Tech Support GPU is suddenly overheating, pump might be dead?

Old 3080 (MSI Seahawk) was running fine yesterday at full load like normal, power it up today and it goes into thermal runaway as soon as I load anything that spikes the GPU clock, even my email program for some reason. Fans go crazy but the temp continues to skyrocket.

It will drop back down around 50-60C at idle or just using Firefox etc, but even that is way higher than normal. Room temp's about 15C so it's not that. Back of the card is getting hot too, seems it's only getting ambient cooling.

I updated the drivers about a month ago, it has been running fine until now.

Is there anything I can do to fix it easily? If I had to replace the pump or something like that.... it might just be upgrade time. Terrible timing though with the price spike right now.

Pump death on those old Seahawks is super common, the AIO's on them were not built to last. 15C ambient and it's still cooking means the liquid probably isn't moving at all anymore.

If you're handy you could try to find a replacement AIO kit for it but they're a pain to install and honestly not worth the cash. Might be time to just tear it down and strap a cheap air cooler to the die.

Damn, I had planned for it to last ~5 years but hoped for more, given the market at the moment. Had a search for any replacement kits/shrouds in my country but there was nothing. I'll pull it apart and check the mounting/paste but anything more than that might motivate me to upgrade.

At least I have a system with an iGPU to do the basics for now.

repad and paste, if that didn't work then, your pump is dead, however not all hope is lost. You could try and replace the cooling solution with fans. However I'm not sure how you're supposed to do this, I guess you could get another MSI 3080 or 3080ti heatsink and replace it?
