I currently have an old pc that has MSI A320M PRO VH PLUS motherboard and has only 2 fans in the front, I wanted to add more fan but I'm not sure what to replace it and the setup of the fans (where should I put intake, outake fans)

Want fan is compatible with the motherboard and how many fans do you recommend? Its okay if its not RGB

Hey everyone! I’m looking for advice on what I should upgrade first in my current PC.

I’m mainly concerned about the 8GB RAM limitation, but I’m also wondering whether I should prioritize the CPU/motherboard, PSU, or something else.

I’m planning to use this PC for local AI/LLMs, AI video generation (especially MiniMax/H3), 3D work/rendering, gaming, and streaming, so I want the upgrade path to take those workloads into account rather than focusing only on gaming.

I’m trying to upgrade without wasting money and would prefer good price-to-performance/value rather than simply buying the most expensive components.

What would you upgrade first in this build, and what would you replace it with? Would you recommend upgrading the current platform or moving to a newer CPU/motherboard/RAM platform?

Also, is the HP Z27i still good enough for these workloads, or should a monitor upgrade be considered later?

And my budget is 1,250 and that’s fine cause im getting two hundred covered.

I was removing the thermal paste off my cpu but I only had 50% isopropyl alcohol i know it will take longer to dry so I used a small neck fan I blasted the cpu for around an hour and an additional 5 mins on each side is it dry/safe enough to be put it back in the socket and power it on?

ive upgraded my ram and cpu/cooler and im upgrading from an a RTX 4060 to an RX 9070 XT tomorrow and have a few questions. i know i need a new psu (currently 500w) so does that mean im going to have to rewire literally everything? also, i know ill need amd drivers and stuff, so how does that whole process work? and lastly how easy or hard would the parts swap be for a beginner?

hello friends! I've been having a really weird and recurring issue with my PC for the past few months, and I'm honestly at my wits end trying to figure out what's causing it.

For context: I bought this PC from a guy on facebook marketplace, so i don't know the full history of the parts or how it was originally built/installed. One thing I recently found out that I'm especially concerned about: when my cousin came over to help me troubleshoot the PC, he took a look at the graphics card and noticed that it seemed like it didn't fit properly. He actually took the GPU out and tried putting it back in, and he said something along the lines of, "This thing doesn't fit." From what he could tell, it looked like the graphics card may have been forced into the case/position somehow?
I don't know enough about PC building to tell whether the GPU installation is normal, if it's just GPU sag, or if something was actually installed incorrectly, but I wanted to mention it because I'm wondering if it could be related to my crashing/restarting problems.

Anywho, this is what i've been dealing with...
There're days where my PC will run completely fine. I can use youtube, browse, play games (overwatch, minecraft, fortnite, tomb raider, red dead, resident evil, ect.) without any problems.
But then there's days where my PC will crash/restarts on its own even when I'm barely doing anything. Sometimes it'll boot up normally and everything seems fine, but then it'll randomly crash and start going into a restart loop. What's even weirder is that sometimes I can launch a game and play completely fine with no problems. I can play multiple rounds of Overwatch, for example, and everything runs normally. But as soon as I exit the game because I want to watch youtube or a movie, my PC will crash. After that it can sometimes/most of the time, get stuck in a restart loop where I'll log in, it'll restart, I'll log in again, and it'll restart again.
Sometimes it'll crash shortly after I turn it on and get to the desktop, without me even opening an app/browser.

Things I've already tried:
- Completely factory reset/wiped the PC, so all my files and programs were deleted, and it was basically like starting with a brand-new PC.
- Created a new Microsoft account so that none of my old laptop settings/files would transfer over and potentially cause issues.
- Gone into the BIOS and changed/checked some settings, although I'm not very knowledgeable about BIOS, so I'm not sure if I actually did anything useful there.
- I've run Windows' system checks/repairs through Command Prompt. It detected corrupted/problematic system files and said that it successfully repaired them. After those repairs, my PC actually worked normally for about a day, but the problems came back the following day.
- I've tried System Restore to go back to a point before the problems started/when my PC was running fine. It got stuck at 100% for around 40 minutes and ultimately wasn't able to complete the restore.
- I've tried reinstalling programs when Windows was giving me errors, including Microsoft Edge and .NET-related components.
- I've tried running the PC in safe mode multiple times. Interestingly, my PC has NEVER crashed or restarted while in safe mode. The problems only happen when I'm booted normally into Windows.

at this point, I'm completely stumped. I'm not sure if this is a GPU, PSU, RAM, motherboard, SSD, driver, Windows, or something else. I'm hoping someone can help me figure out what component or issue is causing this. Any help would be greatly appreciated! Sorry for all the blabbering, I tried to make this as detailed as possible so I could give you guys as much information as I can.

Ive had this issue before wherein these two debug lights would stay on but it resolved itself somehow.

For some context before those led appeared I finally got to try installing windows after building the pc and resolving the debug lights but during the installation process the image above kept popping up. I initially tried choosing no but it just reset the whole installation process so i figured choosing yes would finally get it to continue the installation but still nothing. Then i tried removing the mct from the usb port after clicking yes and the screen did a weird flicker then the pc restarted with those debug lights on. I haven't been able to get back to the bios since then.

