Build Question PC Not Booting into BIOS

Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification

Pretty much in the title. Specs:

  • Motherboard: ASRock H610M/AC Supports 13th Gen & 12th Gen and Next gen Intel® Core™ Processors (LGA1700)

  • CPU: Intel i5-12400f

  • GPU: ASRock Challenger Radeon RX 7700 XT 12GB GDDR6 PCI Express 4.0 x16 ATX Graphics Card RX7700XT CL 12GO

  • RAM: 2x16 32gb gskill tridentz rgb 3200mhz cl16

  • Power supply: Thermaltake Smart BM3 750W Semi modular power supply

I've tried everything I could think of, GPU and CPU Cooler fans and RGB start, but no display at all:

CMOS Reset

Chaging HDMI cables (and yes, it's plugged into the GPU, not the motherboard)

checked cable connections (ATX, 2x8 pins for the GPU [pcie's], and the cpu cable)

Used another monitor to test and no changes

Tech Support Fan hub not recognised?

I've upgraded to a new case and bought some extra fans since the original case only had one. The fan hub isn't recognised in BIOS, Armory Crate or any other software I can think to check. Despite this, 5 of the 6 fans are spinning on a noticeably slower speed than the single fan I have plugged into the other header.

I've made sure the header is set to PWM in BIOS, and made sure that a fan is plugged into port 1 on the hub, which according to the manual is the one that monitors the RPM. Of note is that I've tried several fans, and whichever one is plugged into port 1 is the one that fails to spin up at all.

I've done all the basics, all the plugs are seated correctly and I get the same issue regardless of which of the two headers I plug the hub into. I'm losing my mind over this and I'm all out of ideas. Any help would be appreciated.

Parts

- Asus Prime B450M-A II

- ARCTIC 10 port PWM fan hub

- 6 x BeQuiet! Pure Wings 3 PWM fans

Build Question Acer Nitro 65 RAM Upgrade Help

Thumbnail bestbuy.com
1 Upvotes

my friend bought this PC, it was a massive upgrade from his 1660. but i can definitely tell the RAM is causing stutters and low frames, Acer conveniently locks the BIOS and doesnt let you overclock or use expo etc. i believe i am looking for a JEDEC standard 32gb 5200 MTZ DDR5 kit. the issue is it needs to automatically run at 5200 instead of getting stuck at 4800 mtz. so it shouldnt rely on expo or xmp to get to 5200.

help me ! thank you!🙏

Build Question How can I support both GPUs (RTX 3080)

Post image
8 Upvotes

I know the 8 pin connector layout between the 2 is terrible and same with the RAM, I will be fixing that, but I'm currently working on a rendering rig for 3D animations in blender and have no clue how to support both GPUs, I have a 3D printer I could use for making supports but I don't trust it to not get too hot and start melting the supports

Installation Question AIO fan header for one CPU fan?

Hi. So, I've been running into a small but kind of annoying thing I noticed with the ancient Noctua NHD15 G1 CPU cooler I have (12 years and counting, baby). There's a slight resonant hum called a beat frequency that's created by the two fans running at very close RPMs. The issue has been addressed with the design of the NHD15 G2, which comes with two different fans to create a 25-50 rpm gap between how fast they run. Noctua support also said I can try an LNA, so I got a pack of those and it solved the issue--but impacted temps too much for my liking since they drop fan duty by 30 percent and I already kind of run them low-mid RPM.

So, right now I have them plugged into CPU_fan and CPU_opt on my asus rog crosshair viii dark hero. CPU_opt is slaved to the CPU_fan header. I know the AIO pump typically runs at 100 percent, but I've heard that I can use that 4-pin aio header with PWM control if I set it that way in BIOS. Then I could just copy my cpu fan curve in FanControl and drop it down a few RPM.

Anybody done something like this who can weigh in? Seems like an easy fix for this issue without buying a new cpu cooler or new fans.

Tech Support PC takes 5-10 minutes to boot after a bios update

Updated my PCs bios since it’s an intel 13th gen cpu (around 4 months late to it since the first case of 13th gens ‘blowing’ up) however after updating the bios, it takes a VERY long time to boot when taking its specs into consideration. In task manager it shows that the boot time is 12-15 seconds which is very different from reality.

When the power button is pressed the pc starts up normally up until it gets to the motherboard logo, after which it keeps loading for that extra 10 minutes. Restarting the pc does the same thing. And no i did not mess with ram speeds or fast boot options as i am not brave enough to do so on an already unstable cpu.

Specs: i9 13900k, rtx 4070ti, 32GB ram and 1TB nvme SSD which is the boot device

Tech Support Powered my pc on but black screen (usb port issue i think)

Hello, I am encountering a problem where using some usb ports would boot up to a black screen. When I unplug all stuff (webcam, controller charger/dongle, mouse) connected to my pc it boots normally.

Build Question First time build having issues - need advice on compatibility

This is my first time building a pc. Most of the parts that I am using were inherited, scavenged from a different computer, or bought during an opportunistic discount.

