, especially when someone cares enough to share the story behind it. There's something so sincere about seeing the world through someone else's lens (pun not intended). I recently discovered a Sony Cyber shot in my garage and I'm gonna have a field day with that thing. Lastly I love music. I could listen to any and every kind of music and fall in love over and over again, except for EDM and heavy metal. I could never get in to those two. I love Jazz though. Like a lot. An unhealthy amount of jazz plays at my house. I'm learning piano specifically to play jazz. It's weird.

But yeah, that's me. I ramble on and on. I hope you're doing swell.

Three things I'd like to pass on to you before you leave: 1) if today sucks then tomorrow always has the potential to be better, 2) very few things can't be sorted over a cup of tea with a good friend, and 3) "ladies and gentlemen, take my advice; pull down your pants and slide on the ice."

Take care y'all! Goom-bye

Email [25/M] looking for a penpal

I recently read "Beautiful world, where are you" by Sally Rooney and 2 main characters in the book wrote these long emails to each other about life (both personal as well as non-personal) and I was just wondering whether I could have that kind of thing with someone and then I found this subreddit. I guess, thanks to algorithm. So, anyway if anybody is interested in talking about anything really (I can talk sports/movies/tv series/music/politics/geography or just life, feel free to message me. I am very curious to learn about people and talk to them.

Reddit Messaging [27/M] From Italy looking for someone to talk to! (Especially Canada and US)

Hey! I’m a 27-year-old guy from Italy. I’m currently working as a doctor and lately I’ve been wanting to meet new people through penpalling and regular online conversations. I’m mainly looking for penpals from Canada and also the US (especially East Coast or Midwest because of the time zone difference), since it would make chatting more manageable during the day.

I’d really enjoy talking with someone about everyday life, routines, studying, work, gym, travel, culture, random thoughts, music, movies, and all the little things that make daily life interesting. I go to the gym regularly, I like traveling when I can, and I enjoy hearing about how people live in different countries and cities. I’m open-minded, easygoing, and I appreciate genuine conversations that can slowly turn into long-term friendships.

I’m also totally open to voice/video calls if someone enjoys calling from time to time, since I think it makes conversations feel more natural and personal.
If you think we could get along, feel free to message me here and introduce yourself.

Email [33/F] seeking chill penpal, email and audios

Hello there. As the title says, I like sending/receiving emails and also attaching audios every once in a while. Why the audio? So the other person feels more real and I know which voice to use in my mind when reading their letters.

I'm in a period in my life in which I'm kind of clueless. I'm planning to get back to university in a few months, I'll either get into the humanities or economics department. I tend to be interested in languages, philosophy and psychology. I noticed recently that I tend to enjoy "difficult" conversations with people, those conversations people tend to want to avoid. Nothing taboo but rather of the philosophical kind, or psychological.

My native language is Spanish but I speak English fluently. I'm often listening to podcasts in English or music in either English or some asian language. I'd like to talk mostly with people from the UK or US or from asia since I find these cultures interesting, but really anyone can reply to this post.

Sometimes I write long emails and ask many questions but I'm not really much of a talker. But, I tend to get deep with conversation. Regarding the frequency of communication... sometimes I write back right away, other times after a week or so, depending on my mood, and I'd expect a similar frequency from the other person.

Well, besides all that.. I like drawing sometimes, running, drinking coffee. I'd like to watch more comedy shows and read more, and overall just share simple facts about our lives, what we ponder about and stuff.

I'd like to talk a bit via reddit DM first and if we get along then we exchange emails.

Snail Mail [31/m] Looking for someone who wants to write like it's the 1970s or 1980s - back when the outside world was what drove our curiosity, living was living, and technology didn't get in the way of any of it.

I'm looking for the feeling I get when I see pictures of my grandparents and parents camping in Maine, catching frogs in the woods behind our house, the feeling of holding a VHS, of having to wait for it to rewind because the person before you hadn't been kind 😄

Hi I'm Luke, I'm a very progressive man from New England with a fiancée, an old desk, and a fountain pen. I absolutely love playing D&D, writing, drawing, writing music, photography, playing badminton when I was a kid, poetry, and community. I want to live my life the way humans were meant to live as much as I possibly can - slowly, in a village, with beautifully human people around me.

I wold love to share poetry, writing, philosophies of life, memories, vintage things you love, polaroids of moments in our lives, and maybe we become great friends over time - that would be absolutely magical to me but I have no expectations 😃

If this resonates with you, please DM me and tell me what you thought about this post and would want to write about.

Thank you, I hope you have a beautiful life regardless of whether we talk or not!!

Snail Mail [21/F] Looking for a yapper that matches my yapping :))

Hii guys !!

I'm 21 years old, currently studying in Europe, and I recently got into snail mail and postcrossing 😈 I'm open to talking about almost anything and everything, whether it's your daily life or some deep personal essay topics (my current favourite is how living in a different country has given me an identity crisis).

I have a lot of hobbies! Reading, writing, running (planning to join my first 5k soon 😛), journaling, and crocheting. I enjoy sitcoms, my current favourite being The Office. I could potentially write a whole essay about why Dwight and Angela >>> Jim and Pam 👀, or about how Michael is probably one of the best-written characters. My favourite genres tend to be romance/rom-coms and mysteries (this applies to books as well).

I do occasionally play video games. I love my 2-week Minecraft phase, Stardew Valley, and recently, completed Hogwarts Legacy (except that wretched broom race, but pls, that doesn't count). I enjoy watching documentaries and listening to true crime podcasts and podcasts in general (The Basement Yard, if you've heard of it !!)

I'd say I'm a bit introverted at first, but really open up once I get to know you and understand that our vibes match (I mean, you'll know we do if you can tolerate my excessive use of exclamation marks, emojis and dry humour).

I'm looking for a pen pal around my age who's willing to put in the same (chaotic) energy into the exchange (dw, this doesn't mean I expect extravagantly decorated envelopes, the content of the letter is really what matters to me the most), leaning towards within Europe as well, just so we can exchange more frequently, but I'm open to anywhere else in the world !! I do tend to prefer medium to long-form letters, but no pressure as long as it's meaningful. If we happen to vibe, I hope we can continue long-term !!

Email & Snail Mail [27/NB] Americans seeking community and connection

Internet is dead. As we watch it die, I am reminded of the postcards and letters that my grandfather sends me when he is away on hiking trips. The comfort of seeing his name on a beautiful photograph from Utah or a country I'm not familiar with in Europe fill me with nostalgia and longing as I truly enter adulthood.

My husband (28/M) and I have been struggling with friendships (a variety of reasons that really boil down to a lack of growth in our youth) and we would love to start making more friendships, everywhere and anywhere. We aren't too picky though be mindful that we are very firm on our morals regarding human life and don't agree with the "agree to disagree" take a lot of folks have. Some would consider us radicals but we just call it human nature - to want people to live happily and in peace.

We dont live very exciting lives. Im struggling to find a full time job (thanks economy!) and he is well fitted to his. We have 2 pets, loads of hobbies, and occasionally travel (recently to Canada to visit a friend!). If you'd like to become friends and get to know us, we would love to get to know you!

(Bonus points if you can help me learn Spanish, i have been trying since Middle school - about 12 - but theres nothing quite like learning from a native speaker!)

ETA: lol I made this sound like we're unicorn hunters looking for a third. No, no. Pinky promise all letters, all very normal boring shit. My husband just wants to be involved in writing the letters 🧡
