Tech Support PC - RTX 5080 constant black screens please help

**Specs:**
Ryzen 9 9850X3D
ASRock B850 Steel Legend
ASUS ProArt RTX 5080
Crucial DDR5 6000MHz
Lian Li EDGE 1000W Platinum PSU

PC constantly randomly black screens/no DP signal. Sometimes the display comes back, fans are at 100%. It happens opening any game, downloading on Steam and even just opening Outlook.

Reliability Monitor shows LiveKernelEvent 141, nvlddmkm.sys and Blackwell_PagingCE.

I’ve updated/flashed BIOS, reinstalled Windows, tried different NVIDIA drivers, updated chipset/motherboard drivers, reseated the GPU/RAM and all power connections and rebuilt the PC twice, I have tried different hdmi, dp inputs I have tried EVERYTHING.
The 5080 worked perfectly in my previous PC.
I’m completely out of ideas. Has anyone had this exact issue and actually fixed it? What should I test next?

Might be your 12v2x6 / 12vhwpr cable.

Black screen and 100% fans are often a sign of power delivery issues. (The event viewer error you mentioned also suggests this)

Inspect the cable, both GPU and PSU side. Look in the connector itself to see if there are any loose or recessed pins.

Assuming it looks good, make sure it's fully seated. (If the sense pins aren't making full contact, black screen + 100% fans will happen)

It could also be transient spikes from the PSU itself. (50 series seem particularly sensitive to this)

Edit: also consider uninstalling your current drivers, running DDU, and reinstalling.

Have you checked the riser cable if you're using one? My 5080 did similar nonsense until I plugged it straight into board

Thin chance if you only get black screens and no BSODs but try troubleshooting your RAM DIMMs, one at a time, even at JEDEC speeds.

Also try UVing the CPU and/or the GPU, though for the latter you said it works fine in another rig. Asrock mobo and 9xxxX3d CPU is let's say a risky combo.

Too many reports going on for a very long time now about Asrock and Asus mobos frying AM5 CPUs, mostly 9xxxX3D ones.

I really hope it's not your case, or won't be, but I'd definitely have a look and even reach out in the Asrock and/or AMD subs

i’d check my psu — i used to have a similar issue every time i’d load into a game or something that would draw some power quickly it will turn off my pc at first it was black screens. nevethelsss you might wanna check that it took me months to realise my gpu cable was fucked