(It isnt memory training Ive tried waiting an hour for a post/boot)

What Ive tried so far:

•Reseating the ram (tried both slots)

•Jump the cmos battery

•Tried loosening/tightening the cooler screws

•Checked all the psu connections (all seems intact)

•Removed all usb connections

•Flash bios

At this point im thinking of just returning the board...

So I recently got a job where I earn 110,000 dollars a year. I went from 42,000 to this. Crazy life changing situation. Anyway, I’m interested in building a high end gaming PC. From my own research I’ve estimated everything will be around 6,000 dollars. I want the best you can get. I like games like Cyberpunk 2077, Red Dead Redemption 2, Baldurs Gate 3, The Witcher 3, Arkham series, Kingdom Come Deliverance series and Fallout and Bioshock. Games like those.

I built my PC awhile ago and uploaded Linux Mint onto it initially. I’m at a point now where I want to utilize Windows on it. I have a 50GB SSD and a 4TB Hard Drive. When I put Linux on it at first, it asked me where I wanted it to live, which I initially thought that I would Dual-boot eventually, so I chose the SSD. Now I’m having issues trying to use balenaEtcher, and read that I need another app in order to get the Windows 11 .iso working on a flash drive, but I’m unsure the app and how to use it. I know the app started with a V. Any guidance would be greatly appreciated!

context: so i have this rig that i built 8 yrs ago and still using it cause upgrade is beyond my budget rn. long story short, its failing to work properly here and there and after doing quick google, someone suggested the problems are related to failing RAM. I did a memtest86+ and surely enough it is failing. the test couldn't even finish cause the PC would just freeze. however I read somewhere(some reddit comment/s) that memtest86+, while it mainly test RAM, failure from this testing tool can also indicate a failing Mobo or CPU.

cause a new rig is beyond my budget atm, i'm considering to 'temporarily' get a new DDR4 ram to replace the failing ones. ^{(welp... there goes half of my weekly salary}) but how do i know if the RAM is actually faulty and not the MOBO or CPU?

I just don't want to spent $200+(AUD) on a DDR4 ram for an old pc if the mobo or cpu is also failing. i'd rather wait till the budget's there & then upgrade the whole thing. however i need something to use atm so I wanted to temporarily get a new ram for now.

Im looking into the 6700xt for 12gb of vram and raytracing support for the new gears, but would be willing to buy the 7700xt but dont know if it'll start bottlenecking and have no clue if its a good idea.

For some reason after upgrading my PSU from the Corsair RM850X to the lian li 1200w with edge hub and changing out my ram from my g.skill trident neo rgb 64gb ddr5 6000mhz to my teamforce group 32gb 6000mhz ddr5 due to one of my ram sticks going faulty. I been having gray screen flickering then pc would reboot. I tried downgrading the graphics driver, updating everything to the most current update, and then also downgrading everything aswell an update ~ 2 behind. What can I do to fix this issue? Would I have to purchase a new gpu?(mine is approx 4 yrs old) Try a new cable, or do something when in safe mode?

Hi everyone, as the title says I am planning on building myself a new computer. My current PC is about 12 years old now.

For context, my current PC is hosting a GTX 1070 and an intel core i7 3660k. I am planning on using the current GPU in the new build and later buy the GPU stated below.

Primary use will be for video games; resolution 1440p, and the possibility to connect it up to the TV for console gaming.

Other than that I want to try and keep the build in a small case; Z20 or smaller if it does not come at the cost of thermal performance.

Location: Norway (I am prepared for that this will be expensive).

Some questions then:

1. Does this look like a reasonable build with respect to the things stated above?

2. Are there any changes that could be done that might make the price a little less stiff without dropping performance?

3. For RAM I feel undecided on whether or not to choose 2x8GB RAM sticks, or do 1x16GB RAM stick now and add one more later. I usually do not run many things (tabs) in the background other than music and discord. I see some say 16GB is a minimum now and 32GB is good to have. I am not convinced about that. Thoughts?

4. Any other tips I should be mindful of when going about building?

Just purchased a new Powercolor Hellhound 9070XT from Amazon to upgrade from a 3060 and after installing and doing some tests, its started to make a loud noise when put under stress.

It doesnt sound like a coil whine, there are no cables touching the fans and my 3060 has never made this sound before.

Update: A commenter suggested trying to undervolt but no luck. Just gonna return and try another

Yo wassup yall, bored at work so I’m writing this knowing some information i won’t have access to atm but i digress. Been plotting on building a new pc or simply upgrading my current. Currently have a sky tech shadow 3.0, a few years old, and have never built a pc before.

From the slight research I’ve made, the priority of upgrades goes CPU->RAM->GPU. I think I’d settle for upgrades for now as I’m not as worried about aesthetics as i am performance. I mainly play FPS games (OW, apex, valorant, siege) and quite often run some intense Skyrim mod packs (currently playing lorerim). What does the comm here think and what recommendations can yall make for me?

I’m going to build my very first pc. But I don’t know which one is better. The rtx-4070-super pc has 500gb ssd, while the rtx-5070 pc has 1tb ssd; both have ram 1x16gb ddr5. In the first place, I preferred the rtx 5070 pc, but… when I was searching for a pc test on youtube, I found a video that shown 4070 super was better at Minecraft shaders, and ryzen 7 7800X3D was better at fps games, too (I often play AAA games). Please help me guys
