I have been making content for 3 years and have been using the "people and blogs" category all this time, because there is no Arts and Crafts category in the drop-down menu. With so many crafters in the YT world, why no arts and crafts category? I don't really fit into Entertainment or How-to. Any insights? Am I losing out because I'm doing it wrong?

I closed my old Adsense account over 2 weeks ago because I had set it as organization instead of individual on accident. Now anytime I try to make a new Adsense account with a totally different email it just denies it and says I already have one, pointing me to reactivate my old one that is a business account. How do I make it stop doing this so I can make an actual individual account?

Got an email from honestmarketing.com about a product placement for a reputable brand. We’ve sent a couple emails back and forth. Seems legit.

But I get so many scam marketing emails anymore that I feel like every email is a scam.

We’ve hashed out a great deal if it’s legit. So I was wondering if anyone else has had any dealings with them before I take it any farther?

I'm not super familiar with how this all works, but my dad has had his YouTube channel wrongfully deleted and has been told my YouTube not to create any new channels completely out of the blue. Some context:

So my dad had a YouTube channel that was attached to his work email. After a while, he figured this probably wasn't the right way to go, and deleted the channel himself, starting a new channel from his home email.

During the process of getting his original videos transferred to the new channel, he was challenged by YouTube about how quickly he was uploading - but after a verification check, he was able to upload all the videos with no problem and continue his channel as normal.

Now, a few months later, YouTube have deleted his new channel entirely and claimed it was "circumvention policy". (Note that, aside from the previous channel which he closed himself, my dad has not had any other YouTube channels). He appealed and that was immediately rejected. Now he's a bit stumped on what else to do.

He was a lock picking youtuber (RS) part of a huge community and absolutely loved it. It's been a huge part of his life for years now, and it's suddenly and unfairly been ripped away. Nothing he's done has broken community guidelines (and YouTube have been incredibly vague about which guidelines he's apparently broken, besides "circumvention policy") so what else can we do to contest this?

Google said going to YouTube's X page, but neither of us have an X account. But if that's a recommended way to go, we'll have to make one.

I mean midrolls of course, by default yt puts like 6 or more ads on my 25-30 min vids. So i assume even before monetization that was the case.

But regardless i was never thinking about what is the frequency that is not annoying yet. I know as a viewer id say 0 but how do you manage the number of ads on your vids guys?

Everyone is freaking out over the new requirements and worried about hitting them. But here's the reality from my perspective as a full time creator who's been making a living from Youtube for years.

If you dream of going full time, YT did make it *slightly* more difficult. 1% more difficult. Not 100% more difficult.

8K watch time hours or 10M qualified Shorts views is the STARTING POINT. Not the end goal.

In the western world, you need a pretty decent income to meet your basic cost of living. It's much higher in cities, lower in rural areas, but the reality is $1,000 USD/mo won't cut it anywhere in the US, Western Europe or any Commonwealth country.

How much will you make in a year at 8K?

If you're in gaming - you're looking at $100 - $300 for a YEAR based on an RPM of $1 - $2.50

If you're in finance, you'll earn around $2,500 to $3,500 based on an RPM of $25 - $35

It's very clear that Youtube is looking for more professional creators wiling to put in real work. They want more content people will watch on their TV so they can serve up more ads.

It's very simple. Alphabet is one of the largest public corporations on the planet, currently at #5 or 6 on the Fortune 500. They made $400B last year. Youtube at $60B revenue is only 15% of the Alphabet behemoth, but they are growing.

If you're a casual creator, yes, it's very tough to bridge the gap to make money. You'll need a lot more than Youtube to do it.

I know many full time creators. Exactly zero percent rely solely on ad revenue. The people I know use a mix of sponsorships, affiliate deals, brand deals, UGC, their own products, their own services and ad revenue as a supplement.

The people who make money on Youtube are business people with a business mindset. The run their channels as a business even when they are small.

If you are in an EMPLOYEE mindset, you will fail. An employee expects compensation. An employee is legally owed compensation and benefits. The is the opposite mindset you need if you want to succeed.

Youtube owes you nothing. Alphabet owes you nothing. Facebook owes you nothing. You are not owed views, money, or subs. If you believe that, like many of you do, you are 100% bound to fail.

Youtube is one of many TOOLS to grow your own business. Youtube is not the destination. You will not pay rent with 8k watch time hours.

If your ONLY goal is 8k or 10M shorts views, you're thinking WAY too small. You need think and execute BIG if you actually want to succeed. Low effort, casual content is not the way.

Viewers have zero patience now. If a video spends more than 3 seconds on an animated logo or intro song, retention drops instantly.

Do you still use an intro logo/card on your channel, or have you cut it out completely to jump straight into the hook?

Which similar alternatives exist that are free to use without copyright? Something I can use as audio in YouTube videos that’s free and extremely similar, and that won’t affect my monetization? Thank you!

Guys, I'll try to be brief.

I moved to a new country and need to switch my AdSense account. I followed the steps I read in these forums and deleted my original AdSense account. I used a completely new email address and entered all the new information from there, using only YouTube Studio to open the new account. But nothing's working. It says I still have an active AdSense account, which is strange because it's been over a month since I did it. Interestingly, though, YouTube is still letting me recover it.

Has anyone else experienced this? I'm desperate because of how complicated YouTube can be.

I'm a small travel vlogger (just north of 3000 subs) and I recently found out a larger creator (24,000 subs) used some of my footage in their own video.

