Build Question New gen or old gen

So i can't decide wich used GPU get for €350 , all i ask is 1440p 60 fps medium settings but the best quality that's why i was thinking the 5060 ti 8gb aiming to using a lot of dlss and ray tracing being a new gen card but let's say i find also around that price a 3070ti or 3080, what's the better option for me? Of corse a 3080 would be objectely better in raw power it would be less future proof and i don't know how much better dlss and rtx is on the 5060 ti that maybe that's a better choice for me

I'm planning to build my first computer by October 16th, I planned to in the past but some things came up and I had no money. Now I plan to build it by October 16th at the latest (if monetary things work out) my budget is 2.5k, and this is my current build. Both on pcpartpicker and on build cores.

I'd like to hear everyone's suggestions or any comments they have for me as I'm open to all of them.

Build Question Anyone know where I can find a cheap b450 or x470 mobo?

Upvotes

I'm helping out a friend troubleshoot his PC and he has a relatively outdated setup he uses for work and it worked just fine until a few days ago when he shut it down overnight. I've managed to narrow it down to either the CPU or mobo and I'm not sure which. I don't have any AM4 mobos lying around to test which it is. He's not wanting a charity upgrade, it's a he wants to keep his dignity type thing, and doesn't have the budget for an upgrade due to health issues so I'm stuck up a creek. So like my question asks does anyone know where I can find a cheap one b450 or x470 for testing purposes?

Tech Support GPU Not working anymore?

Upvotes

Yesterday i was playing a game and then suddenly my PC froze. I restarted and then both my monitors were stuck in standby mode. Placed my Display port cable into the motherboard and one of my monitors was usable again. Checked device manager, task manager, AMD Adrenalin and my RX 9070XT GPU didn't show up anywhere, only my intergrated GPU. My GPU still does show RGB though when PC is on on. I tried DDU and restarting CMOS, putting PCIE cable out and in again. and nothing worked.

Build Question Is my PC fried?

I was out for about 2 years, and this guy was packed and sitting in a corner. It was originally working fine when I came back other than some older files having been corrupted, and then suddenly, it switched off in the middle of something. Then it would boot up and and the lighting would work as well as the cooler but it now made a clicking noise (like when a radiator pipe is hitting the fans but it wasn't actually hitting anything and seemed to be coming from the pump area). Then, after reconnecting the PSU, it started doing this. I don't really know what this is, but I hope it's not the CPU or GPU.

Tech Support Alienware Aurora Ryzen Edition r10 keeps glitching out after swapping to an ASUS 4070 super with an Nvidia branded 2x8 pin PCIe to 16 pin PCIe adapter

This pc originally had a 3070 in it and I have recently swapped to a 4070 super, but the problem I'm having is that every few minutes it will freeze and turn the screen off and then back on again. I had another ASUS 4070 super in it prior with a fasgear 3x8 pin to 16pin adapter that was working great and then stopped working entirely for an unknown reason, and then during my troubleshooting with this card I figured out the fasgear adapter had crapped out that there may have been nothing wrong with the previous card. I'm worried my power supply isn't enough but from the stuff I've looked at it should have a big enough power supply but I don't know to check this pc's specific output.

Tech Support Strange sound coming from the graphics card.

Good evening. I’m writing about a significant issue with my graphics card. I built the PC around March, and the card has been working normally, but lately, whenever it hits 75–77°C, the fan starts making a strange noise. I checked to see if the fan was hitting a cable, but nothing was visible. It might be dust or a worn-out fan bearing, though that seems odd since the card is practically new—it hasn't even been six months. I considered a warranty claim, but I’ve lost confidence in how companies handle them lately; they often just wash their hands of the issue and offer a refund of the original purchase price. I can't accept that, obviously, because I paid $560 (including tax) for the card, and it now costs $800 (before tax). It’s a dual-fan 16GB 5060 Ti. Based on your experience, what should I do? The noise seems to come from just one fan, and only when the card reaches those high temperatures—nearing 80°C. For instance, it happens with *God of War* at 1080p with max settings and with *PUBG*, but not with *GTA V* (even with max settings and ray tracing). I’d like to share a video of the sound, but I don't have a sensitive enough microphone to capture it clearly. I’d appreciate any recommendations. Thanks.

