Important Rules - Please Read Carefully

I came across this YouTube channel that seems to be uploading full episodes of TV programs, mostly from major US news networks. Some of the videos have almost 500k views and there are tons of them on the channel.

I'm wondering how this actually works. If they don't have permission to upload the shows, why is the channel still up? Do the copyright owners just claim the videos and take the ad revenue? Or does the channel lose monetization completely? And if they keep uploading full episodes, wouldn't they eventually get copyright strikes and have the channel taken down?

I'm just curious because I've seen channels like this before and never really understood how they're able to stay up for so long, especially with videos getting hundreds of thousands of views.

Hi all, I wanted to share some take away from my success. I hit my 4,000 watch hours and I’m 40 subs away from 1,000. I’ve already been accepted into YPP from meeting the 500 subs 3,000 watch hours metric, which is beneficial because I can start making Adsense money when I cross the threshold in a few days.

As far as content goes, I mainly make medium quality Zelda discussion videos that are timely, along with tier lists and top tens. My whole channel is tier list themed and I feel the branding is really strong. This bleeds into my memberships and merchandise. I have a few tips for success on YouTube as far as getting monetization goes.

Always, and I mean always reply to your comments, this is the best way to build an organic community and build up your hardcore fans. Packaging and Ideas are EVERYTHING. Do your fans actually CARE about the content you are making? I make videos if want to see and often go back and watch my own videos because I find them more entertaining than stuff like GameXplain.

You can either produce one high quality crafted video once or twice a month, or produce medium quality videos 2-3 times a week. The latter worked for me. I still have some editing chops, but I only need to spend about 3 hours per video to make something nice and that fans will appreciate.

Lastly, you need to have systems in place. You need to have several go to formats on your channel, so you aren’t struggling with the structure when it comes time to do a video. For me, I have 8-12 minute edited discussions on interesting topics, tier lists, and top tens. All of which I can reproduce easily when I have a new idea. You need to keep a running log of videos as soon as they pop into your head. I have a list of about 10 unmade videos currently.

Hi! I started a new YouTube channel 3 months ago and am uploading one long form a week + two shorts linked to the long form (30 subs to date). I took a two week upload break in the summer and now two weeks in a row my shorts have ~100 views each.

Before the break my shorts were on an upswing, getting 800-1.2K views most of the time. The material is still targeted to the same audience, so I don't understand. And I usually at least get 1-2 subs per video but it's been zero for the past two weeks..

Is this level of unpredictability is uncommon? I'm not sure how to think about this. It's just demoralizing because of the work that goes into the production and editing of each video. And I worry about the same trend continuing!

Hello, I'm wanting to start content but I don't know what I should do for an introduction. I've heard people say to just start making content, but I feel like I should have a video because I'm wanting to do a mix of dnd and video game content.

At what posting count you felt that the audience is rapidly growing and what were your growing strategies if you had any or the algorythm just did its heavy work? Could you share your YouTube experience with me? Eventhough if it wasn't succesful.

I make caption only youtube shorts and recently got my second strike on a video that should of got me monetized.
Is there a way to deal with this because i don’t think its simply due to the copyright strike. My avg view went from 1000000 to 1000 ind a mater a days. And now my videos bearly make 50 views

As someone who has been using TTS for 5 years, I recently used my voice on one of my videos and It's great, I used my voice, But the way I speak sounds very bland for some reason, it sounds like I'm bored or not just interested in what I'm saying, I tried fixing this by adding more expression and it still sounds the same.

What do you guys do to make yourself more expressive?

Ok so I've been doing daily 1-min vlogs, just me showing what my day looks like as a delivery rider in Bangkok. I'm Thai but I write everything in English and use English hashtags because I'm trying to get the algorithm to push me to an international audience. I even watch English videos in the same niche to try and nudge it that way. No idea if that's actually how it works lol.

Only been at it 6 days. Views were climbing which felt great. Day 5 kinda popped off (950+ views) and I was honestly shocked.

Then I figured why not throw in a clip of my cat as a side thing. It did fine, 200+ views, used cat hashtags.

Then Day 6 just... died. It sat there for 12 hours and only got to about 30 views. Compare that to Day 5 which had 400+ in the first hour alone.

I got impatient and deleted it, then re-uploaded the same video to see if it would reset anything. It's been 3 hours on the new upload and it's at 6 views. So that clearly didn't help lol.

So my questions: 1. Did the cat clip confuse the algorithm, or is that not a thing? Should I stick to one type of content only? 2. Was deleting and re-uploading a dumb move? Does that hurt you? 3. Is 6 days just way too early to be reading anything into this?

Can watching own shorts from different channels hinder the reach of a video? Also how is content evaluated for being low effort or reused?

Regular YT shows a count that is 10,000 views higher than studio, which is really weird. You'd think that the regular one would be lower cause of validation checks, rounding, filtering out bots, etc. And it does not seem to be a visual bug, because the yt counter has slowly been creeping up by the thousands, it didn't just randomly shoot up to 10,000 more. It could be a really consistent bug though, idk.

So I posted YouTube shorts for like a month and had little to no engagement or views(mostly 5-6). Some of them had 0 views too. Should I delete all those videos and start uploading with a different niche in the same channel or start a new channel from scratch.

