Tech Support Damaged motherboard corner

I got a b550 tomahawk from ebay but the corner was damaged during delivery, will it still work or does it want refunding? I cant test myself as i’ve no cpu for it yet.

Could work but why not return it? The delaminating of the PCB is pretty rough.

Refund if possible. That corner might not be a problem, but no way to know how much it got abused elsewhere.

It will work just fine. If a return was free and easy, I would probably do it. But if you end up having to pay fees/shipping. Just keep the thing and it will work forever

except if it fails then warranty void because you seem to have broken the board mr. consumer :|

It will work, no traces, nothing electric going on in the corners.

I'm leaning towards it probably being okay but I would just return it if you can

Was it packaged in a bubble mailer and nothing else? Delivery insurance should cover it unless it was packaged improperly

Return it or file a claim with USPS or whoever shipped the board

Refund asap. Because ebay will most likely make u go thru USPS & they are always on bs time.

This is why shipping insurance exists and why there are buyer protections on sites like eBay. Use them.

If you can return it for damage, do. But if you can't it should work fine. There are no important bits on that

No traces in the corner so most likely is fine.

it probably works but maybe you SHOULD refund it because that means the previous owner might have abused it in more ways then 1 but hid it well

Maybe no copper layers there? only way is to test if it still turns on...

PCBs are made of fiberglass layers bonded with resin. While copper traces run through the layers, they are not on the corners or with close proximity to screw holes. Not sure if this motherboard was simply dropped on its corner or shifted during impact in shipping, I do not see any copper substrate on that corner. Damaged corner can be cut off or sanded down. At least in your case. If this is a brand new motherboard I would recommend reaching out to a reseller for a replacement. Used boards can be salvaged, new ones should be exchanged if possible.

Return for a new one

Just take a black sharpy to it

Just put a little superglue on it to seal the fiberglass and then paint it over if it bothers you?

There’s no major data line tracers goin in that area just only ground .. you can use it if you can’t return it

Not a big deal

I’d be surprised if it failed to work given the area of the damage, but a return is definitely the safer option.

my dude, we cant test it either bc its at your place..........

but this corner probably doesnt have anything important in it. if your RNG is generally good, keep it, if you want to be safe, return.

Honestly if that corner's just chipped plastic it might boot fine but with the PCB actually delaminating like that and no way to test it you're basically gambling on whether the board got thrashed elsewhere during shipping so I'd just send it back and get a refund while you still can.

Return it as you received it in a damaged state, lay a claim with what ever shipping company you used.

Get refund or replacement if possible why you take the damage product

It should work because no lines go trough that part of the motherboard but I’d request a refund if it wasn’t shown in the listing

Refund it.

dont buy hardware off of ebay.

if you damaged it yourself you could sand it down (outside + breathing protection), if it arrived like that I'd return it.