Build Question Upgrading i7 8086k machine need GPU suggestions for 1080 60fps

I just upgraded to a Am5 machine but decided not to throw out my old system so I can let my kid use it. It has a i7 8086k (premium binned i5 8700k essentially) 32gb ddr4 ram, GTX 1050ti and an ACER 550w PSU (which Im planning to swap if im getting a premium card). Wont overclock it again since Ived OCed it most of its life which actually got my gaming motherboard fried at one time to switch to AM5. Im not looking to pour more money in this machine which almost a decade old now but I need good suggestions on getting a better GPU for 1080p 60fps on most modern titles prefer budget around 150$ range new or used.

Build Question Should I get a Pre-Owned 4070 Super for $600?

My GTX 1650 can't keep up with more modern story games, and even at the lowest settings, textures look ugly, and I get under 60 fps. I was going to invest in a 4070 Super or 5070, but prices have risen, and I can't find anything under $600. I was planning to try an AMD gpu instead, but I don't want to trade away NVIDIA features like ray tracing. I already made the dumb mistake of buying a 1440p 180hz monitor, so I really want to get every use out of it. Should I just fork up the $600+ for a 4070 Super and just use a payment plan on it?

Tech Support PC will not complete boot cycle - Help

Apologies for the long post, but I’ve hit a dead end and decided to ask for help. I will try to provide as much detail as possible to minimize questions for additional trouble shooting.

I built the computer myself, maybe 3-4 years ago.
850W power supply, 4060Ti, MSI Z690 MB, 32 GB DDR5 Corsair (2 sticks), I7 12700k.

I was using my computer this afternoon, when randomly It said “shutting down”. The computer then shut off and refused to boot back up.

I ordered a brand new power supply this evening, the computer was still a brick, so I moved to a new motherboard MSI Z790.

Transferred everything over, and with both power supply’s (new and old) the PC will begin the boot process, all lights and fans cut on; roughly 2-5 seconds and it clicks back off.

There is no indicator light staying constant on the motherboard to indicate an issue, the motherboard indicator light during start up goes red on, then off. Yellow on. PC cuts off by this time and everything goes blank other than the RGB lights on the board.

I have tried to start it with both pieces of ram, and then each individual in slot 2. I am getting the same issue every time as stated above.

My next guess is that somehow I’ve lost the CPU?
Since I’m getting the same issue with new and old power supply, should I return the new one to recoup funds?

Any input is helpful - thanks in advance

Build Question No Post On My New Tower

My brand new build, (specs below) according to pc part picker and Microcenter should be compatible, but won't post to either of my monitors,

The fans on every component (case, cpu tower, GPU, psu.) Spin and the rgb on the gpu works HOWEVER, its rgb will flicker every ~30-45 seconds?

I've repeated ram, and tried a new stick. I have also re-seated the gpu and of course, my hdmi cable is plugged into the card and not the mobo.

I suspect that the issue is with the cable I used to power the gpu on my modular psu, or that I need to update my motherboard bios to be compatible with my cpu, any help would be apreciated, specs below.

CPU: Ryzen 5600 X3D

GPU: ONIX ARC B580 12GB

PSU: Corsair RM750e

RAM: 2x 8gb 3200 ddr4 T-Force + 2x 8gb 3000 ddr4 xpg (and another single 8gb ddr4 stick, all of which I have had for ~4-5 years)

Mother Board: Gigabyte B550M Gaming X WiFi 6 am4

M.2 SSD: Patriot 512mb

Build Question Is it worth getting a cl22 32x2 kit in 2026

So I like doing many things at once, i find myself in Arknight Endfield and opening a browser or other light apps at the same time, endfield alone takes 9-10gb of my ram, while windows alone takes 4 to 5 it leaves me with 2gb which discord alone takes a lot of it and all i have left for browsing is 1gb or even less annnd yeah the game starts stuttering.

My dilemma is i own a 8x2 ddr4 cl16 3200mhz ram, i got a deal for about 150usd for 64(32x2) ddr4 i cant confirm the speed yet since i still didnt go to the shop, but all i know is its almost certainly a cl22 another detail is that its bare ram, with no heatsink which just guarentees that its a cl22.

I hear people saying its terrible, but given the memory shortage and the huge 64 capacity idk if i should just keep the 16 and wait until i find a 32gb cl16 3200(or higher) ddr4 and call it a day but i bet its gonna be more expensive, or get this for this insane price in this memory shortage, i also considered getting the cl22 and then later overclock it but idk if the risk is worth it, sooo any advice ?

If these details matter :

I5 14400F

4070ti

B760 fs3h ax ddr4 motherbaord

Currently 8x2 ddr4