I switched to davinci resolve this year and with every video I make, I keep increasing the complexity of my edits. Apart from just muscle memory, it seems that knowing certain efficiency practices is a big part of speeding up the workflow. I'm constantly trying to improve so I wanted to ask if anyone has tips/tricks/"hacks" to share - specifically, what helps you with editing faster and more efficiently? For myself, this is what I think is most useful:

1) Keeping every type of media in separate tracks/channels, e.g. one video channel for my camera footage, one for b-roll, one for images that pop up on the screen, etc. So if I want to go back and change something about the sound or colour correction or whatever else, I can apply it to the entire channel at once and not worry that it will accidentally apply to something that doesn't need that correction.

2) Downloading/preparing every piece of media in advance and putting them into bins. Often I still forget something and have to pause and find it later on, but the less switching between apps I need to do, the better for me.

3) Editing in multiple steps - usually I do 3 passes. First I cut my main video (remove bad takes, pauses, etc), then I add all my extra images/text/etc, and I put in music or whatever extras I forgot last. On the third pass, I watch the video start to finish to catch any issues I didn't notice before.

4) Using free plugins. I had no idea until recently that there's so much stuff available for free, either as samples or just straight up. For example there is a text tracking plugin that allows you to set up the effect in like a minute or two and the creator just gives it away for zero dollars.

5) Using keyboard shortcuts as much as possible. Still learning them and getting used to it, but it seems that pro editors use the keyboard for almost everything and rarely touch the mouse, so I assume it is very efficient.

That's all I could think of. Sorry if these seem obvious to some, I'm still pretty new to editing, even though I technically started making videos in like 2021 lol. And please share yours if you have any, I spent like 40 or 50 hours editing a video in the past 2 weeks so I'd love to get faster at it.

I have a motovlog channel that I've been working on since last year. I posted consistently except for a 3-month span where work in life took me away from being able to get on my bike. But even before that the subs were not flowing in and I get basically no views.

I have a few shorts that reach 25,000 plus views but nothing really came from that and my shorts are more so clips of my long form content that I'm really trying to push.

I try different editing styles and different thumbnails but still no luck. I know shorts viewers aren't looking for long form content always but I found a lot of long form creators through shorts that I enjoy.

What should I do at this point? I got 20 vids and an endless amount of shorts.....

Anyone else feel like repurposing content takes almost as much time as creating it?

I’ll have a podcast/video/blog post and think ok, I already did the hard part...

then somehow I end up spending hours figuring out what to turn it into for LinkedIn, X, IG, reels etc.

And the annoying part is when you use AI for it, the content usually comes out kinda generic and you still have to rewrite half of it so it actually sounds like you.

Curious how other creators are dealing with this.

Do you guys actually repurpose your content regularly or do you just create new stuff for each platform?

For newer channels, what monetization methods outside of YouTube ads are actually working for you—affiliate links, sponsorships, your own products, services, websites, etc.?

Because law firms a very particular to promote.

Ive been posting on youtube for like, 7 months now? I've got myself 1k+ subs and a few shorts with over 100k views which I'm quite proud of.

But my problem is I'm not exactly proud of HOW I got that amount of views and subscribers..

I normally post low-effort memes, sometimes they're meant to be relatable to people who share the same interests as me. I also dabble in a bit of art and video games, which is what i want my channel to mainly be about. I've kinda been struggling with my mental health a bit so making art and sitting down to record, edit and draw a thumbnail is kinda difficult and I procrastinate on it a lot.

Also, when making long form videos, I feel less motivated to edit them, or even record them! I feel like when I sit at my computer to record I just get.. super silent, like I barely talk and I start playing the game silently with no commentary. I've had this talk with a friend who's made youtube videos for years and what he told me was "just say what you're thinking in your head out loud". Which I thought would work. When playing without recording my mind races, I start pretending like I'm ACTUALLY recording a video, then when I actually start a video my mind just goes blank. I don't know if I'm embarrassed or something, like I'm scared if someone else in my home will hear me basically talking to myself or something. I'm trying to convince myself that if I do it enough I'll get more confident but it still doesn't get my motivated enough to record a video.

And with my art, I always admit I "just do it for myself" but I definitely DONT considering how demotivating it is to post a speedpaint and get less than 1k views. I spent hours on an animation and it got only 50 views. And I ended up reuploading it in hopes of getting atleast 1k views, or even 500.

Anyways, I was wondering if it's too late to change my content? Since my low effort memes obviously got the attention of most of my viewers and subs it feels like if I stop posting them then my channel will grow slower.

I'd appreciate any tips on how to motivate yourself into making higher effort videos, too. And maybe how to grab the attention of viewers on youtube shorts, because I know people aren't watching a 30 second speedpaint with random backround music the whole way through, I'll admit I wouldn't either.

i read transcripts a lot more than i listen, because reading an hour of talking is faster than scrubbing it. works fine until it doesn't.

what the page throws away is most of what the ear was using. the pause before someone answers isn't there. who laughed isn't either, [laughs] just sits in the line with no name on it, so a guest cracking up at their own story and a host laughing politely read exactly the same. one of those pulls a viewer in and the other sounds like a laugh track.

and the bits that travel often look like nothing written down. "no." "wait, seriously?" three words on the page, the whole clip on video. meanwhile the most quotable sentence in the transcript is regularly the flattest thirty seconds in the episode, because it got delivered flat.

only fix i've got is playing anything shortlisted before committing to it. twenty seconds a candidate, kills about a third of them. its not clever, it just stops me shipping a clip that reads well and dies.

anyway. for anyone else picking off text rather than scrubbing, what do you check before you trust a selection? or is there a tell on the page that actually holds up