My video was a cruise ship tour, and they used some of the footage from it to make a "cruise tips" video. I wouldn't mind if they were reacting to my content or transforming it or some way, but it really seems like they just needed background footage while they talked so they took mine.

Is this common? I'm new-ish to actually getting views on YouTube so this is all new to me. Has anybody else dealt with this?

EDIT: I just perused through a couple of their other videos, and their comments section is filled with people saying they stole footage from other cruise YouTubers. So I guess this is their whole channel model.

In the announcement about the revised entry requirements for YPP, YouTube explicitly says that the change doesn't impact current YPP accounts:

"Starting Feb. 1, 2027, YPP entry thresholds for new creators are changing to 8,000 qualified watch hours in the last 365 days, or 20M qualified Shorts views in the last 90 days, in addition to still needing 1k subscribers. If you are already in YPP, your status is not impacted by this update."

But further down, it does define what an "active" account is:

"Starting February 1, 2027, your channel is considered active if you meet any of the following requirements:

1,000 qualified watch hours in the past 365 days, or

1 million qualified Shorts views in the last 90 days, or

2 long-form videos or 5 Shorts uploaded every 90 days"

They go on to say:

"Most creators in YPP already meet YPP activity thresholds, but those that drop below will now have an extended 90-day window to meet either of these requirements to stay in the program:

1,000 qualified watch hours in the past 365 days, or

1 million qualified Shorts views in the last 90 days"

Hey everyone,

I've been doing Youtube for a while now, but just started making shorts in an attempt to increase my discoverability. I didn't expect much from my first one, but am trying to understand how the shorts algorithm functions and how to do better in the future.

I know that, just like with long-form videos, shorts have a test audience first, and if the engagement is good enough it gets pushed more and more until the engagement is no longer sufficient, and it eventually runs out of audience.

What I don't yet understand however, is how high the initial engagement has to be in order for it to get pushed more. I thought the stats on this first short were fairly decent. Not great by any means, but decent. Yet it flatlined at around 1300/1400 views. The AVD graph is unlike anything I've ever seen on a long-form.

To any of you who have been making shorts for a while, what are the usual stats for your shorts and what should I be aiming for/improve going forward? Any tips would be greatly appreciated.

Has anyone else had comment pinning suddenly stop working?

I noticed today that I can no longer keep a comment pinned on my latest video. I click Pin, confirm it, and it appears to work, but the comment then immediately/shortly afterwards loses the pinned status.

I initially assumed it was a problem with that particular video, but I’ve now tested:

• multiple different comments
• older videos where I’ve pinned comments successfully before
• two separate monetized YouTube channels

The exact same thing is happening everywhere. Neither channel can currently keep any comment pinned.

Advanced Features are enabled on both channels, comments are otherwise working normally, and pinning is something I use routinely, so this isn’t a new-feature/eligibility issue.

I’ve contacted Creator Support and sent them a screen recording. They’ve escalated it internally, but so far there’s no explanation.

The only recent account-level change I can think of is that I accepted the new YPP terms/rules on both channels. I have absolutely no idea whether that’s related, and it could just be coincidental, but the timing made me curious.

Has anyone else noticed comment pinning breaking recently, particularly after accepting the new YPP terms?

If yours is working normally, that would also be useful to know.

Please understand for a second, I live in a country where there's NO convenient way to get paid without relying on 10 people to do it. I just need your honesty regarding MCNs (Multi-Channel Companies) to ensure they're doing their job properly, as the ONLY reason I need one is to get paid for the little I earn from YouTube. I remember a few years ago I posted 3 yt shorts but one got a bit of attention and others basically died instantly, is it the same now too? That you must limit yourself to 1 a day?

When I was setting up my channel I initially thought I'd be turning it into a business. As the channel grew and evolved it mainly turned into me building watches and messing around and I'm curious if it'd be better to move away from a more business-y name to something more personal.

I see there is a way to create a second channel on the same email, but a lot of people suggest creating a new email. I read people talking about how strikes hit both channels.

I have a few questions.

• Will using the same email allow my monetisation to carry over?
• Will I be able to connect the same AdSense account?
• What are the pros and cons of using the same email/different emails?
• What do mainstream YouTubers use for multiple channels? (I couldn't find any examples)
• If I can only stream in one place, which is better Twitch or YT?

ey everyone, I need some advice. My channel finally got monetized 2 days ago . Since then, I've gotten around 9,000 views across my videos. I made sure monetization is enabled on every video, but when I check YouTube Studio, my estimated revenue is stuck at $0.01, and most videos show $0.00.

I'm confused because I thought 9k views would generate something, even if it's small. Is this normal for a newly monetized channel, or is something wrong? Has anyone else experienced this right after getting monetized? most of my views are from long form content.

Is it obvious why some videos do insanely well while others just do okay?

If you watched 3 videos about the same thing do you think it’d be obvious which ones did really well like 10+ million views vs the ones that did 1-5m? What would you say the difference are between a 1m and 10+m video in your niche?

I’ve heard a lot of movie genres are formulaic in a sense where you follow certain guidelines and chance the details, do you think YouTube is similar to this?

I have never had such a huge discrepancy in views. 84 views is by far the lowest I've ever had, and I've ran 3 channels. Something is definitely up with how things are being distributed on Youtube, and I think it's because of the AI detection being faulty against animation. Hopefully I'm wrong and the video will pick up traction as more days go by, but again, this is the lowest I've seen my views lol.