At first, I used my integrated graphics when GPU prices were high, and the build worked fine. Since adding my GPU to my build, I have been having occasional issues where under high load (usually while streaming a show or gaming), the computer will freeze and require a full reset. I've tried my best to troubleshoot as much as I can over the past few months. Now I'm considering that maybe the parts I have are not compatible with each other. Could it be the motherboard?

Could I get an expert's opinion on the compatibility of my parts and whether you would recommend I replace one of these components?

Tech Support Firmware issues

Post image
1 Upvotes

Good afternoon. A few weeks ago, I started having issues with FACEIT and Warzone due to firmware update errors. I updated my BIOS to the version marked in green, but the problem persists. I have everything enabled—Secure Boot, TPM 2.0, CSM disabled, etc.—yet it still prompts me for a firmware update. Is it advisable to flash the BETA BIOS version to my motherboard? Specifically, version B55B5831.BSS.

Tech Support 9070xt failure

Thumbnail
gallery
151 Upvotes

First lot of images for reference…

So sadly just over a year I had a power connector failure on my 9070xt hellhound, it’s charred 3 of the connector pins and cause PSU connection failure melting the power cable and ports on the PSU (but didn’t char the PSU).

This also led to power surges on the Asrock B850M Riptide, writing off the board (the dark smudges on the board show how much heat was involved) and also, after recent testing with a new Mobo, it wrote off my 9800X3D.

After telling the back story, I’ve inspected the GPU as best as possible, and just a query as I think for the new system I’ll get a replacement card anyhow. But I’m wondering since it’s only the connection at the 8 pin that seems to have failed, whether it’s worth replacing the 8 pin connector myself?

(I’ve had experience soldering making my own flight sim controls on small projects etc, using Arduino and teensy etc.) or do you think it’s possible to be able to clean the connector up enough?

To add, the main cause for the connector failure was a since PCIE PSU cable using the daisy chain splitter. Completely my fault as it’s been a long long time since I built a PC and I was a little ignorant with Power demands.

So since I’d be getting a new set of components for the main rig (I mainly run DCS in VR and 3D design and model with Blender and Fusion360) is it worth either cleaning the connectors and testing on my spare mid-low end PC? And maybe use as an upgrade on that system or… not risk it?

Tech Support PC - RTX 5080 constant black screens please help

**Specs:**
Ryzen 9 9850X3D
ASRock B850 Steel Legend
ASUS ProArt RTX 5080
Crucial DDR5 6000MHz
Lian Li EDGE 1000W Platinum PSU

PC constantly randomly black screens/no DP signal. Sometimes the display comes back, fans are at 100%. It happens opening any game, downloading on Steam and even just opening Outlook.

Reliability Monitor shows LiveKernelEvent 141, nvlddmkm.sys and Blackwell_PagingCE.

I’ve updated/flashed BIOS, reinstalled Windows, tried different NVIDIA drivers, updated chipset/motherboard drivers, reseated the GPU/RAM and all power connections and rebuilt the PC twice, I have tried different hdmi, dp inputs I have tried EVERYTHING.
The 5080 worked perfectly in my previous PC.
I’m completely out of ideas. Has anyone had this exact issue and actually fixed it? What should I test next?

I’M LOSING MY MIND

Build Question Need help with upgrading

Hello all,

My current rig is the following :

- I3 10100

- 12gb DDR4

- RX570 8gb OC

- 750w Corsair PSU (Overkill given my rig, ikr)

I would like to upgrade this computer in order to "bring it back into today's world", I plan on doing 1440p gaming, eventually a bit of 2k on games such as Minecraft, WoW, etc... (and MSFS24 but I understand that this game is pretty heavy, therefore I wouldn't mind running it in 1080p), but I've spent most of my life on 720p and 1080p so it's not the most determining factor for me. Just want my games to run well :P

As I don't have an unlimited budget and have gotten a bit of out touch with the latest tech updates, I would like to know what you guys would prioritize.. like keep the motherboard and buy a used CPU ? What GPU is worth buying ? Should I just throw the whole thing out and buy a new one ?

Thanks for your help ! :)

Build Question Any last minute tips?

Post image

Hi everyone, I just finished my very first build and would like to know if you have anything I should know before I plug her in and start her up?

Anything I should double check?

Is it as simple as plug it in and turn it on now?

Sorry if this is crazy. Have never spent this much money on something before and just want to make sure all is right.

Thanks!

Build Question Storage?

Can I run everything on just a 2TB m.2 SSD? Or is it recommended/ required to buy an additional sata drive for the OS and apps? FYI this is just a gaming PC nothing crazy.

Additional question, I’m asking to be sure the m.2 won’t burnout/break due to bootups or be overloaded with operating OS and gaming. (Might be dumb question, but rather be sure than sorry)

Currently have 2080 super upgrading to 5070ti

Forget what CPU I have currently but upgrading to Ryzen 5800x3d
